IM OBSESSED WITH THE NEST FICLET. Im literally screaming. I READ it in one go and I can't wait for another chapter. It's so good!!! I love that eddie's the omega and steve's the alpha. <3 and the idea is so sweet! I wonder how they will handle their feelings during Eddie's heat. 😋😋😋<3
I HAVE MY SOLID REASONS FOR MY OMEGA/ALPHA HEADCANONS, and tbh they're flexible depending on how i feel on the day.
but
Eddie should be an omega in my OWN opinion because:
and nobody has to agree.
He voluntarily has this whole little pack of people younger than him, his own lil pups, adopted cause he's not gotten laid (YET, he stands firm on it being YET, it'll happen he's sure of it, someday) but he has pups so he's content.
His room is a cluttered chaotic mess of things. Are they all his things? maybe, maybe not, that room could easily be messy because he's keeping things within reach so he can easily make a nest out of all that stuff when the need strikes.
He saw two scared freshmen and decided "imma adopt them" and then did. He's more in touch with how people are feeling, and able to comfort them without being too overbearing or pushy, emotions may be tricky but he's really good at the soft ones that make people feel comforted when they're upset, he's good at being silly to make people laugh. He's soft.
He's touchy, and struggles with keeping to personal space. He bundles up in layers upon layers for comfort rather than preening and dressing solely to look good.
While he's loud, and expressive, he's also very quick to hide in a corner when shit gets real scary, pls someone protecc him.
Steve should be an alpha in my own opinion because:
He has followers. People who crowd around him just to bask in his popularity. Not people he adopted, just people who want to be him, want to be like him. King Steve. He has natural charisma. He's a presence that stands out.
He's a tank of a human being. He takes hit after hit after hit that should definitely take a person out but he just keeps coming back.
He's a caretaker in bed, protective, and comforting, mf held Nancy's hand good lord, yet he's still in charge, he's on top.
His pack adopted him, yet they still look to him as the protector, he wasnt adopted like a beta without a pack, he is an alpha, they didnt have an alpha, he's now their alpha.
He makes sure he looks good, his hair is always on point, his skin looks good, his body is always in good shape (soft but the type of softeness hiding those muscles that make you bite your own fist), he's trying to impress people, omega's dont need to impress, they need to be the ones impressed.
He doesnt seem to need a lot of material possessions, doesnt have enough clutter or personal belongings to make a nest, and he doesnt seem to put much thought into keeping other peoples belongings either.
Like i know we like to HC that the vest is in Steve's closet, but if it was left upto Steve, it's absolutely been left either in that RV, or in a random corner in The Warzone. One of the kids might have grabbed it after he left it, but if Steve was on his own? It's gone.
-----------------------
there's a lot of ambigious traits too that could be placed in both the Alpha or the omega column, but the majority of actual canon behaviours rather than the fanon people shove on these boys (Mr 'Oi Shitheads!' Steve yelling at the kids for bad language? Or Mr 'imma hide in this boat and scamper like a weird lil wet cat away from my problems' Eddie being big and domineering? C'mon man)
they paint a fun little picture.
like i said, these are MY own headcanons, my own interpretations, y'all dont have to agree with any of it. That's the beauty of omegaverse,
The canon is made up and the rules dont matter.

im so sorry to send you this but im confused. i thought izzy hands was obviously homophobic while i was watching the show but now people on the internet are telling me that calling him gay and homophobic is a conspiracy theory. i want to trust my instincts on this as a queer myself but they say it so much i think im starting to believe it. i know literally none of this matters but its genuinely bumming me out. maybe we all just have slightly different definitions of homophobia?
I would love to answer this for you. Your instincts are correct. Izzy is gay and homophobic. You should trust your gut on this because it's important for you be able to identify guys like Izzy irl if you're someone who might be on the receiving end of homophobia.
What happened is that back in June of 2022 everyone fully agreed that Izzy was one of those repressed gay men who's internalized homophobia rotted his soul and became externalized. We wanted to put him in a jar. We all interested in how this weird little freak got this way. Then everything changed when the canyon formed. Since then it has been a mad dash to beat the allegations. Unfortunately an actor has validated them in a way that makes me really wonder about him frankly, because he seems to be operating under the impression that people are saying that Izzy is a "homo sex is sin" Style homophobe when nobody was saying that, what we were saying is that Izzy is incredibly weird about and hateful towards feminine men and he believes that Stede is corrupting Ed with his foppishness, which is still homophobia it's just a different brand of homophobia than the religious right's obsession with the mechanics.
Tbh tho I don't actually care about that actors' take because he's not a writer, he has a history of not being very good at reading the subtext given that he fully didn't realize it was a gay show for half the episodes, and David Jenkins has liked multiple metas on twt about Izzy being a homophobe so I'll trust that lol. The only consequence that Con O'Neill being publically wrong has had for me is that people occasionally do an unearned victory lap when he says something.
But also I low key sometimes feel incredibly unsafe knowing that there's a substantial group of people who claim to be queer and against homophobia but who can't understand that the whole subplot with Lucius in episode 5 and the thing with Ed in episode 10 is laced with bigotry against feminine gay men. I don't think admitting that means you have to think it's his only motivation or that it's contradictory to the read of him being attracted to Ed and Lucius or with the concept that he's mostly just power hungry, but it does sort of mean that I have to move through the world knowing that there are people in my own community who would fully blame me if something happened to me. I don't fucking like it. That's why I get so upset about this so publicly. It's like so what happens if I get attacked but the guy calls me a namby pamby or a bitch instead of a faggot. Are you gonna be like "well we don't know~". It's just an uncomfortable thought. I don't understand why they're so desperate to beat the allegations either, like he's fake. People who have experienced things like what Ed and Lucius went through at his hands are real. The argument that gay people can "do something to (someone)'s brain" is written into legislation trying to ban trans people from public life. Nobody wants you to stop liking Izzy we just want you to stop saying shit that's harmful
And I don't necessarily think that everyone who chooses to put more emphasis on Izzys obsession with Ed wouldn't be able to identify a hate crime, I just have seen more than one piece of meta that goes "Izzys not homophobic he just thinks Stede is a mincing fop who's corrupting Ed with his frilly whiles there's nothing homophobic about that" and I just have to block them for being homophobic themselves because what else do I do with that? When I vague post about this shit I'm talking about specific ass things that I've seen that have made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe not generic canyon trends. I just really feel like we need to calm down about Izzy. Like you can feel empathy towards a gay guy that hates himself and write a bunch of fic about him getting laid without deciding actually he did nothing wrong and everyone who can see that that's not true is making shit up to oppress *checks notes* people who like a fictional character. I don't get why that's so hard to do.

