Older!Cotc AU Info

Hello!! I wanted to make a post with all my hcs/ideas of both the older creek kids and next generation creek kids. These are all headcanons of course!! 💝😊💝 This post follows the Stump Gang & main next Gen Kids.

Craig & Omar:

Before they got together, they used to date other people.

For Craig (from middle school to high school): Vanessa, Eileen, Canon Ball, & Dianne.

For Omar (MS to HS): Jp & Toman.

There was a 2-3 year gap where Omar & Craig hadn’t seen each other due to Omar leaving to college outside of Herkleton.

During a college break, Omar returned to Herkleton where the two reconnected. Since then they've been inseparable.

Craig (28) works as a carpenter contractor. Omar (30) works from home as a welder.

Craig still has a passion for art and still creates projects on the side (both personal and professional work).

They have one child as of right now named Sonya (3). Isabella/Stack’s is her surrogate mother.

Since Omar stays at home the most, Sonya favors him more over Craig (rip Craig 😔😂)

These two act like carbon copies of Craig’s parents with how openly goofy and affectionate they are to one another & to Sonya.

They own 1 cat and 1 big St. Bernard.

Kelsey & Isabella:

These two are the definition of childhood sweethearts. They’ve had a few fights sure but never broken up or took breaks from each other.

Kelsey (27) is the school coach at Herkleton High School. Isabella (27) works at the Library.

Even with their separate jobs, they still find time to write together and brainstorm on new story ideas. They still plan on releasing a novel together ❤️

When Craig & Omar were looking for a surrogate, Kelsey had offered to be it for them. But after they told her what she could and couldn’t do for 9 months she backed out. (Isabella happily volunteered afterwards)

They have 2 adopted kids together: Jamie (9) & Laura (10).

As a family they like to go to the gym or park together to exercise and bond. Kelsey & Jamie work out more for muscle/strength where as Isabella & Laura exercise for fun.

Aside from exercising, they like to read books together! Though it’s harder for Jamie to join in at first (he’s dyslexic). With some help & patience he’ll get there tho 💪🏽🌟🌟

As adults and parents they still have that fire & ice attitude!! Kelsey being very energetic & outspoken for her family while being warm & welcoming to them/others. Isabella being calm & understanding of her families needs while being strong & assertive when she needs to set someone straight or be a shoulder to lean on.

They own 3 birds & 1 bearded dragon.

Jp & Maney:

During the first year of high school they actually took a break from each other. Jp had dated Omar shortly while Maney dating someone else. During the end of Junior year they reconnected with each other.

Jp (29) works as a mechanic with the Junklord. Maney (29) works at a horse sanctuary & therapy organization called “Hugs for Horses”.

Despite Laura’s words of caution, Jp & Maney end up having a baby together sooner than expected.

When Marcello was born, he had water in his lungs. He had to stay in an incubator for 3 days. When MJ learned about this, he was 100% convinced he was part fish.

Out of all the Stump kids, Jp has kept the most in touch with kids from the creek. If there was as ever a kid from the creek someone wanted to contact, Jp was the guy to go to!

Despite being older & wiser now, Jp still ends up with a broken bone or two every once in a while. Maney wishes he’d be more careful whereas MJ thinks he’s invincible.

Maney still keeps close contact with Kelsey. You’ll often catch her on the phone with Kels planning their hikes together.

As parents they’re both very laid back. MJ doesn’t cause them much of a hassle so they don’t feel the need to be stern with him.

The Mercers don’t own any pets but do take care of the stray cats & dogs that live in their neighborhood (they feed them, make sure they’re not hurt, and are spayed/neutered.

MJ, Nancy, & Sonya

MJ (8) & Nancy (8) don’t have a designated hang out spot. They text each other on where to meet before they go and explore.

Their adventures focus less on exploring the creek and more on how much they can do that day.

MJ has a bucket list of all the things he’d want to do at the creek. When the list starts to run short, he either makes up more or ask other creek kids what to do.

Nancy has a very macabre sense of humor & vibe. She’s fascinated with the concept of life & death (especially with death).

Nancy lives with her grandmother & her older brother.

When Nancy grows up she’d like to be a mortician. When MJ grows up he’d like to be able to touch the top of the fridge.

Nancy always carries her Lil Oopsie Doll named Syd with her where ever she goes. No one is allowed to hold, let alone touch, Syd. MJ is the only acceptation.

If the weathers ever terrible at the creek, these two always run to The Williams house and make themselves at home. (MJ knocks, Nancy gets in through the back.)

