My big fat Pokemon rant:
Hey there lovelies, this is going to be a long rant about my thoughts on the state of the Pokemon games.
WARNING: Personal opinion ahead, proceed with caution!
I love Pokémon, if you can't tell, I'm basically a Poké-artist at this point. So it pains me to have to do this but I can't leave these feeling inside any longer. I feel like the last genuinely good Pokemon game was either Black and White 2 or X and Y. In gen 7 (Sun and Moon) the hand holding was absurd, I remember just wanting to play the games and was interrupted several times in the beginning of the games. But I could have excused that if not for the Ultra games... they're DLC for Sun and Moon at the full price of a new game and it bothers me that they did this...
this brings us to Scarlet and Violet, the broken, unfinished first open world games of Pokémon's history. Before this, gamefreak experimented with Legends Arceus, in my opinion the best recent pokémon experience. it has a lot of flaws, like not being able to play PVP matches, the lack of breeding and proper competitive training, the graphics, textures and, some times, lag.
Tumblr media
It looked like a Gamecube game. People kept comparing it to TLOZ BOTW and why it couldn't look like it. Is the Switch too weak? NO! the switch showed time and time again that it can handle graphically complex and beautiful games, like monster hunter and dragon's dogma. So, is the Pokemon team this incompetent? Remember pokemon Let's go eevee and pikachu? say what you will about those games but they looked polished and beautiful!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, you could ride your own Pokemon. But yes, not the same type of game, so I can't compare. And hey, graphics aren't important and I had so much fun with Legends, I also never encountered any glitches besides the camera going through the floor.
Sword and shield are not amazing but at least they have some polish! no major glitches, fun game play, decent graphics... where they fail is in the areas we've learned to expect from pokemon, the character pop ins, the grass growing, the textures loading and in the animation department - If a character is going to do some "complicated" animations, the screen just fades to black, sound effects play, fades back with the character in a new place... It's 2023, those "animations" are inexcusable! Also the horrible and recycled character animations:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but that alone doesn't ruin the games, it's just that Pokemon is a BILLION dollar company! You'd think they could afford good animators. But I actually like Sword and Shield so let's talk about Scarlet and Violet. Man, where do I start with this. I mean, we've all seen the glitch compilations online, but I myself have only seen the regular going through the floor ones, but that's no excuse. the character animations are better (specially during cut scenes) but nothing to write home about. What really bugs me is the amount of lag that almost makes the game unplayable to me. if they weren't ready to make an open world game, they shouldn't have. if they needed more time, they should have delayed it.
Tumblr media
the Pokemon and overworld characters keep popping in like in the previous games but it's somehow worse(?) you'd think Mesagoza wouldn't have lag because it´s closed off and has a loading screen but you'd be wrong. the towns and the ppl in them lost their souls, you can't go in the buildings and NPCs have nothing to say. The graphics are, somehow, worst than in sword, shield and legends! (legends had those texturing problems but was still very pretty).
Tumblr media
Sure legends isn't a real open world game, but need I remind you BOTW runs on the same hardware?
Tumblr media
And what other Open world and semi-open world games are there for the switch with much more complex graphics and textures that run without lag?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile Scarlet and Violet here looking like a game from the 2000s
Tumblr media
But one thing it did right was making the Pokemon textures better.
Tumblr media
But if that's why the games are unfinished, I don't want them.
let's talk about the new gimmick now, the tera raid battles. they´re a mess, there´s nothing else to say.
Tumblr media
The tera Pokemon are fine and a good addition but the raids are almost unplayable. I can't tell what's going on half the time! Sometimes my Pokemon disappears or goes through the floor. Sometimes no one moves for 5 minutes, the menu is gone, you can't input commands, everyone goes invisible, the tera mon is not there and then someone died 5 times, it's all over and I did nothing! WTF!
you know what I loved and was fun? Dynamax raids! Why not just do the same but with tera mons??? I´ll never know. who the fuck made these games? The B team? Probably the Z team!
