Everyone knows that the running of the wolves is rigged. So Steve isn't surprised when he is chosen as this year's sacrifice after offending Lord Hammer at the ball. The lycans guard their secrets well, so in the end Steve won't even know which one of them will end his life during the chase.

What Steve doesn't know is that he has already caught the eye of one of the lords. And that a lycan protects his own until the day he dies.

The fact that they risk their lives on a regular basis isn’t worrying at all.

And oh, Tony watches like it’s happening in slow motion, the tensing of tendons, the roll of Steve’s Adam's apple, the way his suprasternal notch collapses and fills as his esophagus works to, what, keep words down? Saliva? A moan? Steve blinks and the glassiness clears. The blush all but vanishes. “Never mind,” he mutters.

And that…that just won’t do.

Tony leans forward ever so slightly over the foot of the bed, further into Steve’s space by a fraction of an inch. Anyone else wouldn’t have noticed, but Steve does. He stares at Tony from up near the headboard, a plaintive expression deep behind his eyes, a problem that Tony can’t help but want to fix.

“Would you like my help, Steve?”

Steve gets caught attempting to take his first-ever dick pics. It's a struggle, he explains, because it brings up a whole host of lingering body image issues. Tony, very gallantly and not at all because he is in love with Steve, offers to take the photos for him.

Cap-IM Rec Week - Day 7

Today’s list is short--it’s highlighting work you wouldn’t normally give a chance to, and that’s pretty rare for me. I give everything a shot because I’m a greedy whore when it comes to Stevetony. But here are two works that standout and that I thoroughly loved. I’ve really enjoyed @cap-ironman Rec Week--if you’re looking for more recs, check out @stevetonyweekly where I post all the Stevetony content I read each week.

Tiny Spy Assassin Steve by copperbadge

An AU in which Steve Rogers was born into the modern day and never received the Serum, but managed to make it into SHIELD as a handpicked protege of senior field agent Abraham Erskine. Along with Phil Coulson, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff, Peggy Carter, and eventually Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, Steve still tries to make a difference.

Particularly in the life of Tony Stark, who picked up what he thought was an art student in a bar, and ended up dating one of SHIELD's top agents...

I am EXTREMELY picky about pre-serum Steve fics and this one is just--fan-fucking-tastic.

Tony Stark resigned his commission in Starfleet five years ago, after a disastrous away mission, and he swore he'd never go back. He just wants to be left alone to build warp engines in peace. But the universe has more in store for him than that, as he discovers when Admiral Fury comes to him with an offer he could never have expected and cannot possibly refuse: first officer and chief engineer aboard the all-new USS Avenger, a starship of Tony's own design. What's more, the Avenger's captain is Steve Rogers, hero of the Earth-Romulan War. Believed dead for over a century, Steve is miraculously alive... and very, very attractive.

But nothing is ever easy for Tony. As he wrestles with his secret desire for his new captain and his not-so-dormant fears, another mission starts to go wrong, and Tony becomes aware that Steve has secrets of his own -- and the truth could change everything.

So this fic--podfic--deserves two spots on the list. First because I almost didn’t read it. Star Trek was the first media I can remember watching as a child (dear god, the nightmares from those fucking ear bugs) and it remains one of the nearest and dearest to my heart, so I’m extremely picky about crossovers--but I trusted Sine and it quickly became one of my favorite Trek fics, in or out of the fandom. I’m ALSO picky about podfic--I get very very little time for podfic and I’m super picky narrators on these kinds of things--audiobooks/podfics/podcasts--so I wasn’t sold on the idea, but I had a house to paint and a friend rec’ed it and omg, best decision ever. As emotional as the reading the fic made me, listening to the podfic was even more so. I love it to an unhealthy degree, honestly.

He thinks he’d be more of a gentleman about it under normal circumstances, but in this place, it’s like a handshake. He shudders and his back muscles move beneath Tony’s hand. Tony’s pants grow tighter. He smells like Barbasol. A well-respected man. Tony wants to disrespect him. (an AU where Steve never gave up the Nomad mantle, Tony has a coke habit, and they meet on the dance floor at Studio 54.)

A Post-Civil War, Pre-Secret Invasion AU where Steve is dead, Tony's a mess, and everything sucks. In which Tony deals poorly with Steve's death, falls off the wagon, sees ghosts, and misses a lot. Oh, and the Skrulls are about to invade.