Craig & Omar are used to MJ’s visits, they’re not used to Nancy’s. She has the tendency to sneak up behind them and every time it scares the living daylight out of them.

Sonya absolutely adores Nancy and is always happy when the two older kids visit her home.

Sonya’s not ready for the creek yet but has tried to sneak off into it. The farthest she’s explored to was her backyard before getting scared and running back inside. That’s all I have to share for now!! My apologies for any typos & grammatical errors 😵

Fave Long Fics

good ol' @arahir is asking for everyone's fave long fics, so here are mine!

sorry if the rambling is a bit long, I just want to express my love <3

🌟: denotes a fic that belongs in the literary equivalent of the Louvre-- a stunning piece of writing even outside of its contribution to the fandom

JJBA

🌟 scheherazade -- shylittleghost; Josuke/Okuyasu-centric, but multiple POVs; canon-compliant prequel/sequel to part 4, necessary to read/watch part 4 to understand

this is one of those fics that not only elevates the original work in several ways, but it's a stunning piece of writing as a whole. the flow and tone of the piece is so unique and difficult to describe, with a fitting balance between mystery/horror and deadpan humor, and uses the narrating voice to play with the 4th wall in a really fun and satisfying way. oh, and one of the last chapters is a little RPG game, adding a bit little multimedia twist <3

BEASTARS

🌟 Mongrels and Strays series (mainly Mongrels and Lockjaw)-- HassouToby; technically Mongrels' primary ships are Legosi/Haru and Louis/Juno, but it's more genfic with multiple POVs. Lockjaw is Pina/Riz-centric; canon divergence from ch 156 of the manga, so it's necessary to read at least that far to understand

I have a complicated love/hate relationship with Beastars, but this fic honestly retroactively makes Beastars a better experience, imo. it not only enhances the source material, but engages and challenges its implications in ways that I frankly think Beastars itself failed to, introducing a new final antagonist, new thematic tension, and new challenges for the main characters to face. more than anything though, Mongrels feels like what the end of Beastars should have been. this fic isn’t afraid to up the stakes and have actual consequences, making the central conflict feel like a real threat to both individual characters and society as a whole. this fic is intense and brutal, and it’s not afraid to make the characters you love hurt

Homestuck

🌟 Detective Pony -- sonnetstuck; Dirk-centric(??); it's an extension of a one-off joke in the comic, but it's not necessary to know HS to read it (but it's def more satisfying if you're at least familiar with the Alpha kids)

does this fic even need to be stated, for any HS fan? this is a classic of classics, the best rec any HS fan could give. a fic that starts off with a goofy joke from the original comic (a Pony Pals kid's book that Dirk has edited with silly commentary), which gradually snowballs into a much deeper story. a stunning piece of writing, I rank it among the best works of metafiction literature of all time. this fic does an incredible job of imitating Hussie's writing style (specifically Dirk's voice) and the multi-media presentation of HS, it almost feels like it popped straight out of the comic

Endangered -- Mortior; Dirk/Hal, Dirk-centric; robot-apocalypse AU, not necessary to know anything about HS

rly fun au, and one of my fave whump fics, for any whump fans out there. it's also one of my favorite depictions of an AI personality, like the approach to relationships and perceptions feels believable

The Magnus Archives

🌟 Two Ships Passing -- pyrites; Gerry Keay/Jon Sims-centric; a canon-divergent au starting before canon which slightly shifts the flow of the original story, so it's not strictly necessary to be familiar with TMA, but it helps

I must admit I never got around to finishing this one after it finished updating (😭), but trust me when I say this fic is stunning. some scenes still grip me 'round the throat to this day even just thinking about them. and the additional lore/background-building for certain characters is so so fitting and satisfying, it adds so much depth

To The Moon and Back series (main fic is Banned Book Week) -- verboseDescription; several different POVs, though BBB is Gerry/Tim-centric; the main fic diverges from canon after season 3, so I suppose knowledge up to that point is fine

another one I need to get around to finishing someday (idk why I dropped off a bunch of TMA fics specifically...), but this one introduces some interesting new character dynamics, and additional lore-building for many of the characters that adds fun new depth. also a few OCs whom I simply adore <3

What Belongs to the Sea -- TwoDrunkenCelestials, WhyNotFly; starts Elias/Jon, with Jon/Martin endgame, Jon-centric; "Jon is a selkie" au, and the fic implies/explains the rest of canon well enough to read without being familiar with TMA imo

this fic approaches canon worldbuilding from the direction of a different species, giving a unique new perspective on established truths of the setting. I also love the way Jon's character is so different, but still fundamentally the same kinda guy-- "fuck around and find out"-ass man lmao. not to mention Elias' fucked-up dynamic with Jon is ramped up here in a really delicious way, it rly puts their canon dynamic into perspective

