I'm so annoyed. @kingcrow01 tumblr ate your ask about Danny's opinion on the League. tumblr i pressed 'save draft' why didn't you sAVE DRAFT.

ANyways I'm making a post instead. For everyone else, the ask was in summary:

What was Danny's opinion on the League now that he's left it? If he missed the familiarity of it, if he recognized the cult-like behavior inside it, and if he now detested his grandfather.

And to answer (again, grrr): It's complicated! We love complicated <3. Yeah, Danny does miss the familiarity of the League, it was still his home for the first ten years of his life and he has a lot of memories there. Plenty of good along with the bad, and while he's less homesick than he was when he was 10, it still hits him like a truck at random intervals.

Sam, Tucker, and Jazz are great, and he likes the Drs. Fentons enough that he's contemplated murdering Vlad for his meddling, but if he wants to eat the same food his mother used to make him and Damian, he has to do it himself and he can't get the taste right. No one knows arabic so he speaks it to himself because he doesn't want to forget his mother tongue, and he has a few books too. Frankly? He genuinely misses training.

Getting to use Sam's gym helps with his restlessness, same with training with Maddie, but he has no one on or above his level to go against other than his mother. And he only sees her twice a year at most. He knows that he's getting stagnant and he fucking despises it like a bad itch he can't scratch.

He feels conflicted about missing the League, however, since by now he recognizes the flaws and what was wrong with it, and he recognizes that it was cult-like. But even that is kinda, hrm, complicated? If this was a fic I would be able to go better into depth about what he has and hasn't unlearned because cult deprogramming is hard and Danny's doing most of this on his own.

Sam, Tucker, and Jazz have helped with the more obvious stuff: like the ecofascism, the disregard for human life, his emotional constipation; the more obvious stuff that shows in his behavior and personality. But none of them are professionals nor do they actually know the full extent of what Danny's life in the League was like. They only have snapshots since Danyal is very tight lipped about it. So they can only help with what they see themselves through Danny's behavior or word of mouth.

But in summary: He sees, for the most part, what's wrong with the League and disagrees with some of the stuff they do now. But he's very conflicted, and trying to dissect his feelings on the League confuses him. His protests about it whenever Sam and Tucker joke about it have at this point become mostly empty (altho it still causes him some discomfort), and its an inside joke between them three.

As for Ra's? Despises him. If only because Ra's wanted him to kill his little brother -- thinking about his motives with the League confuses Danny, cognitive dissonance and stuff, -- a lot of his hatred stems from "He wanted me to fight my baby brother to the death. I destroyed my relationship with Damian because of him, I had to fake my death and leave my home, and I will never meet my father or see my brother again because of him. Fuck that guy."

no pressure to respond, but would you happen to have any genuine tips on how to embrace being cringe? asking for a friend,,

honestly im not entirely sure how to give advice on this sort of thing bc ive like, literally always been a "im weird and proud about it" type ?? ive always thought things were more fun when theyre weird and different. ive also have always had a huge fucking ego which certainly adds to it fjkdhf

i think one thing is maybe to look at things often deemed "cringe" and inspect ur own feelings on it, look at the joy it brings to people who enjoy it and let that sink into ur own views of it. joy i think is the most important part of life, something that doesnt create harm but causes joy has no reason to be shamed, its bringing more light into the world! like the phrase "one mans trash is another mans treasure," one persons cringe is another persons comfort/source of happiness, and theres nothing wrong with being the one to enjoy the "cringy" thing, it just means that youre getting more joy out of the world than the other person!

also surround yourself with people who are unabashedly having fun with their "cringy" interests and maybe that sort of energy may rub off on you in time!! people just having a blast without shame is very infectious

i have a very Who Give A Shit attitude when it comes to what randos think of me, so i think also being surrounded by people who arent judgemental and give you space to get used to seeing just your own view of yourself as whats important would be good too?

btw im like sooo sleepy and wrote all of this stream of thought but i hope something here may help even if a little !! ♡ i just want to see people enjoying themselves man. life too short to worry about cringe

what is rwby and how do i pronounce it

OMG YES, THANK YOU ANON FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT RWBY

rwby (pronounced like “ruby”) is an animated show by rooster teeth about four girls who want to to become huntresses! (there’s a lot more to it, but massive spoilers). rwby is their team name, alluding to the first letter of their names (ruby, weiss, blake, and yang), but also the colors they are associated with (red, white, black, and yellow (color symbolism is a big part of the show))

it’s honestly some of the most fun that i’ve had watching a show — the characters are fun, the world is fun, the fights are fun, the angst is fun (and painful), it’s just so much fun!! if you are thinking of getting into it, i recommend starting with the four character trailers (red, white, black, and yellow) on youtube. the first couple of seasons/volumes are on youtube, then you can watch up to volume 8 on the rooster teeth website (lots of ads though, warning). volume 9 is exclusively on crunchyroll. my usual warnjng tk people starting is to just push through the first three volumes. when the show started, it had a budget of like 2 dollars so the animation isn’t the best and the end of v3 is when the main plot REALLY kicks in.

