That is such a cool idea! We got an attempt at a TSS and SSO crossover during Time and Elemental’s arc, but that didn’t go anywhere. I think it would be so cool if Sabre entered SSO’s storyline via that unexplored time traveling aspect!

Like what if Sabre had a chance to travel back in time to undo some major mistakes and erase some tragedies from existence? He would get a chance to meet a younger Rainbow Steve and the younger version of his friends. I’m basically imagining this like a Terminator plot, but for the Steve Saga. I’m a huge fan of time travel stories, even though I cry every single time I have written a fanfic that involves time travel.

Anyways, if you mean an AU where Sabre is in SSO with no time travel, I wonder what would happen if early “I study Steves for the lols” Sabre was in SSO. Rainbow and Blue already have to deal with Nightmare destroying Steves. Imagine how they’d react if they see just a guy wandering through their ruined civilization with a camera and saying, “woah, what happened here? I’m gonna touch everything I see for science!”

Oh man, imagine what would happen if Sabre found the artifacts before Rainbow and Blue did. Imagine what would happen if Sabre unleashed Hypno before Rainbow and Blue did, because of course he would.

“What’s your grand plan here, Doc?” The golden-haired, bearded hulk of a man, America’s golden boy now a rogue in the shadows is pacing before you. “Are you even a doctor?”

His tone is biting, angry, and you don’t hold it against him.

He did fall right into your trap.

“You’re a smart boy, you can guess.”

“I want to hear you say it.”

“I think it will bruise your ego more if I spell it out for you.”

“You should have thought of my rage before you put yourself in this situation, Doc,” he all but growls, still prowling back and forth across the living room floor. “What’s your exit strategy here?”

“You’re getting more volatile and heated, that’s good. That’s what I need.”

“Do you think this is a fucking game? You’re on dangerous ground.”

Your lips curl up slightly, but you try not to smirk. “I dangled myself in front of you. Good Captain America couldn’t resist trying to liberate the poor scientist who got wrongfully entangled with the remnants of HYDRA. You never even stopped to consider that I was dangling myself out in the wind to get you here like this, and you’ve read enough about HYDRA, you know what I gave you.”

“But why?” he barks.

“No one can beat you for strength. You’re driven, resourceful, able to evade an attack. Your weakness is caring,” you pause because he stops his pacing, he looks ready to spring, but doesn’t yet. His eyes haven’t left you for even a moment since he realized it’s you he needed to worry about, not save. “I need your DNA, blood samples, bodily fluid, and I can’t trap you with anything, but I banked on the one physical vulnerability even a super soldier isn’t immune from: a compound they initially developed as something called a sex pollen. In fact, I think you know they tested it on a super soldier, don’t you?”

He slams his fist on the table between you two, and it splits from his actions.

You shouldn’t have provoked him with that. It wouldn’t yield the results you were trying to manipulate him into.

“Easy, Nomad,” you raise your hands cautiously to ease the tension just slightly. “That’s what they call you now – Nomad is the moniker now that you can’t be Captain America out there to the world anymore.” He flexes his fists, another angry reflex, but one you know speaks to a slight de-escalation, self-regulation. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I don’t agree with everything HYDRA has done.”

He lets out a bitter laugh.

“I don’t,” you insist.

“If you’re not in with them, you’ve made a deal with a devil you’ve vastly underestimated.”

“They’re a means to an end.”

“How can you be so foolish to think that?”

“No one will fund my research at the rate and without regulatory oversight the way they do. They’re desperate to have more of you but under their thumb, especially since you’re at the root of them losing their prize assassin.”

“You’re not stupid, so why are you giving them what they want?”

You lift your chin defiantly.

Steve’s eyes narrow. “Oh god. You can’t tell me… Really? You think you’re gonna keep your research and development from them in the end?”

“Look at what I’ve done so far,” you gesture. “You’ve evaded every attempt they’ve made to get you, you’re evading all the countries who are supposed to enforce the accords and hand you over, and yet I have you trapped here.”

“Why do you care about a super soldier serum?” he asks.

You shrug. “I’m interested in a serum, but I don’t need super soldiers. The list of your medical ailments before you were injected, and then you’re instantly cured of everything? Do you know how many people need even a drop of what cured you?”

“And you think I’d be opposed to that?”

You scoffed, “Yeah, easily. Once the research exists, it will get applied for things it was never intended to be used for, up to and including developing super soldiers for HYDRA and people who pretend they’re better than HYDRA.”

“So, who has made you this desperate?”

“You don’t get to know that.”

He scoffs now. “You don’t get to set the terms here if you intend to get what you want.”