Danny Phantom

🌟 Phantom of Truth / Shadow of a Doubt -- HaiJu; Danny Fenton & Maddie Fenton-centric; "what if" scenario divergence from an unspecific point in canon, would prolly be best to be familiar with the show but u can prolly get away with some wiki skimming

this one's a classic, and one of the big contributors to the "dissection/vivisection" genre of whump in the DP fandom, haha. it's such an intimate analysis of Danny's relationship with his mom, and it refuses to pull punches on Danny's situation and resulting trauma. I think it also does an excellent job challenging Maddie's perception/ethics in genuine and fundamental ways

Rise of the Guardians (movie)

🌟 Shadows and Light series -- not_poignant; Jack Frost/Pitch Black, Jack-centric; canon-compliant sequel to the movie (can't speak for book canon), u can prolly get away with reading a wiki summary if u don't wanna watch the movie

one of my fave fics for a decade now, I absolutely LOVE what this fic does for ROTG worldbuilding. so much thought is put into the politics of the fae community, and how magic functions both practically and thematically. and it introduces a ton of cool fae ocs, many of which now have their own stories, as the author has used their fae world here in other original stories as well (would also recommend!!). and the relationship between Pitch/Jack is excellent of course, with a lot of interesting BDSM elements to their dynamic (a common trend in this author's other writing as well)

Mob Psycho 100

🌟 A Breach of Trust -- Phantomrose96; Ritsu, Mob, & Reigen-centric, but multiple other POVs as well; diverges from canon before the start of the canon story, so knowing MP100 isn't necessary

this is a really fun "what if Reigen and Mob didn't meet when they were supposed to?" canon-divergent au. it pushes basically every character to their worst, most self-destructive ends, and it makes me want to throttle some of them (affectionate <3). the fic isn't done yet (as of posting this), but it promises to end satisfyingly-- it just has to put everyone through the wringer first lmao

Welcome to Night Vale

🌟 run, run, fast as you-- -- (orphaned); Cecil/Carlos, Carlos-centric; compliant with early NV lore, mostly diverges in some of Carlos' background and motivations moving to Night Vale. familiarity with s1 would be useful, but not strictly necessary

really really stunning fic, I love the additional lore-building for Carlos and Cecil here, so much is added to their characters. since this is such an old fic, some of the lore here ends up being retroactively false, as the podcast introduced different lore later on. but I almost wish some of the lore here was canon b/c it's just that good (like Cecil's whole thing with the orphanage, and how the orphanage even functions OUGH!)

The Devil Went Down To Georgia (you heard that right, the country song)

🌟 The Devil Went Down to Georgia (And Then Went Down on Johnny) series -- notbecauseofvictories; Johnny/The Devil, Johnny-centric; I guess a modern take on canon, kinda treated like an original story tbh, but like. you can also just listen to the song beforehand

the author clearly has a deep knowledge and passion for music-- especially country music-- and it rly shines through in this fic. the celebration of music and community and country culture here is just. idk, it's like being invited to the table, somehow, I love it. this whole fic is poetry and it makes me ache

Portal

Blue Sky -- wafflestories; Wheatley/Chell-centric; canon-compliant sequel to the second game, necessary to know the games to understand

I must admit it's been several years since I've read this one, so my memory of it isn't quite as strong. but I remember it being a very loving rehabilitation of Wheatley and Chell's relationship, and I believe it's considered a classic by the ship's fans.

How To Train Your Dragon (movie)

I Hear Him Scream -- Rift-Raft; Toothless & Hiccup-centric; diverges from canon at the point when Hiccup downs Toothless with the net at the beginning of the movie, so watching the movie isn't super necessary, tho I imagine most of us have seen it (as we should!!)