If it sounds like I'm being too harsh, it's because I love Pokemon, but I hate this. I don't want this. I really like Scar/Vio's Story and characters but I could not enjoy this game the way I wanted. It's not a money issue! give your guys more time to make games!
And to finish things off, here's what I'dd add or fix:
- Let me mass release Pokemon in boxes! GOD!!! I do a lot of breeding! I need this! Pokemon Legends had it and it didn't had breeding WTF!!! - if your'e doing an open world RPG with a leveling system, please have level scaling! it's not hard to implement! I got lost, beat the gyms in the wrong order, the games overall was a cake walk. if your afraid it'll be too hard for the little babies just have - easy - medium - hard - difficulties! that should have been in the games by now! - Give me a reason to want to replay the league and play on the tournaments! by now I have full teams of competitive level 100 mons, but the tournaments keep the "high" levels of the late game and stops scaling them, so if I want to test out my teams, I can't. Also the prizes could be actually good! like battle items or mints or ability patches. Make the tournaments hard!!!! it's post game!!! it can be hard!!!! Also throw us a bone and add old characters participating in the tournaments like in Black and White 2! - why can't I see the meal power timer screen while camping? that's just weird! I want to know how much longer I have egg power on! why can't I see it!!! makes no sense! (also if you're making a sandwich beware of the tiny earthquakes that happen during the making of the sandwich... much polish) - for the shiny hunters: Legends did it right. There's an audible queue when a shiny spawns, a visual effect and they DO NOT despawn! Meanwhile here I am looking at a group of Flabébé like:
Tumblr media
and if you look away for 3 seconds, it's GONE!!!
also can we talk about the random balls? yes, the ones that show up sometimes when you go inside rooms or during cut-scenes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yeah, what's up with that???
What do I want for the future of Pokemon? Finished, polished fun games please. Also Megas, but Megas are controversial, I loved them. this is a minor thing but I'd like a proper character creator. Most of the ppl playing are adults and we can only play as 10 year olds... why cant I be a middle aged man with a full beard chasing pokemon around the world to be the very best?!
I'm done ranting! I think I said everything that was on my mind. I still love Pokemon, I'm gonna keep playing this broken ass game. Feel free to agree or disagree with me, and tell me how I cherry picked my examples XD I'd genuinely love to know your opinions on all of this.
Stop defending billion dollar corporations just because they give a product you love! sometimes they need to be called out on their bullshit.
Have a good one.

We’re officially in the month that Pokemon Scarlet/Violet will be releasing! How are we feeling?
Overall, I’m really hyped for the games; but I’m a bit disappointed that there  apparently isn’t going to be level-scaling in the game. I don’t see the point of making a game open-world and non-linear without a system to balance the levels as you progress/return to beginner areas to catch up other parts of the game.

The fact that Shield Surfing isn't some mod or glitch, it's a built-in mechanic by Nintendo, is so wild to me
They really went "Here is Link. He is a stoic and dutiful Knight of Hyrule, destined by the Master Sword, Hylian Champion, Chosen Protector of the Princess.
Now watch him SHRED!!!"

it may not look like it but this took a long time to make
heres a rough ability breakdown for the totk rewrite project (i know its hard to read in the pic so let me clear it up and add some extra info)
theres two ability wheels now, sages are not frame rate killing glitch ghosts around you but their abilities are selected through the wheel on the right (pic is rough concept, it is clearer what is selected and what isnt + it has names in final version, symbols are placeholders as well) and bound to the player, when you acitvate it an aura appears similar to the arm abilities and their ghostly form appears besides you, charging or firing when you hit A while the ability is active
SHIEKAH ARM WHEEL
ANALYZE: zelda tells you info about targeted enemy/NPC, it gives you info about it and informs you more dynamically about important things than the foto-entries do
FOTO its fotos :) zelda joins selfies tho and does silly poses with you
REWIND: functions like the time recall in canon, but this time it is a more developed version of stasis instead
AMIIBO: its ... amiibo
HOOKSHOT: grab onto anything (perhaps restricted but not yet decided), you pull yourself+zelda to heavy stuff, light weight objects are pulled to you (including light enemies like bats or small slimes) grab onto something and hold onto it, usable like a vine (think, ww grappling hook) but with limited duration (battery power?)