Who unlocks their nimpo first? And would any of them unlock it using it against splinter?
OK OK okkk soo i haven't exactly figured it out yet, a lot of elements of this au are still pretty floaty (for example: what the hell is Draxum's whole deal??) BUT I can say that if any of them were pressed in, say, a fight, Raph would 100% be the first one to fully realize his powers. the only way someone else would unlock theirs first would be if Leo was trying to protect Splinter for some reason (which would be really angsty cause Splinter would be SOOO proud of Leo for unlocking his powers and talk about how that proves that Leo is So Super Special, which would piss off everyone else lmao)
so yeah, either Raph protecting his brothers (aww) or Leo protecting Splinter (eww). Or theoretically both at the same time, if its in the same fight.
I do like the idea of others getting little glimpses of their powers first, like mikey's hand sparking with energy or Donnie's tech glowing in a way that insinuates its been infused with hamato ninpo, but i think the first real BAM BOOM would be either Leo or Raph.
im not sure if the powers would be the same as in rise though, but if i'm gonna change them up i'll need time to think about it.
if anyone WERE to unlock it against splinter, I think that'd be Mikey.
Leo loves splinter, even after he realizes Rat Dad sucks. Raph is angry that Splinter is a shit dad, but he loves his brothers more than he hates Splinter. Tbh he'd probably prefer to just run away (like he tried to when he was younger) than confront Splinter. Donnie has long given up on his relationship with Splinter and actively seeks out other adults to get attention/praise from (which ends up with him in some really bad situations but we can get to that later)
But Mikey is emotional about Splinter. Mikey isn't just mad that Splinter is a shitty dad, he's furious. He's a volcano of anger who's fury could rival Raphs if he ever let it out. He hates that Splinter made their lives so much harder than they had to be for NO reason he can percieve, he hates that he doesn't understand why Splinter does the things he does. He fumes silently as he watches Splinter mistreat everyone, even Leo.
and i think it makes sense for him to hate Splinter that much, cause Mikey is the least favorite. he's the most "annoying" and he's the one who can't even be useful to Splinter, like Donnie or Raph, let alone beloved like Leo. Mikey hasn't wanted to impress Splinter since he was like 9 years old. Mikey has violent fantasies about ripping their dad to shreds and screaming at him and all that shit that happens when you've been abused. He wants closure and he knows he'll never get it and it makes him wanna just KILL Splinter.
anyway sorry for the ramble, hope that answers your question.

(okay caveat here is idk if theres actually something planned for the christmas special that i dont know about that solves the problem im having with this but:)
aaaahhh okay i just finished the final doctor who 60th anniversary episode, and like I love the Tennant Doctor, I love Donna, and as much as part of me likes seeing them happy it just...it just did not work for me as a ending. Like it feels honestly like it's doing a huge disservice to the new Doctor? To be like "actually there's another one still around who is ostensibly still a full Time Lord, with a TARDIS and everything"? Like okay- I will buy the Toymaker and his weirdo reality warping abilities causing regeneration to act abnormally, fine. But what I honestly think would have been better and feel less like a convoluted mess and also be less of a disservice to the new version of the character would be if, after we get that moment of closure between 14 and 15 on top of the tower (which was very sweet and I did like), now that the Toymaker is gone his reality-altering powers also fade and the regeneration has to happen properly, and 14 fades away, having received some closure, to become part of 15 again.
But even if it had been more like the Metacrisis Doctor- 14 doesn't get to keep the TARDIS (the TARDIS duplication thing was probably my least favorite part of the whole sequence tbh), he definitively loses the ability to regenerate (idk if thats implied at all? but it definitely wasn't outright stated), something like that- he's still closer to being the proper "Doctor" than the Metacrisis one but it's still a more closed ending that wouldn't feel like it was somehow kind of undermining the idea that 15 is the new "real" Doctor.
I did still like the special on the whole and I do still look forward to the new episodes (and I thought Ncuti Gatwa left a really good first impression in terms of his performance and characterization! I really really look forward to seeing more of 15!!) but this one part just felt so off to me.

Ima assume Timmy REALLY likes her cuz nt only his fans r clowning him bt multiple outlets 🥴 like damn ik his publicist r like wtf lmao i found it interesting that right after that British Vogue article (that i think got deleted?) that was going IN on kylie and another article saying they brokeup THEN made their debut. Just seems very calculated.
Im curious if kylothee expected the "tomdaya" treatment (where most ppl, fans or just locals) really love them or if they expected backlash from their relationship
Yea i mean (almost) 2 yrs really aint much tbh bt this is Kaias longest relationship so i guess thats good lol ive heard so many rumors about the JE/Kaia breakup bt i dnt think anybody cared enough about their relationship to really investigate 😭 JE taking all his gfs to the same place and JE allegedly beimg a cheater was prob the most publicity Jakaia relationship got besides their constant pap pics lol nobody was really checkin for them like that. Austin/Kaia r a pretty couple bt they def give "off" vibes. They make sure to always b photographed (on a after party carpet or irl)
Lol! 😆
Omg.....You brought up SO MUCH with this one ask Anon 😅 I'm gonna have to HIDE my response below so that it doesn't take up a whole scrolling page lol.
Re: Timmy/Kylie....