I don't know that I would call this one particularly well-written-- it can get kinda awkward and jarring at points, and the end of the story kinda goes off the rails for me. but the premise and worldbuilding make up for it, imo. but I admit I love xenofiction, so I love seeing the deep lore about dragon culture/society this fic presents

Kekkai Sensen

Fleißiger Junge -- TheLennyBunny; Klaus/Leo, Leo-centric; demon/angel au, not necessary to know KKSS

I really love the demon/angel worldbuilding in this one, with a delicious twist of horror that's so fitting to canon /chef's kiss/. and the way Leo's family is characterized (with several OC characters) is so so fun and charming. good eating for the starving Klaus/Leo fans out there 😭

RWBY

🌟 Teaching Qrow -- ByronNightshade; Qrow-centric; a canon-compliant prequel to the canon story, a bit of knowledge about the setting and Qrow's backstory are kinda necessary

I fucking love what this fic does for Qrow's character, it treats him with way more nuance and understanding than canon ever has (tho tbf, most Qrow fans do, lol). and all the additional OCs and building on the subtle implications of RWBY lore... AUGH it's good

My Hero Academia

Hero Class Civil Warfare -- RogueDruid; genfic with multiple POVs; "what if" scenario divergence from an unspecific point in canon, prolly necessary to at least be familiar with the world/characters to a point

really fun "what if this class exercise got got a bit too intense, haha~" au. it introduces a ton of fun new dynamics between the characters, and lets Izuku shine as a badass, chessmaster "villain"

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint

Imaginary Truths -- Mythril; Kim Dokja/Yoo Joonghyuk-centric; actor au, not necessary to know ORV

this fic does an excellent job translating the canon relationships/dynamics to this setting, and keeps the core of the story/themes intact in rly interesting ways.

new game (+) -- illusionedwhite; Kim Dokja/Yoo Joonghyuk, Yoo Joonghyuk-centric; role-reversal au, and since it starts from the beginning where where canon would have started, I guess it's not technically necessary to read ORV first? but ORV provides more context

this fic is rly careful about the particular way Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk switch roles-- it's very much about their story roles. their core characters/themes remain intact, they're just interpreted through a new lens here. this is for the fans that read ORV and thought, "what if I want to read ORV again, but slightly to the left?"

Genshin Impact

🌟 Begin Anew, O Lost Child -- DarthPeezy; Childe/Zhongli/Guizhong, Childe-centric; a time-travel au that diverges from canon at the battle with Osial in the Liyue chapter, so familiarity up to that point is necessary

there's something about circularity and connection, here. about reaching across expanses of time to connect with those you love, and those you lost. about the horror of fate, and the hope for a future in spite of it. idk, this fic did something to me

we were lovers -- ThirteenSocks; Kazuha/his unnamed friend, Kazuha-centric; "Kazuha loses his vision" au, with a few twists. this fic doesn't really touch canon involving the traveler, but familiarity with Inazuma is necessary, so at least up through that chapter in-game.

what else can I say except this fic is beautiful-- it has the same melodic quality that I associate with Kazuha himself, so it feels perfectly appropriate.

To Be or Not To Be (Human With You) -- lilbittofmatcha; Aether/Scaramouche, Aether-centric; diverges after the end of the whole Sumeru chapter, familiarity up to that point is necessary

I really really love Traveler fics that acknowledge that the Traveler is essentially an otherworldy alien being, and was perhaps even godlike(??) before landing in Teyvat. I especially love Aether's characterization here, and the obvious comparisons to be made with Scara's situation

Sinking Ships in Liyue Harbor -- whereherbonesareburied; Diluc/Kaeya, Diluc-centric; a "what if Kaeya left" divergence from canon sometime after the events of the Mondstadt chapter. it's necessary to be familiar with Kaeya and Diluc's relationship, so reading up on their lore is best, though familiarity up through the Liyue chapter will help with this one

something about the pacing and framing of this fic really charms me. like, Diluc's journey to find Kaeya is kinda framed as a series meetings with several new people, like snapshots from a photo album? it's fun to see so many different, brief impressions of characters through his eyes

a fic I never ended up finishing (someday..), but I remember it being incredibly trippy and bizarre in the best of ways. though it may not be the best fic to read dealing with dissociation themself, because it grapples a lot with warped perception and hallucinations

this one's perhaps on the razor's edge of not being long enough for this list, but I'm counting it anyways. there's something about 'brief' writing styles that often captures me, like parsing a scene down to its bare essentials makes the tone/emotion land more powerfully. this fic is probably my favorite example of this style

The Rites of Courtship -- calibratingentropy; Keith/Thace, Keith-centric; canon-divergence from the end of s1 ep12, and it's kinda necessary to be familiar at least to that point, though u might be able to skim the wiki

a rarepair I never woulda considered if a friend hadn't recced this fic to me way back, haha. this fic features some of my favorite alien worldbuilding, with a lot of thought and care put into Galran culture and biology, I think about it a lot as a specevo creator myself

The Favored Champion -- sugarapplesweet; Sendak/Shiro, Shiro-centric; canon-divergence before canon, while Shiro is still a coliseum fighter

real fucked-up Stockholm Syndrome abusive relationship, Shiro goes thru the wringer </3. I love the way the relationship with the Lions is depicted here too, the chapter where Shiro basically screams at the Black Lion grips me by the throat. another great example of cool Galra worldbuilding too, not as heavy on the bio side as the last one but fun to see either way!

