From the womb the law was laid to go, but to be certain things,
There is nothing to perpetuate under the sun from the latter path that was gradually born under him
Death is an insidious figure seeking to ensnare us.

Spindle tree
Tumblr media
The name "Spindle Tree" comes from the light, yet hard wood being ideal for making wool spinning spindles. There are many common names for Euonymus, including Spindle Tree, Winged Spindle tree, Corktree and Burning Bush. We offer an improved form called Euonymus europaeus 'Red Cascade' which has an abundance of features and is popular with wildlife. The Euonymus genus contains around 130 species and whilst many of these are native to parts of Asia, Euonymus europaea is native to the UK. During the dormant season, simply remove any damaged, diseased or overcrowded branches. It is a low maintenance species that does not require regular pruning. Planting & Growing EuonymusĮuonymus cope admirably with a range of soil types (sand, chalk, clay etc) and growing conditions, even tolerating some wind exposure. Euonymus phellomanus) that are most visible in winter when the leaves have fallen. Many deciduous varieties also have unusual corky wings on the branches (e.g. Deciduous varieties have brightly coloured autumnal foliage, with Euonymus alatus being notably outstanding and referred to as Burning Bush due to the bright red autumn colour. The autumn and winter interest doesn't end there. The seed pods often adorn the tree through most of the winter, with the flesh covered seeds being popular with birds who feast on them. All the deciduous varieties we offer have fantastic decorative fruit clusters that emerge in autumn, with the pods splitting open to reveal vibrantly coloured seeds in winter. There are evergreen varieties, but it is the deciduous Euonymus (sometimes referred to as Spindleberry) that are particularly spectacular in autumn and winter. Euonymus europaeus 'Red Cascade'), they are suited to small gardens or as part of a border in a larger planting scheme. Euonymus 'Miss Pinkie') or small shrubby trees (e.g. Typically growing as compact bushes (e.g. Euonymus is a large genus that is great for everyone from first-time gardeners to those after something more unusual.

Aphids, as well as pollinators, can also find this hedge plant attractive, so, it's best not to plant too close to plots of growing vegetables in case there is an aphid migration to the plant crops. So, Spindle is best appreciated visually for its beautiful and colourful nature. Both fruit and the leaves can be harmful if eaten. It's important to note that although this plant produces beautiful, bright fruit, it's not the edible kind. You can view our full range of flowering hedge plants here. While the autumnal tones of yellow and green are inconspicuous, they are nectar-rich and therefore, highly attractive to pollinating insects, which is excellent for a bee-friendly garden. Euonymus europaeus has an average growth rate of about 45cm per annum.ĭuring May and June, Spindle hedging begins to flower. Spindle hedging develops well in normal soil conditions and situations, although, it will also endure coastal positions and slightly wet sites. For the remainder of the year, spindle boasts its unique twiggy, upright deciduous plant that showcases its dark green pointed leaves. The fruits are often retained well into the winter months, even after the leaves have dropped it's a hedge plant that looks spectacular in a sunny spot but will also tolerate partial shade. Spindle (Euonymus europaeus) is widely recognised for its stunning autumnal colours, in which the vibrant pink capsules open-up to reveal bold-coloured orange fruits, and leaves turning from a deep green to a glowing red. I’m glad we agree that Deerleap and Archeye were mates lol
I finished my Shadow tree if you’d like me to dm it for ideas? I don’t know if it was blurry for you last time or not
I think Nightwing and Wildfur would be siblings though! And I gave Happykit the suffix Happydance, he does a little jig after every successful hunt
I saw it! Dw!
Yeah Deer and Arch feel right to me too. I've always seen Arch with some brown on him and Deer has "white legs" which I think translates well into Mudfoot's brown legs.
Night and Wildfur are siblings in authorial statements and I was going to make them related too, but then I realized... I'm drawing Wild, White, and Kink as all being fucking ridiculously fluffy. They should be related.
I could make them cousins still but something feels right about them being related. I may break them into 2 litters, Kink/White being sisters and Wild/Night being siblings. But I'm unsure.

I was looking around our backyard yesterday and we have passion fruit, grapes, and blackberries. Also hackberry, though I wasn't able to identify it to tell if it was native or not.

Have been making more spindles recently bc its a pretty good constant low level migraine activity. This particular one isnt done but spins super well, better than the beautiful one that i bought. Definitely not as pretty though. Have been debating whether i want to try decorating them or not. I did used to paint my handmade drop spindles with oil paints but 1) it takes a really long time to dry completely when the humidity is this high and 2) i kinda left all my oil paints outside in the greenhouse so i dont even know if theyre still usable. Other options would be attempting to carve a design, which i see going poorly or else woodburning something, which i also see going poorly with the added risk of burning myself again. So im undecided.

And here’s another delightful tree- the common spindle.
Native to Europe (including Britain), its bright pink and orange fruits are poisonous but really enliven the landscape