Literally a classic, this fic is the SteveTony Odyssey.

“Captain America represents the values of our country. The recent allegations about his sexuality are specious and designed to smear an American icon. Captain Rogers regularly attends the Church of Saint Agnes and invites the citizens of New York to attend worship with him this Sunday, April 14th. God bless America.” Nobody was ever going to know. Steve would be a good husband, a good father, and he’d never give in to sin and touch another man. But Steve makes two mistakes, one after the other: he leaves two words out of the Pledge of Allegiance, and he doesn’t notice a camera flash among the strobe lights of a dark club, because he’s dancing with his clumsy hands on Tony’s hips.

I actually think this fic was created in a secret lab specifically for me to read and be irrevocably changed and made better by it; sharing so that you all can also partake in the revolutionary experience of reading this fic and being better for it too :)

To me, this is always The 2012 Avengers-era SteveTony fic. In my eyes, it eclipses and predominates the whole of its fandom. It was I think, maybe the first MCU SteveTony fic I read back when I first got into this fandom over 10 years ago and it's stuck with me ever since, and if that isn't enough of a recommendation then I simply do not know what is!

Amor Fati by citsiurtlanu

Tony Stark has always known what the words on his wrist are supposed to lead to. What he's never known is who the words are for. 616 soulmate AU.

Honestly and truly and genuinely don't have the words to articulate how heartwrenchingly gorgeous this fic is. It has pulled real life tears from me and imprinted itself into my memory. For all the ups and downs of 616 canon, we can thank every moment of it for having existed because citsuirtlanu was able to distill it down into this incredible, incredible story. <3

Five Days a Week by @festiveferret

The day after Pepper's funeral - after Rhodey has come and gone, after Natasha has come and gone, after Tony has forcibly sent Happy away - Tony looks out of the front window, Morgan snoozing in the crook of one arm, and sees a dark, heavily-tinted car in the driveway.

Wishing You'd Dreamt Me by Kiyaar Steve keeps enforcing his own silence, keeps parcelling himself up to give to Tony, for Tony's enjoyment at Steve’s expense. Keeps writing blank emotional checks.

We see a lot of Tony beating himself up during the beginning of Hickman's run, in canon and in fic. Here he's angry, and it fits so well with the situation. Ki's wonderful prose makes this emotional murder.

He doesn’t expect Steve to kiss him, roughly, as if trying to steal the breath from him.

Steve remembers, and he beats Tony bloody. And kisses him. And more. If everything is ruined, why not put all of the bottled up emotions on the table? This is not only angry fucking but also includes all the longing of being in love with your best friend for over a decade. This mixture makes it sweet which contrasts with all the bitter parts that of course are there too.

Tony is SIM, and Steve doesn't have the serum anymore. Steve is angry with himself and the feelings he had in the past, and even more with the ones he still has. Even worse is how obvious it seems to be to people around him including Superior Iron Man. All these musings happen while he desperatedly tries not to masturbate. And fails.

Steve has lost the serum; Tony has lost his humanity. Steve keeps chasing ghosts. Tony gives him something else instead.

This is deliciously horrible in the way Steve gets treated and the places his mind goes. Perfect for the cultivated Steve-whump enjoyer. And of course Silks' way of painting Steve's emotional state, twists the knife deeper.

All I Wanted Was Something Beautiful by Sineala Tony begins using Extremis to give each of his nightly conquests Steve's face. Then, of course, Steve finds out.

A fic about Old Man Steve and Super Iron Man, but they are essentially still Steve and Tony. They don't deny their feeling or why they still want each other. Steve's very much in charge here, and it makes for a very great fic.

Hi!! I saw you do fic recommendations for Avengers fanfic! The post that I saw is a year old, so if you don’t do that anymore, then I completely understand.

HOWEVER, if you do still do fic recs could you be so kind as to lend me a hand? I am looking for Stony fics, but I really despised the Civil War arc that went on in MCU (I grew up with the Avengers Assemble tv show so found family in the Marvel universe is pretty much my lifeblood).

Anyway, I’m looking for works that specifically recognize that Steve is more than kind of traumatized by the fact that he can never go home and hasn’t adjusted to modern living as well as everyone thought. (I think I’m just a sucker for Steve being in emotional pain). I read a few on AO3, but if there’s a wealth to be found, then I’m missing it by a mile. Are there any that you would recommend? (They don’t have to be Stony either).