I don't often read fics from things I'm not familiar with, but I trust my friend's recs with my life, and this one did not disappoint. I can't speak on how faithful it is to the original, but Ichigo/Quiche's dynamic here makes me go crazy nutso bonkers!! it has me banging on the walls and chewing furniture, oh my god!! it almost makes me wanna watch the show even tho I know I won't like it nearly as much as this fic 😭.

we have a hs au for them both and in that one kim doesnt really fight or resist, she has no reason to. but if we go by the au where they meet up again later in life and get together then; sure, she does have some Conflicts tm about it. mostly because her life has been so full of hurt and baggage and she’s miserable enough, having unrequited emotions on top is really not ideal. but she moves on to accepting them and then resolves to just live with the ache and discomfort that comes with it. her every move comes with both a fear and a premonition of self-sabotage, and that applies to her keeping quiet and her bursts of manic desperation both

Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?

this is related to the previous q haha but! sometimes she goes through bursts of I Have To Act/I Have To Ruin My Life. which is how a confession goes (in the many, many aus,,,,,,) but usually it’s kim at a tipping point who makes the first move to change their relationship. in one of the aus she uh. dine and dashed 🕺 his ass. which is what prompted him to really look at their relationship

Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)?

if they met as kids he would be her first puppy love <3 and also her first tattoo! he did her stick and poke!!

kim doesn’t really do PDA (touch anxiety) but allows a little of it. in private though she initiates when she thinks he needs contact and lets him get away with more than anyone else. he can octopus around her and she’ll put up w it <3

parallel play. she likes to watch him garden or (attempts to) cook! it’s all very gross and domestic

i’d say both of them are, though it’s more evident from kim’s side as raf is way more passive and hand-wavey, while she’s more action prone and also just has an unhinged amount of rage and violence in her

kim has a kitty cat who adopted her which she aptly named mèo and raf has a giant dog he named babka!!!! after they ‘retire’ ofc. mèo was an underdeveloped tiny gray stray who got scars and one clipped ear. he looks normal ish when kim holds him but hilariously tiny in raf’s hand. she used to let him come and go as she would still frequently leave on individual monster hunt (hence the ‘retire’) but raf accidentally domesticated him for real real so one time she took her good time returning all beat up and mèo shot out from under babka to claw his way up her jeans complaining so so loudly. and that’s how he moved in with kim

Who’s the better cook?

kim. without a shadow of a doubt. she still struggles a fair amount but it’s still better than raf. like she’d still eat his cooking but they both know she gotta take over here while he sits around looking pretty

chan has little siblings so you already know this man is going to be great with the child you have together. you’ve talked about it often while you two were dating and it was great that you guys were on the same page and couldn’t wait to have a little stray baby to call your own.

he’d be the type of dad to sing to his kid whenever he could. when they were still a newborn, you’d hold the baby in your arms and laid your head on chan’s shoulder while he sang until you both fell asleep. when they were afraid of the dark and couldn’t sleep, chan would be in their room singing a lullaby or some silly fairy tale song to ward off the monsters. as your kid grew older, sometimes they thought him singing about everything and anything was a little annoying, but their childhood wouldn’t be complete without his honey singing voice.

The Cool Dad, or at least tries to be LOL. you and chan are more on the younger side, so sometimes you two will try to be the hip and young parents around your teenage kid’s friends and sometimes it’s cool like if chan plays sports or whatever, but it can get really cringey real fast when you guys try to talk like the cool kids. but hey, you two must be doing something cool if you’re both asked to chaperone the dances all the time!

he’s an emotional dude, so every milestone your kid goes through, he’ll most likely tear up and it’s the cutest thing! this is especially true for when your kid is younger, like when you witness their first concert, or play, or sports game - catch chan with the camera filming every moment and tearing up (”you’re doing great, sweetie!!!!!”). as they grow older, more serious things like their first date, or prom, or when they move out to go to university is when you’ll catch him tearing up.

along with being an amazing dad, he’s an amazing husband, and he thinks that’s one of the most important lessons he can teach your kid - the importance of loving your spouse. he makes sure that your kid knows how well he treats you and especially how important it is to settle arguments. if you have a son, he’ll tell him all he knows about being a good boyfriend/husband, and if you have a daughter, he’ll set her expectations of men so high that no one could ever reach that potential. truly, he loves you and your kid(s) a whole lot.

