Easter. The return of the light, hope, and life. You don't know how much I need all of this. I had been so damn busy over the course of the last weeks, so at least i was very distracted from all the cases of losses and illnesses around me... On top of that, i had the flu over the past few days. Only today i'm feeling better and look forward to see my family in a few hours.

Happy Tuesday folks!

How's everyone doing this second week of January? Now that we're past new years I feel like we're so much closer to spring over here (yeah I know, still months and months away) and I cannot wait! It also makes things feel more hopeful, doesn't it?

Last week was pretty crappy due to the fact that I lost my job because my boss is a genuine douche (it was the last drop for my colleagues because they have been badly treated by him as well and it has snowballed into a big mess that the higher ups are looking into now), and that caused me to have some stress related issues. Don't feel bad for me about the job thing though, it is such a huge relief to be away from both the boss and the work itself (it was never a job for me but at least the colleagues were great), and I feel so much better now. Now I'm onto finding something that suits me better, and while job hunting is both boring and frustrating, I still feel hopeful about it 💪🏻

Hi everyone! A new Tuesday, in the heart of October. Check out these beautiful colors I captured on one of my walks... Thank you all for your words of support last week, the situation is still complicated (and now it's my daughter who is not doing so well either), but we keep our fingers crossed that everything will be ok.

I am drowning in work, which is not necessarily a good idea, but I want to express here once again all my support to the Ukrainian people : I remain totally appalled by the world today... And to think that my job is to make it understandable... Needless to say, I feel both very useful... and powerless. Let's hope for better days...

We've apparently skipped spring altogether this year, at least for a while. The sun is shining, the cherry is blooming and it's been 27 C for the past few days. It's a little insane and probably not a good sign climate-wise but I can't help but be happy about it. I missed the sun.

Gonna go ahead and start off this week cause I've been MIA for a while🙈 not sure I've done bfsn since before our Harry Potter party and I don't have too many pictures that don't have people in them so to protect their privacy I'll just share one with me haha. Below you'll see little Care dressed as Luna for the midnight book release of Deathly Hallows and then me dressed again as Luna 15 years later🤯

The World Cup started this weekend so I've had games on while I've been working at home⚽️ my friends and I are doing a Friendsgiving tonight and then I'll travel some on Thursday to see family. I have high hopes for a change in what's been happening in Europe.

South Africa is finally coming to the end of its state of disaster ~ two years after it was implemented. Things feel quite normal right now. This is a recent pic of me and some friends at a St Patrick's Day gig at a local watering hole. It felt wonderfully normal.

Hi Sunflowerkru, I’m back! Our lovely Stef, @togetherkru has asked me to kick us off this Tuesday so I can tell you a little bit about where I’ve been for these past five months or so.

I have actually been spending my time making some pretty big life decisions and finally applying to Veterinary school. I heard just before Christmas that I got in! 🥰

So I will in fact be moving to Spain in a few months! It’s really exciting, but also quite stressful selling everything I own and moving to a different country. My boyfriend will be coming with me and I know there will be at least one other Icelander in my class, so that’s nice. Keli has moved back in with my mother in law and it’s extremely weird having no animals around.

It’s been wonderful seeing all the BFSN’s I’ve missed and what you guys have been up to. I love having our little community to share life updates with as well as how we are feeling. I know this past year has been rough on a lot of you but I’m so proud of you for getting through it! I hope this year will be kinder to all of us ❤️

This past week has been pretty uneventful, so here are some pictures from our trip to Gran Canaria over Christmas, as well as a picture of Keli and Bella 💛

