Random headcanon I don’t think I’ve ever posted before: In the Pokémon world, language education encompasses the native language of the region and “common language” which can be spoken anywhere without much issue. The reason the protagonists can move across the world and still understand everyone perfectly is because people are speaking common language to them out of courtesy. When characters (Hau and Nemona for example) speak in slang or a different language, that’s fragments of the region’s native language they’re incorporating

every time somebody goes "oh man teal mask and indigo disk are so great" i want to fly to japan and then strangle whoever came up with the dlc because *i fucking hate kitakami and i hate blueberry academy*

couldve done ANYTHING in paldea couldve had any amount of fun involving the paldean empire or the lore behind the treasures or even a legendary based on spanish mythology but instead we rehashed momotarou and got the worst batch of mythical/legendary pokemon in the history of the franchise

pokejapan has like literally *half the franchise* to itself cant we let these other regions have sort of room to breath in? kitakami is so boring and even if it WASNT the most generic location ive seen in my life, the whole place revolves around the ogerpon legend like a terrible jrpg town rather than a normal location that happens to have folklore about ogerpon. theres no buildup to the festival, its so desperate to shove this new legendary/mythical at your face that it barely builds up the kieran friendship before making the entire dlc revolve around him.

and blueberry academy is like... despair. i hate its stupid blue futuristic aesthetic and i hate that its out at sea instead of at an actual location where you can see how unovan culture actually interacts with their academy. i hate how the entire endgame of scarlet/violet revolves around this ugly fucking clubroom. why is the postgame just inviting random npcs to the clubroom and repeatedly throwing yourself at the bb league? why couldnt there be more stuff to do in paldea?

god forbid we actually STAY in paldea for more than ten seconds

like hell even if we HAVE to have this godawful dlc mess maybe jacq could be like "oh yeah some new pokemon have shown up here in paldea maybe come back for a while and check them out" and you go find like a paldean aipom or a paldean mienshao maybe you go down to area zero and its like "yeah time machines dont turn off in a linear fashion" so now youve got a bunch of new paradox pokemon running around (real talk my best idea is paradox muk and its a ghost/ground type because its a tar pit).

or maybe like we could put literally ANY REASON to go out to socarrat trail that isnt getting the treasure of ruin like maybe gimmighoul are more frequent over there and its a postgame way to more easily get a gholdengo or maybe theres like a whole bunch of treasure hunters over there who do gauntlet fights where youve just gotta fight five dudes in a row without healing

When it came to searching up Damian, this is who showed up so I hope I got the character right! Edit: My dumbass found out that Arven's name is Damian in the Spanish version of the game (plus he kept showing up when I searched up Damian). I hope I got this right so please let me know if I didn't!

Instantly attached the moment you show genuine care for him. N had already heard from your Pokemon that you were a magnificent person. They would only speak praises upon praises about how you love them as much as family would. It warms his heart to hear such things. So when he interacts with you, learning that your kindness extends to people and not just Pokemon, he immediately wants to keep you around.

The man has never experienced true care outside of his caretakers (Anthea and Concordia) so he is incredibly touch starved. His lack of experience with actual human beings has distorted his views of humanity and the norm (especially with what Ghetsis has taught him), making him socially stunted. N, however, doesn't feel out of place when he's with you. He truly feels like an actual person and not a freak because of your patience and attentive nature. You were able to pinpoint his struggles and aid him when necessary, never chiding him for the habits he has (speaking quickly, his hyperfixations, the ability to speak with Pokemon, etc.). It was an issue he was facing with after Team Plasma dissolved, but now he feels a sense of security because of you.

That's why N isn't really fond of being away from you for too long. He's grown dependent on your motherly nature and refuses to let go anytime soon. As I mentioned before in his general yandere headcanons post, it's hard to say no to this man when he looks like a kicked Lillipup. You feel extremely guilty when you try to refuse his offers to hang out. He doesn't have anyone else and he finds comfort in you...maybe your friends can wait. N needs you right now.

✧Arven✧

This is the same case with Arven, but he's not willing to admit it just yet. Unlike N, he is not ready to be fully vulnerable due to the grievances he's faced as a child. As we all know, his mother/father wasn't around often and he became independent at a very young age. He is the type of yandere who will keep his feelings to himself as he admires you from afar. Your immense amount of love and affection was so...unfamiliar to him. Foreign. He didn't know how to deal with it at first.