AUTOBUILD: like in canon but it uses luminous stones if material isnt all there (or other material you put out to so its more versatile and you are more aware of what you have, no accidental spending then)
BUILD: similar to canon, but no glue (it kinda just fuses with no extra graphic unless pehaps like a bolt or sth), you put stuff together anyway you want; build is also used for weapons (no extra ability needed), you just build a weapon on the ground and pick it up afterwards (it has to be a weapon handle part and then sth else to it, otherwise it wont turn into a weapon)
INFUSE: infuse somethign with ancient energy, useless on normal objects usually(?) but reactivates broken or deactivated tech like elevators and doors; used to dynamically access caves and especially labs (labs serve a similar function as shrines, they are old shiekah labs that broke over time, puzzles are diverse things like traversal and little quests in which you help the researcher ghosts of the people that died in these labs (by the calamity, earthquakes, accidents, or killed by the royal army when their tech was banned and they refused to give it up)
SAGE WHEEL:
WIND GUST: same as in canon
LIGHT SHIELD/LIGHT LASER: zelda uses a shield of light to protect herself in combat, it does not affect the player (or perhaps only when you happen to be within range, which is small, this is more a character thing for her than useful for you) for the player through the selection wheel; aim and tell her to shoot a light laser like rauru did in the moldora cutscene in canon totk (a bit more dynamic) it deals very high damage to anything hit but has the highest cooldown of all abilities; deals extra damage to miasma enemies
THUNDERSTRIKE: similar as in canon, it charges through you however (so the charging only gets stopped if YOU shoot an arrow or get hit)
FIRE .. BOOM THING: similar as in canon but yuno has a little animation of daruks shield around him again :)
YIGA TELEPORT/KOGA CLONES (undecided yet): A: target a location in range and koga grabs you like a naughty kitten and teleports you both to the targetted location, you spawn in a little above ground giving you time to either perform a bullet time move or a sword attack from above B: summons a bunch of koga clones that serve as a distraction for enemies and combat support, they die in one hit (reference to kogas and monk moz kyoshias similar moveset; since there are no sage ghosts around you all the time and a max of two companions (zelda always, sage in sage dungeon) it serves as a replacment for that)
WATER ...WELL(?): sidon gives you a shield of water, elemental effect is applied to weapon and lasts as long as the shield does no matter how many times you attack; if it is hit by an enemy it breaks but you dont take damage; if the shield lasts it entire duration without getting hit it it grants you a percentage of your missing health back upon dissolving (ref to mipha healing powers anyone??)
im open to constructive feedback but overall im quite happy of makign it work out like that, although there are quite a few things that need polish i think this is both realistic and works well with what else i have been writing; remember tho, this is my rewrite so im undoing the things i dont like, like riju never being there when you need her bc she runs right up to the enemy and her losing her charge bc she keeps getting knocked over + overall uselessness of minerus robot (to me)
(totk rewritten project)

I think the most frustrating thing about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is that if the Pokémon Company actually allowed the devs plenty of time to refine graphics, test the game and patch glitches before release it could easily be one of the best Pokémon games out there. So far from what I’ve played, the story and writing is miles better than Sword and Shield, and the characters are so much more interesting and each given equal time in the spotlight. They already released Legends Arceus earlier this year and even though the graphics weren’t perfect the glitches were minimal and overall the game was fantastic, one of my all time favourites in fact. That game had more time to be perfected since BDSP was released in time for Black Friday/Christmas instead. If TPC actually gave a shit about their devs and the appearance of their games rather than the millions of dollars they rake in with every launch day then they would take one look at their game, think “wtf no that’s not done” and then delay it. Would fans cry? Yes, because Pokémon fans will never be happy. Would the game look better if it was delayed a couple of months? Probably. Breath of the Wild was delayed two years and went on to win game of the year, and it’s sequel is following suit because the company actually cares about their games. I’m not saying a Pokémon game will ever win game of the year but if even just a little bit of care was applied from the heads of TPC then maybe we’d finally get a mainline Pokémon game with nice graphics and a brilliant storyline.

