How do we think things would have changed if Donna had joined the Doctor after their first meeting? I'm picturing Doctor still checking out the hospital on his own while Donna visits her family or smth and going on the adventure with Martha and they all end up travelling together.

Calvin's parents decide to take a Hawai'ian vacation. They're not sure how much of it their son will tolerate but they would like to do at least a few things that involve sandy beaches and scenic cycling routes. They are therefore pleased when Calvin seems to make friends with a local girl about his own age and the two of them run off to play
Now, from Calvin's point of view what has happened is that he spotted actual aliens, and starts trying to bring this to the attention if the adults. But the tourists are like, "that's nice, go shoot 'em with your water gun, have a good time," and the locals are like, "yeah, they're an older couple who decided to retire here. Happens all the time." Eventually, it becomes clear that Spaceman Spiff is going to have to handle it himself.
From Lilo's point of view, Jumba and Pleakley are her gay uncles, do you mind? Calvin does mind, and so the two of them spend the rest of the afternoon terrorizing Kaua'i in the effort to destroy one another while the aliens alternate between bailing them out of trouble and attempting to escape.
Hobbes and Stitch, meanwhile, are calmly playing checkers and drinking non-alcoholic margaritas.

"Calvin? Calvin, sweetheart?"
In the darkness Calvin heard the sound of Susie, his wife of fifty-three years. Calvin struggled to open his eyes. God, he was so tired and it took so much strength. Slowly, light replaced the darkness, and soon vision followed. At the foot of his bed stood his wife. Calvin wet his dry lips and spoke hoarsely, "Did... did you.... find him?"
"Yes dear," Susie said smiling sadly, "He was in the attic.
"Susie reached into her big purse and brought out a soft, old, orange tiger doll. Calvin could not help but laugh. It had been so long. Too long.
"I washed him for you," Susie said, her voice cracking a little as she laid the stuffed tiger next to her husband.
"Thank you, Susie." Calvin said. A few moments passed as Calvin just laid on his hospital bed, his head turned to the side, staring at the old toy with nostalgia.
"Dear," Calvin said finally. "Would you mind leaving me alone with Hobbes for a while? I would like to catch up with him."
"All right," Susie said. "I'll get something to eat in the cafeteria. I'll be back soon."
Susie kissed her husband on the forehead and turned to leave. With sudden but gentle strength Calvin stopped her. Lovingly he pulled his wife in and gave her a passionate kiss on the lips. "I love you," he said.
"And I love you," said Susie.
Susie turned and left. Calvin saw tears streaming from her face as she went out the door.Calvin then turned to face his oldest and dearest friend. "Hello Hobbes. It's been a long time hasn't it old pal?"
Hobbes was no longer a stuffed doll but the big furry old tiger Calvin had always remembered. "It sure has, Calvin." said Hobbes.
"You... haven't changed a bit." Calvin smiled.
"You've changed a lot." Hobbes said sadly.
Calvin laughed, "Really? I haven't noticed at all.
"There was a long pause. The sound of a clock ticking away the seconds rang throughout the sterile hospital room.
"So... you married Susie Derkins." Hobbes said, finally smiling. "I knew you always like her."
"Shut up!" Calvin said, his smile bigger than ever.
"Tell me everything I missed. I'd love to hear what you've been up to!" Hobbes said, excited.
And so Calvin told him everything. He told him about how he and Susie fell in love in high school and had married after graduating from college, about his three kids and four grandkids, how he turned Spaceman Spiff into one of the most popular sci-fi novels of the decade, and so on. After he told Hobbes all this there was another pregnant pause.
"You know... I visited you in the attic a bunch of times." Calvin said."I know."
"But I couldn't see you. All I saw was a stuffed animal." Calvin voice was breaking and tears of regret started welling up in his eyes."You grew up old buddy." said Hobbes.
Calvin broke down and sobbed, hugging his best friend. "I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry I broke my promise! I promised I wouldn't grow up and that we'd be together forever!!"Hobbes stroke the Calvin's hair, or what little was left of it. "But you didn't."
"What do you mean?"
"We were always together... in our dreams."
"We were?"
"We were."
"Hobbes?"
"Yeah, old buddy?"
"I'm so glad I got to see you like this... one last time..."
"Me too, Calvin. Me too."
"Sweetheart?" Susie voice came from outside the door.
"Yes dear?" Calvin replied.
"Can I come in?" Susie asked.
"Just a minute.
"Calvin turned to face Hobbes one last time. "Goodbye Hobbes. Thanks... for everything...""No, thank you Calvin." Hobbes said.
Calvin turned back to the door and said, "You can come in now.
"Susie came in and said, "Look who's come to visit you.
"Calvin's children and grandchildren followed Susie into Calvin's room. The youngest grandchild ran past the rest of them and hugged Calvin in a hard, excited hug. "Grandpa!!" screamed the child in delight.
"Francis!" cried Calvin's daughter, "Be gentle with your grandfather.
"Calvin's daughter turned to her dad. "I'm sorry, Daddy. Francis never seems to behave these days. He just runs around making a mess and coming up with strange stories.
"Calvin laughed and said, "Well now! That sound just like me when I was his age.
"Calvin and his family chatted some more until a nurse said, "Sorry, but visiting hours are almost up.
"Calvin's beloved family said good bye and promised to visit tomorrow. As they turned to leave Calvin said, "Francis. Come here for a second.
"Francis came over to his grandfather's side, "What is it Gramps?"
Calvin reached over to the stuffed tiger on his bedside and and held him out shakily to his grandson, who looked exactly as he did so many years ago. "This is Hobbes. He was my best friend when I was your age. I want you to have him.""
He's just a stuffed tiger." Francis said, eyebrows raised.
Calvin laughed, "Well, let me tell you a secret.
"Francis leaned closer to Calvin. Calvin whispered, "If you catch him in a tiger trap using a tuna sandwich as bait he will turn into a real tiger."
Francis gasped in delighted awe. Calvin continued, "Not only that he will be your best friend forever."