Yea, I mean, they might very well be a real couple that's just using each other for publicity. That DOES happen in Hollywood...a LOT actually lol.
But yea, that Vogue article that got deleted all of a sudden def seemed like a "management team" request lol 🤭 I just know Kris was HOT that day! 🤣
Im curious if kylothee expected the "tomdaya" treatment (where most ppl, fans or just locals) really love them or if they expected backlash from their relationship
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rofl!! 🤣
Omg..... now that you mention it lol.... What if that was their intent all along? 🤔 Cuz that would be hilarious asl if so lol.
"Oh yea, let's HIDE as a couple, like, BARELY see each other, and that way we keep people guessing see, and then, once we've had people guessing long enough, we'll stage an 'outing' or being 'caught' and we can get more publicity..... yea, that's it..." 😏
Tumblr media
Look, NO celebrity couple is touching the cuteness of Tomdaya, sorry lol. And their hiding wasn't fabricated lol.
Re: Jakaia & Kaustin
Yea i mean (almost) 2 yrs really aint much tbh bt this is Kaias longest relationship so i guess thats good lol
Yea I'm shocked too cuz it is her longest lol. Plus, idk why, but I always got the impression she was into girls lol 👀 But hey, maybe she's bi. 🤷🏾‍♀️
ive heard so many rumors about the JE/Kaia breakup bt i dnt think anybody cared enough about their relationship to really investigate 😭
Wait... what rumors did you hear about the Jakaia breakup? 👀 Cuz I didn't hear much. All I heard was SHE dumped HIM lol. 🤭
JE taking all his gfs to the same place and JE allegedly beimg a cheater was prob the most publicity Jakaia relationship got besides their constant pap pics lol nobody was really checkin for them like that.
Rofl I remember that lol 😆 🤣
It's funny cuz I could def see I strongly suspected that JE was benefiting from being associated with her and her family, because while he was dating Kaia, he STAYED in W magazine rofl 🤣 (her family is affiliated with the magazine).
I kept wondering how he was always getting all this publicity (even during the awards season), when he didn't even have ANY filming projects that were being released that year lol, like what?? 🤣
Austin/Kaia r a pretty couple bt they def give "off" vibes. They make sure to always b photographed (on a after party carpet or irl)
Right?? Lol 😅
Like, they may be 100% genuine as anything, but some things recently just make me go: "hmm...." 🤔
The fact that paps knew exactly where to be outside of Karlie Kloss's house so that they could get those perfect shots of Kaia holding the baby in the backyard lol.
Birthday Cake Gate lol 🤭
The fact that paps sometimes know exactly where they're gonna be, even BEFORE they have reached their destination lol 😅
The fact that they seem to look super happy together on the red carpet, but whenever you see them papped out and about, they look = 😐
Maybe it's all just coincidence, but either way, I def feel like they're probably mutually benefitting from being with each other. Plus, the Gerbers are wealthy, so it doesn't hurt to make friends in wealthy places lol 😏
I've always heard that Kaia's family supposedly has some "deal" with the Daily FAIL, and even paps themselves will tell you that 9 times out of 10, a lot of these celebs are giving the paps a heads up notice on where they will be. 🤷🏾‍♀️
Hollywood is a game of smoke and mirrors lol 😆 So, I don't blame ppl if they play the game sometimes.

Chris rewatches and liveblogs the awful The Last Airbender movie for the first time since it was released 13 years ago
ok I saw this once when it was in theatres when I was in high school and I never watched it again. I remember being disappointed and uncomfortable originally
I only remember Aang was pronounced differently and Katara was some blonde chick I remember literally nothing else so here we go
oh damn ok right away the bending animation is kind of giving but the weird cursive stylization of the element names in the intro… not a fan bc my bad Chinese reading self can’t read it and I wonder if that’s even like a real style lol I wouldn’t be surprised either way
Also like just KEEP the TV intro instead of plagiarising but a little to the left?? sorry I know I’m nitpicking
Why are Katara and Sokka like MAGA-white that’s SO uncomfy
Sokka is not giving me the correct vibes
Why would Katara go with Sokka to go hunting?? p sure that happened in the cartoon too but ???
Already changing my mind about the costumes and possibly the Sokka vibes
Okay Aangs tattoos fuck actually
Okay yeah the tone of this whole thing is so boring I can’t put my finger on it yet like something is DEFINITELY missing
Okay yeah the costumes suck
ZUKO??? why is his hair so boring why is his scar so tiny
Gran Gran is white too?? but all the other villagers aren’t lololol okayyyyy
First impression of the sets (like the SWT village were good) but actually they suck they make ZERO sense there are just like open windows and no door?? But it’s cold outside???
OH NO what did this film do to Appa I’m so sorry sweetie look how they’ve massacred my boy
IS THAT UNCLE IROH IM AHSJDKLFNFGSJSKD
EEROH again I guess that’s more accurate but WHY
The vibes in this movie are all off lolol how did Nickelodeon endorse this?????
Still not sure why this feels so flat like I really don’t care about anything happening?? Maybe bc the original show is so character driven and this movie hasn’t even let us get to know any of the characters?? I remember thinking the first time I watched this that it moves way too fast so I guess this all could come down to a pacing problem
Gran Gran’s explanation to like send them after Aang makes no sense at all actually
I know they were trying to be like accurate with the costumes (a laugh tbh) but I do think it was a mistake to get rid of the color associations
MOMO OH NO I’m so sorry sweetie
Again with the air temple set, the vibes are right but it doesn’t look quite like anything I ever saw in SEA or in research...
The sequence where he finds out the airbenders are gone is pretty good. Seems they could do more with that than in the show but okay now he’s having some weird vision with a dragon????
Wait Soe-ka? Knock it off w the names I s2g where is the franchise continuity
Are the gonna explain the weird ass dragon vision??
The FN ships are so bad
Zhao is not creepy enough. Asshole enough though.
