SteveTony Weekly - March 19
Tumblr media
 Tied and Twisted by 51stCenturyFox
“JARVIS, I’m tangled up in cables and need assistance. Get Dummy.” He surveyed the narrow path between the racks. “No, scratch that plan. Not enough space to maneuver.” He looked up at his trapped wrists. “Or enough fine-motor control. I need opposable thumbs.”
“Shall I call 911, sir?” JARVIS inquired calmly. “Will a hatchet be required? Jaws of life?”
What a Wicked Way to Treat the Boy that Loves You by jellybeanforest
After both forget their four-year anniversary, Tony Stark is insecure about the state of his relationship to Steve Rogers. Adding insult to injury, Steve has been acting strangely all week, so when he takes his boyfriend to dinner, Tony just knows he’s planning to break up with him in a public space to prevent him from causing a scene. Well, if the asshole thinks that (1) Tony is prone to post-breakup dramatics, (2) witnesses are a full-proof way to prevent said dramatics, and (3) Tony isn’t going to beat him to the punch, then maybe Steve never really knew Tony that well to begin with.
Reaching Inside An Armored Heart by MayBiTheWay
Realistically, asking Tony Stark out on a date was a big deal, Steve knew he needed to do some convincing, but not in a million years he’d think Tony’s answer would be this certain, this final. But he was not about to give up on this, on Tony.
It's just that there have been more pressing things to deal with at first, like return of the Skull or MODOK...
Gained in Translation by Annie D (scaramouche)
Steve returns to New York and meets Tony for the first time since they’d parted ways after the Chitauri incident. It’s a little awkward at first, but they gain a new rhythm, which is mainly based on their ability to surprise each other and prove those first impressions inaccurate.
Set between Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Be Empty of the Miserable Things by royal_chandler
Someone needs to tell Steve Rogers that loving the person you're with while you can is the best sort of selfish.
Sing That Body Electric by royal_chandler
Tony comes back from a business trip to find Steve with a beard.
Go the *Bleep* to Sleep by royal_chandler
Tony is waning, a middle-aged father who’s up against it and judging his younger self for ever taking sleep for granted.
Under the October Sun by royal_chandler
This is what Tony deserves for suffering an apparent lapse into insanity and giving credence to anything that freaking Scott Lang has to say.
Unplanned Courses by royal_chandler
When he and Tony began, Steve was told to be careful. Steve had never paid much mind though, too caught up in feeling alive. But eventually a spring that turns into summer cools into autumn and then freezes, and Steve’s never done well with the cold.
patchwork people by itsallAvengers
It was a pretty well-known fact that Tony Stark had control issues.
It was far less well-known why, though.
Muscles With a Side of Baby Blues by spAceArrow
If your date is nice to you but rude to the staff, then they are not a nice person.
and you said it was love by thangam
Steve wasn’t prepared for anything to really go off the rails at the gala. The Avengers were expected to go to parties like this every week, as a part of their contract with the American government. It was also not surprising that Tony would know some of the fancy rich people who came personally, considering he was a regular attendant of several other galas a week, and he ran in the same circle that most of the other attendees did. However, it was unusual for him to have a standoff with any one of the guests.
This gala was different though, because, for the first time, Tiberius Stone was on the guest list.
Shameless by vlbuehle
You just know there are like dozens of sex tapes of Tony circulating the internet. Steve finds one (while looking for something completely different) and is simultaneously mortified and unexpectedly turned on.
Tony catches him watching it, and is very amused (and not at all embarrassed, naturally). Sex follows.
Song and Dance by Arukou
Tony hasn't been feeling the schmoozing lately, especially not when Ty Stone blows in from the West Coast.
Your Heart on My Skin by AvengersNewB
Tattoo artist Steve refuses to give omega Tony a tattoo that might cause him a lifetime of embarrassment, despite Ty's insistence and ends up supporting Tony in putting his life back together.
Oh, and getting a chance to punch Ty? Always a bonus.
Arranged by NotEvenCloseToStraight
Royalty AU-- Howard arranges a match between Tony and Steve, but when Tony tries to run away with Tiberius instead, Steve goes after his betrothed and brings him home. Things are difficult between the couple at first, but an impulsive kiss leads to softer moments, and finally the arranged pair find happiness together.
catastrophic blues by meidui
It's 2011 and there’s a new vigilante amok in Brooklyn.
“He broke out of SHIELD custody,” Coulson says on a video call, calm and straight faced as he always is. “Good news is he didn’t take anything. Bad news is we can’t catch him.”
Tony tosses his welding goggles onto his workbench. “What I can’t catch is a fucking break.”
What Happens In Vegas by sabrecmc
“What the hell, Tony?” Rhodey demanded brusquely. Tony winced and drew the phone away from his ear. “You’ve got cops and Feds all over the hotel. I’m watching you perp walk out of the police station on repeat on CNN. They’re saying you tried to bribe Stern? Fox News has you selling weapons on the black market, and God that picture they’re using is the one from Bali in ’09. You look like shit. They wheeled Stern out and put him in an ambulance, by the way. Got some paparazzi swearing you decked the guy. Now they’ve got ‘copters following it like he’s OJ.”
“Yeah, don’t worry, Sourpatch, I’ve got it covered. Uh, though, I should probably tell you that, purely in the interests of national security and the greater good, I kind of had to fake marry that stripper-gram you sent. Thanks for that, by the way,” Tony added quickly.