"Wow! Thanks grandpa!" Francis said, hugging his grandpa tightly again.
"Francis! We need to go now!" Calvin's daughter called.
"Okay!" Francis shouted back
."Take good care of him." Calvin said.
"I will." Francis said before running off after the rest of the family.
Calvin laid on his back and stared at the ceiling. The time to go was close. He could feel it in his soul. Calvin tried to remember a quote he read in a book once. It said something about death being the next great adventure or something like that. He eyelids grew heavy and his breathing slowed. As he went deeper into his final sleep he heard Hobbes, as if he was right next to him at his bedside. "I'll take care of him, Calvin..."Calvin took his first step toward one more adventure and breathed his last with a grin on his face.

Jealousy.
tenth doctor x fem!reader
SUMMARY : the doctor isn't too pleased with his companion's new friend. Donna gets inlvoved in some overdue matchmaking.
Tumblr media
The Doctor's list of regrets is endless. He's said things he didn't mean. Treated people in ways he shouldn't have. Taken part is stuff he doesn't even allow himself to think about. But the newest addition to the list, by far, is his most regretful of them all.
He introduced y/n to Jack Harkness.
In his defense, there really wasn't any way of avoiding it. When using the rift to refuel the TARDIS's engines, he spotted the familiar coated figure of the Captain sprinting towards his ship. Following his past actions, he quickly rushed towards the console and started his ship, sending his faithful companions, Donna and y/n, flying across the room; completely unaware of the hijacker clinging onto the outside as they hurtled through the vortex.
When they landed at their next adventure, y/n immediately spotted Jack on his back in an awkward position on the floor.
"Doctor!" she yelled, making him and Donna rush towards them. Donna gasped as The Doctor rolled his eyes.
"Not again." He moaned.
Donna and y/n looked at him in shock.
"You mean to say this has happened before?!" Donna exclaimed. "How many free passengers have done this?"
"Just him," The Doctor said, running his hand through his hair. "I think he's the only one who'd dare. The only one who could survive."
Y/n had been monitoring the muscled man, checking for consciousness and life signs yet not finding any. She looked up solemnly, "Doctor, I'm so sorry. But I can't find a heartb-"
She was inturpted by a strong intake of breath as the man sat up, her and Donna screaming. "I knew I shouldn't have skipped first aid class!"
Jack looked around, eyes catching the kneeling woman beside him and he lifted a finger to her chin, making their eyes lock and a blush take over her cheeks. "Hello." He smirked.
"Stop it!" The Doctor frowned, crossing his arms across his chest.
"I really don't mind." Y/n smiled shyly.
The Doctor was used to this. Jack flirting with every living thing but for some reason it irked him more than ever. Donna nudged his shoulder, a small smirk on her face, causing the timelord to scoff. "You not gonna introduce us?" She said, somewhat smugly.
Begrudgingly, he pointed to members of the group. "Jack, this is my friend, Donna. She travels with me. Donna, this is Jack. He used to travel with me. Now he runs a Torchwood in Cardif." They smiled at each other in greeting before Jack raised his eyebrows and watched the woman who had her arms wrapped around him for support.
"Are you not going to introduce me to this beautiful woman?" Jack asked, fingers brushing the young lady's heated face.
The Doctor sniffed, eyes avoiding the two on the ground and the snickering redhead to his side. "Jack, this is y/n, my...friend."
"Y/n," Jack began, smiling with his bluest eyes. "gorgeous name for a gorgeous lady."
And that's when it began.
Since then, the two had been inseperable. Always close to the other, always laughing or playfully bickering. And quite honestly, the Doctor hated it.
There had been an unfamiliar distance between him and y/n since Jack re-entered his life and stole his friend from him. He was quickly growing resentful.
From a distance, he heard the common occurrence of Jack and his companion's laughter, his frown deepening into a scowl as he hit a button on the console.
Donna noticed and slowly stalked towards him, watching as he slumped back into the pilot seat, eyes distanced and distracted.
"Oh, c'mon, Spaceman," She began, red hair cascading her face as her right hand was holding a hairbrush she was previously using. "What's up with you?"
"Nothing." he sulked.
"Oh, come off it. You've been a right miserable git these past few days. And it doesn't take a genius to figure out the reasonings behind your sour mood." She rolled her eyes, walking back to the mirror she had been using to comb her hair prior to starting the conversation.
"How'd you mean?"
"Well, since y/n and Casanova over there met," She pointed into the hallway leading into the kitchen. "You've been sulking all over the shop."
"Donna, I have no idea what you're talking about." He denied, still not meeting her eyes.
"Lay off it. You're jealous."
"I am not-" he began but quickly halted when his voice had unnaturally raised a few octaves. "I am not jealous."
"Yeah, okay." Donna rolled her eyes, setting the brush down while abandoning the mirror.
"I'm not!" He exclaimed.
"I'm agreeing with you!"
"Mhm" He stood up, pressing a few more buttons, ignoring the ginger as she sat in his previously acclaimed seat. "Good."
A silence took over them as Donna stared at her hand, thinking about having y/n give her nails a touch up. "So.." She began, treading on water. "If you're not jealous, I'm sure you'll be happy to know that y/n and Jack are thinking on going on a date."
"What?" He frowned, jaw clenching.
"Yeah, that's what they asked me to come and tell you. Will you take them to a romantic planet. Maybe somewhere with a restaurant? Pretty lights. Jack wants it to be special for her." As she spoke, she hopped from the seat and walked to the exit of the room, allowing her voice to travel with her, leaving a glum doctor standing alone by his console with his thoughts racing.
Later that day, y/n jogged into the kitchen, dressed in pajamas with her hair tied back. She smiled, finding the doctor eating a banana as he leaned on the counter. "Hello, Doc!"
His eyes lit up at the voice he found himself missing. He chucked the remains of his fruit into the bin, smiling at his companion. "Hi."
"Donna told me to ask you about 'the trip.' She's been banging on about it! Says I need to dress fancy. Jack's already picking out his suit."
His mind thought back to the conversation he had with Donna earlier that day and a frown engraved itself onto his face. "Oh, right."