thoughts on khiphop as a genre?

khiphop is more defined by the indie-esque music system than the genre itself. a lot of artists who start in khiphop like making music in general rather than being committed to staying within a genre so its super common to see an artist go through the tight rap to pop song pipeline. this stuff performs way better with the public than classic hiphop anyways (re: b'eo counting stars, ash island melody, imjmwdp flex) re: its way easier to make money off of

i think ive ranted about this before but while there are gems within the genre, its always going to be held back in some ways by how derivative it is, which causes (imo) the following common issues:

its easy to pick up which artists an artist is inspired by (common ones include mac miller, xxx, kanye, kendrick, asap, etc), and while thats not inherently evil its not like people are often outdoing their inspirations. for every great khiphop song you can probably pull an american hiphop song doing the same thing but better. american hip hop has just been around longer and had more time to develop which i think contributes to this. artists can evolve though, i think kid milli used to sound like an asap clone but now he has a more distinct color.

i see a number of gang/drug/hood/trapper references in peoples lyrics. it comes off as corny at best, racist at worst (with occasional exceptions. eg. there are some rappers who are very pro weed legalization who rap about weed).

khh artists often have an inability to be normal about black people. its common for a korean person to go to the US, see a black person, comes back with a story about how it changed their life and inspired them to put out shitty music (queen wasabi is the prime example of this). its also common for khiphop artists to way over-romanticize black suffering or think because they're "hiphop" that they can do shit like say the n word (eg. loopy). even justhis has pulled a "yellow skin/black soul" line in his music before

The other factor that makes a lot of artists kind of cringey to me (but is definitely not limited to khh) is artists with rich families flexing their wealth and doing the whole "I made it even tho I had haters because my family is insanely wealthy" type of song and dance. A lot of korean rappers start by taking rap classes, which are even offered at some universities now (superbee started this way, killagramz is now a rap professor. lmao). flex culture is rlly disingenuous seeming when its coming from people who did not start out poor.

ok so aside from that here's what I like:

my #1 favorite thing about khiphop is the producers. producers rarely limit themselves to a single genre or sound and this allows for really experimental and cool beats. code kunst/giriboy/boycold/etc are the true stars of the genre. in general I think korean production favors a lot of transitions rather than repeating motifs like in western production which is also fun. a number of producers like Flip_00 have had a lot of success getting work in and out of korea

korean has its own unique flow to it and allows for wordplay/rhyming that would be harder to do in english

korean music taste inspires a lot of fun songs. koreans love for ballads inspires a lot of really good krnb. you can find khh songs with trot influences. I also think the popularity of fun indie Bolbbalgan4-esque songs inspires a lot of really light and dreamy beats and songs. korean music as a whole tends to do sad/emotional music well and khh isn't an exception

Friendly reminder to people that words can have multiple meanings and mean different things to different people, the word lesbian can mean "woman exclusively attracted to women" AND "nonman loving nonmen" AND ALSO "queer attraction to women"

yeah if people could just accept that a word could mean a certain thing to them and that others can and do use it differently, id have way less of an issue with the different definitions! but because people have to be like "non-men loving non-men is THE definition of lesbian! you cant be a lesbian if you dont fit this!" then its a HUGE issue.

you can not force your own descriptions for your identity onto others!! thats not how this shit works!!! all words have different meanings across different people, places, and times! yall NEED to stop acting like you can somehow define an entire word for everyone! just because biscuits are different in the USA and UK doesnt mean theyre not still biscuits to those different people!!!

hii I loved the avengers and Peter interaction!! of cource Peter would jump out of the window and Peter and Nick are hilarious!!

I do too!! Like they are like who is this feral child and why is he so hard to adopt legally (but like at the same time he gained a million moms at once bc the women simply say, yea that’s my kid now).

But no, Spider-Man doesn’t believe in doors. Like that is simply just a fact. And there is no way he takes Fury seriously, like what is the guy gonna do? Arrest a child?

And there is no way that when he gets back to earth and sees a ton more kid heroes he will be in a world of hell because they are all menaces to society and would totally take any opportunity to absolutely destroy him. Like he will look at them and be like “oh no they multiplied” although technically in the MCU he hasn’t actually talked to Spider-Man since it wasn’t Fury in Far From Home so he will just come back and not know what is waiting for him.

I’m kinda excited for phase 5, for a lot of reasons but I hope this happens it would be so funny.

i sure am!

i haven't actually checked if there is a different reaction to different types of chocolate, but will update you on that eventually, anon- as far as i know, she will take any chocolate. but also she doesn't tend to be that picky with offerings in my own experience