Though one thing is obvious to him is that he can't get enough of it. You're always reminding him to take care of himself and helping out when you can. It was odd since he's used to doing everything on his own. It...it feels good to rely on someone else for once. Was he...missing out on this for all his life? Arven reflects on things before he becomes attached to you. It's somewhat subtle but at the same time obvious. He's always by your side and doesn't go out of his way to befriend others (not like he was trying to do that in the first place).

Arven is so protective over you. It may seem endearing at first, how he stands by your side whenever you're speaking to your own friends. He's like your guard dog or something like that. Holding your hand as he squeezes it gently (you've made it a habit to hold his hand and he certainly didn't object after a few times of it happened) as he glowers at your friends. You insist to yourself that it's just his usual expression, but it really isn't the case in this scenario. He can't fathom why you even need these people when he could obviously provide you with so much. His insecurities eat at him slowly everyday. Aren't you satisfied with having him around? You don't need them...

✧Atsushi Nakajima✧

From the moment you showed your unconditional affections and compassion, Atsushi couldn't believe you actually existed. Not only are you such a warmhearted person, but you don't even expect anything in return. His heart strings are pulled with every kind action and word you take/speak. Coming from a place of hardship and pain, Atsushi had to take some time to process the way you were. It was something he clearly wasn't used to but...he couldn't help but be drawn to it. It's odd to admit it but maybe, deep down, he craves this sort of treatment. Something you just can't get enough of once you have a taste.

Then there comes the fear. You're so precious and ever so kind. It's the perfect set of traits that horrible people like to ruin. The world is just like that; where awful human beings like to destroy the beauty of it all. You're no exception and Atsushi would be damned if he allowed you to meet the same fate. He becomes protective, and why wouldn't he? You're living in a city where danger seems to lurk in every corner. You...understand why he insists to walk you home, right? Not only to make sure you're safe, but also for peace of mind. Though, sometimes he finds himself searching (and following) around for you in secret whenever his paranoia strikes him.

Atsushi can't help it. He simply cannot lose you, a person who has shown his genuine care when no one else did. You are literally the light of his life. The very person who keeps him going. He'd do anything to ensure you are never in any danger. The thought of you dying out there frightens him to tears. Always holding your hand when when it's just the two of you, just to make sure you're still with him. He feels like it's his obligation to do all this. Otherwise...what good is he to you? There might be better people in the world for you but...but he wants you!

✧Oda Sakunosuke ✧

Congratulations, darling! You just earned yourself a protector who will stick by your side no matter what. Oda immediately could see how much you hold your heart on your sleeve (unless there's more to it as he observes you). He admires your personality and has no doubt that you're a light that shines brighter than most. You have his deep respects. The tenderness in your eyes and voice when you aid others is very evident. You're definitely too good for this world. He wonders if you ever have struggles of your own. Oda doesn't mind your care or concern for him, but do expect him to return the favor, no matter how much you protest against it. The two of you are both an adorable sight, honestly.

Still, as a yandere, Oda can be a bit protective but he isn't going overboard in his actions. He does work for the Port Mafia, so he does make sure you're under some form of protection in case of anything. I will say that he is the least yandere to concern yourself over due to many variables that keep it that way. His ability is incredibly useful if anything were to go wrong. However, even then, it doesn't get to that point unless someone really wants to seriously hit him where it hurts. Also, Oda doesn't get jealous often. He has faith in you, your kind hearted self, but he worries about how others can take advantage of your kindness. Oh, and he's honest about that. He sits down to talk to you about it and knows you'll listen, taking his words to consideration. What a lovely man he is.

Oda definitely introduces you to the orphans he's taken in. He knows you'll love them and in turn they'll love you as well. He believes they really do need someone with a motherly presence, given how they don't have that anymore. If he wasn't already obsessed with you before, watching you play with the kids certainly made him want you even more. You've been a lingering thought, a dream to be added to the one he already has. More than ever, Oda wants to be a novelist who writes with a view of the ocean...and you by his side with kids of your own (if you'd want that). His drive to leave the Port Mafia is stronger as he makes sure nothing from that organization reaches your senses. Don't worry...You two will have the life you always wanted.