Feeling an uncomfortable atmosphere creep its way into the room, she opened the cupboard and searched for her supply of jaffa cakes the TARDIS had gratefully given her.
The Doctor watched, a small smile growing on the corner of his lips. The TARDIS really liked y/n. It was not often his ship would offer a selection of his guest's favourite delicacies to them.
"Y/n", he said, earning a soft noise of acknowledgement from her. "Are you..Happy..here? With me?"
Y/n dropped her chocolate on the counter, rubbing her hands free of crumbs as she looked up at her Doctor. "Of course I am! What a silly question. I love it here! I love the TARDIS, I love our adventures! I love y-" her words fumbled over the others and she looked down in embarrassment.
"Are you..going to leave?" He asked, insecurities flowing out alongside his words. Y/n stepped close to him and grabbed ahold of his calloused hands.
"Of course I'm not. You're not getting rid of me, TimeBoy." She smiled. "Where's this coming from?"
The Doctor looked down at their joined hands and he squeezed them lightly, not knowing what to say to fill the quietness.
"Doctor?"
"It's just..." He sighed, finally allowing himself to meet the eyes he'd found himself getting lost in so often, he could alonost count them as a second home. "I don't want you to date him." he mumbled.
"Date?" She asked, brows furrowed in confusion. "Who's going on a date?"
The Doctor looked perplexed, mouth opening and closing with no sound escaping them. "Donna said-" His mouth closed again, face hardening. "Donna." He whispered, rolling his eyes at his obliviousness to his sassy friends blatant lies.
Still confused, Y/n searched his eyes for answers. "Donna said what?"
Sighing, he explained, "Donna told me that you and Jack were going on a date."
"A date? With Jack?" Y/n laughed, crinkles forming under her eyes. "I love Jack, obviously, but only as a friend." She said, still laughing until realisation hit. "Wait, but would it be so bad if Jack and I were more than friends?"
"Yes." The timelord answered so quick.
"Oh, thanks." His companion said, dropping his hands while creating some distance between the two.
Understanding his mistake, he reached forwards and took her hands again. "But only because.. because .. I don't think you're suited well."
Y/n frowned but her eyes softened at the vulnerable look on her Doctor's face. It was his turn to stumble through his words and she watched as a pink hue danced upon his freckled cheeks and tinted the tops of his ears. "Doctor, what are you trying to say?" She prodded softly.
"I-" Forcing himself to say the words, he looked nearly pained. "I'm saying.. that you're better suited for someone else.." Penny in the air. "Someone like, well, me." Penny drops. "Y/n I am in love with you. So absoloutely and completely in love with you. I never thought I would find love again, but I did. I found it in you."
Silence filled the room once again. His brown eyes searched his companion's face but found no signs of mutual feelings. Her face had remained unchanged, no words leaving her lips. He searched her eyes, so used to being able to read everything she was feeling just by looking into them, though he again found nothing.
He started rambling, tripping over his words. "I'm so sorry, just forget I said anything, it doesn't matter." His hand tried to slip out of hers so he could exist the room, but she clung on firmer, not allowing him to move. "Really, y/n, I'm so sorry, just for-"
Suddenly he felt her soft lips on his. He let out a noise of startled surprise before it registered that she was kissing him. The dream he had dreamt a million times had became a reality. His mind sprung into action quickly, and he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her in closer and deepening the kiss. His free hand reached up and stroked her cheek as their mouths moulded together perfectly.
She truly was made for him.
Breaking away, the doctor pressed his forhead to hers, lips barely distanced, both of them panting. She reached up and ran a hand through his gelled hair, before bringing it down and stroking his neck.
Both of their lips were plumped from the kiss, and she bit into hers before talking. "Doctor, I am just as equally as in love with you."
A massive smile broke onto his kissed lips and he tugged her closer, bringing her in once again. However, they were interrupted by cheering.
They turned their heads slowly, looking at the door and spotting his redheaded companion and immortal friend cheering and high-fiving, drowning in victory.
AHH, SECOND POST= DONE. hope you enjoyed! Thank you so much for the support on my first fic. I'm really enjoying writing again! I used to love it, but I found myself doubting my abilities and becoming inconsistent with it. So, to have people read my work and like it is just unimaginable. Thank you! <3

since I've rewatched the special, I made a list of some of my favorite choices:
the Doctor casually handing the sonic screwdriver to Donna while he was building the energy walls, because he knew she'd help him
the damn walls themselves that came out of nowhere to look like a new BOTW feature LMAO
the way Donna reluctantly said "skinny minnie, you're not bad" and the Doctor smiled so smugly that he had been able to impress her again
the Doctor bandaged the Meep with so much love??? there's so much tenderness in 14
Donna Noble being the fiercely loving mother we all knew she would be and defending her daughter from all sorts of things fills me with so much delight. she feels so real to the Donna we knew, and to the mothers who are like that
Donna sprinting after the Doctor and arriving at the control room out of breath to say "That's enough running" LMAO
it hurt me the slow way Donna said "binary, binary, binary" in direct contrast to the way she said it the first time when she got stuck. my girl isn't stuck anymore!!!!
Donna PISSED that she gave the money away because she couldn't remember why she felt like she should give the money away LOL. it made her "as soft" as the Doctor lmao
the Doctor's absolute JOY when Donna's properly back and they are once again in sync
"She chose her own name." Rose having part of her mom's Time Lordness which also came from the Doctor, so they all three understand how important the name Rose is, and what she represents in Donna's life since Rose Tyler helped her in Turn Left. we'll see if this is ever brought up again
Shaun Temple being certain that 1) Donna would never cheat on him and 2) especially not with the skinny spaceman HAHAHA. Donna and Shaun both roasting the Doctor about it, I loved it
the Doctor remembers Donna's coffee order 😭 the fact the TARDIS has a coffee machine to signal there's time to stop and chat over a cup, how we've grown. now add chairs.