stevetony but the genre is "friends have sex like this, right?"
Picture This by @stovetuna
“What if—” Steve doesn’t clear his throat this time. He swallows. And oh, Tony watches like it’s happening in slow motion, the tensing of tendons, the roll of Steve’s Adam's apple, the way his suprasternal notch collapses and fills as his esophagus works to, what, keep words down? Saliva? A moan? Steve blinks and the glassiness clears. The blush all but vanishes. “Never mind,” he mutters.
And that…that just won’t do.
Tony leans forward ever so slightly over the foot of the bed, further into Steve’s space by a fraction of an inch. Anyone else wouldn’t have noticed, but Steve does. He stares at Tony from up near the headboard, a plaintive expression deep behind his eyes, a problem that Tony can’t help but want to fix.
“Would you like my help, Steve?”
***
Steve gets caught attempting to take his first-ever dick pics. It's a struggle, he explains, because it brings up a whole host of lingering body image issues. Tony, very gallantly and not at all because he is in love with Steve, offers to take the photos for him.
dick drunk by @stovetuna
“I’m going to fuck you stupid,” Steve says, pulling away only a fraction of an inch to say it, a promise as deep and certain as the look in his eyes, “and you’re going to take it. Aren’t you, Tony.”
Tony wants a drink. Steve gives him something else.
Thrust Issues by @sineala
A battle gone wrong leads Tony to the unexpected and pleasant discovery that Steve is much more well-endowed than he could ever have imagined. But when Tony learns that Steve has never actually been able to sleep with anyone because of his size, Tony does what any good friend would do: he offers to relieve Steve of his virginity. Personally. Tony's determined, Tony's methodical, and Tony has a plan. He's going to get Steve laid. Tony just needs to make sure Steve never finds out that Tony's in love with him.
The Least Difficult of Men by @isozyme
It isn’t until Tony watches Steve lean into the punch that he thinks oh, this is going to be a problem.
━━━
Steve’s taking hits on purpose in the field, so Tony suggests a safer option. It's simple: Tony smacks Steve around, Steve gets the pain fix he’s looking for, everyone leaves happy. Things do not stay simple.
The one with repressed masochist Steve and sadist Tony and everyone getting off on pain a whole bunch.
Not a Breakup by @no-gorms
Tony knew it was a bad idea to start sleeping with Steve. It could mess up team dynamics, make things even more awkward between them in the future, or just plain get in the way of their trying to save the world. Tony foresaw all of the above but not the advent of feelings, and at the most inopportune moment.
Hard Knock Life by @kandisheek
Since the serum Steve hasn't been able to make himself come. His stamina is so unbelievably high that he can't find a partner who can keep up with him either. Lucky for him Tony is just stubborn enough to try.
any other way of loving by @brandnewfashion
In which Steve is bad at dating, Tony isn’t, and neither of them are as subtle as they think.

avengers twilight!steve, on regrets, memories and tony stark. written post-avengers twilight #002. stevetony.
Steve has a lot of regrets. Tony—not the real one, the best friend he lost on the day he lost everything, but the one he keeps in his head, his mind’s best attempt at a ghost of the person he misses most—says that’s inevitable, living as long as Steve has.
C’mon, Cap, he says, smiling that way his Tony used to: eyes as bright as the future he was always talking about, everything in him shining. Or maybe that’s just how he looked to Steve, young enough back then to not yet have blinked the stars from his eyes. You live long enough, you run the risk of anything outweighing the good memories. His smile fades, not enough to disappear, but to become something smaller, quieter. Tinged with something requiring care. Do me a favour, handsome. Try not to let that happen to you.
Steve doesn’t like disappointing Tony Stark, not even the one dreamed up inside his head, but he thinks it might be too late on that front.
If someone asked for a list of regrets, he’d have to give that wry, hoarse laugh that makes him sound as old as he feels, and say, Nobody has time to listen to all that. If someone had asked Tony, he’d have a breathtakingly clever quip or an outpouring of guilt, depending on his mood, and who had asked. If it had been Steve, maybe both. Matt would have thought about it, long and hard, and disappeared to a confession booth. Peter – Jessica – Logan – Carol – all of them, he thinks, would have their own laundry list of hauntings, justified or otherwise.
That’s the name of the game, he thinks. You have to take the wins for what they are, but it doesn’t make the losses any lighter to bear. Steve’s posture isn’t what it used to be, even with the Defenders’ replicated super soldier serum in his veins, but his shoulders were shaking under the crushing weight of all his mistakes long before his age caught up to his body.
Janet isn’t here anymore to ask, but he doesn’t know what she’d say. It’s not that he thinks she has no regrets—even outside of the hero business, that’s a tall order for anyone—so much as that’s not how he remembers her. When he thinks of Janet van Dyne, he thinks of her deft fingers readjusting the lapel of the suit she designed and Tony cajoled him into; he thinks of her tinkling laugh almost being swallowed up by Thor’s booming one, the two of them bent double at the disgruntled expression Clint was shooting their way one golden night back when the world knew what heroes were meant to be; and he thinks of her clever, smiling mouth, and the way nobody could ever resist smiling right back. Steve had been no exception.
He misses it so fiercely it burns. Jan’s smile and Thor’s relentless steadiness and even Peter’s terrible jokes as he chased the Human Torch around the city. Carol’s quick fists and Jessica’s quick thinking and Natasha’s quick draw, and the time the three of them had a punch-up contest with the Thing that ended in an exasperated Tony footing the bill to the city and Johnny cackling as Sue dressed down Ben for his part in it. Luke’s laughter as he slung his arm over Danny’s shoulder and Jessica Jones taking photos of the two of them and Logan and Bobbi in the corner, trading tales of Hawkeye’s Greatest Hits: Indecent Exposure edition.
And Tony—always, always Tony. The press of him against Steve’s side, a reassuring line of heat, like, hey, you’re not alone anymore. You’re not cold anymore. You have a team. You have me. His tired eyes and easy smile and razor-sharp wit, even half-dead on his feet. The late nights where Steve coaxed him out of his lab with a hot drink and the promise of conversation, the early mornings where Steve would wear a worried frown and say, you should really sleep more, Tony, and Tony would grin at him and say, and give up these early mornings where you bring me coffee and those big blue eyes of yours? Never, and Steve would sigh, but there would be something fond tugging at the corner of his lips, and Tony would look all pleased with himself, animated in a way no caffeine fix could ever cause, and Steve would want—
Steve swallows.
You’re drifting, baby. It’s Jan’s voice, that classic combination of fond amusement and concern that Clint used to perk up at being addressed with and Tony used to call the van Dyne special, all those years ago. God, Steve misses them all. He aches with wanting. You’re drifting. Bring it back home, Steve. Start with the most important bit. Let’s take it from the top.
There isn’t a team to report to anymore. It is not a new fact, a new thought, but every time, it hits him like a concrete block to the ribs.
There isn’t a team to report to anymore, but Steve Rogers breathes in, and thinks about it anyway. Take it from the top. The most important things.
How the tables turn, Tony says. He’s the only one Steve keeps. All his other ghosts flit in and out of his head, coming and going like the tides, but Tony is the forever haunting. The only one his mind holds onto on a permanent basis. D’you remember, oh, all the way back near the start -- one time you asked me if it got exhausting, thinking so much.
Steve remembers. Steve has never forgotten anything Tony Stark gave him, be it physical or a vow or just the smallest memory that wasn’t intended as a secret but became one in Steve’s desperate hands. The world has taken so much from him, from all of them, ever since H-day. He can’t talk about Tony, because what if the world takes that from him too?
How the tables turn, Tony says again, soft in that way most people didn’t believe Tony Stark could be. Steve knew, though. Steve’s always known. You look exhausted, Steve. Don’t let it be so big. Just -- right now, right at this moment. What’s the call, Cap?
That was what Tony had said that day, Steve remembers. The world was on fire, and about to become a whole lot colder, and they didn’t know that, didn’t know anything about what was to come, just that this was it, this was the moment, this was the do or die, and Tony had stood at his shoulder, the armour a familiar comfort against Steve’s side, and asked, What’s the call, Cap?
An itemised list of all of Steve Rogers’ regrets would take too long, and a ranked list of all time would be impossible to decide upon when Steve has such a long memory and even longer history.
So, in its stead, Steve thinks, he’ll give Tony the right now.
STEVE ROGERS’ TOP THREE REGRETS RIGHT AT THIS VERY MOMENT, 0142HRS, DEC 31 20XX, COUNTING DOWN:
3. Rosa. He’d deserved the slap. He’d deserved a lot of things, really. He’d had good years with Rosa; years of her no-nonsense love, of her careful hands, of the way she looked at him in the quiet of the night with all the warmth their little home could hold, like she still saw something worth believing in him. Maybe she did. He thinks she probably did. His wife was a lot of things, most of them good, but above all else, she was never a liar.
He’s sorry he blew up her life. He’s sorrier about that than the fact he blew up their life together, but that’s always the way it goes with him, isn’t it? There’s nothing he’s felt he had to keep more than the shield. It’s not that they matter less to him—God help him, but it’s not about the love. There’s never been a lack of love—but to his bones, to his core, he’s always been the guy who wants to stand up and help. If the fight needs to be had, he’s going to stand there, fists up, no matter who he is, no matter how old he is. No matter how super he is.
He knew that about himself a long time ago. Maybe if he’d stopped pretending that had changed, Rosa wouldn’t be stuck here now.
2. It’s a little one, in the scheme of things, but it also feels more important than almost anything else at this moment. He wishes he’d touched Matt, that last time they saw each other. Gone are the days where Steve would clasp his friends by the hand, something lost to time and loneliness and gradually brittled bones, but he wishes desperately that he’d clasped his hand to Matt’s shoulder one last time. Just a moment. Just enough for some phantom warmth on his palms, a tangible ghost of Daredevil, not just something dreamed up by his mind in the moments when losing almost everyone he’s ever trusted is insurmountable.
1. He doesn’t know where to begin with this one. H-day. The way it went down. Peter bleeding out in front of him. James Stark growing up without his parents, the best of them both twisted into something Steve can’t look at directly without feeling hopeless, helpless. Clint’s arrow snapped in half, a crater where the Thing should be. His last sight of Reed Richards, stretching further than he’d ever seen before as he reached out desperately towards his wife. Tony’s voice in his ear: what’s the call, Cap?
And that’s what it comes down to, isn’t it? His biggest regret. This one, he suspects wouldn’t change even if it was an all-time list. Tony Stark, the vibrant, blaring truth of him. Something Steve misses so desperately that when the world forced him to live without him, he made up a version of him to keep in his head forever.
It’s more similar to #2 than he thought. He has so many regrets, and so many of them are about Tony Stark—about that day, about missing people, about loving people and losing them because of the fight, whether they were lost in the fight or he left them behind to join it—but more than anything, he thinks he misses the feeling of Tony’s hand in his, pulling him in close, arm going around Steve’s shoulder to draw him into a hug.
I’m not half as good at anything as I am when I’m doing it next to you, Tony says, years ago, so far away from this moment that it might as well have been another world, and Steve, old and jaded and lonely and tired and missing the person he loves best so fiercely it aches in his lungs, thinks, You and me both, Tony. You and me both.
You and me. You and me. You and me.
-
(When the dossier falls open in front of him, with a blueprint of a tank and photos of him—photos of Tony, and even Tony in pieces makes Steve ache with something he thought had long been buried—spill out, let’s get it from the world’s smartest man, Tony Stark echoing in his ears—
Steve, for a moment, wants to throw up.
Then his jaw sets.
All right, Tony, he thinks. He doesn’t know if he’s addressing the ghost in his head, or the one in the tank, or some nebulous third thing, a Hail Mary thrown to the universe, some last passage of faith he thought he’d forgotten. What’s the call? You and me. That’s the call. I’m getting you out of there.
I’m bringing you home.)