✧Marrow Amin✧

Marrow is an open book when it comes to how he feels about you (for obvious reasons). However, he won't admit that outright. He has a reputation after all and he can't get mushy on the job. This is what he insists as he quickly grabs his tail to stop its wagging. A dead giveaway of course. Even if Marrow is an open book, that's only half of what's going on. He deeply appreciates your kindness and it's evidently in the way he looks at you when he believes no one is around. Unlike some of the other yanderes in this post, he doesn't have much insecurities. Sure, with his background as a faunus and the potential discrimination he had faced, it could brew about self esteem issues. However, Marrow does not dwell on all that, especially since he's made it this far in life. Even so, he really enjoys the way you treat him.

The man doesn't even have to ask for anything as you go out of your way to assist him. It's cute to him, but he presents his response as a smooth, "Oh, I had that covered" just to dismiss how much he appreciated the help. It's not like Marrow is undermining your actions...and he really does feel bad when he's alone with his thoughts. Especially when you're offering your help to others instead. A sense of guilt washes over him, but also jealousy. He honestly can't stand watching you give so much attention to the newcomers who General Ironwood made official huntsman and huntresses. Like, sure, they're young and impressionable (and he likes them too!) but aren't you supposed to be aid him? I mean, he's the rookie and all (something he doesn't say out loud a lot...). Marrow can't help but watch you longingly from afar.

He's come to be accustomed to your attitude, praise, and warmhearted behavior so it was a matter of time before Marrow became completely attached. He is now sticking by your side more, giving you puppy eyes for his morning coffee, insisting you check him for injuries despite the fact that he only got hit once while fighting some Grimm and much more. Heck, he even hopes you're watching him when training or fighting off Grimm so he can hear from you how amazing he is. It just feels special coming from you...There are times where you feel like all you see in your day is Marrow. It was if your schedule only revolved around being assigned to assist him. You don't question it too much, especially since Marrow was still new to the Ace Ops. He needed guidance and all the help he could get. Is that really true though?

Thoughts about the DLC

Just saw the reveal on the Teal Mask and the Indigo Disk. Really excited on what’ll they’ll entail!! The new Pokemon in the Teal Mask are based on Momotaro, with a dog, a monkey, a pheasant, and an oni. The designs are all just “eh...” except for Monkidori, love that monke. Look at him.

Really wacky thing to do for making the player go back to Japan, especially since basegame SV takes place in Spain?? Carmine and Kieran, the new kids, they’re cool, basic designs tbh. But where’s Penny?? Where’s Arven??? Where’s Nemona!???? WHERE’S LARRY?????

The Indigo Mask is very interesting as well, since it takes place at the “Blueberry Academy” note how its not in Spanish like the other two.

Judging from this map, I’m hoping this is the southern France region. I wonder if they’ll be new convergents or regionals in either of the DLCs speaking of which... or just new non-legendary Pokemon. Carmine and Kieran appear to relevant in this story. Basegame trio erasure again!! Nemona and the others still have mysteries about them!!

Terapagos is a very very enjoyable design, it’s also very interesting, it doesn’t have that intimidating feel like the other third legendaries we have. It doesn’t feel as eldritch and monstrous as Necrozma or Eternatus. They look more like a scrunkly mythical!! I wonder if they have an alternate form much like the other third legendaries.

The Academy Aces AU is a parallel re-writing of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet versions, where the player character (Florian/Juliana) doesn’t appear, and instead focuses on the other Academy Aces: Arven, Nemona, and Penny. The three unite to achieve their respective objectives, balancing each other throughout the story rather than being united by the player character.

Thus far, content of the AU is planned to consist of three pre-canon one-shot character studies establishing key characteristics of the characters; and one multi-chapter story aligning with the respective events of the Path of Legends, Victory Road, and Starfall Street.

As it takes place in a middle ground between the Scarlet and Violet, certain details have been modified to allow a logical setting. Thus far, this parallel version of Paldea is modified to:

Combine the Uva and Naranja Academies into a single entity, formally known as “Academy Frutífera.” It is commonly referred to as simply “the Academy.”

Include both Legendary beasts. Rather than two Miraidon or two Koraidon, the Koraidon that accompanies the trio had been cast out by the Miraidon that still occupies Area Zero. Area Zero is also home to both kinds of Paradox Pokémon, who engage in a pointless and seemingly endless war that slowly becomes more threatening as they occasionally damage the surrounding region.

Depict both Professors as Arven’s parents. The relationship between the two is explored in the story.

The AU serves to focus on the individual development of the three characters, and thus includes certain interpretations and details to fill in the blanks left by the game. These assumptions are made solely based on their relevance and convenience to their characters, and as of the first three one-shots, include:

Speculations on the exact and relative ages of the characters. For the purpose of reference, Penny is 14, Nemona is 16, and Arven is 16. The former are in their 11th year, and the latter is in his 12th.