"it killed me, it killed me, it killed me." boy, do we know this is both literal and metaphorical. seeing 14 saying all that which 10 couldn't say is giving me a lot of emotions
all the instances the doctor protects Donna (and her family). like him walking on his knees to prevent the Meep from shooting her; or when the regeneration energy kicks in, and the Doctor keeps himself as close to the glass as he can, trying to comfort Donna; or when the TARDIS explodes at the end and his first instinct is to shield her from the flames. like this is the stuff, bro. this is love.

Birthday Fanfic - Soft 14
Diving headfirst into Tumblr by posting the little birthday fanfic I wrote for my bestie @davidtennan-t Because she deserves all the soft 14th Doctor content 💖
Tumblr media
Ten glorious months had passed since the Doctor had bi-generated, and subsequently sent his 14th regeneration into not-quite-retirement, or perhaps more aptly a retreat-for-emotionally-damaged-time-travellers. Time was a funny thing for anyone to grasp, and even though the Doctor had lived seemingly for eons, he suddenly found himself with oodles of spare time – a concept he had never experienced nor grasped before. He was still struggling to adjust to it, and the restlessness could make him absolutely insufferable at times. Donna had never seen someone illustrate the idiom “climbing the walls” literally before, but if she’d ever expect it of someone it would only be her freakishly nimble Spaceman.
During the first couple of months, she would often find him out in the shed in the dead of night tinkering with everything from a Silurian hibernation unit to model aircrafts, or in the kitchen experimenting with the ideal pH-level for water to make the perfect brew. Other times he would be sat next to Rose either deep in the most random conversation, or complete silence, or listening to one of her playlists, while he handed her tools and materials to put together her latest design. Her gonks had changed since she let go of the lingering Meta-Crisis, but she kept coming up with new ideas, some that Donna heavily suspected were inspired by actual aliens from trips they kept sneaking off to. Truthfully, Donna simply loved the fact that her daughter was able to explore time and space as she had once done, but she was also very protective of her. The universe could be an incredibly dangerous place, but there was no one she trusted more when it came to protection than the Doctor.
After a couple of months, the Doctor had finally started unwinding. His restlessness declined and the lines in his face became softer as the broodiness eased up, and he would often sleep through the night rather than tinker or aimlessly wander. He rarely spoke of his experiences during the time they had been apart, but he would bring something up on occasion to any of them. He and Wilf seemed to have a special understanding, as they had both experienced their fair share of battles. The bond between Donna and the Doctor went far beyond words though, and while there were times when they spoke endlessly and tirelessly, they often sat in comfortable silence. It wasn't uncommon for the Time Lord to seek Donna out for a comforting hug, or he would wordlessly take a seat next to her and curl his skinny frame up against her, with a sigh as deep as the Universe.
The Doctor was slowly healing from his trauma, which in turn made their whole little household more harmonic. It was only in the last month or so that Donna noticed another sign of healing in the Time Lord. His hollow cheeks had filled out not long after settling down, but now she realised he was actually filling out in other ways. Those tight suits were looking tighter still these days, and his lower shirt buttons were definitely struggling to contain a certain softness that had never been there before. It didn't surprise her, but she could tell the Doctor was oblivious to it, initially at least. Even though he still had the energy of a toddler on a sugar high, his days of endless running and fleeing were done, and retirement came with creature comforts the Doctor had never been able to partake in before now. There was suddenly time for three course dinners, or meals that lasted hours, not to mention countless cups of tea and biscuits. It wasn't just meals shared with friends and newfound family - the Doctor became rather popular in the village, particularly the sweet old lady in the house next door. He had started doing odd jobs for her the day he moved in and to show her gratitude and appreciation she would make muffins, cakes, and sugary biscuits, meaning his larder was always stocked with freshly baked goods. One might even suspect she was actively trying to fatten him up, since she kept fussing and fretting over his skinny frame, and Donna didn’t blame her – his gaunt appearance had been rather harrowing when he’d finally conceded to settling down. The soft roll that had slowly formed around the Time Lord’s waist was a testament to the healing and decompressing he’d experienced thus far, and it was honestly reassuring to see it.
To a stranger’s eye, the Doctor would probably still appear as lean or lanky, but to those who knew him there was no denying the subtle changes. A few weeks ago, the Time Lord had finally caught up with it himself, and the realisation hit him when he encountered two issues at once. Firstly; he tore a button off in his struggle to button up his shirt, and secondly; he couldn’t get his trousers closed and zipped up either. He had marched in on the family eating breakfast, wearing only a vest and boxers, ranting and raving about this perplexing issue. They had all sprung into action in their own ways, showing support and patience for the brilliant yet simultaneously dim alien. Rose had wordlessly taken the Doctor’s trousers and went straight to her craft room to let them out enough to make them wearable, until he could get himself a new pair. Shaun had gone to his closet to pick out one of his own shirts, which certainly wouldn’t be a perfect fit, but would definitely be big enough for the Time Lord. That left Donna, and Wilf to a lesser extent, with the task of explaining the changes that had been so obvious to everyone but the Doctor. He had been relentlessly running for so long that the consequences of not doing so had clearly slipped his mind, and it was evident that the notion of putting on weight both intrigued him and irked him simultaneously. Now that he’d settled into a routine, the Doctor was less apt at dealing with changes, either for good or bad. There was also a certain vanity that came with being a Time Lord, but it had certainly lessened with this regeneration, and Donna couldn’t help but smirk to herself when she thought how the Doctor might have reacted to putting on a few back when they’d first travelled together.
“You definitely need some meat on your bones, Doctor – frankly, you’ve earned it,” Wilf insisted robustly.
“He’s right, you know. This is nothing but a bit of comfort weight,” Donna reiterated.
“I don’t know… it just makes me feel so…” the Doctor faltered, unable to find the right word.
“…human? Normal? At peace, at long last?” Donna suggested. She noticed him making the tiniest of grimaces at the first word, and she couldn’t help but give him a playful glare – as much as he loved humanity, he still found it hard to fully embrace anything human about himself, which only made it easier to tease him.
