the jury is still out on baseball for me. the A's come to town mid-may so I'll have a better idea then, though I looked at the scoreboard in the 8th and Oakland was winning in the second but it didn't..... matter.

after susan told me Brad was with the Yankees I looked into the dugout and saw him immediately. I said to her "see, I can't talk to Kyle about this." before the game when we were down in 110 with ray waiting for Barbara and Jimmy to get there from church, we were catching up. I said, "I've been an A's fan half my life, and the whole time Kyle was there with me and he just cut me off. so every good and bad memory I have of the A's is tied up with him." she's sympathetic but like... I don't think she knows how deep it goes. like, we talk about baseball, remember things together that happened in 2015. but we haven't spent hours processing the 2014 wild card game, or mccarthy's brain injury in 2012, or how gutting the 2018 wild card game was.

I've expressed these things to her, and on some level (because she is also a baseball fan) she understands. but she doesn't understand EXACTLY. Kyle did. he still does, but I don't have access to him. he's not dead; he removed himself from my life without a word.

we chatted the whole game, I told Mike he had to watch MOTA and then figure out who my fave is like I made him do for band of brothers ("who did Ron Livingston play.... Nixon, you liked him"). I think he'll get it right, having a benchmark. it was great to hang out with the crew and THAT felt like old times but.... again, I don't know. I don't know about baseball anymore.

I sincerely hope every artist gets to have the experience of falling in love with their art someday. even if you have to fight for it. i think we all deserve to look at the result of our creativity all giddy and go holy shit, I loved making this! I love the lines I put down and the colors I used and the indulgences I’ve taken. I love seeing things I liked and taking it for my own, pushing and molding and playing. I can’t wait to do it again

Anyone who tries telling you that both parties are the same and there is no point in voting? Has a fucking agenda, and it's a nasty one.

Do the Dems disappoint me? Yes, constantly. Do I have gripes with Biden? 100%.

Do I also recognize that he has GOTTEN SHIT DONE and that those things are like. NOT talked about by people my age because it feels better to be angry and constantly demanding better while being unwilling to put up with Average Joe who is ACTUALLY doing things that progressives have been asking for for AGES (putting caps on medication prices, working to cancel student and medical debt, investing in infrastructure and going after inflation, started working on protecting reproductive rights after Trump put in place the shitty judges who wrecked Roe, is trying to go after how weed is scheduled and pardoned all federal offenses, et-fucking-cetera).

Not only do I actually LIKE some of the shit Biden is doing? If Trump gets back in office? People will die. He and his have been OPEN about the fact that they want to go (somehow) even MORE fascist.

Fucking vote. Anyone telling you not to has your worst interests at heart. Be as pissed off as you want, but fucking VOTE. Because we have a chance of continuing to push a president like Biden towards the change we want to see. We have ZERO chance of that with Trump, or someone like him.