First Footage of Loki Season 2 Opening Scene Released (Description)
A look at the opening 10 minutes of Disney+’s Loki Season 2 was shown to attendees at Destination D23.
Marvel Studios’ most viewed Disney+ series was none other than Loki Season 1, which arrived back in 2021. So, naturally, the hype for the Asgardian trickster’s second solo outing is reaching peak levels.
Loki Season 2 arrives in early October, and the marketing for the series has shown an exciting romp through time and space as its titular character leaps uncontrollably through different eras and perhaps universes.
Description of Loki Season 2’s Opening Scene
At Destination D23 this weekend, Loki Season 2 executive producer Kevin Wright was on hand to unveil the first 10 minutes of the show’s upcoming premiere.
Descriptions of this footage appeared online shortly afterward with attendees discussing several key plot points and events, including a chase scene through the TVA.
Laughing Place explained that the second season “begins at the exact same spot as the Season 1 cliffhanger,” with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in the TVA library and a statue of time-traveling villain Kang looming in the background.
As devotees will recall, Loki’s newfound pal Mobius somehow has no idea who he is, which prompts the TVA agent to “chase him through the halls” with a squad of armed guards by his side. To escape, Loki jumps out of a nearby window and “lands in the bed of a yellow hover truck,” startling the driver and nearly making her careen into the Kang statue.
After the truck crashes into a building, “Loki tumbles out into an office where Casey also doesn’t recognize him.” It’s at this point that the brother of Thor takes notice of the office floor “which has the TVA shield and sword crest inlaid,” but it‘s been damaged. He has no chance to process this before he “glitches.”
The glitching is what’s known in the series as “timeslipping.” None of the characters know why it’s happening, but it’s causing Loki to jump through time without his consent.
When he rematerializes, Loki is “standing in the exact same room, with Casey staring at him quizzically.” But this time, Eugene Cordero’s character is fully aware of who he‘s speaking to, seemingly indicating that this is the version audiences met in Season 1.
But something puzzles the God of Mischief - the TVA crest on the floor is “still damaged,” which must mean that Loki was sent to the future of the moment he was just in. He “asks Casey to get Mobius, and then he glitches again.“
ScreenRant additionally pointed out that the truck chase scene is “funny,” meaning the first season’s dry sense of humor must be at least somewhat intact.

Hello Pinky I hope you missed me and my Lynel Farm!
I got an idea which would be hilarious! Reader is a Link! But not any Link no they are Wild and the Link from TotK! And they are a MENACE! Why?
Well, Reader can use glitches like Bullet-Time Bounce or clipping or Wacko-Boingo. They also wear the Tunic of Wild. But they came after TotK to the game and they can duplicate everything! And everything is maxed out of capacity they can't carry a single drop more. Their Purah Pad is about to explode! But then just imagine their meeting.
Legend: „Seriously does anyone know where the fuck we are?!“
Wind: „It looks like a forest.“
Reader used BTB and yeeted themself above the group with their shield on their feet just to shield surf the hill down with speed.
Sky: „What was that?“
„I want that too!!“ with that Wild shield surfed the hill down too.
Twilight: „I will go and get him...“
But the whole group follows as Reader is obviously someone who knows where to go. But as they see Wild and Reader standing there face to face. They are just stunned. They look the same! But Reader is missing an arm and has a mechanical arm instead. But these two seem to get along. This is how they learned that Reader is Wild practically but instead of doing all the Beast, gathering memories and the shrines to pull the sword. They instantly went after Ganon. They fought in their underwear and some Weapons they found on their way and sticks against the Calamity. They don't even know what a Master Sword is! They did the shrines after the Calamity.