I'm thinking HS or College AU (I'm on a bit of a young Tony kick, sue me 🤷‍♀️) but if preferred this could also work with age difference and the professional world too.

Anyway, adapt as needed for the other versions but I'm proceeding with a HS Boarding School AU

Imagine an extremely elite specialised school. Gotta apply to get in; gotta interview to get in; (lowkey gotta bribe some admissions folks to get in); gotta pay $80k+ a year to get in.

Gotta put up with some weird House System / intense Greek Life / secret societies hazing bullshit.

Scholarship recipient Peter Parker is new, I'm thinking 9th - 11th grade

Parker's a real smarty-pants: everyone already knows about him because someone's Dad — *cough* Howard Stark *cough* — pulled some strings and found out that Parker got 100% on his entrance exams. Wrote "the best essay" the Dean had ever read. Brought flowers to his interview to spruce up the office and won over the whole Student Life team

So everyone knows who Peter is before he even shows up. Doesn't matter. He figures he'll just keep his head down, work hard, get good grades, win over a teacher for a good rec letter, and then he'll be set.

Enter a few snafus. Namely: elitism and bullying. And it gets pretty intense.

Re: Way too intense.

Parker impresses the chem teacher? Trip him next time he's walking past the classroom. The Dean likes Parker? Bust his locker so that he's late to every class. Wake him up in the middle of the night. Steal his clothes when he's in the shower. Dump his textbooks in the river. Tell him over and over again that all of this is normal and just the school culture — and the unfortunate thing is, that's the truth.

Then someone gets ahold of Parker's medical forms.

Guess who has a nut allergy?

One thing leads to another and that little nut allergy is actually extremely lethal.

Peter's at his breaking point — why wouldn't he be, his classmates just tried to fucking murder him.

He’s in the hospital and goes to call his aunt to pick him up because this is not worth it.

Guess what suave rich asshole strides into the room and snatches the phone right out of his hand?

One Tony Stark.

A year or two above Parker. He was able to get behind some of the hazing but the whole murder-by-peanut thing was way out of hand. On behalf of the Elitist-Student-Body, Tony apologises to Peter. And really, that’s worth a lot.

Tony tells Peter it’s all about weathering the storm. He’ll come out the other side, he’ll be accepted by the student body, things will get better.

Peter says no way. He’s going home. This is not worth it.

Tony says “hey, you gotta at least make it through the semester. We’ve got XYZ Big Expo at the end of the semester, you don’t wanna miss that. Students get to make their own invention and present it to a bunch of important people and other specialised school bullshit”

Peter thinks about it but says no, better off returning to Queens

Tony says "what if you and I work together on our project? That’ll win over the other students faster anyway. And I’ve got this cool idea" (Tony presents ABC cool idea for the XYZ Student Expo. Peter has to admit, it’s a really cool idea.)

Teasing, Tony goes “Come on, Parker, I’m not gonna let you call your aunt to pick you up. Just give us one more chance. It’ll be worth it.”

So Peter agrees to partner with Tony on this project. True to Tony’s word, the other kids stop bullying Peter and he actually has friends now because any friend of Tonys is a friend of Steve and Bucky and Sam and Rhodey and Happy and Scott and —

Wow, Peter has a lot of friends now. It’s kinda nice.

And Tony is so nice. He always compliments Peter’s ideas and pays for anything they need to tinker around with for their project and he brings around Peter’s favourite candy and they pseudo-adopt a stray dog together.

And then there’s a really nice dinner. Rhodey and Happy were supposed to meet them but couldn’t. So it’s just Tony and Peter. Peter feels shy about it but Tony keeps things comfortable and casual and fun.

Then Tony tells him one night sitting on the balcony of their dorm, “You know I’m gay too.”

Peter tries to protest but Tony says he shouldn’t try to hide it, it’s obvious

“Actually, Parker, I’m gay too and… and I think I like you.”

So now Peter and Tony are dating. And everyone knows about it. And everyone’s okay with it.

December comes and Peter is on cloud 9: he’s got lots of friends, he’s succeeding at school, he has a wonderful boyfriend who he trusts and genuinely enjoys spending time with.

Peter even tells Tony about Ben, and how he thought it was his fault, and he’s had trouble letting that go or dealing with it

Tony talks him through it, reassures him, comforts him. Tony is everything Peter has ever wanted in his partner.