Cap-IM Rec Week 2023 (Mon)
Absolute Faves Monday, July 17 for @cap-ironman Rec Week!
Very excited for Rec Week, hope you guys have fun too!
Today I'm reccing some of my favorite fics I've read or re-read this year :)
Remember to show some love for your hard-working creators!
Paint the Town Blue by ohjustpeachy @omg-just-peachy
Ten years since he’d seen or spoken to Tony Stark, ten years since they’d broken up to go away to school. And now this email. It could be his only chance to see Tony again.
with a kiss by svgurl410
When Steve is put under a curse, Tony tries his best to find his true love to save him.
tell me why by xWinterDreamsx @xwinterdreams-blog
Telling Steve how much he loves him doesn't go in any way Tony expects.
Never Worlds Apart by KandiSheek @kandisheek
It's been six years since he's seen Tony when he walks into his favorite diner and sees him sitting in their old booth, as if nothing ever happened. Steve can't believe the nerve of Tony to just show up out of the blue after the way he ended things. Turns out Tony has a reason for wanting to make amends. And Steve doesn't appreciate only finding out about it after Tony has already almost died.
Only Paintings in the Building by BladeoftheNebula @bladeofthenebula27, ironycap (art) Neverever @captainneverever (art)
Steve causes himself a whole heap of trouble when he starts to paint pictures of Tony.
Every Now and Then I Fall Apart by Sineala @sineala (616)
When Tony gets hit by a truth spell, the consequences aren't what anyone expected. They're sure not what Tony expected. He wishes he could stop telling his teammates about all the medical problems he tries to hide. As long as he doesn't open his mouth and reveal his secret feelings for Steve, or all his secret inadequacies as a human being, though, everything's going to be fine. And Tony's good at keeping secrets... or so he thinks. But maybe Steve knows him better than he knows himself. And just because Tony believes something, that doesn't make it the truth.
An Avengers Powerpoint Party by gogglor @gogglor
The Avengers threw a Powerpoint Party. These are their slides.
A Wish Your Heart Makes by Carsonian @carsonian
The absolute last thing Steve's expecting is Tony Stark, and so it's fairly in character for the man to be standing on the other side of the door. "Hi." Tony looks impatient, greeting barely out before he's walking past Steve and into the apartment.
i was put together wrong by suchmadnesss @suchmadnesss
Even in his anger, in his misjudgment, or even in the barest glimpses of inadvertent cruelty, everything Tony did was with passion. No matter what, he was always graceful, grandiose, effusive. Incandescent. Tony grows in front of the cameras and keeps a world of expectations balanced on the tightrope of his shoulders, but nothing ever seems to be enough. The hubris is a fallacy and the smirk Steve had always known to be a front isn’t whimsy, as he’d expected; instead, it’s bred. As he follows a couple of his steps, Steve feels as Tony does, which is to say: intensely. Every happiness is a marvel, every pain is acute. The higher they fly, the harder they fall. (In which the stones beckon Steve into a glimpse of Tony's past, and it proves to be his unraveling.)
you’ve got to close your eyes and see by Thahire @thahiree
Morgan manages to bring Tony back eleven years after Thanos’ defeat, long after everyone’s learned to live without him. Everyone’s overjoyed once they get over their shock, but Tony finds it hard to adjust, now that Pepper’s moved on and Morgan’s not a little kid anymore. Somehow, the one constant is Steve.
Ship to Shore by msermesth @msermesth
The Avengers beat Thanos. Everyone is safe. (If you don’t count those five days they thought Natasha was dead.) All that’s left is to return the stones, a feat that Tony is sure will end his new friends-with-benefits relationship with Steve.
nobody saves me, baby (the way you do) by Capstiddies, meidui
“You’re a firefighter.” “You’re—half naked.” - Steve fights fires and rescues kittens for a living these days because of course he does; of course that man doesn’t know how to properly retire. So now Steve has his firefighting career and Tony has a new complication in his long, winding relationship with Steve after parting ways without so much as a handshake.
Hope you guys enjoy the recs, and stay tuned for more! Please mind the tags before reading. Check out my tag for previous years’ rec lists :)