“Oh, stop sulking, you big dunce. If I threw a fit every time the scale didn’t show the number I’d like, Shaun would have walked out within our first week together. That tiny excuse for a belly would hardly even be enough for three Adipose, you know,” she remarked, which made them both chuckle reminiscently.
Since that morning, the Doctor had grudgingly allowed the TARDIS automated tailoring unit to alter his suits, but it certainly improved his comfort levels. He didn't alter the trousers that Rose had let out for him as her work was impeccable, and the gesture meant the world to him. Donna had even seen him lovingly stroking the fine stitches at the waistband, which nearly made her burst into tears out of love for the alien uncle's adoration of his human niece.
Just before the weekend, Rose had begged her parents to let the doctor take her for a quick visit to Greece. She had desperately wanted to see the Acropolis, but Donna didn't want her messing about with time, so they had compromised and allowed them to go to modern day Greece. They were only gone for half an hour that Saturday, but had spent an equivalent of 6 hours in Athens. Apart from visiting the ruins of the Acropolis, they had done some shopping, or rather, Rose had. No matter how much Donna tried to discourage it, the Doctor wouldn't stop spoiling his niece. And she was thankfully too sweet to take advantage of him… at least most of the time. She had picked out two dresses and a lush fabric for her sewing projects, and even managed to convince the Doctor to buy himself a new pair of swim trunks as well as vegan moussaka for the whole family’s supper. As it turned out, that wasn't the only thing they'd ended up bringing home.
“That is not what I think it is,” Donna protested when they exited the TARDIS.
“We couldn't leave him, Mum. He was nearly run over by a car, but the Doctor saved him,” insisted Rose, who was clutching a tiny ginger kitten to her chest.
Donna turned her pointed gaze on the Time Lord, who merely shrugged helplessly.
“I might not be the biggest cat lover, but I couldn't let the poor beast get squished,” he said.
“I'm not saying you should have let it die, but you can’t let her drag home every bedraggled creature you happen upon, or you’ll have to turn the whole village into a sanctuary for kittens, Oods, and God knows what else,” Donna sighed in exasperation.
“You got to keep your bedraggled alien,” Rose pointed out with a cheeky expression.
“Oi, don’t get snippy with me, missy. Now you’d better sort out a flea bath for that baby – we can’t do with an infestation on our hands… again,” Donna ordered.
Rose merely giggled as she handed the small creature over to the Time Lord, while she hurried for the gate – the old lady next door had plenty of flea shampoo to spare, as they’d found out after a particularly hairy alien (quite reminiscent of a certain Meep) had paid them a visit… and brought along a few unwelcome pests. The Doctor held the tiny cat as if it was a very delicate, yet also repulsive, figurine.
“What is this strange aversion you have to cats?” Donna chuckled at his perturbed expression.
“Not sure… suppose it’s got something to do with their glands,” he muttered.
Donna merely shook her head and stooped to pick up the shopping that had been left just outside the TARDIS to bring it inside.
Within the hour, Rose had managed to give the kitten a bath and its first meal. It had also knocked over two potted plants, gnawed a hole in one of Wilf’s slippers, and caused the Doctor to curse loudly in Gallifreyan as it used his long leg as a climbing pole while the Time Lord was trying to reheat the moussaka. By supper time, she had set up a playpen for it, so they could all enjoy their meal together without the ginger furnado causing mayhem around them. Once they had enjoyed their Greek cuisine, Rose turned her attention back on the kitten, while Donna took care of the dishes. By the time she had finished wiping the kitchen down, she went to see how her daughter was getting on with her new pet but was surprised to find Rose by herself in her craft room.
“Where did you put that kitten then?” Donna wondered.
“I asked the Doctor to keep an eye on him – I forgot I had a deadline to keep,” Rose replied and gestured to the purple gonk sat on her desk.
“If that’s going to be your pet, you’ll need to be responsible for it, love – no handing it off the moment you get too busy, that’s not how animals work,” Donna pointed out.
“Oh Mum… you honestly thought I kept that cat just for me?” Rose chuckled as she turned to focus on her sewing.
Donna was about to argue since it was evident the Doctor really didn’t care much for the critter, but there was a knowing sort of gleam in her daughter’s eyes that made her curious.
“All right, if you say so. We were thinking of watching a film later, if you’d care to join us,” she said.
“Thanks – if I get this finished I might take you up on that,” Rose replied.
Donna left the craft room behind and decided to see how the Doctor was getting on with the furry menace. His bedroom was empty, but she hadn’t expected him to bring the kitten in there anyway, and so she headed to the first floor sitting room next. There was the Time Lord and the ginger beast, but not in a position she had expected. The alien was sat on the sofa, long legs sprawled over the floor, his body slumped against the cushions in a deep sleep. His head was tilted back, his mouth slightly agape as he breathed calmly and steadily. On his ever so slightly rounded middle lay the kitten, curled into a tiny ball of soft fur and whiskers, also deep in sleep. The sight was almost too endearing to handle – Donna nearly wept at it. This was all she’d ever wanted for her best friend… A life of love and comfort, with friends and family ever present. For him to be safe, to be saved, but her daughter had spotted a different need; the Doctor’s need to save others. A kitten might not compare to rescuing an entire town, planet or species, but it was a life saved all the same. Donna carefully pulled out her phone to snap a picture of the picturesque scene, before taking a seat across from the snoozing Time Lord. The sound of her movement caused him to stir, and he slowly came to with a yawn.
“Looks like you’ve gotten soft, Spaceman… in more ways than one,” Donna teased him fondly.
The Doctor blinked sleepily at her, before peering down at the kitten still sleeping soundly on his recently softened middle.
“I suppose once you look past the glands they may not be so bad after all,” he conceded with a crooked smile.
“That niece of yours has got you wrapped around her little finger, you know,” she remarked.
“She does. I am helpless against her charm,” he chuckled.
“You’re both absolutely hopeless,” Donna pointed out.