XYZ Expo rolls around. The night before, Tony tells Peter he loves him. They get everything set up at Tony’s apartment/dorm room/whatever that night, then go back to Peter’s where they have sex and Peter falls asleep.

Peter wakes up early to get ready and Tony’s not there. Whatever, he probably just went back to his place to get ready.

Except Peter is locked into his room

And his phone is gone

By the time Peter breaks the window, clambers down the side of the building, and makes it to the Expo, things are winding down. Steve and Bucky stop Peter at the door before he can burst in and they all watch as Tony finishes his presentation, taking all the credit for this big project he and Peter worked on.

The Presidents of MIT and Harvard and Oxford go to shake Tony’s hand and offer their cards and talk admissions and careers and the whole-nine-yards.

Peter is ignoring the smirks on Steve and Bucky’s faces, trying to figure out the mistake because surely there’s been some mistake and then he gets to Tony and Tony sees him and —

“You were just too damn easy, Parker. Better luck next time.”

And sure it’s not like the whole school is there watching and laughing. It’s not like Peter’s naked or anything. But even just him and Tony and two people who he thought were his friends is enough to make it feel like he's being crushed.

“Was any of this real?”

“Your research was. Thanks for that, by the way.”

Steve says something cruel, but Peter can’t make it out. His ears are ringing too loud. And his heart is breaking and none of this was real and he —

Tony steps toward him, smile gentling a little. He reaches into his pocket.

“Here’s your phone back. I’ll let you call your aunt now.”

July 13th

Cheerleader/Stoner HS AU

“He’s looking at you again.” MC said and nudged Yoosung with her elbow.

“Stop it! No he isn’t, he’s probably looking at you.” He retorted and continued to stretch, reaching for his left foot as he sat on the ground, legs spread apart as far as they would go. MC shook her head.

“Uh uh, he’s gay, and you’re the only one with a penis over here.”

“Oh my god! How would you even know he’s gay? What a rotten rumor, just because he isn’t interested in any of the girls that throw themselves at him. Maybe he has standards.” He scoffed.

“Sure, all the standards of a stoner.” MC scoffed right back.

“Wow, way to generalize. You don’t even know him.”

“And you do?”

“I didn’t say that, I just mean, don’t judge.”

“I may not know him, but you’re right about one thing, he isn’t your general stoner.”

“I know, he’s like super smart. The teachers love him because he doesn’t cause any problems and does all his work fast. He’s probably the smartest kid in the school…” Yoosung stopped when he heard MC laughing. “What’s so funny?”

“For someone who isn’t interested, you sure know a lot.”

Yoosung snapped his mouth shut. So what if he’d asked a couple of questions about Saeran? It was only because he’d overheard the teachers talking about him while Yoosung was in the office helping out.

“Just, be quiet OK. He’s going to hear you.” They both stood, side by side, legs apart and began to bend at the waist, stretching more. It was important to prepare their bodies before beginning practice.

He couldn’t help it, he snuck a peek at the bleachers and locked eyes with Saeran. He looked away quickly, as if it had been an accident. His heart rate increased and sweat broke out all over his body. It happened every time he saw the guy. Something about him just seemed to ignite a craving that was insatiable. He’d bleached his hair during summer break and added pink tips at the beginning of the school year. He wore a red shirt, a leather jacket, skinny jeans and biker boots. He usually wore eyeliner and a spiked collar, but Yoosung couldn’t see for sure if he did now. It looked good on him though.

“Sure.” MC rolled her eyes, as she stretched in the same direction as Yoosung. His blond hair was pulled back in a small tight pony, his white school t-shirt was cropped, and his gym shorts were tight around his ample ass and crotch. His amethyst eyes strayed to the bleachers continuously.

It certainly seemed like Saeran was looking at him. He could feel those brilliant amber eyes on him. He tried to shake himself, it wasn’t very manly to swoon. Though he supposed being a cheerleader wasn’t manly either, but he’d like to see one of those jocks try and do a backflip into a perfect split!

There was movement out of the corner of his eye, and he glanced back just in time to see Saeran step down from the bleachers and head around back. It meant nothing of course, but he felt a little sad. He’d been looking forward to try and show off his moves. Flexibility was sexy right? No use in wallowing in his absence, time to practice.

They both ran towards the group already practicing and joined in. They rehearsed the cheers they knew by heart and learned the new dance routine their captain had prepared. Yoosung liked dancing, even more than the gymnastic and cheers part of being a cheerleader. But his head just wasn’t in it. His thoughts wandered back to Saeran. Was MC right? Was he gay? People said that about him all the time, but they were just assholes, trying to make fun of him because he didn’t want to join any of their cliques.