okay i'm a day late and catching up but i had to do the absolute favorites day for @cap-ironman rec week so!!
santa won't you bring me the one i really need by quidhitch
Although Tony typically makes it a point to avoid anything that could be reasonably classified as Pepper-approved self-betterment, he will be making an exception this year in the form of a list of New Year’s Resolutions. —Well, not so much a list, exactly, it’s more like one very loud, very obvious, very critical proposition. He’s gonna write it down, put it on his calendar, say it to Jesus, and do whatever the fuck normal people do to make these things happen. In fact, even though they’re only halfway through December, it’s already emblazoned in his mind in big, flashing neon letters: STOP SLEEPING WITH EX-HUSBAND.

The one where Steve keeps falling asleep on Tony.
and that's how it works by complicationstoo
Steve is on the other side of the door, a small smile on his face and a plastic bag in his hand that he lifts up into the air to show. “I brought reinforcements.”
Tony steps back to let him in and asks, “Who told you?”
“Your boyfriend told me,” Steve confesses, then amends, “Ex-boyfriend.”

Tony seems to have a propensity to hug Steve whenever he's sleep-deprived. Which would be all well and good, if Steve had any idea why Tony chose him of all people to be his personal teddybear.

Tony knew it was a bad idea to start sleeping with Steve. It could mess up team dynamics, make things even more awkward between them in the future, or just plain get in the way of their trying to save the world. Favourite sineala fanfic
🔫🔪🔫🔪🔫🔪cruel and unusual to try and make me pick just one so here's five six (in no particular order)
Mercy in You
When Tony comes back from a very bad D/s date, in pain and abandoned by his dom, Steve offers to help Tony out and give him all the aftercare he so desperately needs.
How to Date a Robot
How do you date a robot? Even the twenty-first century doesn't have the answers to every question. Steve will have to figure this one out for himself -- after he politely rebuffs Mr. Stark's interest, of course. Sure, Mr. Stark is handsome, but Steve would rather be with his bodyguard. So when Iron Man agrees to go on a date with Steve, Steve couldn't be happier. He loves Iron Man with all of his heart, and their relationship rapidly grows serious. But why does Mr. Stark hate Iron Man so much? And why in the world is Mr. Stark trying to tear Steve and Iron Man apart?
Not So Secret Anymore
When Steve's laptop isn't working right, Tony offers to fix it for him, and he quickly discovers the problem: computer viruses. He also discovers a fairly large amount of porn. Gay porn. But that can't be Steve's gay porn, surely. Captain America doesn't have hundreds of gigabytes of gay porn. A virus must have put it there. Clearly the best thing to do is to delete all of this gay porn that doesn't belong on Steve's computer and then they'll never have to have a conversation about it and Steve will definitely never find out about the massive crush Tony has on him. Good idea. This plan is perfect. Right up until Tony gets an email from Steve, asking if he could please have his collection of homosexual pornography back now.
Never Too Late for Love
Steve has always believed that a soulbond is a blessing -- a rare and beautiful miracle, joining the thoughts and feelings of two people forever, from the first time they touch. Steve knows he's not going to be one of the lucky ones. He knows Gail isn't his soulmate. But he loves her, even if they're not soulmates, and he's going to do right by her. After the war's over, he's going to marry her, and they're going to settle down. They'll buy a house. They'll have children. He'll see his family again. Maybe Bucky will live next door. It's going to be a good life. He doesn't need a soulbond. He'll be fine without one. Then Steve wakes up sixty years in the future to find that his wonderful life has moved on without him. His family is long dead. His fiancée married his best friend. And the only purpose he has left is leading the Ultimates, a misbegotten team of superheroes with flaws too numerous to count. Steve hates everything about the future -- but most of all he detests Tony, flashy and flirtatious, who embodies everything Steve hates about a world he never wanted to live in. And, oh, yeah, Steve has a soulmate after all: Tony fucking Stark.
Thrust Issues (specifically chapter 8) ((more specifically the last half of chapter 8))
Man is a Wolf to Man (that's right it's capwolf time!!)
When Antonius is falsely accused and convicted of murdering an ambassador, he is condemned to death by the wild beasts of the arena. But the wolf sent to kill him is something rather more than he ever expected.