“Don’t I? You’re uncomfortable. You’ve been uncomfortable for a while. It’s going to get worse, but I adapted the formula for what I gave you in that drink of water. All you have to do is ejaculate, and the toxin will abate from your system.”

“How thoughtful of you,” he deadpans.

Then his demeanor changes. He sniffs, and his eyes finally stray from you.

“You said this house is reinforced in its lockdown to keep me in until you initiate and secure your extraction with the HYDRA team?”

“I think you’re going to need to adjust your plans and priorities and do it quickly.”

You open your mouth to ask why, but then your mind quickly makes the leap. “They modified my ventilation system.”

“HYDRA has refused to be eliminated for decades. They can wait for a purebred super soldier and think they can get one in your womb today.”

The heat of humiliation floods your body. How could you have been so foolish not to account for a maneuver like this. They had clearly approved of your strategy too easily.

“Soon you won’t be able to think about anything more than my cock in your cunt, so you better start thinking of how you’re going to get yourself out of this, Doc, because Nomad is not who everyone knew Captain America to be, and I’m certainly not inclined to assist you in any way now. Bucky nudged Steve as they cleared and washed the dishes.

“They seem to be getting along well,” he nodded towards you and Sarah.

“Yeah, they sure do.”

Steve watched you fondly, letting out a soft sigh when you laughed at the story his mother was telling you. Undoubtedly about him and most definitely embarrassing based on the snort you let out.

“You know you look like a love struck dope right now,” Bucky chuckled.

“Do not,” he huffed, elbowing Bucky out of the way so he could keep washing.

“Oh come on, man. Why don’t you just admit it? You two are practically married.”

“We’re just comfortable around each other. We’re best friends,” Steve argued, rinsing off the last of the plates and wiping down the sink.

“No. We’re best friends.”

“Debatable,” the blonde grumbled.

Bucky scoffed, but otherwise ignored the comment.

“You two are something else. For crying out loud the two of you hosted your mom for dinner.”

Steve lacked a believable retort so he kept his mouth shut.

The truth was, he knew Bucky was right, and although he’d long since admitted his feelings for you to himself. He wasn’t ready to say them to you.

Once the dishes were done, he and Bucky rejoined you and Sarah in the living room.

“All done?” you asked as Steve sat down in the armchair. He was rarely so far away, and you found yourself missing his warmth.

Bucky lounged in the chair and a half with your pack of Oreos.

“Bucky!”

“What?”

“Those are mine for our marathon,” you pouted. “I’ve been waiting to open them all week.”  

He paused with a cookie halfway to his mouth.

“The package was half empty.”

You swung your gaze onto Steve, who was looking all kinds of guilty.

“Sorry, sweetheart. I was half asleep after a sudden bout of inspiration the other night. And I kind of ate a couple.”

“A couple?” You quirked an eyebrow at him.

“Okay, a lot. I did already replace them though. And I got you the chocolate cream ones too.”

Your mock glare slipped as you giggled in delight.

“Thanks, Stevie. I guess I forgive you then.”

His shoulders dipped in relief and you laughed at him.  

“Does that mean I can eat the rest of these?” Bucky mumbled with his mouth full.

“Oh James,” Sarah admonished fondly.

“Yes,” you chuckled. “Have at it.”

“So, what were you two talking about?” Steve asked as Bucky happily munched on cookies.

“Y/n was telling me how the two of you first met. You never told me that you took ballroom dancing lessons, Steven.” Sarah’s smile was full of mirth.

“It was just one hour a week. I wasn’t very good. Y/n’s the only reason I even made it through.”

“That is not true. You were the best partner a girl good ask for. Once I got steel tipped character shoes,” you teased.

Steve groaned and slid down in his seat.

“I’m kidding. Steve truly was the best. I’d still ask him to be my partner any day of the week. The steps are just part of it. You’ve got to know the other person’s rhythm.”

Steve couldn’t help as his smile widened.

“We have gotten pretty good at that over the years.”

“Yes, we have. It’s something I could only hope for in a partner.”

“Speaking of dancing-”

“Buck,” Steve warned.

“Relax, it’s not about you or your brief foray into hip hop.”

“Excuse me?” Sarah guffawed looking to you for elaboration.

“It was very brief. Like one day brief. He transferred to swing after his first class,” you admitted.

“Oh dear.”

“Smudge,” Steve whined hiding behind a throw pillow.

Unable to bear the sight of him embarrassed, you made your way over to him, plucking the pillow from his hands as you settled on the arm of his chair.  