I KNOW I’m nitpicking but even the food seems wack
Weird that the firebenders seem to be only able to manipulate fire here, not create it
I do wonder about the authenticity of the costumes. I’ve heard they suck but I’d be fooled which begs the question, why not just BE authentic to the cultures they’re supposed to represent
Is it the acting that’s flat here, the writing, or the directing? Whose fault is it??
Interesting choice to have the earthbenders imprisoned within reach of their own element. I kind of like that, showing how defeated their spirits really are
Of course they gave away Katara’s motivational speech
These bending motions CANNOT be based on real martial arts lmfao it seems so clunky
Wild how I just don’t care about any of these characters lol
The writing isn’t ALL bad like I actually like the way different plot elements were connected for the sake of the movie but the execution is just so bad
Princess Yue leads the NWT? Again… a Choice
Wild how they are leaving the best episodes out of this narrative. Like the ones that gave the characters life
LOVE that there’s an African-inspired Earth Kingdom village, I’ve been thinking about this concept a lot actually
Why does the Fire nation look like that?? Why does Ozai look like that??? Why are we introducing Ozai already I don’t like that choice either???
I HATE the Fire Nation aesthetic SO MUCH
Ozai is not evil enough AT ALL
I DO like the creative directions they took w diversity in the Earth Kingdom like in different towns
AGNI KEE I’m
Aww lil Azula is cute
What a weird ass way to fit in Zuko’s backstory. Again, I don’t find myself caring about it at all
Starting to really hate the bending actually. The elements don’t seem to be interacting w the movements of the bender at all
The statue room looks cool
The dragon again wtfff
The Blue Spirit. Cool but it doesn’t hit as hard bc we don’t CARE about Zuko or his past and tbh it probs won’t make any sense to a casual viewer anyway
Also why does his mask need to come with a wig I mean it looks so unserious
Iroh just creeps me out idek why
OH we’re blowing up Zuko’s ship NOW okayyy
Aww some Sokka/Yue vibes but it’s a real shame I don’t give a shit about this version of Sokka
I think one reason I don’t like this version of bending is it takes so much handwavinv before anything even starts happening
Not digging this NWT aesthetic either tbh
Pakku??? Why does he look like cheap knock off Theodin? Why is he like… nice???
Why is Aang trying to talk to this Dragon Spirit and not like… Roku?
Wild how the one thing they left the same from the actual show was how Zuko snuck into the NWT lol
Hate the spirit oasis, actually
Least helpful Dragon Spirit ever
Cool that iroh is the one who can make fire out of nothing (he obviously taught Zuko) but lolol what a random time to do that
Okay the scene between Yue and Sokka before she turned into the moon was nice. Probably the most emotion we’ve seen in the whole movie
More morbid that her body is still there though lol
And no Ocean Spirit to fuck things up??
Drowning someone w waterbending is very dark but actually a great touch
I like this idea of Aang mourning his people and using that to harness his waterbending and then he can beat the FN on his own without a spirit’s help. That’s nice.
Also the music for that scene was nice. The only good soundtrack all movie too
So he’s just scaring them with water?? Lmaoooooo not even like killing anyone they just all ran away?? that’s actually…. A fucking terrible plot point never mind
Sweet he gets another chance to like. Accept his role as avatar and bow back to everyone?
AZULA
Okay yeah that was AWFUL

Something something requested post about gabby
Ive like talked a little about stuff related 2 her identity problems ☝️ ✌️ and everything but like. vague hand motions heres the whole thing:;;;
Tbh im not sure where it started but to me its a mix of her ties to dionysus being expression and emotions and me just projecting onto her. her powers are focused on influencing others and manipulating things rather than just nature or art so shes like. full of chaos. not even in a silly personality trait way its literally just built into her. thats what her powers are. chaos and change. thats what she embodies. [which contrasts angels motif of calmness and cowardice and brings a cool balance to their relationship]
so obviously that and having bipolar disorder can make things messy sometimes and she struggles with truly being happy with her friendships. which is bad on its own but these also make her really cling to predictability and the idea of being in control (most obvious ex. is taking the role of leader during the quest for herself and planning out everything they do) which like. is related to the uncertainty she feels towards herself and her future cuz shes like getting closer to being an adult [and also the age lots of demigods dont make it very far past but she hasnt had to worry much about that until now] but really isnt ready to do that nor does she have any real passion for any job or thing related to it. shes just focused on finishing highschool and then she’ll have to worry about that. which she hated cuz yk. Mentioned stuff.
so basically its lots of Wow this is a lot of emotions about stuff with me in it. But who am i even. What is my purpose what am i supposed to do. Why is the world like this i dont want to do adult things. I dont even know what those adult things are or how they work.
i wanna say there were some v small thoughts about this pre-demigod stuff happening [mostly just about if people like her or not or how tf to make friends rather than everything else] and it just like got 10x worse once they did start cuz it like ruined what good she had goin. duh
and going with the linked post where i apologize to gabby she also has the dumbest smart person in the room problem where yes she Is very smart and good at problem solving and fighting but she also feels like shes not very useful or impressive when in certain groups [like how angel and jade have more knowledge about greek myths and nature than her] so its like. Hm is she really all that if she can only shine when surrounded by people less competent than she. also the guilt mentioned in said post is like related to this too cuz she wants to look cool and be inteligent and awesome yet also could come off as stuck up or a showoff or something cuz of how much she wants to be looked up to by others and be complimented
i think the last thing i have to say about it is how she does a lot of avoiding like. as a coping thing. like 2 examples i have so far for p1 would be the whole forced quest thing as an excuse to leave camp and not deal with violet or jack or anyone else who could bring up the fight and then the breakdown talk with angel (though its less avoiding and more finally snapping from all the pushing away) … and like maybe the bedrotting on their first summer there could count since she didnt wanna go out and see her dad or engage in any camp things but idk. maybe the thing w her stepdad too
Anyway yeah this post took forever cuz i was working on it on and off lollll sorry been busy (so obv disclaimer sorry if it sounds weird cuz i kind of just continued my thoughts between hour long pauses. im not rereading my lore posts bro thats what ive got notes and memorized info for….)

