Seringkali kita belajar pada hal-hal yang sebenarnya kita sudah mengetahuinya. Tanpa belajar dari seorang gurupun ilmu itu tersebar dimana-dimana. Bahkan terkadang kita meremehkan. Mengapa saya harus memperhatikan saat pembelajaran dikelas sedangkan di internet pengetahuan tersebut dapat dengan mudah ditemukan.

Sebenarnya bukan itu esensi dari belajar. Jika belajar hanya untuk menumbuhkan pengetahuan saja, tak perlu ada sentuhan seorang guru. Belajar saja kita di dunia maya karna pengetahuan ada dimana-mana. Esensi dari ilmu adalah adab. Menghargai mereka yang menyampaikan meskipun mungkin saja membosankan. Tulus mencurahkan waktu untuk belajar, mengalahkan ego sendiri bahwa diri lebih baik dari yang lain. Juga upaya mencintai orang yang berilmu.

Guru adalah pelita. Seburuk apapun mereka pasti ada cahaya yang dibawa. Darinya kita belajar ketulusan meskipun seringkali kita acuhkan. Kadang kita hanya menyerap pengetahuan bukan kebaikan. Seringkali pula kita hanya fokus mengasah isi kepala bukan merawat hati agar tetap tumbuh baiknya. Bagaimana mungkin ilmu itu menyerap ke hati seorang pembelajar sedangkan pada gurunya saja "kurang ajar".

Ketahuilah bahwa ilmu itu melahirkan adab yang baik, bukan kata yang menghardik. Ketahuilah pula keridhoan seorang guru ialah menghasilkan keberkahan ilmu. Tandanya apa? Ia berguna bagi orang disekelilingnya, tutur katanya terjaga dan ia menghargai sesama dengan tindakan bukan sekedar perkataan. Bahkan seringkali tanda keberkahan ilmu adalah ketenangan hati dan jiwa bukan pada riuhnya isi kepala. Keberkahan ilmu itu bukan pada besaran nilai IPK, bukan pula pada luasnya pengetahuan, atau prestasi yang membanggakan. Jikapun itu ada pada diri kita, anggap saja itu bonus. Jangan jumawa apalagi sampai melupakan jasa-jasa mereka. Barangkali sukses yang kita nikmati hari ini adalah bagian dari doa-doa panjang mereka.

Agastya Rishi

Atri Rishi