“In his defense, I begged him to take it with me,” you explained to Sarah, carding your fingers through his hair. “It was an intermediate class that I was nervous to take because it was mostly upperclassmen. And Steve was sweet enough to sign up for it with me. Once I realized Natasha was also in the class, I held his oath fulfilled.”

He chuckled at the Lord of the Rings reference as his hand settled on your hip.

“My two left feet are always at your service, milady.”

He took your other hand and pressed a gentle kiss to your knuckles.

“I am learning so many new things tonight,” Sarah smiled at the two of you.

Her warm smile kept any feelings of embarrassment at bay.

“Anyways, I have a favor to ask,” Bucky interjected, breaking the pregnant moment.  

“Of course. What do you need?”

“The big fundraiser for this semester is going to be a dance-a-thon.”

“Oh that sounds so fun,” you gushed.  

“I think it will be.”

“So what do you need from me?”

“The brothers and I thought a fun way to keep the day moving was to teach different dances throughout the night. And since you’re the only one I know knows pretty much all of them…”

“Yes! Of course I’ll help. We can do swing and Lindy and…”

You hopped off the chair to grab a notebook and start writing things down. Bucky joined you at the dining room table, going over ideas and timetables.

Sarah took the opportunity to observe her son. Steve’s eyes never left you as you flitted about, talking animatedly and gesturing wildly. Clearly he was smitten. You both were. Her beloved son just needed to do something about it.

You and Sarah shared a tight hug as she said her goodbyes. She ruffled Bucky’s hair and reminded him to call his mom, before the two of you got back to work.

“Walk me out?”

“Of course, Ma.”

“You know, you really should tell her how you feel,” Sarah said conversationally as he walked her to the door.  

Steve’s steps faltered as he looked down at her, wide eyed from shock.

“I’m not in love with Smudge,” he blurted out.

“Oh, darling. Would you like to try that again?”

He sighed, knowing there was no use in lying. He was terrible at it anyway.

“I can’t tell her, Ma.”  

“And why not?”

“Because I could lose her.”

“Oh, Steven. There’s no chance of that.”

“But how do you know?”

“Because she is just as in love with you as you are with her. Any fool could see that. And I most certainly did not raise a fool now did I?”

“Of course not, ma’am.”

“Good, then go tell the amazing woman how you feel about her.”

“You really like her?” he asked with a shy smile.

“Of course I do. I’ve been telling you she was the best thing to happen to you for years. Tonight just confirmed it.”

“But what if I end up leaving?”

“Whether you leave or not, you both deserve to know your options.”

She could see the decision rolling around in his head.

“Just think on it. Personally, I think she’d be well worth the effort of long distance.”

“Of course she is,” Steve huffed, insulted his mother would imply he thought otherwise.

“Then what exactly is your argument?”

“I-“

The cab driver leaned on his horn.

“I’ve got to go. Good night, honey.”

She gave him a quick hug and a kiss on the forehead.

“Night, Ma,” he mumbled still stunned by the turn in the conversation.

What was his argument?

I have no idea why I’m making this, I guess it’s an attempt to organize myself and to maybe see if there’s any interest in what I’m working on. Anyway, here’s a list of all my WIPs and what’s going on with them.

1920s!cop!au: Another Clay Appuzzo piece, I just have the first half written. I dunno if I’ll post it, I feel like not a lot of people read Clay fics anyway.

The Night That Never Ends: My first Stucky fic. A fic I’m trying to tell in the form of one of those murder shows. I dunno, its weird and angsty. So angsty.

18th Century au: Okay, this kinda covers several fics. A Bucky fic that's only got the beginning done. A Steve fic that has a bit of the beginning and a couple scenes

Duchess!Peggy: A couple of scenes written

Untitled Lance Tucker: Lance rips his lucky jacket. I’d say this is probably more than half finished.

Untitled Project: I dunno, I can’t explain this one. It would be my first enhanced!reader fic. Right now it’s really just a bunch of scenes & dialogue that I’ve had for it.

House Restoration au: Kind of a self-insert, I want to restore a super old house with Bucky. There are several ideas that I’ve had for this and I’m not sure which one I wanna go with.

Till Then: Sort of a mash-up of Turn & MCU set in modern au. Only the very beginning is written, not sure if I’ll continue.

Serial Doubter: Vamp!Laf piece, around halfway finished. I even wrote a prologue for it.

What if nightmare steve was in the early steve saga when it was just red, blue, and green

Alright, I watched Story of Nightmare Steve to refresh my memories of Nightmare Steve. According to that video, Nightmare regularly hunts down Steves by finding them hiding at ancient Steve temples.