Can you maybe (only if you want to) rank Taylor’s albums and maybe also explain why you’d rank them like that?
oh okay ill try
evermore - my beloved, i love how every single song has such a strong identity if that makes sense. like there's this common debate that evermore is the better album but folklore has better songs? i think folklore has a strong identity as an album but the songs dont as much as evermore. every song is so unique and lives in it's own world and i LOVE taylors voice with real instruments and her storytelling is peaked here.
folklore - everything that i said about evermore basically but slightly less. i love the vibes she was able to capture and the whole album paints such a picture- i've always felt like taylor is at her strongest when she's doing something new and this being such a new place for her (genre and writing wise) shows how refreshed she must have felt.
speak now - the most dramatic, messy and honest album in my opinion. its so late teens/early 20s to me in terms of subject matter and i love when she uses some rock influence in her songs and theres so much guitar in this album i love it. also the fact that it's entirely self written insane.
1989 - a modern classic. this also strengthens my theory that taylor is at her strongest when she's doing something new and challenging. i cant believe the first time she tried pop she came out with style, ootw, blank space, etc.... like wtf. the lyrics arent as poetic as one would hope but there still good and very impressive.
fearless - my baby. there's just something so bittersweet about this album and it's so solid. there's not a lot i would cut (from the standard version... vault tracks are different) and its so wholesome and full of whimsy. i love the production on it too, i think it works with her voice so so well and it's aged beautifully.
midnights - okay heres the thing, every criticism ive seen about this album makes sense and i agree but for some reason after seeing it live... idk i like it a lot. there definitely are skips and i get why people were just unimpressed truly... but some of the songs are so insanely catchy and i like the way her voice sounds... cant explain it.
red - i think this album is really good when you're in a certain place in your life or a certain mood, it's not an everyday album for me. i think it has some of her best ballads/slow songs but the upbeat ones lack for me. the best ones are holy ground and state of grace tbh. plus with how long red tv is... it's a bit overwhelming.
debut - she's cute but she could be improved upon and it's her first album so we can cut her some slack, i love iomwiwy, tim mcgraw, picture to burn, should've said no, our song, etc. she has standouts she's nice.
reputation - this is where we go into the negatives outway the positives. this production is way too much for me, like i said her voice sounds it's best with real instruments underneath is to me- so this really fake manufactured production just doesnt work. it also aged sooo badly to me. this album live is a different story tbh but recorded it's just not my fav. when she's performing it live she adds real instruments and im praying that she does that with the rerecording because it helps so much. the only songs i would literally die for her not to change is lwymmd, dress, so it does, and ready for it. i think dont blame me is so overrated and dont understand why people love it.... im sorry. it's so basic to me... we've seen the whole 'your live is my drug' this so often and the production is basic too... i feel like anyone could be singing it.
lover - my god what this album could have been. this has some of her best and some of her worst. my list of complaints is long. i dont like the production- same reasons as reputation, way too fake and clunky. some of the lyrics are.... wild. the setlist is strange, i would cut like 4 songs tbh. i love cruel summer, inthaf, sygb, lover, london boy and false god.

do you think there's anything to be implied about the quality of rwby's writing and framing in light of how much of the audience misinterprets salem/oz and the role of the gods? i see so many people reading the lost fable as a straightforward condemnation of salem and ozma as a pretty basic tragic hero that it makes me nervous about the future of the show and that IM reading too much into things when i see more nuance in salem. are that many people really that shallow when engaging with rwby? idk
nah people are—well tbh i think what it comes down to mainly is that fandom is not really centered around critical analysis, it’s centered on transformative engagement, and while these are by no means mutually exclusive endeavors they are in fact. Different. analytical vs transformative approaches to the text are different endeavors with different goals requiring different skillsets and can but do not inherently overlap. frankly in fandom spaces i think real textual analysis is not just ancillary but actively discouraged; nobody is quicker to respond to analytical discussions with “it’s not that deep” than a fan who doesn’t like the discussion and there is a noticeable tendency in fandom spaces for any analysis that isn’t 100% ebullient to be read as negativity or critical—e.g. note the frequency with which my reading of ozma is interpreted as character bashing—which isn’t to say that fandoms do not engage analytically at all, but in broad terms there is something of an unspoken… chilliness toward textual analysis in fandom culture. and i am saying this from the perspective of having written a lot of textual analysis and a lot of fanfiction across different fandoms; there is A Pattern. you write a detailed analytical breakdown of your reading of a character and see people tagging it fandom negativity while gushing about the detailed character study you wrote based on that same reading enough times and you start to pick up on the fact that maybe fandoms are not really built for analytical engagement. there is also the whole thing where fandom has an entire category of headcanon predicated on “this thing happened in the text but i don’t like it so no it didn’t” and a second entire category predicated on “this has no basis and is possibly out of character but i like it so happened actually” lmao [TO BE CLEAR THIS IS NOT A VALUE JUDGMENT I HAVE NONSENSE HEADCANONS ALSO ITS FINE.]
anyway this is all fine but! because fandoms devote the bulk of their collective energy into pouring out vast endless streams of like, fanfic and fanart and headcanon and “ship dynamics” [i still do not quite understand what these are] and incorrect quote mills and so forth you tend to get a sort of collective flattening of the text. there is a tendency for characters to be stripped down and reduced to small easily-manageable sets of tropes derived more from aesthetics and first impressions and for any moral complexity to be boiled down to simple black and white and for unique worldbuilding to be smudged a bit until it resembles its nearest recognizable trope. there is a sort of creative entropy. a smooth surface is easier to write on. also sometimes fans do not Obsessively Rewatch The Show four times in the space of a year and over time details get memetically blurred and this, obviously, is detrimental to the overall fidelity-to-canon of popular fanon.