The last bit of 2022 and the whole of 2023 have not been very kind to my family - and so I'm standing here today, looking back at the past 13 months and finding myself almost back and stuck in the emotional state that I had been in after the separation from my long time boyfriend/life partner in 2009... That was a very dark time. I was trying to live and breathe with a constant black hole in my chest and soul for a couple of years then... I felt so empty and lost. I had a very similar feeling for the span of a couple of months after I had been kicked out of my job in 2017. But nothing, and I mean it, nothing has the rug under my feet pulled away and made me hit rock bottom like the cancer illness of my sister, the death of my grandma and now the fact that my mum is diagnosed with a tumor in her spine, all in the span of just 13 months... Please, we all need some rest in my family so desperately. But now we're all very anxious bc of the surgery my mum has to go through at the 12th of january. It's a difficult surgery. No-one knows for sure at this point what kind of a tumor it is. It causes her legs getting more and more numb and if they don't do anything, the risk of her ending up using a wheelchair rather sooner than later seems very likely. If the tumor should be malignant (please, god, no, NO!) the consequences would be even worse bc it could've spread already... But the fact that the doctors pushed for a fast surgery likely speaks for the possibility that the tumor is benign and seated in just one place... Well you see, this really keeps me busy... We all hope desperately that she will get better after the surgery, and not worse... We have plans! We want to travel together again! To the Netherlands next! Or to Danmark!

Don't get me wrong, there HAD been good things that happened in the last year, not at least the fact that my sister is now considered as cured. We're all so relieved and thankful, I have no words for it! But then... the death of our grandma... and now the tumor and surgery of my mother... I feel like i'm trapped in a constant state of emotional stress, like standing in the dark and screaming into the void with nobody being able to hear me... I can't even begin to imagine how my sister must've felt or how my mum is feeling now. Sometimes I think I'm too empathetic, the way I suffer with and for my beloved ones... that can't be healthy. I'm so tired.

Sorry to bother you with all this. I'm not around here that often anymore. Sadly I have to say I lost joy in many things I once loved or loved to do over the course of the last years. I'm unmotivated most of the time. But now... I have to function, I have to be there for my mum. It'll take half a year at least for her to recover from her surgery (if everything goes well - fingers crossed please!!!) and so I have to be strong - and I WILL be strong! For her! For my family! I hope my sister will support me then... The relationship of her and our mom is a little difficult... Sadly. But she's working on it..

I said I lost the joy in many things I loved once, but one thing I'll never get tired of is, on the rare occasions I visit this site, to read you all at our weekly BFSN, to see the 100 fam still being so creative and devoted, so that our favorite show never really gets forgotten. Thank you so much for that! And please keep tagging me in things! I read you, look at your photos, and I smile, even though I may not answer. This little corner of our fandom is so dear to me, it's almost a little like homecoming when I log in here. A comfort place.

Thank you all for your kind, empathetic, couraging, and motivational words at the last BFSN. I appreciate each and every one of it.

I hope the year has been kind to y'all and that these christmas holidays and the new year will be filled with tons of health, luck and love for you and all of us! Here's to a well deserved rest for us all!

It's tuesday again (right?). The weeks are really speeing by so fast, I can hardly keep track of the days. Nothing too exciting happening over here, although I did go out to our summer house on saturday to prepare to close the place down, and to plant some flowerbulbs. In the spring/summer there'll be some pretty flowers poking their heads out of the dirt :) I tried to show a bit of fall colours in that photo above but there wasn't much of it and you can't really tell because the pic is so dark. You get a moody landscape instead 😂

I'm way behind many of you, but tonight I'm taking the time to watch (again) the first two episodes of The 100, and I'd like to take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has been thinking, discussing, organizing, reblogging about @the100rewatch​. Thanks guys, it’s so cool !!! I'm also posting two photos I took earlier when the sun was setting. It's still cold, but the days are getting longer. I'm in the middle of a stressful period, because next week I have several interviews to go to, to try for a "promotion". I try to reason with myself that my life doesn't depend on it either... Short note on my behalf: The surgery of my mom yesterday went well. The tumor in her spine is removed, and although she has strong pain from the wound (despite the strong painkillers), she can already say that she still can move her legs and feet a little! Since it is the weekend, she'll get the results of the surgery itself and informations about the nature of the tumor only on monday. She isn't allowed to move and feels very weak, but all in all, these are good news, and we're all SO RELIEVED at the moment! When her first message arrived, it had been 8 hours since the beginning of the surgery! I was so anxious the whole time yesterday... And when her message arrived, I cried out of sheer relief. Now, it's time for patience and recovery. Everything will find its way now, and now, JUST NOW, 2024 can really start for me.

Thank y'all for your kind wishes and words and for thinking of us. I can not put into words how important it was for me. It still is. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🥹🫂🫂🫂🧡🧡🧡