Arven’s hair covers a scar on his face, thus rendering him half-blind. 

Arven was taught English by his father; he would pick up basic words and phrases from his mother in Spanish, and eventually would become fluent in Spanish a few years into school.

Rika (“Paprika”) is the elder sister of Nemona, preceding her by seven years.

Nemona’s first language is Spanish. She was “corrected” to speak English from a young age as part of her grooming to inherit the company. Occasionally, a Spanish word or phrase will slip out, as she almost exclusively uses the language with her sister.

Having grown up in Galar, Penny has a Welsh accent. She is also fluent in Cymraeg and struggles with Spanish, only picking up a few phrases here and there.

Penny skipped her 8th year and as a result was bullied for being smaller/younger than her classmates.

Additionally, some lesser details are modified to fit the character’s goals. So far, these include:

Nemona has not yet achieved the rank of Champion; during her battle against the Chairman, she backed down for reasons elaborated on by the story.

Nemona’s dialogue in Area Zero states that “My big sister’ll probably take over the [Rotom Phone] business…” The likely interpretation of this has been changed; with her sister joining the Pokémon League, Nemona was raised to be her father’s successor. However, as the second child, she was also allowed to pursue her personal interests.

Penny: As per canon is from Galar. I do think she has a grandparent from Kanto or Johto. Cannot speak the language though. I think she is 16. Also I think (even if canon disagrees) that she has 2 younger sisters.

Nemona: As per canon she was born and raised in Paldea. I believe her to be 15. No siblings sadly. | EDIT [12/18/2022]: Apparently she has a sister in canon so I guess she does have a sibling.

Julianna & Florian: Dad is from Kalos and Mom from Galar. They can speak French. They were born in Galar and visit Kalos twice a year at max. They are 14 in my eyes. They are also each other's siblings.

Arven: Has his own post but basically. Mom is Paldea and Dad is Kalos. Speaks English, French, & Spanish. He is 16 or 17 imo.

Giacomo: Raised by a single mother. Born in Paldea. Speaks Spanish & English. I see him as 17 or 18. Definitely has siblings. 2 older sisters and 2 younger sisters. (Older 2's dad died, Giacomo's doesn't know he exists, and the younger 2's left)

Mela: Raised by a Single Father. Born in Paldea. Dad is from Unova. She is 16 in my eyes, almost 17 though. Has 1 older brother who is 15 years older than her.

Atticus: Born in Galar. He is raised by his moms. He is 18. He is an only child who wishes he had siblings.

Ortega: Raised by his parents in Paldea. Mom was born in Kalos and Pops was born in Paldea. He speaks French, Spanish, and English. He spends the summer in Kalos. He is 14 years old. He also has a baby brother.

Eri: She was born in Unova and is now raised by a single parent. Moved to Paldea when she was 12. Eri is currently almost 19. She has no siblings.

Thank you for answering my triple A (adopted Arven adventures) ask!

No problem lol, I enjoyed getting to write Ingo being a dad and exploring Arven's complex parental situation a bit.

(I do believe Sada genuinely loved him, but she just struggled with her obsession and left him to pursue it further. I know some people think the AI just said that to give Arven comfort, but I believe it. I think Arven realises that and is left with extremely complicated feelings about it all. That's part of the reason he tries to learn about her in the post game. Same applies for Turo in Violet verse.)

And, of course, writing Erin is always pleasant. He got to pet a doggie and attempt to speak Spanish. Busy boy. He also probably begged Arven to give him a piggy back ride (and the blond obliged).

Is my first post of the year a character sheet for my OC Julieta? Yes.

Not like I care since I've wanted to do this thing for a while.

Anyways, I'll be putting more info about here below and under the cut.

Julieta does like pokemon battles, in fact she has the potential of being great trainer, but she sometimes has doubts about her skills.

The reasons why her and her mom moved to Paldea were the death of her father 9 years ago and the fact Julieta isolated herself after his passing which means she was having a harder time making new friends as she grew up (and she didn't exactly had many friends before the incident). Also, the two just weren't happy living in Galar anymore ever since Julieta's dad passed away.

Yes, Julieta does speak Galarian and Paldean (English and Spanish). Before moving to Paldea, her mother was teaching her the language so she wouldn't have any complications in the future.