Cap-IM Rec Week - Day 7
Today’s list is short--it’s highlighting work you wouldn’t normally give a chance to, and that’s pretty rare for me. I give everything a shot because I’m a greedy whore when it comes to Stevetony. But here are two works that standout and that I thoroughly loved. I’ve really enjoyed @cap-ironman Rec Week--if you’re looking for more recs, check out @stevetonyweekly where I post all the Stevetony content I read each week.
Tiny Spy Assassin Steve by copperbadge
An AU in which Steve Rogers was born into the modern day and never received the Serum, but managed to make it into SHIELD as a handpicked protege of senior field agent Abraham Erskine. Along with Phil Coulson, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff, Peggy Carter, and eventually Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, Steve still tries to make a difference.
Particularly in the life of Tony Stark, who picked up what he thought was an art student in a bar, and ended up dating one of SHIELD's top agents...
I am EXTREMELY picky about pre-serum Steve fics and this one is just--fan-fucking-tastic.
[Podfic] Straight on till Morning by Sineala by M_Samro
Tony Stark resigned his commission in Starfleet five years ago, after a disastrous away mission, and he swore he'd never go back. He just wants to be left alone to build warp engines in peace. But the universe has more in store for him than that, as he discovers when Admiral Fury comes to him with an offer he could never have expected and cannot possibly refuse: first officer and chief engineer aboard the all-new USS Avenger, a starship of Tony's own design. What's more, the Avenger's captain is Steve Rogers, hero of the Earth-Romulan War. Believed dead for over a century, Steve is miraculously alive... and very, very attractive.
But nothing is ever easy for Tony. As he wrestles with his secret desire for his new captain and his not-so-dormant fears, another mission starts to go wrong, and Tony becomes aware that Steve has secrets of his own -- and the truth could change everything.
So this fic--podfic--deserves two spots on the list. First because I almost didn’t read it. Star Trek was the first media I can remember watching as a child (dear god, the nightmares from those fucking ear bugs) and it remains one of the nearest and dearest to my heart, so I’m extremely picky about crossovers--but I trusted Sine and it quickly became one of my favorite Trek fics, in or out of the fandom. I’m ALSO picky about podfic--I get very very little time for podfic and I’m super picky narrators on these kinds of things--audiobooks/podfics/podcasts--so I wasn’t sold on the idea, but I had a house to paint and a friend rec’ed it and omg, best decision ever. As emotional as the reading the fic made me, listening to the podfic was even more so. I love it to an unhealthy degree, honestly.

[Hidden Identity]
Come a little closer, then you'll see
Things aren't always what they seem to be.
Tumblr media
While Iron Man is a wonderful hero beloved by the public, Tony Stark has a notorious reputation as the playboy billionaire. Unapproved by Fury, deemed unfit to be an Avenger, Tony tells the press that the man inside the Iron Man armor (clouded in secrecy) is in fact his "bodyguard". Just like in the old comics, Tony worries that if his identity as the hero would be revealed, he'd lose everything; His team (no doubt angry at him for having lied to them all this time), that no one would accept him as a hero, his company Stark International would go under or be overtaken, losing his chance to make a change globally, as well as any chance to do good as a hero, in his armor.
Then we have Steve, buying the playboy facade and public image at face value, thereby not having much of a favorable opinion of Stark. On the other hand, he is head over heels for his witty, brave and selfless partner, Iron Man. (This only adding to Tony's fears and anxieties of his identity being revealed, surely he would be hated, by Steve.. and lose his partner).🥺
(However his actions speaking louder than words, his bonds with the team, and with Steve, may be stronger and count for much more than he thinks..)
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Hi!! I saw you do fic recommendations for Avengers fanfic! The post that I saw is a year old, so if you don’t do that anymore, then I completely understand.
HOWEVER, if you do still do fic recs could you be so kind as to lend me a hand? I am looking for Stony fics, but I really despised the Civil War arc that went on in MCU (I grew up with the Avengers Assemble tv show so found family in the Marvel universe is pretty much my lifeblood).
Anyway, I’m looking for works that specifically recognize that Steve is more than kind of traumatized by the fact that he can never go home and hasn’t adjusted to modern living as well as everyone thought. (I think I’m just a sucker for Steve being in emotional pain). I read a few on AO3, but if there’s a wealth to be found, then I’m missing it by a mile. Are there any that you would recommend? (They don’t have to be Stony either).
Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful day!!
hey there!!! thank you for your patience with this request, i was on vacation when you sent it. :) i don't make rec lists as often as i'd like, but i'm definitely still into them, so i'm happy you asked! it sounds like you're looking for fics about steve adjusting to the future, and i believe i've found some good ones for you, with various levels of angst. spoiler: they're all stony. ❤️