But even if they are so bubbly and well wild. They don't talk about their journey and to Twilight. They felt betrayed by him. They needed him as they woke up in a shrine without any orientation or knowledge where they are and what happened. They just needed Wolfie by their side and to help them with their upcoming panic attack. They also don't trust the Chain immediately. They could be Yiga or puppets, sorry for Spoilers, like the Zelda which they chased after in the present. And if someone asks about their journey they only tell the stories of The Hero of Wild not the Hero of Ruins, who they are now. They turn cold and say with an icy tone „It's not your business!“
But Four should never see their weapons or he gets a heart attack. They got so many cursed weapons. But Reader is also freaking strong! Lifting a claymore is hard enough but a claymore fused with another claymore, that's heavy! They fused two Biggoron Swords together or two Dusk Claymores. They also hear the poes in the Depths and that's how they got the weapons. Thanks to the talking statues.
Reader also talks more to their horse and this one isn't small! Even Ganondorf's stallion is smaller than that. It's a giant white stallion and it stomps on everything that comes across their way! With the beautiful name "Thunder" because this thing has loud stomps! But since it's so tall it also takes great maintenance and that's Reader's therapy. When they take care of their giant, they don't feel the phantom pain of losing their arm or hear the whispers of the dead. Just the snorts of their horse and the brush. They also sleep with their horse but mostly on fields or caves as forests can have Evermeans and they want to sleep one time without an ambush from everything that wants their death!
Wild and Wild obviously are all around their giant horse. Four is all about their Lynel Sword collection, swords fused with lynel horns. Twilight tries to mend the bridge while they both are carrying about their horses. Legend and Hyrule ask about the sages and their abilities. Warriors and Time tries to get them comfortable enough so they share their journey. Sky teaches them about the Master Sword but they turn off as soon as he begins with Hylia. They are an atheist they don't believe in her.
The rings from Rauru as they lost their arm are built into the artificial arm as the sages gave them an oath of loyalty.
I feel like I understood about 50% of this because I know so little about Totk.
I know about the arm of course and the the cursed weapons! XD
Four would absolutely lose his mind about them. He freaked out when Wild broke his sword on a rock- just wait until that Reader attached a rock to their sword.
I don't know if they would even know who Wolfie is. If he was never there for them since BotW, then would they even know that Wolfie was someone who would have had to there anyway?
So it would be more like-
Wild: Wolfie was a great help to me when I needed him most the first time around. Reader: ...Who? Wild: The wolf... the wolf that followed me- us- you (?) around? Reader:.... Nope. I don't have a clue who you're talking about.
And another note, I do think that they wouldn't trust the chain off the bat though. You're right. They could be yiga in disguise. A new threat to the the land or to Zelda. There's just something off about them that Reader wouldn't have been able to tell what it was.
Especially since they might not even have all their memories anyway. If they did the shrines after Ganon, then who's to say they would have bothered with doing them all anyway? They coudl have just checked out a few, got bored and left it at that.
They might not have any of their memories and are perfectly fine that way.

Hey, just a thought, but consider how cool it would be if as a way to try and win Phil's loyalty, the code gave him his "wings" back. Not a normal elytra or his usual crow wings, but a digital and number-filled set that had the off chance of teleporting him when flying. Maybe not only to buy a form of Phil's loyalty, but they find out about Phil's past as "The Angel of Death" and want to use that, so they offer the clipped wise crow a new set of wings so long as he helps when it's needed.
The codes already have a fascination and eye with Phil, that being the first few days it attacked him, impersonated his kids first, and even more recently with Codeflippa favoring Phil alongside the other code events that seem to single Phil out amongst the other islanders. Phil has openly shown and expressed how awful it is to not fly, how he has to wear a backpack as a counterweight, and even the looks at Jaiden's wings were just torture to him- so, what if the codes notice that? The codes are observant and they gave Charlie his kid back, they gave Etoiles a wicked sword and shield back after he lost, so why not wings to a very useful asset who's more dangerous in flight?
