this scene is so important to me because post-school mystery mitsuba has just had his main motivations as to be a person, be someone with an identity. hes a whole different entity from mitsuba the og but hes trying so hard to emulate that sense of humanity and this scene is so integral to that because its this exchange of, “you care for me like im a person and not just a jumbled mess of somebody else’s memories” and kou’s reaction to that and realizing this and i just.... guys im not okay

OKAY FUCKERS WE HAVE REACHED 100!!! SOMEONE POP OUT THE HEARTS

this chapter was honestly what I should've expected. mitsukouers we have been fed and are probably going to be put into the closet once more going forwards so let us say thanks for these last few chapters, as well as all the other 99 chapters that came before this one. it's been amazing and I hope it continues to be so!!

now, I'm not one for making long posts myself. however!! this makes for a special occasion so I will have to make do :)

!!! SPOILERS FOR TOILET BOUND HANAKO-KUN CHAPTER 100 !!!

So,

this chapter was great! Though as always I wished that there had been more, what we got was a... pretty satisfying close to this arc.

I will say, as much as I loved what did happen, it felt like it was missing something. Like there was a part of this chapter bring held back. (and no I don't mean that there wasn't a mitsukou kiss this chapter, though that of course was missed as well)

I feel like they really needed to talk more about... well... fucking everything I guess? but, then again, it is so like them to not say shit even when its so important for them to communicate about it (i.e. the way they refuse to address the way they are both for sure going insane at this point, kou seemingly giving up on thinking about his morality when it comes to caring for mitsuba, mitsuba clearly only wanting kou to exorcize him regardless of the bs he said about teru being fine too, tsukasa, etc etc). I would've loved to see them have some proper talks about all of that and more, but also I can't see them doing that in anyway that wouldn't feel ooc and wrong for them.

Mitsuba and Kou just don't do that.

Or at least, not anymore.

Before, I'm sure there would have been some sort of talking. Something just shy of an argument maybe or a full on breakdown.

But now I think it's a bit late for that.

They were both already teetering off and on the edge by the time the severance happened and I think after all of that I think any chance of having proper communication about all the shit they've been through together, for each other, and what bullshit they'll pull going into the future is off the god damn ledge kou jumped from in That One Chapter.

The ending of this chapter solidified this for me more than anything else I think. We got Kou basically asking Mitsuba to live if only to come with him to the school festival, if for nothing else, which is for sure going to be the next Big Event Thing. and then at the very end Mitsuba mentions being hungry and Kou replies with silence which makes me think that their night isn't over yet, and Kou is beyond prepared to get his hands dirtier to help him. This probably won't be addressed, at least not by these two directly after last chapter. If anything I'm kinda hoping Teru will be the one to do it but that's neither here nor there.

All in all, this was a pretty useless ramble of me basically saying I love mitsukou (derogatory) and that they are every reason for my unwell mind.

Anyways mitsukou is canon I'm the heart Mitsuba ate thanks for coming to my Ted talk

TBHK CHAPTER 109 SPOILERS (ENDING)

Analysis + mini theory

don’t click if you don’t want to be spoiled !!

I’m the self proclaimed #1 Akane fan and like this chapter has destroyed me. It’s sent me PACING around my room just thinking about it.

This going to be all over the place, very long and probably a bit hard to read but I’ll keep it together as best as I can.

The Yorishoro situation. Akane human with human insides and obviously if ripped open he’ll die but as a clock keeper does he have similar insides to Mirai and Kako? They easily were defeated as that. Being the only clock keeper left and everywhere else checked it makes sense that he’s the one with the yorishoro. However it feels so weird for that to even be an option.

Kako and Mirai have been No.1 longer than Hanako has been No.7 as stated here,

so why hide it inside Akane? They had somewhere else to hide it so why didn’t they keep it there? (unless there was a repeating cycle of getting a new student to be the Present). She still has yet to have that talk with him as well. *

(chapter 25)

I feel it’s important to address this in relation. Akane states that the Clock Keepers tricked him into accepting his role by attempting to harm Aoi (and accuses Hanako of forcing Yashiro into working for him through trickery). He was only starting out middle school at the time of the incident, so it’s potentially been inside of him since then. Did they want him specifically to hide the yorishoro? What would it even be? My immediate thought was it would be Aoi related, but this is the yorishoro for all of them, and precedes Akane.

There is the potential it is maybe the pocket watch he carries which is a likely option. It allows him to stop time, and each yorishoro are deeply connected to the mysteries. Being able to protect/watch Aoi with it is important to him. And similar reasons may be for Kako and Mirai. I also question how he could even see the supernaturals prior to becoming one and it made sense to me; he’s going to die.

Death. Now onto my main reason for this entire post. I’m 100% certain at this point someone is going to die. Akane is a high contender and here’s my reasoning. He needs special glasses to allow him to continue going on as a student without seeing supernaturals. Yashiro can only see supernaturals because she is set to die within the following year.

Akane goes on to explain that the supernaturals aren’t like them and don’t care what happens to them, a hint at that he knows that he’d potentially die in the future or that I’m reading too much into it. Of course he could have that sixth sense, without being an exorcist, like Teru or Kou but with how high the stakes are for the next chapter it is very likely he’s going to die, in my opinion. But he’s only one of my two options.

My second option is Teru, and it’s mainly because of these panels back during the semester finals.

