not trying to make a bold statement like “15-I by The Mountain Goats is the best love song of all time’ but... 15-I by The Mountain Goats is the best love song of all time.

ok so im curious.. what kind of music do you like?? i know mitski ofc but besides? like, top 10 last year’s favourite albums. or top 10 favourite albums/artists. or both. idk tell me abt you =UwU=
this is such a cute ask! sorry to dissapoint but i actually have a dreadful taste in music. very very embarassing. its bc if i like something ill listen to it on repeat and never branch out, so ive been listening to the same stuff since i was a kid, or just fixated on a particular style/artist that are all wildly different from eachother. so  like depending on my mood. my favorite styles of music are country/western/folk, girl rap, and punk or dad rock
but u asked so ummmm in no particular order
the mountain goats (sorry. ive seen them live actually it was the last concert i saw before everything went to shit and it was amazing. my favorite albums of theirs are the sunset tree, talahassee and all hail west texas)
dolly parton (jolene is a great song but her other work was incredible!! genius of country pop)
siouxsie and the banshees (fave songs are peekaboo, the passanger and cities in dust)
reba mcentire (anything produced before like 1999. i really like songs that tell a story and fancy and the night the lights went out in georgia are great examples of that)
orville peck (the entire first album honestly. also i want him to kiss me. orville peck stans have you seen that one nude photoshoot hes done)
my chemical romance (saw them live right before they broke up. fave band since i was 13. one of their songs is still my bank password lol. one time someone said sirius bloggers would have a three cheers for sweet revenge sideblog and that hit hard.)
rina sawayama (SAWAYAMA is literally a perfect fucking album i listen to it whenever i wanna feel like a hurricane)
rico nasty (i like to yell. best songs are smack a bitch and hatin)
meatloaf (lmao. sorry. bat out of hell is a sirius black and also ravi teixeira album)
april smith and the great picture show (theres really only one album and its VERY GOOD)
ludo (another favorite since i was a teenager. remember homestuck fandom? youre awful i love you is an excellent album. i also like prepare the preparations!)

@roboremy has tagged me in a thing and i do love talking about myself so
Last Song: i don’t know but i’m reasonably confident it was Alpha Rats Nest by the mountain goats because i’ve been listening to talahassee a lot it is very good for the commute home after getting into arguments with adult men about whether children should be allowed to wear hats
Last Movie: uhhhhh i caught a little of big hero 6 in a class that was watching it but the last movie i Watched watched was into the spiderverse the day before they took it off netflix
Currently Watching: leverage! they’re making a reboot and i realized i’ve only ever seen most of leverage and god is it so good and absolutely worth the weird scavenger hunt to try to find it streaming somewhere. i have not stopped thinking about leverage in weeks
Currently Reading: i was talking to bonnie the librarian about kids book series that were popular when i was in middle school vs currently (percy jackson still going strong) and i was talking about charlie bone and how i don’t think i ever finished them and bonnie was like “oh well we have the whole series. do you want to check them out?” so i’m rereading the charlie bone books
Currently Craving: a nice hot cider because inexplicably it is absolutely freezing in this house as opposed to when i try to sleep and it’s 75 degrees for no reason (there is a reason it is my sister constantly doing a weird thing to the thermostat)
Tagging: @catgirl-dot-exe and @thinksideways and whomstever would like to talk about themselves also

...Relevant to the Mental Health Discourse going on on @fierceawakening‘s blog-
Mental health issues- at least the particular cocktail I’ve got- make your life feel like a Mountain Goats song 99% of the time.  (Or Garbage or the Cure or whatever your favourite raggedy-around-the-edges Sad Tunes Band is.)
.......The catch is, there’s a lot of Mountain Goats songs. Your life is not doomed to be In the Craters of the Moon or Song for Lonely Giants or Lovecraft in Brooklyn or- good lord- something off Talahassee forever.
This Year and The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out Of Denton and San Bernardino and Heretic Pride and Cry for Judas and that trippy one about the talking frogs whose name I can never remember and Up the Wolves are all Mountain Goats songs too.
Even if your life’s spinning out of control and Bad Bad Things are happening - whether you’re in a toxic relationship or an abusive family or recovering from a cult or just Super Mentally Ill- you’re gonna have moments of joy in there. Sometimes you happen on them.  Sometimes you have to grab them and force them to happen.
But...you’re not doomed, yanno?
There will be feasting and dancing in Jerusalem next year. I’m gonna make it through this year if it kills me.

shufflemancy: will this work out between me and b? will we both be happy and comfortable?
i got talahassee - the mountain goats.
Window facing an ill-kept front yardPlums on the tree heavy with nectarPrayers to summon the destroying angelMoon stuttering in the sky like film stuck in a projectorAnd youYou
Twin prop airplanes passing loudly overheadRoad to the airport two lanes clearHalf the whole town gone for the summerTerrible silence coming down hereAnd youYou
There is no deadlineThere is no scheduleThere is no plan we can fall back onThe road this far can't be retracedThere is no punch line anybody can tack onThere are loose ends by the scoreWhat did I come down here for?YouYou
this song gives off a very melancholy, but also peaceful vibe. in context, it’s about a couple that’s recently been married and bought a home together, and can feel the start of a dreadful, loveless marriage ahead of them.
out of context, and an interpretation i like, is it can be taken as a person driving miles out into a ghost town in the countryside to see the person he loves. it’s lonely and a hard journey, but it’s his love that keeps him going. there’s no turning back now.
the emphasis on ‘you’ is very important here, i think. it means that this person is very dear to you, and you’d sacrifice a lot to be able to be with them.
i think you could take both the intended meaning and the interpreted meaning to heart here. you care a great deal about this person, and would do most anything for them, and you could be very happy together. but if things do somehow go south, don’t keep sticking with it out of obligation. it’ll only lead you down a road that’s hard to come back from.
sorry if this is a bit confusing! it’s kind of a “maybe” answer but i say it leans towards a yes, with a side of “keep this in mind just in case”. i hope things turn out well for you guys!
