Squeak

You’re sitting playing games in the recroom with Rudy and Johnny. Kyle sits down and gets dealt in to a game of Uno. You’re about halfway through the game when Hunter comes in with something brightly coloured in their hand.

“What you got there Hunter?” Kyle asked.

Hunter holds up a squeaky toy.

“Was about to ask that. Rudy is this yours?” They asked. Rudy looks confused and slightly offended.

“Why would it be mine?” He asks. Hunter feels a bit of embarrassment.

“I thought maybe for the cadejos. Wasn’t sure if you used it for them.” Hunter explains, wiggling it in the air. You notice some movement out of the corner of your eyes and look at Johnny. While Rudy and Hunter are talking about the two spirits you notice Johnny keeps watching the toy in Hunter’s hand, and his tail is wagging. You have to hide behind your cards a bit to maintain your poker face.

Kyle notices your face and gives you a silent confused look of “what?”. You look with your eyes at Soap and then back at Gaz. Gaz looks and then clears his throat to stifle his own laugh.

“Hmm… maybe it was one of the K9s we had the other day.” Hunter suggests.

“That would be my guess. Shame.” Rudy shrugs.

“Care to join us?” Gaz offers, and you can hear he’s hiding laughter. Soap gives him a look before going back to the moving toy. Hunter looks at Gaz and then takes a very quick look at Soap. They very subtlety move the toy and notice Johnny watching it. You can tell they’ve pieced it together. Rudy looks over himself and notices it. Soap is so fixed on the toy he doesn’t notice everyone else watching him.

In his defence he’s close to the full moon so the wolf traits come out a little stronger. This was the first time you’d seen him like this though.

“Sure why not. Just set this aside.” Hunter said, before tossing the toy behind them Johnny abruptly stood up from the table and Kyle practically hollered with laughter while you clutched your stomach snickering. Hunter smiled and stifled their own laughing along with Rudy.

“Away n’ bile yer heid!” Soap yells which makes the laughter erupt back up again. Your sides and stomach ached from laughing so hard. He koffs you upside the head as he walks around the table to get the toy back.

“Sorry.” You say grinning, getting some air while you sip from your water bottle.

“Full moon.” He replies. “Helps when the wolf wantsa come out.”

“Does it squeak?” You ask.

“Piss off.” He grumbles.