“Ow! Damn it Yoosung! Pay attention! You almost dropped me!” Hena screamed at him as she hit the ground roughly but still on her feet.

“Ah, sorry, sorry.” Yoosung shook himself, it was dangerous to not pay attention while doing the stunts they did. He felt terrible.

“I think that’s it for you Yoosung, why don’t you hit the showers.” Ashie, the cheer captain ordered with a shake of her head. She didn’t even look at him as he walked away. MC gave him a pitying look as he passed her and a squeeze of his upper arm. He nodded his thanks but knew he was in big trouble. He wouldn’t lose his spot on the team, but Ashie would make him pay for sure. He did as he was told and showered then put his uniform back on. The top was of the same style as the females, but with sleeves and longer, and the pants were plain white and loose fitting with stirrups for his feet so they wouldn’t ride up.

Grabbing his bag, he set out towards the busses. It was the last run but wouldn’t leave for another hour because it was set to take the kids home who had after school activities. Crossing the grassy area next to the track where the football players and cheerleaders were practicing, he glanced towards the bleachers and saw Saeran standing underneath. At least, he assumed it was him, all he saw was a patch of bleached hair. Without making a conscious decision his steps carried him towards the area. Before he realized where he was, he stood under the bleachers almost eye to eye with the taller boy. He held a newly rolled up joint, but only played with it as he watched Yoosung approach.

“Oh, uh, hi…” he stumbled and felt like an idiot.

“Hey.” Saeran answered and took a few steps towards Yoosung, standing close to him. Yoosung watched as Saeran reached his hand and traced his finger down his face. He swallowed at the touch, shivers crawling down his spine. They were so close! Close enough to kiss! The thought sprang into his mind, and he could feel himself burning up. He wanted to look away, but he was held firm in those amber eyes. They were clear, so he it seemed he hadn’t smoked anything yet. There was indeed black eyeliner around his eyes, the edges smudged to give him an edgier look. His nails were painted black, and he wondered what their hands would look like intertwined as his own nails were currently a bubblegum pink.

“Can I tell you something?” Saeran asked, so close he felt the warmth of his breath on his cheek. Yoosung nodded numbly, his body beginning to vibrate. “You are beautiful.” The sentence was short and to the point whispered intimately into his ear. Yoosung’s heart stopped beating, his eyes widening. He felt faint and stumbled towards Saeran, who caught him in his arms easily. It only made his reaction worse to feel the boy’s hands on his body. Once he was steady on his feet again Saeran took a step back.

“Sorry.” He let go of Yoosung and moved an arm’s length away. The joint was back in his hand as he turned and looked through the bleachers at the track and everyone still at practice. It felt like someone had doused him with a bucket of cold water. He wanted to reach out and touch Saeran again, but his body’s response left him shocked and confused. “Saeyoung says I’m too intense sometimes.” He kept his gaze away from Yoosung. “Heh…that’s me I guess, either no interest or too much interest.”

“Am I…interesting?” Yoosung asked.

“Very.” Saeran answered. There was a full minute of silence as they both let that sink in. There was a small smile on Saeran’s lips as he seemed to be mulling over something. Yoosung thought he could stand there and stare at the boy for the rest of his life. That smile was heavenly. Beautiful? Yes, Saeran was an angel!

“Do you read poetry?” he asked, his amber gaze once more piercing through Yoosung’s heart.

“Poetry? No…I…no.” the question took him aback, why were they now talking about poetry?

“I do. I like poetry. The way it flows, the language it uses to describe something so sublime there really are no words, yet…they try.” He turned towards Yoosung again and took a step forward.

“Cloaked in darkness with an icy heart

I roamed this earth.

Head held low with a shuffling step

Denied of every warmth.

Into my sight and in my world

A ray of sunshine

With golden hair and cherub lips

A vision so sublime.”

As he spoke Saeran again traced his fingertips down Yoosung’s face to his jaw and back again.

Yoosung swallowed, “What…who…wrote that?” his brain was buzzing, was Saeran really quoting poetry to him? He wondered how his legs were still able to hold him up, as they felt like noodles.

“I did.” He whispered into his ear again. “The first time I saw you, it was like the rainclouds above my head opened up and for the first time let the sun’s rays in. You glow. Your light is so radiant it puts the sun to shame. How anyone can be in your presence and not be blinded is beyond me. And now, here I am, touching that light.”