and then like the thing to remember about rwby is it’s a very detail-oriented story, and one that respects its audience. the one downside of that storytelling approach is that fandom is uniquely ill-equipped for it (think about how many people Completely Missed that ironwood was on the express train to fascism land in V4-5 even though. the narrative made it like. hilariously obvious)
In Summary i lived through the fandom where the protagonist after two years of increasingly toxic behavior towards her bestie, charbroiled her friend’s arm into a shriveled blackened husk and not only did not apologize but had a whole episode about being mad at the friend for being upset and then 95% of the fandom was shocked when the friend went “fuck you” and stole the magical artifact whose power was involved in the charbroiling incident all of four episodes later; and almost two years later half the remaining is still Discoursing about how the friend “didn’t have a reason” for betraying the protagonist. tts was a show written with small children in mind. i have witnessed Actual Forty Year Olds insisting that this character’s betrayal was petty and childish. rwby is a lot more tightly-written and nuanced and not a disney princess cartoon and while it does benefit from its fandom not being mostly Disney People the fandom is still. A Fandom. doing what fandoms… do.

ok so i saw the 1776 2022 revival and omg
(spoilers for changes in the new revival. 100% worth it to see it if u can)
first of all: every single person in that show was amazing. literally not a single weak link. costume design: amazing. lighting and set: perfect.
what i liked:
they didn’t modernize it too much. yes there was a whole thing in “the egg” where they projected onto a curtain all the civil rights movements/protests/etc up to the present but other than that (and a couple other times where the characters broke the first wall to adress the crowd) it was fully set in Philadelphia, 1776. also i don’t think that show ever needs to be done with men again. having it all non men made all the voices blend so much better and let them all show off their (insane) talent. also, everyone who had a solo song (ex he plays the violin, lees of old virginia, etc) like went up an octave and showcased their vocals and it was so good.
what i didn’t like:
there honestly wasn’t that much i wasn’t in love with. i think jefferson could have had a little more personality tbh but her violin was incredible so im ok with it.
the true showstoppers of this show were “he plays the violin”, “mama, look sharp”, and “molasses to rum to slaves”. with “he plays the violin”, the actor who plays martha washington used to play christine daae on broadway and it SHOWS. that girl sang that song so perfectly. there were some issues with the pacing of it but i did like how adams and franklin left halfway through and left martha with just jefferson and showed how in love they were. i must say, i was not insanely impressed with martha jefferson’s character until she started singing but i guess it was more in line with who she was in real life rather than a girl like in the movies. also. when they first saw each other they danced. i was hoping for a kiss lmfao.
mama, look sharp:
power. vocals. like it was a powerful song made even more powerful by the godsend vocals. the scene didn’t start off lighthearted like in the movie and i think that was a good choice and when she started singing, billy’s mama (who also played hancock) came out and just started riffing over the instrumentals in a gospel style and good god it was amazing.
molasses to rum to slaves:
this hit so much deeper cause the audience was from boston. it was also so powerful watching the Black actors take off their congress coats and dance in front of the non Black actors. also rutledge put her everything into that song, she performed it and sang it so powerfully. it really cut the new englanders in the show and the audience to their core.
other misc notes and thoughts
southern accents are hot
slavery comes up a lot sooner in the revival; jefferson brings an slave to philadephia and there’s a scene where they’re reading the declaration of independence and when it’s like “we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal” and the slave is on stage and we see just how much of a hypocrite jefferson was.
the new scoring for the orchestra pretty much made the show. it modernized it and, especially with john and abby’s songs, it lifted them from pretty ok to amazing. like the way that the guitar came in. it was so good
jefferson’s coat was clearly a nod to hamilton lmao. it was a very nice coat too. and they gave her a red wig b/c of course
a lot more jefferson playing the violin
john adams was insane. she was just so good
the lees of old virginia was somehow. forgettable? like don’t get me wrong, it was amazing but because everything else was so good, it just happened and then was kind of forgotten
“the egg” got turned from a boring song to a rocking firery song about american revolutions etc it was great. also more violin
hahaha dickinson was such a karen like oh my god i loved it
1776 is kind of a hard show to pull off, what with so few female characters and the time period that it’s in (and the way it kinda glorifies the founding fathers) but i think the newest revival is the gold standard to how it should be performed.
ok i’ve probably forgotten a lot but i genuinely enjoyed it so much and i’m praying so hard that there’s a cast album so i can listen to eryn lecroy sing “he plays the violin” on repeat. and also a proshot. i would v much love a pro shot.

Frost fireside spice!
frost: if you could give some advice to your younger self, what would you say?
i would probably say that its never wrong to stand up for yourself. i probably couldve used a lot of advice at different points lol but i think this would have been relevant at most times.
fireside: if you had your dream wardrobe, what would it look like?
oh man this is kinda tricky tbh. a lot of black for sure lol. probably more chunky sweaters for the winter. a couple pairs of platform shoes. maybe some shorts that arent just jeans i chopped up when they got too short lol. a real leather jacket or two would be awesome.
spice: have you ever encountered a house that you believe to be haunted?
ooh this is a good question. the short answer is kind of? the longer answer is that i definitely had a couple experiences at my moms house when i was younger but i dont think anything was necessarily attached to the house. there was a faint handprint on my bedroom wall that wouldnt go away and was way to big to have been made by anyone who was living there but thats the most house specific thing. the other experiences i had i think were more just things passing through. i got the impression it was a high traffic area. i dont think ive shared these stories on here before so i might expand on this stuff a bit at some point if anyone wants to hear about it
also at the place im living rn every once in a while my stepdad will comment that he heard someone making a lot of noise upstairs when i was the only one home all day and was in my room the whole time and ive noticed that its always in october when this happens but idk if thats anything. the thing that makes me think its potentially spooky is that hes hard of hearing so like it would have to be pretty loud for him to notice but i never hear it and its certainly not me making the noise.
also also when i was a kid the local theater that was made when the town was first built got reopened and that place was hella haunted. my mom was in a lot of plays there and the owner of the place had some kids my age that i was pretty close to for a while so i heard a lot of stories although i never experienced much myself. i did play murder in the dark in the costume room in the attic once after a play but thats unrelated lol
thanks for the ask! i really enjoyed answering these 🧡

i'm just a lurker but i want to say a few things about recent issues..