SteveTony Weekly - July 30
Tumblr media
Hi friends!! So someone (hi @till-i-get-back-punk )  commented on last week’s bonus rec list, surprised that I’m @areiton so--as a reminder, your friendly neighborhood rec curator is indeed arei! I started the STW because I love reading and was running out of fic recs and occasionally that’s still true---so always feel free to send me new things to read via asks. I don’t do requested rec lists often, mostly because I’m crazy busy, but I’ve been thinking of a series of mini-lists for the holiday season--more on that later.
Now on to this week’s list--as always, remember to share the love--comment/kudo if you’re enjoying the fic!
~*~
poor flesh and fluttering hearts by deathsweetqueen
Steve blushes so adorably when Tony walks into the kitchen, staring down at the plate of pancakes that he made for himself and the rest of the team.
His brown wings, the colour of burnt umber, shake out before folding around his broad form.
For a moment, Tony is confused and then, he looks down at himself, noticing the way he strode into the kitchen in just a pair of silk boxers, arc reactor and shiny red scars on vivid display.
He shifts uneasily on his feet and immediately hates himself for the action.
Why should he feel so awkward, so self-conscious just because perfect fucking Captain America finds him an absolute mess of a person?
The Way of Things by Sineala
The Avengers have been around a long time, and they have a lot of traditions. But when Steve finds out that the team has a tradition he's never been informed of, he learns that there's something Tony hasn't been telling him, either.
Fixer-Upper by imafriendlydalek
Tony leads the way up the steps to the house, and as the door swings open with a long creaking sound - note to self: oil door hinges - Steve’s eyes widen. He steps inside, turns slowly on his own axis as he looks around.
“Tony, this place, it’s…” There’s a sense of wonder in his voice. Tony smiles inwardly. It is just the kind of thing Steve would like. Steve, who has a keen appreciation for fine aesthetics, who has a healthy - okay, sometimes more than healthy - sense of history and an acute desire to preserve things he deems worthy.
“This place is a dump.”
Well, so much for that, then. Tony shifts his weight to one leg as he takes an appraising look. “It’s a bit of a fixer-upper, yeah, I’ll give you that, but it’s not past saving. Just needs some TLC.”
Steve uncrosses his arms and shoves his hands in the pockets of his pants. “Well listen, you ever want an extra set of hands with some of the work, just give me a call.”
Big Boy Toys by extantecstasy
Steve finally gets fed up with Tony’s juvenile pranks. When Tony models for a sex toy, Steve seizes the opportunity. Or, it seizes him.
Glitch by iam93percentstardust
And I'm not even sorry, nights are so starry
Blood moonlit
It must be counterfeit
I think there's been a glitch, oh, yeah
~
“Ms. Potts, my name is Steve Rogers, and I’m Justin Hammer’s roommate," Steve says.
“Oh, what does that asshole want now?” she asks.
“I don’t think he wants anything—except to make a quick buck and ruin Mr. Stark’s reputation.”
Trust Fall by Sineala
Tony needs someone who cares about him, bandages, a jacket, ibuprofen, dinner, a lasting romantic relationship, a nice time in bed, and assistance committing federal crimes. He gets them. In that order.
Tony Stark vs. the Heteronormative Agenda by sweatervest
Nat leans her hip against the table and folds her arms. “Short of making out in public, I don’t think anyone will make the jump to ‘they’re dating.’”
Steve glances at her and then over at Tony.
Nat follows Steve’s gaze. “You did make out in public.”
“Steve never got his Time’s Square victory kiss,” Tony protests.
--
Or, five times the general public was determined to believe Steve Rogers and Tony Stark were just close friends, and the time Tony made sure they knew otherwise.
through thick and thin by earliebirb
“We should break up,” Tony declares, gazing out of the floor-to-ceiling window of their bedroom. The colorful twinkle of lights of the New York City nightlife is truly a mesmerizing view.
“Why?”
“I don’t love you anymore.”
Steve scoffs, utterly unfazed.
What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? by ceealaina
Steve’s going to ask Tony out for New Year’s Eve. Really. He absolutely means it this time. He just... has to work up the nerve.
The Emperor's New Clothes by Captain_Panda
No, Tony wasn't "flirting with him."
Tony was trying to drive him crazy. Steve Rogers would not stand for it.
Honey, I Can See The Stars by twentysomething
"The most he'd ever cared about anything remotely related was his uniform, which, beyond the stylistic, was pretty necessary. But now his suit comes from a lab far more advanced than the basement of a Brooklyn antique shop, and the only decision he really gets to make is if his pants are too tight. (They were, but he doesn't really think they changed them. He doesn't know why, but he thinks that might have been on purpose.) That being said, he doesn't know what he's done to deserve the double take Tony gives him as he walks in the room."
The Most Amazing Things (Some Terrible Lie) by copperbadge
Tony's decision not to reveal his identity as Iron Man to the world was shrewd and calculated. Too bad it's about to backfire on him like a Jericho missile.
It Started with Two Men by Missy_dee811 for tarialdarion
Steve remembers and confronts Tony but there's more to Tony's confession than Steve had ever thought possible:
“Tony, I –”
Tony cut him off with the wave of a hand. “Why can’t you understand that everything I do, I do for you?” He was sobbing now into his hands, covered in blood. It was jarring to see Tony like this. Steve didn’t know how to respond. This didn’t go as planned, he thought to himself. He hadn’t expected a heartfelt confession. In truth, he had expected more lies, more deceit. He felt like the world’s greatest asshole for using his best friend as a punching bag.
Make It Clap by shetlandowl
Steve is a sophomore at BU and Tony is finishing his graduate degree at MIT when they begin their relationship. This story is told as 31 snapshots from their first two years together. The story is told in sequential order, though not always in sequence (i.e., some chapters capture events only hours apart, while some chapters are from events weeks or months apart).
Ice Ice Baby (The Hockey Fic) by youcancallmearrow
Tony Stark is a star center, sidelined by a slip in sobriety. Steve Rogers is a goalie, suspended for a punch thrown off the ice.
When the two meet, they're trying to get their lives back on track, both off and on the ice. It turns out, the saying is true: A burden shared is a burdened halved. At least until Howard Stark gets involved.
(A get together fic full of fluff, supportive friends, dad Rhodey, and hockey! But if you know nothing about hockey, you'll be fine, because neither does the author.)
Tonight we're gonna make it all come true by gottalovev
Steve Rogers is one of the best players in college football and is ready to prove it. The road towards becoming a professional football player? Is totally crazy. Falling in love with Tony Stark, the young quarterback from Stanford, may be even more life changing.
i don't have a choice (but i'd still choose you). by frostfall
There’s a name inked onto his chest, a name written in an all-too familiar scrawl. And it’s— It’s—
Steve doesn’t realize his body is quaking until he’s tracing the tattoo with a shaky finger.
Because of course that is the name etched into the skin. Like a brand, a reminder for everything he has done. An appropriate retribution.
Anthony Edward Stark.
(When Thanos snaps half of the universe away, he unknowingly leaves the other half with soulmarks.)

professor!tony fic recs ♡
enchanted by @areiton
You watch his smile shift, something softer, sweet and private, and he mouths, hi.
You blush, utterly enchanted.
maybe they are by @areiton
“Maybe they fucked and Stark broke his heart,” Teddy says, watching Stark standing next to a table full of grad students, talking animatedly, waving his coffee as Rogers dodged by, giving him a dirty look.
Hot Professors and Underwear Models by @meshkol
Darcy Lewis is a simple gal, and by simple gal, she means unapologetically thirsty.
Nothing wrong with some eye-candy mixed in with classes, anyway.
non functional requirements by @lazywriter7
Gwen Stacy isn't having the greatest day, and that's before her System Designs Engineering professor starts explaining the material through the lens of his strained-sounding relationship. With his boyfriend in the audience.
Citation Needed by @elwenyere @festiveferret
Historian Tony Stark has one year to get his book about WWII weapons technology under contract before he goes up for Full Professor at Stanley College. There's only one chapter left to finish, which is supposed to explain Peggy Carter's involvement with something called "Project Rebirth," but there are two problems: his trail of evidence goes cold every time he encounters references to an enigmatic soldier named Steven Rogers, and his stress levels shoot through the roof every time he runs into the endlessly frustrating new hire in Fine Arts, Dr. Grant.
The Ring of Fire by @serinah80
Steve is 19 and has only had one girlfriend. He doesn’t like men, never has, so why the hell does Professor Stark make him feel this way?
A story with a ridiculous amount of anger, internalized homophobia, sexual exploration, self-discovery and pining. In short: it's about how student Steve tries, fails and then tries again to understand what is going on with him while dealing with his crush on a professor.