If Phil was offered the wings, would he take them? He's already seen the effects of negative code use with Charlie, but he's also seen the benefit of using code tools with Etoiles. I think, or at least would like to imagine, that Phil would take the wings in due time after everything he's been through, after what the Federation did to his wings, and the soft taunting of the lack of them (Birdhouse, Jaiden showing their wings off, the "ha ha ha" and bubbles blown in his face, etc.).
So just imagine the offer: A set of wings for Phil to fly again, to use those wings and don the name "The Angel of Death" in totality again, to use those wings to find his kids so long as he pays the price of helping the codes when they need it. Maybe up on a pedestal in the highest place around that has a high significance to Phil, near Uppies as if a more convincing place because of how great it'd be to have wings there. The thought of having his kids back because he could find them with his fixed wings, he could hold them with wing hugs like he never properly could before, and he could keep them safe. Flying over high areas once again would be a liberating feeling, helping his friends much quicker, achieving his supposed full strength again too is too much of an intoxicating proposal.
Phil takes the offer, especially at the chance of finding his kids, and the next thing he knows is that his back is heavier and there's a greenish glow to them as feathers are semi-replaced with zeros and ones. Sure he wasn't expecting them to be like this, but to see and sense a full set of wings rather it be clipped and mangled gives a wave of relief that hadn't been felt in six months. The first thing he does? Fly. That's all he does for who knows how long, flying as much as that damned sunbird he chased and not landing anytime soon.
The effects of having the wings might make him teleport here and there every so often, I mean, this is more than just a held weapon or semi-contact with a code, it's full-on limbs like Maximus' leg but with more serious implications (It's Phil's wings, c'mon you know how much they mean to him). I can practically hear Etoiles shouting "LETS GOOOOO, THE GOAT" at Phil about how cool his wings are and asking to spar; a whole new meaning to Codebreakers too. Would his voice glitch? Who's to say. But I find it poetic that Phil became the thing he fought so long ago, a semi-glitchy powerful being with wings and an air of death.
Bonus points that his chat, the crows, appear around Phil's home when he took the offer as if to contrast the hummingbirds and parrots that originally showed up. Maybe even in a literary sense, the crows have flecks of bright green on their wings to match Phil too. Even more bonus points are that Phil chooses an open area in the sky to make a new home, just because it's safer and he feels more comfortable, that and so he can fly more.

ok gonna share my thoughts on scarlet and violet but just warning you that there will be some spoilers and it’s… not nice at all so if you really liked these games then you should just scroll this is for the girls and the gays who want to be angry with me. i usually try not to share too many negative opinions like this bc i don’t like hampering on people’s fun, but just wow
now that i’ve sat with it for awhile i can say that pokemon sv was probably the most soulless pokemon game i’ve ever played and i’m glad i didn’t give nintendo any of my money for it. the game was so incredibly empty and the region didn’t have any cohesion or culture whatsoever. what even *is* paldea known for? glitched out sandwiches and empty buildings?
the soundtrack left so much to be desired and it somehow managed to make me nostalgic for sword and shield, my second least favorite mainline game to date.
technical glitches aside… the game trying to appeal to my better nature by using arven’s parental neglect fell incredibly flat. as someone who was neglected as a child it just kinda felt?? so haphazardly handled?? and the ~power of friendship~ thing at the end felt so incredibly tacked on to me, and it did not move my heart one centimeter. i enjoyed the character designs but that’s pretty much it, the characters themselves felt like nothing
the gym challenges were such a joke, it felt almost like they added those in at the last moment just to waste players’ time.
the entire region felt so empty. open world but absolutely no world, just an open expanse of nothingness. the copy/paste nature of all the buildings (that you can’t even enter), the fact that you couldn’t even explore the school (teleporting from room to room), all made it feel like playing a skeleton of a game. lackluster is a good word to sum it up
i don’t want to see another pokemon game for several years, not if they’re going to be this rushed and bland

Hey, this is nothing, but -
The Code Sword and the Code Shield are both in pieces and repaired with lines of code. Especially in a complicated modded server where all the mods are developed individually and only sort of selected for a balanced storytelling server, there are these edge cases and busted combos - things with outsized effects. (See: Create mod, securitycraft, dark metal, whales.) Uhhh glitches even. Gamebreaking. What are the words we use to describe an overpowered weapon or strategy in a video game? Busted. Broken.