“I’d say she gets it from her mother,” the Doctor retorted, while he gestured for Donna to join him, since he was reluctant to shift his position even slightly. She had long since stopped second guessing what anyone else might make of their physical closeness – if it didn’t bother her husband, what did it even matter? So she didn’t hesitate to switch seats and settle down next to the Time Lord, where he instantly let himself sink down further until he could nussle his head up against her shoulder. Donna reached out and stroked the tiny ginger furball, and the kitten instantly started purring in its sleep. There they sat in comfortable silence, Spaceman and Earthgirl, and all was well.

Bean Eclipse Au has my love and seeing any post makes me very happy but now I want to get to know your Space au a little. May you give us some funfacts about the characters to get to know them better?
Aw thank you! I'll do my best describing some things! Its been a moment where I dont know what ive said about them on here. ((The ladies, are by @nekojaf so if u want info on them you gotta ask her!)) First, We got Eclipse (yes thats his name, unless we go au hopping its-)
Tumblr media
-He's a captain of his own spaceship (however its mostly a ship that can house just a handful of people.)
-He's self confident, he's got leadership qualities and doesn't stand down often. However can be a huge flirt (as Beige unfortunately deals with). -I've mentioned before but Eclipse (like other models of his kind) are far more Emotive than the previous models.
-Eclipse is the reason Lunar has a collection of plushies. The guy is very good with sewing. -He's not familiar too much with the 'Star' like SAMS' Eclipse is. At least not currently. He's far more concerned with other things.
-His relationship with Earth is rather... interesting. He may be vocal about not wanting to speak to her but its mostly cause she's like a mom who tends to baby him. (Although he can't blame her frequent check ins.) -Most people avoid him, but that's cause he's made an interesting name for himself.
Lunar, my BOY who started this whole au actually.
Tumblr media
-The space suit was given to him by Eclipse. Who may have taken it.
-He comes off as sweet, but don't think less of him in comparison with his brother. He's mischievous as well, and cunning when needed.
-Far better at keeping his emotions in check than Eclipse.
-Unlike Eclipse (again) he's actually rather good at y'know. Getting the girl.
-However, he is younger than Eclipse. In part not as experienced with the whole line their apart of.
-Rather handy with his shots, but better at driving. Also has a bit of a name for himself.
-Cannot actually believe how his brother acts around Beige from time to time. He's judging his brother immensely everytime. Just let her clear the hyperdrive so they can go!
Moon!
Tumblr media
-It should not be a shock he's still a scientist in this au. (Mad scientist Sun would say...)
-But in part of that, its due to being part of a Space Camp. He's suppose to be in charge of the sciences of how rockets run. However he uses most of that to make his own things.
-It usually does end up with the kids handling it. Unless Sun gets involved. Kids love the anti gravity chamber a lot.
-Also in this AU he is still AroAce.
-However since Sun and him are under a company, they don't usually leave the Camp. They can't really.
-Moon has made a Star.
Sun, sweetie my darling.
Tumblr media
-Although him and Moon run the Camp together, Sun mostly handles the kids. (Although, Sun more or less just doesn't want them getting hurt cause of Moon's experiments.) -He's been having trouble with some outsiders makings noise lately but it's usually something he can handle. The dome around the place keeps the camp relatively safe (and Safer with Moon's additional technology)
-He goes by his own checklist, although the one from the higher ups isn't something he wants to fully deviate from. It's kept things running, and their own job secure.
-He may be dressed up as a Spaceman, he's uh... not actually one. At least not by astronaut standards.
-They don't talk to other models of themselves.
-Earth and Sun usually can talk for hours. However, he tries not to keep her too long. She's got others to check in.
Bloodmoon, yes it's him!
Tumblr media
-The possibly second youngest.
-He's the only model of his type that... well Ruby's seen actually.
-An avid fan of Invader Zim, due to many movie nights he's had with Ruby. (In an effort to help him learn some things about people...without being near too many.) -He doesn't understand why he needed clothes, unaware of his own autonomy.
-Unfortunately for everyone, WAS destroying planets and ships, destruction in his wake. No one could keep him contained. Until Ruby. But she's not really trying to contain him.
-His curiosity mainly keeps him in check, at least in regard to his learning program. He still seeks some chaos, even if it is on a isolated ship in the meantime.
-Comet Boy! Danger, do not engage.
Angel, y sweet sweett bababyyy
Tumblr media
-Probably the oldest? He's quite a mess it's hard to tell.
-Has been passed around here and there from job to job so he's very well versed in many skills!
-Earth finding him again was a blessing. She thought she lost him. Incredibly thankful for Cosmo.
-Is far more interesting in helping Cosmo than being helped. He's survived quite a bit!
Killcode, don't you forget my giant man.
Tumblr media
-Was made by Moon, or from Moon. In doing so, he's got a few quirks he picked up.
-Such as... He's actually less violent. However able to withstand radiation, rocket blasts, high velocity impact, mundicide... Assumingly.
-Incredibly Tall. A normal person would maybe feel incredibly intimidated by how much he towers.
-A darling cook, he mostly has to kneel for that though. Not many ktichens he's been in are for his height.
-He's a rather calming personality, has no qualms to start fights.
Earth and Solar Flare (or welll... the ACTUAL Sun)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Two AI's made for well.. as you guess the Earth and the Sun.
-Earth is as expected to be motherly, warm, stern with her own wants. While SF has less expected results of being rather recluse, cold, to the point and selective in their interactions.
-Earth is partly why the actual planet is far cleaner. With her being actually forthright about the planets condition. It helps if theres someone who may be disappointed if you throw your trash on the ground, or company's dumping waste. She may have been made, but she more or less is her own being. Most don't mind since her main concerns usually fall with her own planets affairs. That doesn't mean she doesn't have concerns of other places.
-SF was made as a safe bet to monitor the sun. However, hue to unexpected AI developing their own personality. SF doesn't fairly speak to much anyone aside Earth. He rather feels she's better at relaying information than he is. Ironic, they find.
-Recently some reptilian android has started to make some impressions on Earth, SF doesn't normally hear her talk about individuals like this aside the 'children' she oversees.