(chapter 59)

why would he feel the need to say this? As far as I know, the near future he talks about hasn’t happened yet even though we’re 50+ chapters and I believe more than 5 arcs in). Teru assumes Kou will come to Akane, but why him and not his older brother? Unless Teru knew he was going to die. He’s been pretty unphased for most of this current arc despite the circumstances. So, here are my two options for how the next chapter goes. 1. tsukasa gets to akane

2. akane is protected again tsukasa

And who better to protect Akane than the exorcist himself? Those two are much closer to each other than the others with them being Student Council and often seen together. And despite any grudge towards Akane Teru might have, I’m certain he’d still jump in to protect him. He’s human before he’s supernatural. In the above photos Teru mentions that Kou will ask for Akane’s aid but then says that in a more specific way, to protect Kou with ‘all of your powers’. There’s the possibility Teru does die and Kou goes to Akane to try and bring him back but is in danger OR it has something to do with Yashiro.

What’s weird to me is how he specifies all of Akane’s powers. As far as reader knowledge, his power only affects the present by stopping time for 5-10 minutes, as well as enhanced physical strength. Either he has more powers up his sleeve that we’ve yet to see or he takes the role of No.1 entirely and inherits the other two Clock Keeper’s powers if they’re gone for good. It just feels very weird for someone to say that out of the blue if they don’t have even a tiny idea of their fate.

Also read that there could be a dark backstory/history reveal and god I want it to be one of them so bad I need more Akane content 🙏

* This could become a plot point with how the current arc is going (and if he survives)

this is a very long theory post

chainsaw man manga spoilers for all of part 1 and the beginning of part 2

i think Angel is actually the death devil

the most obvious piece of evidence that i have is: why is Angel so powerful? devils gain power from fear, but humans arent necessarily scared of angels. i heard someone say Angel was meant to represent christian fear of god, but wouldn’t that be a god devil, not an angel devil?

but angels are connected to death. the “angel of death” that brings people to the afterlife, angels in heaven, god’s soldiers, etc.. many depictions of angels directly connect them with death

Angel, as a character, is highly connected to death. his only power is bringing death to those around him

Angel also serves as a character foil to Makima in some ways, but why would a relatively minor side character act as a parallel to the main antagonist of part 1?

the biggest connection between the two i can think of is the fact that Makima went out of her way to erase Angel’s memories after having him kill everyone in his village

reminder about Makima - she can only control people who believe they are weaker than her. she cannot command anyone who knows they are stronger than her (this is why Power was capable of breaking her control in chapter 91. first of all, Makima never commanded her, just asked her to follow orders. and even if it was a command, Power was arrogant enough to believe herself stronger than Makima)

if Angel was one of the horsemen, Makima would have to erase his memories of that if she wanted him to control him. otherwise she would have no reason to erase his memories (i would say the reason she was able to control him that first time because he was new to earth, with highly limited memories, and didn’t know the full extent of his power. therefore he doesnt see himself as strong because he doesnt know how strong he truly is)

also reminder that the horsemen dont always recognize each other (Yoru couldn’t recognize Fami at first) so Angel probably wouldn’t have recognized Makima

after Angel regains his memory though, hes able to break Makima’s control over him

if only for a moment, hes confirmed to be stronger than her

but Makima is a smart woman - she knows Angel still most likely doubts himself and his strength. thats why her last command is telling Angel to submit to her; by admitting inferiority, control is much easier

Makima, despite being just slightly weaker than him, is capable of playing her cards right so she can use him

Angel was certainly been cagey with Makima even before this, and he’s been shows to disobey her commands as well:

she vaguely acknowledges it, but she brushes it off because she doesnt want to make Angel suspect that hes more than just an angel - that would ruin her plans for him

Makima chooses to primarily use Angel’s powers in the final fight against the chainsaw devil, even though she had hundreds of other people and abilities to pick from

and in this scene we also see Angel is much stronger than any other devil we’ve seen

what are those - creatures? im sorry has Angel been able to CREATE LIFE this whole time? no other devil has been able to do this!

even the sword she makes with Angel’s power is bigger than herself

and this sword only used 100 years to create, which seems like a lot to us until you realize that Angel would need ~20 minutes to drain that from people. less than four hours and he would have enough lifespan to create that weird-creature-sun-turning-black thing. he could do that 5-6 times in a single day if constantly in contact with people. that is horrifically powerful

also, in the actual bible, the death horseman is said to primarily attack with a sword, and every weapon Angel makes (except for the kill beam) is a sword

now heres the biggest question i posed to myself while writing this: why is he an angel, then?

i think Angel chose his own appearance.

for evidence, ill be using the theory that the four horsemen are connected to the four emotions that only humans can feel (conquest = worship, war = guilt, famine = respect, death = pity)

if Angel were death, then he would have a strong connection to pity. and well he certainly does, as he is seen to be incredibly uncomfortable with hurting or killing humans. but he pities humans and occasionally agrees to put them out of their misery (or, if he can, get someone else to do it. in chapter 42 Angel convinces Aki to kill a dying man for him by lying, but the truth behind his words is that he doesnt want to see a human suffer, and he doesnt want to hurt them himself). we see his care for humans in chapters 42 (just explained), 49 (he puts a dying woman out of her misery and apologizes to the corpse), 52 (kills Reze by himself rather than bringing Aki along, because he “doesn’t want to make Aki kill a girl”)

also, going back to his physical appearance, i believe his love for humanity led to him wanting to take on a “nicer” appearance rather than a being of death. he chooses to look like a young girl because he doesnt want to scare humans. and angels are nice, humans generally like angels, so looking like an angel would benefit him if this was his goal, no? (again, Angel is incredibly powerful, i have no doubt he would be able to change his own appearance). i also believe this could make up for the fact that hes the only horseman with non-distinct eyes and the only male horseman (transmasc angel devil w)
