the history of this fandom and its works is long and expansive and storied and i have so many recs i would never be able to fit them here (mostly because i havent read like all of them). needless to say, we've started making our own content in overdrive at the lack of new shit.

the entire pmd writer's union collection. im in this server. fics are top-notch, environment is top-notch, except when it isnt for me and me personally. if one wishes to join i may or may not be allowed to give you a link. anyways, the ones ive read are down below, and are all in the collection (duh!)

warped skies by team ion. linked is the arc 1 rewrite, the original is here. its beautiful. its a trainwreck of emotions, and i havent started on arc 3 yet (thats the good shit). the chapters are extremely long, the characters are extremely good, i shill it everywhere, i love this fic and i havent even gotten halfway through. its the other main influence on my writing, although more in ambition and inspiration than in actual style like exile. hell, i started DoP because of it. the post is out there somewhere. its just. it is. it is, it is. i think you can see a common theme with my ineptitude at describing fics, but. read it. read it. masterpiece

excited for Strangefake?

Real sorry, but I've got no interest in it!

Don't get me wrong, I am grateful to Narita for keeping old TM lore alive in Strange Fake as Fate continued to balloon in popularity, but when I saw the trailer I found I had zero hype whatsoever.

I think in general I'd rather just read Fate than watch it. Every time I see an anime adaptation nowadays I keep getting bothered by how much was lost and how significantly worse the storytelling ends up being all the time and knowing that this is how the vast majority of people are going to experience Fate.

I'm pretty tired of friends watching something like Apocrypha and then wondering why I'm into a series that mediocre and all I can say is "It's better when you read it I promise I just wanted to see how they adapted it" and all I'll ever hear is no one wants to read shit

Finally, after over a month of working on this, it’s done. Digital art is still hard.

I originally just wanted to draw Jack because I was bored, but then I thought it would be really interesting to draw Jack in the style of a watch advertisement. After studying many watch ads and suits, here we are...

Besides the drawing part, creating the text was hard too. Just pretend that Francesca wrote it, then someone else edited it to be more “proper.” (Marketing for a watch that is actually a serial killer is kind of surreal when I think about it)

When will Narita release his next strangfake light novel?

This is a question I’ve seen asked in a few different places. Dengeki Bunko announces the next 2 month releases on the 10th(or the 9th if they’re early) of every month. Since it’s almost the 10th, here is my speculation.

I predict Narita won’t release a new novel until October at the earliest. This is because Narita is a judge for the novel section in IIV’s annual? Creator Award. According to IIV’s website/twitter it is basically a contest to discover new content creators in four specific categories – novels, illustrations, comics, or movie/music. They stopped accepting applications on February 25th, but the results won’t be announced until “early summer.” Because of Narita’s poor health I don’t think he will be able to work much outside of writing for Dead Mount Death Play and reading/judging the novel entries. Summer in Japan starts in June, so that is the earliest the results will be announced. So if Narita finishes judging by then, I feel like he may be able to finish a novel within 2 months at the earliest or August. Dengeki Bunko announces a novel 2 months ahead of time, so the novel would be released in October.

Though it isn’t impossible for Narita to release a novel earlier if he manages to find time in between writing for his manga and judging. He did manage to submit a short story for the Kadokawa Light Novel Collab which came out last month…

Though while I would be really happy if Narita released a new novel soon, I don’t really want him to risk his health to do so. he’s been very vague about what kind of sickness he has, but it seems very precarious. I remember one tweet where he said he hasn’t ridden? a train since covid started because it was a huge risk to his health…