Tony in Lingerie: A Rec List
@frankthesnek asked for a few recs of Tony wearing lingerie, and I've been wanting to do a new stevetony rec list for ages so here's a list of some of my faves (and some that I've written):
Written by Me *note: if a stevetony fic by me is rated E, odds are it has Tony in lingerie, but these are the ones that are more than just a throwaway line*
At Your Feet: Tony's been gone for two months dealing with SI emergencies. But he's finally coming home and Steve, for one, can't wait to see him again.
I Found a Love For Me: Steve comes home to find Tony waiting for him with a surprise.
Your Darkened Eyes: When Steve goes back to Peggy, he doesn't go back in time the way Scott thought he had. Instead, he steps into another universe. But the problem is, this universe has a Steve Rogers too and he isn't happy that Steve stole his life away from him. *note: contains underage content*
Models and Other Odd Things You'll Find on Craigslist: Artist Steve needs a model for his Erotica in Art class. Tony volunteers. *note: contains no sexual content*
It's Gotten Too Darn Hot: Tony and Steve have some fun with ice while the A/C isn't working.
I Know Places: Mob boss Steve kidnaps Tony after Howard makes a mistake that gets Steve's people killed. *note: contains underage content*
Treacherous: 5 times Steve and Tony fucked at someone else's wedding and one time they fucked at one of theirs
Bambi: The most feared mob boss in New York wants to prove a point to his people by fucking the prettiest little whore in the entire city right in front of them.
Written by Others:
For Your Eyes Only by SarahHBE: Every soldier looks forward to mail call. But Alpha Steve Rogers gets a big surprise with the letter his Omega, Tony Stark, has sent him.
Babydoll, Cover Me by @aurumacadicus: Steve and Tony, two of the most popular omega lingerie models, are pretending to date to keep alphas off of Tony's back. It's depressingly necessary. *note: contains no sexual content* **second note: go through author's fics on tumblr because there's tons of tony in lingerie content, all very delicious**
inspired by @areiton: Steve is a silver fox and Tony is a thirsty twink and we all know how this is gonna end.
How Easy You Are To Need by Robin_tCJ: The only thing Tony can move is his head, which he does. He bends it just enough to look back over his shoulder, past where his legs are tied spread open, ankles bound to his thighs. Steve is still sitting in his chair behind Tony, seemingly uninterested in the sight before him.
Gonna dress you up in my love by S_horne: Written for National Nylon Stockings Day
Just Like This by BlossomsintheMist: Steve and Tony share Valentine's Day together, and Steve wants to make a point.
Seeing Stars by BlossomsintheMist: Tony gives Steve a ride (and a few more things). *note: check out author's fics on ao3 for the most amazing porn in the fandom*
Must Be True by @avengersnewb: When the stakes are too high, Tiberius Stone offers his omega, Tony, as a little side incentive to close important business deals. Tonight’s business is an arms deal with the Avengers, and the alpha they’re meeting is Captain America.

Cap-IM Rec Week 2023 (Tues)
It's About the Yearning Tuesday, July 18 for @cap-ironman Rec Week!
Today I'm reccing fics based on my favorite trope of all time - pining 💜
Remember to show some love for your hard-working creators!
take my heart clean apart by mistymountainking @stovetuna
Tony comes home exhausted after an SI event. Steve acts as welcoming committee. It's an old, careworn routine they've perfected over the years, but tonight ends up going in a very different direction.
Take A Number by 51stCenturyFox
So what if Tony Stark is sleeping with everybody else (except him)? Why would Steve care? He doesn’t even like Tony, and certainly not like that...
for you I’ll pretend (to fake it) by AvengersNewB @avengersnewb, Lacerta
Steve doesn't think twice when he agrees to help Tony out, even if it kills him inside to attend a gala as Tony's fake date. Tony doesn't know if he can keep up the pretense on this evening out as friends but it's as close as he can get to an actual date, so he takes it. Things don't go as planned though, with all the pining, the pent-up feelings, and bumping into Tony's horrible, obnoxious ex, Ty Stone.
Can't Write One Song (That's Not About You) by FestiveFerret @festiveferret
Ten years ago, Tony fell in love with his roommate: funny, handsome, kind, smart Steve Rogers, who also happened to be the lead singer and guitarist of a band, The Howlies. Then The Howlies made it big, Steve moved away, and Tony vowed to avoid any mention of the band, their songs, and the man he missed his chance with. But chance has a way of giving you exactly what you need, even if you don't know it yet...
you'll be mine and i'll be yours by complicationstoo @ifmywishescametrue
Five words ruin Tony's life. “He doesn't love me back,” Steve says, and Tony feels his world crumble to pieces at his feet. Steve loves someone, and Tony knows it isn't him.
in my head by brucewaynery
Tony tells Steve about solipsism, the theory that everything is merely a figment of your own imagination, and Steve lets something slip.
ignorance is (not) bliss by earliebirb @earliebirb
One of Tony’s hands shoots up to grab his wrist, gripping it tightly. Slowly, Tony opens his eyes. Steve’s blood freezes in his veins. His heart sinks with dread.  “Tony?” Steve hopes that this is just some weird bout of sleepwalking, but Tony doesn’t sleepwalk, and from the thoughtful way Tony regards him, Steve knows that Tony is somehow very much awake, which means— Tony swallows, his eyes wide and alert in a way Steve didn’t think they were capable of being twenty minutes ago.  “Steve,” he says, the single word carrying too much weight.
now I worship a celestial sun by haemodye (616)
A mostly-comedic farce involving: 1 obedience spell, 2 pining Avengers, 1 long-suffering Sorcerer Supreme, and 1 single, extravagant Saint Patrick's Day float.
Not a Perfect Man by Neverever @captainneverever (616)
Steve and Tony are back on track as friends and spending a lot of time together as they form a new Avengers team. But Steve is again in a rocky relationship with Sharon and Tony is dating a new woman. Steve struggles as his long-dormant crush on Tony comes back with a vengeance because he's supposed to be a good man and he doesn't want to lose Tony as a friend. What is he supposed to do as a friend when Tony's new girlfriend turns out to be not good for Tony?
The Culling of the Stars by dirigibleplumbing @dirigibleplumbing (616)
Tony dies saving Steve's life on the courthouse steps. Now Steve is left with the fallout of their Civil War, expected to take charge and preserve Tony's legacy. He doesn't know how he can do it alone—not when he can't stop thinking about Tony, or keep track of the days, or even feel.
What Was It You Wanted by sheron @sheronm
"C'mon, a kiss from Captain America is not so terrible." According to the alien custom, Steve had to kiss each teammate on the mouth, and some kisses come with more aftermath than others.
Down in Lonesome Town by resurrectedhippo
“Why do I always find my way back to you?” Maybe Tony didn’t necessarily return to Steve, but fate is a funny little thing, and after living a life of loss, Steve wants something that’s his to keep. After the universe is restored, Steve is lost without any direction. Retiring from the Avengers, he moves across the country and ends up building a house by a misty blue lake. Across the bridge is Tony Stark’s new workshop.
Hope you guys enjoy the recs, and stay tuned for more! Please mind the tags before reading. Check out my tag for previous years’ rec lists :)

