Tea At The Cabin & The Exploring Gaiwan

This isn’t gonna be a post with any kind of review or information. Instead here you will find (if you care) some photos I took this past weekend while staying at a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Got to spend almost the whole day alone, cut off from the outside world which was very well needed. I had a few outdoor tea sessions and found my little gaiwan traveling through the woods surrounding the cabin.

This has quickly become my favorite nighttime tea. Can this be purchased by the pound?!?! This tea really surprised me. I’m not a huge fan of lavender, but I’m starting to enjoy it a little more, over time. The lavender in this tea is not overpowering…it’s just the right amount to give a gentle floral note. I. LOVE. IT. Of course, what would a nighttime tea be without chamomile? There’s a healthy helping of chamomile and the herbal magic of lemongrass that creates such a soothing brew. It also contains blue mallow blossom which is said to soothe an irritated throat and calm a dry cough. My New Gaiwan!

This past May, we got a cat.

I didn’t want a cat, but my wife did, so we got a cat. While it is very cute, it is also a major hazard to a house full of breakables and collectables. Several lovely items have suffered her wrath since she arrived, including not one, but two of my gaiwans.

First she broke my beautiful red wedding gaiwan, pictured in previous posts then she broke my small single session gaiwan I use when watching television. And so my wife (yes my wife, not the cat as she loves to claim) bought me this beautiful new gaiwan to replace what the demon spawn has destroyed.

I absolutely love this one. It’s perfect for single sessions using a slightly larger cup and good sessions of two or three people. The color and detail is flawless and comes one a beautiful matching base which also acts as a water catcher when not using a tea tray or basin. It fits perfectly in the hand and allows for lots of control when pouring tea.

Hopefully this gaiwan gets to stick around for a while, and more so, hopefully the stupid cat doesn’t find her way to my $200 gaiwan.

I spent an entire day drinking this tea. Opening bell at 9:59am. Forced myself to stop at 5:12pm. Still going was the tea. Floating through ferns and moss forest I soaked up sun like lizard like butterfly. Headphone levels creeping up louder. Shoulder shimmies. Awkward dude dance moves. Makin’ beats. Feelin’ the vibe, feelin’ myself. Kick drum. Snare. High hats. I want em’ nineties gold-school hip hop and I want em syncopated trap. F-it, throw em’ both in. Sample the vocals. Single along real quiet. Pan it so it almostkindasorta sounds like I can sing. 25g sample Runnin’ like $47. This means I use a small gaiwan. Oh, fresh kiln unload has just the thing? Perfect. First two pours the pitcher runneth over. Then the leaf expanded and the proportions were juusssssst right. Goldilocks and the three bears kinda right. Coffee shop owner friend walked me home from the concert. Two dudes sweaty on a hot summer night. Heard of puerh but didn’t know how to pronounce it. Open to it, but, like, you know… just opened a second location and has 22 employees and his son just turned fifteen and how long does this gongfuchathing take? Proud of his roast, he confesses to feeling jittery and anxious. I hold my tongue. Tongue tied is something I’m not often. This tea got me feelin’ like cobra like viper. Kingly. The buff Miss Amy is ticklish ???? Who would have ever known 😏 I guess we need to tie her down and see when the fluffy purple feathers are tickling her strong muscles if she can break free. Especially under those toes. Also if the queen bulges up we need to tickle her all over too Especially under her crown and the jewelry. It's time for Miss Amy to attend her "special" workout session.

Ghhhmmmhhh~!!! No no nooooo!!! You can't work me out likeee thissss and yahhh I maybe wrote a couple of teasing machine workout stories but that doesn't mean I need one!! Because you knoww those tickles are just gonna make me struggle and flex and fightttt and get sooo sasssyyy even though I know it's a losing battlee~! All my preparation means nothing when the tickles start I just mmh find I can'tt focus my energy at all and yet I tryyy and then the royal teasess? The sun is shining and spring is definitely in the air, just what we need for an awesome tea session outside! ⠀ Here is the survival kit you’ll need for the great Tea Outdoors : ⠀ Teaware. A teapot or Gaiwan, and teacups is all you will really need.