Julieta is usually a calm and kind person, but if you make her really angry she won't hesitate to throw some hands and resort to violence. (She was so close to kicking Arven's ass on their first meeting at the lighthouse because he was being a big jerk).

Can be emotional person at times. Don't watch sad movies with her unless you're prepared to comfort her cause she will be crying for an hour.

Ironically, when her father passed away she did her best to hide her emotions and it eventually became a skill of hers (not a really good skill to have tbh, but hey at least she learns in the future that she doesn't need to pretend she's fine or keep everything to herself 👍).

She loves reading and is a big history nerd. So you bet Ms. Raifort's class is among her favorites.

Her second favorite class is Art class.

Mr. Hassel is her favorite teacher of the academy.

Her cooking skills don't exist, she's just incredibly bad at it. Arven sometimes wonders how the heck she's managed to survived so far. (She can cook very few things that aren't extremely complex though).

Even if she can't cook, she loves food. So expect her to make a stop at the restaurants of each town she visits.

Can be very protective of the people she cares about.

She's had some crushes in the past before and they rarely lasted long or just never got anywhere (poor girl was always afraid to confess due to fear of rejection, and her lack of confidence and probably low self-esteem doesn't help her case), so when this girl realizes she's in love she's going to panic and will not know what to fucking do about it.

Remember the whole thing of her isolating from other people after her dad died being the reason she had a hard time making friends? WELL THAT WAS A LIE. The main reason of her lack of friends was that she was being bullied for her looks and for being a bit of a history nerd. And no, her mother doesn't know about this, the last thing Julieta wanted was to worry her mom.

Speaking of bullying: this is also the reason she has/had low self-esteem and little confidence in herself. (This doesn't mean she won't kick your ass if you make her angry or hurt her friends though).

Don't worry, nowadays her lack of confidence ain't that bad and her self esteem isn't on the floor (thanks to her godmother's encouragement and kind words). But she's still working on it, so every once in a while she has some self-doubts.

She LOVES to dance, it was actually one of her hobbies and it still is, she even dreamed of performing in front of a huge crowd of people. Unfortunately that wish dies down after her dad's passing, she just didn't wanted to fulfill her dream knowing her father wouldn't be there to see it. But she still keeps dancing, mostly in private and when no one is around, let's just say she's become a bit shy about it as the years went by.

VaesparWhat a world Vaespar had dropped into. He had been given a Fuecoco he dubbed Louis (a useful ally, keep him around), been dragged around this strange, oddly old-Earth Spanish landscape by a very excitable, very violent girl named Nemona, lectured by an irritable boy named Arven, and discovered a strange dragon of great power named Miraidon (another useful ally to keep around). He collected various other Pokemon in his journey, usually the first ones he found in any given location, but he had one problem - he held stricter standards for any that were not his twin generals Louis and Miraldon, and unlike the generals falling in battle was something worthy of some sort of punishment. Then the woman at one of the places known as Pokemon Centers activated a Poke Portal that contained Surprise Trade - an app that could hurtle any Pokemon off into the unknown and substitute a new one in its place.Perfect. He immediately tested it on Oates - a piglike Pokemon known as Lechonk - and got a puppy Pokemon called Rockruff in his place, who he dubbed Lang. Yes... This system had potential. At the very least it'd mix things up.

Louis always wanted to be a musician. He held up at the academy, waiting for the day he could journey with a Trainer and find his musical spirit... and Vaespar walked into his life to make that happen. 

Sure Vaespar could be a little... Strict, and... Temperamental.... And yes, he could be unfair to the rest of the team so to speak... 

...But hey pobody's nerfect, right?

Lang

Lang could smell trouble when he found it. He had the spirit of the wolf. He could smell the spirits of others. So he knew when someone was bad news, and Vaespar had that smell all over him. But he knew trouble attracted more trouble, and he'd heard about a Team Star causing problems to humans and Pokemon. Perhaps if Vaespar could help him bust those punks he'd be a good partner. 

...So long as Vaespar didn't get tired of him first.

Miraidon

Goodness! What a day! First he had escaped from the Crater and was in grave peril, then some brave human boy had saved him by offering the most delicious food! A sandwich he called it... He'd willingly stick around this Vaespar if he could get more!

...Vaespar was a little... rough around the edges, sure, but he seemed to have SOME degree of respect for him... I could fix him!

...Maybe. Possibly. Potentially. If his calculations were correct.
