Okay I've been thinking about Owl House a lot lately and...Guys I'm just so damn angry. Because I rewatched the first episode of the finale and realized something. That first episode is a season finale—That whole episode is one season's worth of content crammed into a single episode. That's at LEAST 12 episodes in 60 minutes—five minutes for each damn episode. But remember the first season of toh was nineteen, the second was twenty-one. If we assume the team would have continued with around that many episodes the average is around twenty. Twenty fucking episodes is sixty minutes—THREE MINUTES AN EPISODE.

This then led me to thinking about my other cancelled show with LGBTQ+ representation—Steven Universe. It's basically the same shit, except somehow fucking worst. The diamond arc should have been it's own fucking season, curing the corrupted gems and them having to get reintroduced to gem/human society should have been a damn season too! The two year time skip makes sense when you really think about it—that's the least amount of time it would have taken to get all that shit done in universe! A year to get the gems readjusted, a year to dismantle the diamond empire—plus episodes filling in gaps/unanswered questions. No wonder Rebecca fought so damn hard for SU Future and the movie! It was a desperate attempt to give herself and the fans some kind of closure! And don't forget! Steven universe seasons were LONG—the median amount of episodes was twenty-four.

This shit wasn't bad writing, it was rushed writing. Desperate attempts to cram what should have been at LEAST two seasons into a few short episodes. Can you imagine this? Sitting with your coworkers and trying to figure out how to make at least forty episodes only 3–6? What can be kept and what has to be left to the imagination? Think of what we fucking lost at those tables—Spinel could have been teased and had a better build up, we could have gotten a Wittebane Brothers flashback, we could have explored the characters in both shows trauma. I'm not just mad—I'm livid and not even for us. For Dana Terrace, for Rebecca Sugar. To have something you created thrown away without a care. I'd be in fucking tears.

Fuck Disney, fuck Warner Brothers.

Introducing New Life core

You may be asking, "What's a life core?"

Allow me to explain a life core allows its host to create. This could be anything from inanimate objects to something akin to poison ivy level (or a darker mad scientist Dr. Victor Frankenstein level)

So I propose a Fic in which Danny himself has a life core and uses it to be poison ivy without the Eco-terrorism or he fights someone with a life core I don't know this idea came to me randomly and I must write about it can we normalize the life core?

Also just imagine the confrontation between the bats and the birds and Danny, him having to explain that no he isn't a poison ivy clone and no he will not use his powers for Eco-terrorism please stop asking

Additionally King Danny turning pariah's haunt into something akin to pink diamonds garden and the Steven Universe movie covered wall to wall and pretty Vines and flowers that may or may not be fluorescent

Two cute and pretty gender nonconforming jesters from space who are so silly and sweet and a little bit fucked up and loud and have anger / abandonment issues and two sides and pretty eyelashes and whore eyes and names that start with S.

They have a baby (also from space). She gets that passion for theater, great fashion sense, celestial theme, and a sprinkle of perfectionism from her dad; and the humor, temper, creativity, and ability to kick major ass from her mom. Cute as fuck like both of them, too.

yknow i was actually wary of the SU movie before it came out? i just don't have much faith in a series turning into "the movie", especially something as sprawling and nuanced as SU. but omg the animated musical SERVE <3 i'm such a sucker for the whole "10 new songs in 90 minutes" thing (when the songs are good, of course). i miss 2d animated musicals so bad </3

like, i get people wanting toh/spop/etc to have their own movies, just to explore those worlds more... but more than that, irrespective of it being a property i know or care about, i just want more 2d musicals. animation has such a unique chance to make movie musicals work, they inherently have that wonderful stylization that clicks so well with a world in which emotion can be poured out in song.

this is also just a stealth post about how i want more animated musicals in general, btw. whether its a show or movie. like we are going through what many people feel is this new "golden age of animation," and i'm just sitting here like. where are the musicals!!! where are the big feelings that just cannot be expressed with words alone!! where are the dreamlike scenes that float between imagination and reality where you can show who you truly are!!!

like I wasn’t a huge bispearl person during the run of the original series- they were cute, ofc, but now it’s like, with 20-20 hindsight, she’s honestly such a healthy ship for Pearl, because with Pearl’s last romantic infatuation being with her former owner, and with it being very based in the hegemonic and strict gem caste that her feelings formed, who else would be a better fit for Pearl’s break from her old ways of thinking than Bismuth?
