Squart speaking, here we have four sunlight zone inhabitants that we've drawn. We hope you enjoy these funky lads.
Here are some fun facts about each one:
-Belugas have a large squishy forehead full of fat called a "melon" that they use to echo locate.
-Manta rays are one of the few animals that can recognize their reflections.
-Thresher sharks hunt by slapping and stunning fish with their long tail fins.
-A narwhal's tusk is actually a very long tooth that has sensory capabilities.

Sting the Ray
via
Born August 27, 1995
I'm a manta ray and my name is Sting
I'm quite unusual and this is the thing
Under the water I glide like a bird
Have you ever seen something so absurd?
Sting is a Teenie Beanie too!

Hi! Just found your blog and I love it. So you have any fun facts about rays? Preferably manta, but I'll take anything! Also can we just appreciate cow rays and their super weird little mouths that pop out like that?? One seemingly tried to eat my best friends hand at an aquarium once lol
I love Rays so much! They're actually the first animal that really got me interested in marine life when I pet some at an aquarium when I was 7.
There are two species of Manta Ray: Giant Manta Rays (Manta birostris) and Reef Manta Rays (Manta alfredi).
Manta rays are planktivores and eat specifically Zooplankton (which is comprised of small animals that are normally less than 2mm long).
Like Sharks and Stingrays, Manta Rays don't have bones, but instead have a skeletal system made entirely out of cartilage.
They can grow up to 7 meters (23 ft) wide (from fin tip to tip) and weigh up to 2 tons (4,000 lbs)!
Thanks for the ask! And yes, when you feed them at an aquarium it does sort of feel like they're trying to eat you when in fact they're just sucking the food out of your hand.