-Earth also ended up supervising the celestial and eclipse models. Attaching to them far more than expected but due to- [The Rest is too glitched to make out.]
Well that was more typing than I thoguht it'd be. But me and Neko have quite a bit of art. The main inspiration for a lot of it is retro futurism. But thank you for asking! You also got Earth in there too. My sweet lady I love her.

Schrödinger’s Poison
Mending the spaceship’s extra cargo net was difficult. Too many strands. I held a couple in my teeth while both hands struggled with the rest, and it wasn't enough. I was considering getting my feet involved (or maybe a crewmate) when I heard excited voices in the hallway.
“Welcome back! Find anything good?”
“Yes! I met someone who wanted the expired heatpacks!”
“What, seriously?”
“You owe me a shrimp stick. Pay up.”
Good-natured grumbling followed. I was pretty sure these were the Frillian twins, who looked like fishy bodybuilders with a fashion sense that always caught me off guard. Either drapey veils and skirts, matching their own flowy fins, or strategically placed stretchy bands. No middle ground. And they were very competitive.
“What did they even want with old heatpacks? You told them they were expired, right?”
“Of course I did! You think I would cheat like that?”
The indignant one was Blip, I was pretty sure, the female of the pair — or the closest thing to female, since their species seemed to handle gender a little differently than humans did. Her brother was Blop.
“Ah, ‘course not,” he admitted. “What are they going to use them for, though?”
“Something about separating the components and putting them to other uses. But look what I got in trade! Human food that’s not expired!”
I looked up at that, mouth still full of cords, but of course the cargo bay door blocked my view. I listened, though.
“What kind is — OH, GET IT AWAY!”
“What? Why?”
I froze, just as curious.
“Do you know how many humans that stuff kills every cycle??”
“What are you talking about?” Blip demanded. “It’s food. It says so right here.”
“Don’t touch me with it! Put it in the containment chamber and get yourself scanned for poison!”
I wove quickly, rushing to finish so I didn’t lose my place; we needed all the nets, and we hadn’t been able to get a new one at the space station; this was important; but Oh man, what do they have out there?
“Humans are omnivores who eat anything! How is this deadly?” Blip was demanding when a new voice arrived.
“What’s the shouting?” asked Paint, her usual cheer dampened by worry. I could just picture her with hands clasped anxiously and her scaly tail held stiff: the very picture of lizardlike concern.
“That’s poison!”
“It’s food!”
“Poisonous food!”
Any hope I had of Paint calming things down was dashed when she asked for a closer look, then slammed into the cargo bay door in her panic to jump back. “I’ve heard of that! It killed an ambassador!”
“See? I told you—”
“We need to get you both scanned, and maybe me too,” Paint said, hyperventilating already. “Maybe the whole ship! Is it airborne? CAPTAIN! CAPTAAAIN!”
I threw the net to the floor and lunged for the door button. It banged open and startled Paint even more; she spun from where she’d been about to dash off in a streak of orange scales.
“What is it?” I demanded, making the pair of Frillians back up a step. I probably looked like some unhinged demon, slamming out of the bay like that. They were both wearing veritable clouds of neon green silks, so the surprise was at least a little bit mutual.
Blip held a jar over her shoulder, clearly torn between showing me the label and keeping it at a safe distance. I squinted, expecting alcohol or some unregulated drug.
Spaceman Spiff’s Chunky Peanut Butter, said the label.
I stared for a long moment, while everyone was silent. Then I’m afraid I startled them all by bursting into laughter.
“It’s not poisonous!” I managed to say.
“But it killed an ambassador!” Paint objected. “I read the report!”
“I am sorry to hear that,” I said, leaning against the wall for support. “The ambassador was allergic to peanuts.”
It took a bit of explaining, and I had to go over it all again when Captain Sunlight came running up, but I did get things settled.
“I can’t believe there are humans allergic to food,” Blip said. “I’ve heard of overreactions to mild toxins and venoms, but really, food? From your own planet?”
“Yup,” I said, putting out a hand for the peanut butter. “Not me, though. I like peanuts.” The jar was a hefty one, manufactured for long voyages. “We can still scan it to run through the medical systems, just in case one of you guys might react badly to it. But it’s not officially toxic.”
“Well, that is good to hear,” said Captain Sunlight, standing as tall as her little lizardy frame allowed. “How about you do that now, and anyone who came in contact with it goes along?”
Blip and Blop agreed immediately, not needing Paint’s waving hands to usher us down the hall.
I looked over my shoulder at Paint as I walked. “Once we get everybody checked out, you should try some. It’s good on toast.”
“Toasted what?” Paint asked, still shooing away.
“Bread.”
“Oh no,” she said. “I heard about that ‘pizza’ you talked people into eating on Kamm’s ship!”
“Some of them liked it!” I objected.
“Not Bopburt.”
“No, not Bopburt,” I admitted. “But this is totally different. Thanks for getting it, Blip!” I turned to wave the jar at the Frillian in the lead.
“My pleasure,” she said, and it almost sounded like she meant it.
“Want to try some once it’s safe?”
“No, I do not.”
“Your loss.”

Just some Fourteen and Donna thoughts
(My gif and sorry the quality is shit I dunno what happened 😢)
Tumblr media
What if, after the bi-regeneration thing, Fourteen lost or gave up the ability to regenerate? Like he doesn’t age like a human because he’s not but he can die.
And he doesn’t do some weird merge with Fifteen bc I said so.
So basically he just continues living with Donna and her family. He’d be a lot more careful than before because he doesn’t want to die just yet.
BUT!
Donna eventually dies due to old age and Fourteen is there with her until the very end because of course he is.
And Donna is lying there surrounded by her loved ones and she just smiles at The Doctor and says “see you soon, Spaceman.”
And he knows that he’ll see her soon but he’s still sobbing because she’s his best friend and he doesn’t want to be without her.
“See you soon, Earth girl.”
As soon as Donna’s gone, The Doctor just looks his family and gives them a sad smile. They understand why he’s doing this but that doesn’t mean that they don’t hate it.