the mercs and which pokémon generation would be their favorite:
scout: strikes me as either the douche who actually liked sword and shield or someone who’s new to the series and only has played pokémon go or scarlet and violet
pyro: gen 2, specifically crystal. likes the sprite work the best and tries to shiny hunt for pokémon they think look the coolest or the cutest
soldier: barely understands how video games work, but his favorite is gen 5 because it’s based off america, specifically pokémon white/black 2. he blasts through the story by overlevling his starter and braveriary he named uncle sam in all caps because he didn’t realize there was a lowercase option, then uses shock and awe as he sweeps the place with no regard for super effective moves or strategies. sun tzu would be ashamed
demoman: while there was a dlc for sword and shield for an isle based off scotland, there’s no way in sweet hell he’d actually like those games, let alone ones based in britain. he’d probably like gen 3 or 4, ruby and platinum respectively. he plays competitive very casually, and only really plays the lower tiers because he finds them more fun than the higher tiers. also they have his favorite pokémon in them
engineer: honestly, he’d probably like any of the games, but i think he’d love gen 1 specifically for it’s interesting glitches. god knows he’s the type of guy to look for ways to fuck up a game like pikasprey. he’d probably like yellow the best
heavy: uhhhhh my brain says he’d be a genwunner, but considering he has a lit degree, he’d probably like gen 5 since it has one of the best and most mature stories in the series. would choose black/white 2 but prefer white 2
medic: he’s a genwunner i’m sorry i love him but he only has the gameboy games and nothing else, on original carts too. he doesn’t have a real play style, he mostly just plays the games over and over every time he’s bored. may try speedrunning it sometimes. he has all three but he prefers blue
sniper: probably either gen 3 or gen 7, though he specifically plays the games to collect critters and not really to actually engage with the story or do competitive or whatnot. he has the national dex completed on every save file he does. plays emerald, fire red, and honestly he’d probably play sun or moon
spy: gen 6, it’s based off france come on. he plays competitive and will bully everyone else for their “bad competitive teams” because everyone else tends to just use their favorites. he also plays only OU and UBERS because he’s lame like that. he also has both games because he’s fucking rich and has two ds’ he trades to himself with
bonus:
merasmus: gen 4, but he likes the gen 2 remakes the best. when soldier isn’t pissing him off he does shiny hunts and uses magic to manipulate the odds because he’s an impatient motherfucker. plays heart gold
pauling: probably wouldn’t care about pokémon honestly, but she strikes me as the kind who’d actually like the spin-offs the best, specifically any of the mystery dungeon games, but specifically gen 4
saxton: realistically he’d probably break a game console and call it for kids, but if he did manage to like a game, he’d like the pokken games or scarlet and violet, and doesn’t care which one it is

I had a wild fucking dream last night, I dreamed there was a Nintendo direct, and I'm it was announced Pokemon ultra sword and Pokemon ultra shield, each game took place in it's own new region, and, more importantly, introduced a new type... glitch type the type symbol for itself was glitchy, it kept switching the letters around like sometimes it'd say "gcitlh" and things like that I saw several new glitch type pokemon, such as a new eeveelution, a new evolution for clefairy, and a new pikachu clone
the only things I remember about the designs were they were all bright orange and black color scheme for some reason, and incorporated chunky pixels/flat portions of their bodies, such as, the ears on the pikachu clone were flat and done in chunky pixelart
I also, in the dream, made the meme below, because I was very excited that this was the best chance we've ever had to see some kind of return of missingno as an official pokemon, something I've thought would be fun for ages, ehe