I'm all for early access as a simmer. I'm strongly against permanent paywalls so high that they go unreleased for years.
However, i really don't understant people being so entitled about the one's hard work and they go like "No, you must share it for free because of EA's TOU" sorry but this is complete bullshit. Since when do you care about EA's TOU? You only care to get that mod/cc for free. If you are so against that people getting some income from cc and mods, why do you even get mad when they delete their cc while leaving the community?
And of course, there are some people saying "get a real job. pixels aren't job". Like excuse me? The "pixels are not being real job" makes the company you are so proudly defending their TOU is making hundreds of thousands dollars a month, if not millions. They share half-ass done packs for 40$ and then stupid 5 piece of kits for 5$ but this is okay right? I mean, don't WE ALL know by now that if it wasn't modders fixing packages and expanding this shits4 possibilities, if it wasn't cc creators making all the pretty hairs, skins, outfits, do you still play this game as all vanilla? I mean, your toddler can be father of your eldest sim, your dog gives advices to your household. What the hell are you talking about while bashing creators?
You are playing the game thanks to their mods, their ccs, their contents. I don't care if it's maxis or alpha cc. You have them in your game. Free or not, you owe them your few "pixels" and few lines of "codes".
No, noone owes money to anyone. But showing support to atleast early access creators (i mean, of course only if you can), showing some respect the ones who share their cc after a couple of weeks (NOT YEARS) wouldn't hurt anyone.
But of course, you love hanging the witch to the stick and burn them to ashes.
Two patches later, i'll see people crying "Ewewewe this mod is not working anymore. Shitty X creator doesn't update their mod anymore because they are all in for moneeey!!!".
You were playing with that said mod for free, for years. You didn't donate a single buck. Heck, you even got all your cc from ts4r****. Once again, i get it. You can't pay everyone for their CC. But you don't get to complain about things you get for free because this is being a choosing beggar. Even if you don't get it for free, and as you think "meh, they are just pixels", why are you trying so hard to get every fking thing for free?
Try to show some respect, some support to cc creators and modders who makes your game any better than f-ing EA shoves down your throat for 40 bucks for a bug pack.
...1... i didn't know tumblr allowed such long asks LMAO im really quite impressed.
i mean I got nothing to add really, I agree with a lot of what u said.
i don't rlly vibe this whole 'show some respect' thing thats been going around tho, u don't have to respect me if I haven't earnt u respect, thats fine by me tbh

IME one of the most common elements of self-insert women-written romance (as opposed to, like, fanfiction, where this still often comes up but not nearly so much), is some kind of great and impressive display of superiority.
Combat is the easiest way to do it: the character is faced with a foe, but easily (if not off-handedly) bests them, to the heroine’s shock. But even in less militaristic settings, the same can be achieved with some sort of blase display of wealth, or even just great skill at some particular task.
The blase aspect is pretty important. The point is about how easily the love interest (man or woman; it seems equally common with both) proves themselves. How unconcerned and controlled they are. And they usually follow this up by being completely distant, if not entirely dangerous, to the heroine as well.
Even if the love interest is meant to be the cuter and sweeter type, this usually still happens at some point. In Japanese otome games it’s typically really goddamn obvious, with the character suddenly growing cold and kabedon-ing the heroine and proving they’re a “real man,” but even in romances that theoretically welcome more diverse love interest dynamics they usually have to check this box off somehow.
This is contrasted entirely with male-written romances (at least, the Japanese visual novels I read). There, love interests may be extremely competent or total losers, but they’re usually made more relatable with some mild flaws or mistakes. It’s a common trope in these sorts of stories for even the most intelligent and independent characters to make some kind of dumb, clumsy mistake, showing their vulnerability.
The latter trope certainly can irritate me if it feels like it’s focusing overly on the embarrassment of the love interest and triggers my own second-hand embarrassment, but overall I vastly perfer it. Getting to know one another’s vulnerabilities just feels like a much more natural part of a romance, and liking one another in spite of (because of!) their flaws feels just so much more... idk, wholesome? Heart-warming? Than judging every love interest up to some high standard of Superiority. It just feels almost mean-spirited, sometimes: that the love interest has to prove they’re better than someone to be worthy of interest, somehow.
Despite this, I’ve never really seen anyone else point this out at all, let alone express a negative opinion on it. The closest I’ve seen is women arguing that they want the heroine to get involved in the Badassery and Competence Porn as well - which usually involves stuff like ‘calling out the love interest on his bullshit’, or just being generally snarky, too. Which... is exactly the opposite direction I’d prefer this whole thing to go in.
That’s why I prefer those male-directed VNs, tbh. I sincerely have no feelings either way on “the male gaze.” But I’d just rather read a romance about people opening up to one another and learning to love themselves as much as each other, than a story about someone threatening someone but being so perfectly dominant they fall for them anyway. I guess that makes me boring, maybe? Or just a gross ‘straight man’ type? IDK.

Is encanto really as good as everyone thinks?
-SPOILERS FOR ENCANTO AND UP-
i know it may seem like im a bit late to the party but the truth is when i saw encanto first getting popular it felt strange.
it felt like i watched a completely different movie ngl and i kept my mouth shut back then because i didnt wanna ruin the fun for everyone else lol
but tbh im pissed off at disney and i cant keep my mouth shut for any longer now.
let me just, get to the point-
Encanto is a terrible movie that fails at the fundamentals of story telling
you see, if u manage to see through the tears and actually pay attention to the plot of the film, it is so b a d
now i'll give them credit where credit is due, they had a really interesting concept and very good ideas
but they executed it so poorly its laughable.
you see, this film isnt a film
its a cash grab on the name of nostalgia and emotions
idk abt other peope but to me, encanto felt very empty. From the way i see it, disney just wanted to make the next frozen with touchy feely themes about family and love and healing and runions but it sort of failed.
the characters in encanto seem extremely shallow. the "development" they get (.i.e. isabella, luisa, abuela etc) dosn't really feel like true development. it seemed extremely artificial and almost felt like an act disney was putting on to fool everyone else into thinking that they're actually good in writing characters. i mean sure, they have distinct personality traits, trauma, backstories and everything a character needs to have depth but what undermines this imo is the plot.
now idk if i just have a taste for suspenseful thriller movies or something but i enjoy a nice touchy feely movie alright (for instance Up) but encanto really lacked the substance it needed for it to truely shine.