The Doctor goes back to his TARDIS and says “I’m ready to go.” The TARDIS helps him go and it’s easy and painless. A lot easier and less painful than regenerating. Just like falling asleep.
Then he’s awake again. In his TARDIS. But the TARDIS looks different. It feels more…him.
“Finally, Spaceman! What took you so long? I have places to be and things to see!”
It was like they hadn’t been apart or stopped travelling and she looked just like she did when they first met.
“Sorry! So. Where to, Earth girl?” The Doctor does his hyper jumping and running and grinning thing he does.
“Pluto. Pluto deserves justice! I just want to give the little planet a hug.”
The Doctor does his raised eyebrow thing.
“Oi!”
“Sorry! Pluto it is! Allons-y!”

Losing Donna was the last straw for ten. The man who loved so much, so often, who lost three beautiful, important women to him. He lost Rose, and just barely recovered, but partially at the expense of Martha’s wellbeing.
And then he finds Donna again, and he’s happy. He adores Donna, and like River said, “She held you back when you needed holding back, and she egged you on when you needed…egging.” Donna was his best friend, and proof that he could recover, and love, and love someone deeply.
And then he lost her.
And that was the last straw for him. He seems okay sometimes, but then Christina calls him ‘Spaceman’. And then he can’t do what Donna told him to, he can’t even save someone on Mars. He’s running faster and harder than ever before, and he’s trying to control something because he’s lost everyone. He lost Donna, the world won’t let him have anything, he went from briefly having a group of friends, a family, to fly a Tardis with, and within an hour, he was completely and utterly alone again, and that broke him beyond repair. That broke Ten beyond repair.
The Doctor losing Donna was it for him. It was the last thing he could take, until he regenerated. Ten suffered so much and loved so much, and he loved Donna with every last breath he had. And Wilf, even though he’s trying to help, showing the him Donna hurt him so badly. Like dangling all he wants and all he had so recently right in front of him. “You need her, wouldn’t she make you laugh again, good old Donna?”
And Wilf was right. Ten needed Donna.

good night, spaceman
posting a random domestic doctordonna ficlet because my heart cannot contain it, honestly?? it's short and silly, something about settling in one of the first nights, but shhh mama need to let it out. read it as platonic or romantic, i don't really care. i know my preferences, but hey, if it works for you? coolio. also, if you drop a request in my asks, chances are, i'll write something else
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Whatcha doing?" he frowns from the doorframe.
Inside, fabric flies and his minds instantly sings parachutes! – no, nope. Why would there be parachutes? Pastel colours settle down quite mundanely. He stifles a disappointed sigh.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" Donna retorts, bowing over it, arms at work. "Changing the bed!"
A beat of silence.
"Why?"
She stops. The Doctor tenses instinctively. Shouting Donna is the default setup. The TARDIS (shuddering to her timecore, he imagines) bangs the swearing filter back on the instant that woman steps inside again. Silence, though? Now, that's trouble.
"How do you sleep?"
He scratches his cheek, sincerely wondering.
"I don't, usually."
Another pause. A blatant I-am-so-done-with-your-Martian-things look, ominously familiar, sets over Donna's face. He tenses more, only for a quick nod to follow.
"Yeah, that checks out."
"Right, then... D'you need help?"
"That's bamboo linen," she points out.
Huh.
Is that something he should understand?
That's… new. Usually it's him baffling others with random words, not the other way around. At the risk of getting annihilated, albeit verbally, but actually he wouldn't bet that verbally only, the Doctor steps closer and reaches for the other end of the bedsheet.
"I'll just?.."
"Hands off, you!"
"Blimey!" he shakes his palm.
"That's actually fancy!" The Doctor's hand is still stinging with a slap. Donna half-grins at him, some secret laughter warming her eyes. "Spacemen who consistently ruin their ship aren't trusted around fancy stuff. And don't gimme that look, mate. I wasn't there the last few times, and neither was that coffee."
Well, moments like this, then. He'll be collecting them. That's gonna be a new habit, instead of collecting heartbreaks. Laughing again - and with Donna! Grinning back, hands in pockets, the Doctor decides to hold on to it. On the darkest nights, when thoughts run bitter and endless, he used to count the stars – the only light across the empty vastness of the space. Now he can count sparkles in his best friend's eyes. What a life! What a beautiful, beautiful life.
"I'll just stand there, then?"
"Yeah, try not to explode from doing nothing," she huffs, still smiling, "or else I'll disown you."
"Disown? When did you own me?"
He watches Donna roll her eyes and sigh with her whole chest while finishing the job.
"Day one."
Linens get smoothed over, and Donna's hands glide across the fabric, adding the last touch. She looks over. Neither of them can stop an idiotic little smile appear, and the Doctor welcomes it with both his hearts, for her and for himself. He nods in agreement, shining brighter than the sun. And he's been to the sun. Well, some of them, at least.
"Sounds about right."
"You bet, Spaceman."
She's going to leave for the night. Before doing so, however, Donna does walk over. Full of surprises, her. She tidies his collar, and frowns a little, and darts him a look that's simultaneously worried and caring.
"Listen, you. If anything happens. If your honestly severe sleep deprivation, I don't know, decides to burst into a horror show, or something…"
"Wait, what?"
"I mean, if you have nightmares–"
"Oh, come on! I'm not a five-year-old–"
"Yeah, you're worse!" she cuts him off, showing her You're So In Trouble face for a brief moment. Her every line softens. She's searching his eyes for something, clearly grappling for words, but cannot seem to find befitting ones. Then just sniffs her nose and finishes matter-of-factly. "Rose used to have them. Poor kid was dreaming your space nonsense… well, our space nonsense. All I'm saying is, I'm a light sleeper when I need to be. There."
She pushes a cushion in his chest, and the Doctor sways a little. Wihout missing a beat, his other hand is around Donna's shoulders. Brilliant, rude, kind-hearted Donna Noble. The one who brought him home.
"Thank you," he whispers.
"Good night, Spaceman."
And for the first time in literal ages, he's actually excited to have a boring, ordinary, good night.