soft stevetony rec list
today is soft wednesday for @cap-ironman rec week! my favorite genre and one for which i have many recs to share 💖
anything? by halfasgoodatanything
steve misses tony when he's on a business trip, so he drinks a flask of asgardian liquor, and plays with dum-e. tony comes home early, and confessions and cuddling and cuteness ensues.
i who only love you by talesofsuspense
Steve’s sick on their anniversary, but Tony is adaptable.
quiet worship by sidium
He should let him sleep, really, he knows this. He should go back to sleep, or carefully get up, maybe make a cup of coffee, or a million other things that would allow Steve to stay in the position he’s in, peaceful and dreaming.
bring some peace by blossomsinthemist
Tony is tired, Steve is affectionate, and they spend some time together. Pretty much pure relaxing fluff.
santa won't you bring me the one i really need by quidhitch (i cannot make a rec list without this fic okay? okay)
In fact, even though they’re only halfway through December, it’s already emblazoned in his mind in big, flashing neon letters: STOP SLEEPING WITH EX-HUSBAND.
someone reaching back for me by festiveferret
Steve is sickly, unemployed, broke, and homeless.
All he has left is a business card with a rather hard to get phone number on it.
lovesick by royal_chandler
The depth of the flu aisle in the pharmacy is substantial, overwhelmingly so, and Steve is half-convinced he needs to return to the front and trade his basket for a full-on cart.
the warmth of your cheek against mine by blossomsinthemist
Steve's hurt. Tony looks after him. Established relationship.
teddy bear status by tazziebubbles
In which Tony almost dies (yet again) and a certain supersoldier becomes awfully touchy. Not that he minds.
how to win affection without really trying by annie d
Tony almost dies saving Steve’s life, but that’s just part of being an Avenger. It’s no reason for Steve to get all weird and intense around him afterward.
for this, i am thankful by corsets_and_cardigans
Newly divorced Dad Tony spends Thanksgiving with his attractive new neighbor.
uncharted waters by ironswordstarshield
TL;DR: Tony helps Steve shave off his grief beard (and things are all /wriggly arms).
even iron bends by muscalluna
Steve's been in Washington over a week.
hold me close by naxa1818
Steve gets de-serumed and is insecure about it. Tony makes him feel better.
indoor thoughts by picturecat
Tony is on some very effective painkillers, so he can't really be blamed for freeing some of the thoughts he usually keeps locked away. Maybe they're not so bad, anyway.
i'll turn hours into gardens by nanasekei
Every week, a plant arrives.
you make me wanna slow down by me!
one self rec for the road: Steve starts falling asleep in Tony's workshop.

CAP-IM Rec Week: Absolute Faves Monday
a quick & dirty reclist of all some of my absolute best beloved stevetony fic faves <3
You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) by @kiyaar
“Why don’t you take that off,” Tony whispers back, and he tugs at the guy’s mask. He tries an arm around his waist, firm, solid, hot. Tony is hard and it’s obvious. He thinks he’d be more of a gentleman about it under normal circumstances, but in this place, it’s like a handshake. He shudders and his back muscles move beneath Tony’s hand. Tony’s pants grow tighter. He smells like Barbasol. A well-respected man. Tony wants to disrespect him. (an AU where Steve never gave up the Nomad mantle, Tony has a coke habit, and they meet on the dance floor at Studio 54.)
Podfic available from @whenasinsilks!
Please everyone go read this fic immediately and then report back so we can all go disco dancing together while screaming abt the SteveTony identity porn mutual pining drug-fueled blowjob of all time <3
Sins of Omission by @kiyaar
A Post-Civil War, Pre-Secret Invasion AU where Steve is dead, Tony's a mess, and everything sucks. In which Tony deals poorly with Steve's death, falls off the wagon, sees ghosts, and misses a lot. Oh, and the Skrulls are about to invade.
Literally a classic, this fic is the SteveTony Odyssey.
Under God by @isozyme
“Captain America represents the values of our country. The recent allegations about his sexuality are specious and designed to smear an American icon. Captain Rogers regularly attends the Church of Saint Agnes and invites the citizens of New York to attend worship with him this Sunday, April 14th. God bless America.” Nobody was ever going to know. Steve would be a good husband, a good father, and he’d never give in to sin and touch another man. But Steve makes two mistakes, one after the other: he leaves two words out of the Pledge of Allegiance, and he doesn’t notice a camera flash among the strobe lights of a dark club, because he’s dancing with his clumsy hands on Tony’s hips.
Podfic available from Cathalinaheart!
No words, only ugly beautiful emotions about being gay in the Zeroes, internalized homophobia, falling in love, and perhaps even preempting the Iraq War.
the face and the mask are mirrors, baby (the genderqueer remix) by @imaginaryelle
When Tony’s young, he thinks maybe he’s built wrong. He thinks: Maybe one day, if he gets good enough, he’ll be able to redesign Tony Stark. Cast himself in a new mold. One day, he’ll be better.
I actually think this fic was created in a secret lab specifically for me to read and be irrevocably changed and made better by it; sharing so that you all can also partake in the revolutionary experience of reading this fic and being better for it too :)

To me, this is always The 2012 Avengers-era SteveTony fic. In my eyes, it eclipses and predominates the whole of its fandom. It was I think, maybe the first MCU SteveTony fic I read back when I first got into this fandom over 10 years ago and it's stuck with me ever since, and if that isn't enough of a recommendation then I simply do not know what is!

Tony Stark has always known what the words on his wrist are supposed to lead to. What he's never known is who the words are for. 616 soulmate AU.
Honestly and truly and genuinely don't have the words to articulate how heartwrenchingly gorgeous this fic is. It has pulled real life tears from me and imprinted itself into my memory. For all the ups and downs of 616 canon, we can thank every moment of it for having existed because citsuirtlanu was able to distill it down into this incredible, incredible story. <3
Five Days a Week by @festiveferret
The day after Pepper's funeral - after Rhodey has come and gone, after Natasha has come and gone, after Tony has forcibly sent Happy away - Tony looks out of the front window, Morgan snoozing in the crook of one arm, and sees a dark, heavily-tinted car in the driveway.
The perfect, the perfect Endgame fix-it. There's a certain kind of magic in this story that I don't think I've found in any other stevetony fic to date. This fic is heartbreak and grief and guilt and friendship and romance all rolled into one indescribably lovely story.