Sooooo, consider this: Nightmare discovers the ocean monument that Blue Steve (a part of Rainbow Steve) at the same time Sabre discovers it too. Nightmare’s unusual appearance scares Sabre away from the ocean monument, and Nightmare Steve breaks into the monument, finds the weakened Blue Steve, and destroys him. Rainbow Steve ceases to exist, and the entire story goes a different trajectory, since Rainbow Steve is just gone.

That’s it. That’s the thing to consider.

Au idea: what if light steve was in "water you doing"

Since Light Steve was created by Sabre's actions, that changes canon a lot. If Light Steve appears earlier in the Steve Saga in an AU, would Light Steve still be a creation of Sabre, or would he be a Steve discovered like the other color Steves?

I think the scariest thing related to this AU is that Sabre would meet Light Steve during his explorer/researcher times, back when he didn't see Steves as people yet. So that makes me worried about Light's wellbeing. Will Sabre see Light Steve as a rare creature he has to capture and learn about? That's a far departure of seeing Light as the Steve he accidentally created or the younger brother of his best friend (or son, depending on how you see Rainbow Steve and Sabre's bond).

Nightmare: I am the only evil Steve who absorbs innocent Steves for power and longevity. Rainbow Red: hold my Red crystal Green Steve: Rainbow Steve, you have no idea how hard life is. Even more Steves are missing than usual due to Rainbow Red and Nightmare’s actions :( Elder Blue Steve, being the classist elitist that they are in my unbreakable headcanon: You see? This is why we should never give Red Steves and Yellow Steves more power. Only Blue Steves can be trusted with that.

The illusion in the ore world au makes me think of 2 things, first is illusion sitting uncomfortably in an ore steve home drinking tea, second is the "this is fine" meme but with illusion and instead of fire it's a functioning society

Lmao, a functioning society puts Illusion Steve on edge.

Imagine if Illusion saw Diamond Steve hitting Gold Steve unconscious. He might breathe a sigh of relief and go like, "finally, something dysfunctional. I was getting antsy around a too perfect society."

Au idea: what if dark steve and plague steve swapped first appearances

To my memory, Dark Steve originally tried to convince Sabre that Rainbow was evil and needed to be stopped. And in this AU, Sabre would meet Plague instead of Dark while he was enemies with Rainbow.

I feel like Sabre would rant about his frustrations about Rainbow to Plague, and Plague would be like, “alright, I’ll help you,” and they’ll infect Rainbow like how Plague infected Infinity Steve in the canon timeline.

As for Dark Steve appearing later during the Infinity arc: Imagine Lucas and Sabre fleeing from the Rainbow Town, meeting Dark, and telling Dark all about their troubles. And Dark is like, “oh, that’s my boss’s failed creation’s fusion! I know him! Sounds like he’s having a hell of a party at your place.”

I have no idea if Dark would help, pretend to help, or go against Lucas or Sabre. We don’t know how Dark feels about Infinity, Positive, or Negative. Maybe Dark will pretend to help Sabre just to get in as a trusted ally of the Rainbow Town, so he can be like a double agent for Nightmare? If so, then these minions of Nightmare would backstab each other just for the glory.

I have 2 questions about the NRLR Swap Au, What would elder blue's villain -> antihero arc be like, and what would rainbow steve's switch to being a good guy be like

Rainbow’s redemption ideas were discussed in a previous ask.

Since Elder Blue also had a failed attempt at psychologically torturing the heroes, maybe Nightmare escaping his torment will make Elder Blue reconsider what strength and power truly mean. He’ll go off to reflect and end up becoming an anti-hero who serves no one but himself and his own sense of justice. (Looking back at this, this makes no sense to me. But eh, just throwing an idea out there. Feel free to add onto this.)

Follow-up to good-night good-verse bad-light bad-bow: what would the rainbow steve redemption arc even be and instead of rainbow temporarily being red, green, and blue in SS would nightmare become Yellow, Red, And Shadow

I feel like redeemed Rainbow Steve would act like how canon Rainbow Steve acts in the Spirit World during the Origin arc. For the actual redemption process, maybe Rainbow has a "omg, what have I done?" moment when he sees Elemental attack Sabre, just like how canon Rainbow did when he saw Void destroy Sabre.

It makes sense for Nightmare to be a fusion of multiple Steves in this AU. If we keep Nightmare as a Yellow Steve who absorbs other Steves, he'd be an anti-hero due to how immoral that is. (Unless he asked Steves to donate their powers, like Hypno did in the Ore Steve arc)