Im gonna use Up as an example to explain what i mean
in the beginning of up, in the very first few minutes carl and ellie's characters have light years more personality then mirabel or luisa for example. The plot itself enhances it.
In the beginning of up, its very clear that carl is intorverted and uncertain, he wants more from life. he wants to go on adventures but he needs someone to be there for him. he needs someone to provide certainty and comfort even in chaos.
and ellie does exactly that. Her very first impression on carl and the audience makes it clear that she's very much into adventure and is the sun to carl's moon.
now what about isabella and mirabel?
they uh
have sister....problems...
and...
......
isabellla is a people pleaser i guess?
and what does the plot do to enchance this?
they make the dinner go wrong becuase of bruno's rats and mirabel gets blamed for it so isabella doubles down on her inner flaws???
like i get what they were trying to do with mira and isa's characters and what theme they were going for but it just fell really flat. the writing really failed in making me care about them or their issues. they seem like caricatures of real people who probably exist but they seem very one dimensional and flat.
honestly i think encanto would've been a lot better if it was a show as that would give the writers more time to flesh out these characters and make them loveable.
And this brings me to the most saddening part of this whole thing....
Disney dosn't care
they dont care that their ip would've benefited from being a show instead of a film, or that the final product is trash. All the care about is make touchy feely movies with the same theme and the same messed up message about love and boundaries over and over again with the same highly merchandisable characters that'll have the dolls and dresses flying off of the shelves because that's what it ultimately comes down to.
They don't care because they don't have to
Its simple really. they dont care because they're so absurdly big that it dosnt matter if they keep making terrible movie after terrible movie, uninspired sequel after uninspired sequel (lookin at u, frozen 2) because so many people are attached to the walt disney brand that they'll watch it regardless and buy the terrible quality merch without a second thought for their kids to play with so they can grow up and do the same thing to their kids.
Its tragic that this is what the beautiful medium of animation and film has come down to.

ok im ready to sit down and give some real thought to frontiers beyond nonsensical first-impression fueled gushing let’s go gamers
im not here to discuss the gameplay tbh like it’s good and fun and all that jazz but im more of a story kinda guy y’know. anyway.
reflecting on the story while watching the credits gave me sort of similar vibes to the first sonic movie in the sense that, all the building blocks and the ultimate vision were there, but the pacing was just a tad too fast to explore everything to their full potentials. the beginning felt definitely more fluent in that regard, thought this could also be just my experience in wanting to explore/get all the memories and THEN do all the plot shit in one go lol. i do think the ending needed a little something more special, i was hype to be in space but then it lasted a grand total of a single cutscene which was... not as cool as it could have been. same thing with sage, and my goodness i have a lot of thoughts about her
i seriously wish they had explored the whole corruption thing more! it seemed like such a huge deal but then it sorta. got thrown aside at the last moment. like okay fair how else would they have solved this issue without using resources to like idk create new playable characters for a single segment in which they save sonic or something? but i would’ve liked more, hm, spice in the whole situation. maybe the corruption overtakes sonic and, for a while, the story would force us to act against our friends. perhaps sage would be the one to stop sonic when he begins to threaten eggman’s safety, perhaps she is the one who gets shlorped into the corruption to stabilize sonic, perhaps the two of them are, for a brief moment in time, the same entity, and defeat the... whatever the final boss was together uh. it was some, corruption shit right? was that ever really addressed like the mechs and shit were ancients’ tech and there was another threat which was the fucking thanos planet or whatever?? and that planet was like possessing the mechs through cyber space?? did they actually address this or did i take too long fucking around to remember the plot anymore
regardless im overall fine with the story though! i can see why people would have issues with it, it’s far from perfect, but still a step-up from the 2010s sans sonic boom. i loved the interactions with amy and tails specifically, seeing the former become a more fleshed out character from what she’s used to and having a lot of things with tails addressed as well, especially forces. knuckles was a bit more history focused i feel but i think that fits him honestly
sage though... i was left craving more interactions with her and eggman, more direct ones anyway. the egg memos and the occasional cutscene was fine sure but i feel like something is still missing. either way im a sucker for sentient AI characters, i love how both her and sonic operate morally grey grounds for the most of the game and both see one another as enemies more or less (even if sonic is a lot friendlier towards her.) she’s a very interesting character and i do want to see more of her, im very much a fan of the implication that she might return in the future, and that it’s implied that frontiers leads up to a more cohesive narrative within sonic games from what we’ve had! i mean it would be a fucking shame to throw a character like that away, especially with the character development she brings out in eggman as well.
im not entirely sure how i feel about the ancients being aliens, it’s a bit... well, we had aliens before so did we really need more of them i guess? that said i am fucking obsessed that since the ancients are related to chaos, and chaos is related to chao, that chao are just heavily fucking mutated ancients that became babies it’s fucking hilarious to me akjsdhajds
the last thing that like actually bothers me is the goddamn mural that appeared in the sky and in the end on eggman’s machine, i severely wanted it addressed but we never really got that? i mean it has something to do with cyber space and the ancients but the hell is it? also i lowkey hate that every time i see it i read it as “up” but that’s just me aksjdhd
ah. i probably will have more thoughts later on after i’ve let my brain soup sit around for a while. but frontiers is good, pretty fucking good. and sticks confirmed please show her in a mainline game soon i miss her so much
