Love how Sonic and Shadow are different kinds of patient and different kinds of impatient.

Sonic can be impressively patient with people, even people who don’t deserve it. He never gives up on anyone and will work with you as long as it takes to achieve a solution.

When it comes to things, however, Sonic has zero patience whatsoever. Long lines? Can’t do it. Long loading screens? He’d rather die. Jigsaw puzzles? He’ll throw the pieces at the wall in pure rage.

Shadow can be patient long enough to figure out the details of a puzzle and can retreat into a calm and brooding headspace with long lines, but if it’s a person that’s being difficult, he will have the shortest fuse you’ve ever seen and punch them right in the fucking face.

This is so interesting because it parallels Draco so much. Except that while in Harry's case everyone just kinda rolls their eyes about him being too noble and pushes him to alter his behavior, for Draco his reluctance to engage in true violence is considered so serious and disgusting a failing that it actually puts him in danger.

And of course Draco uses a disarming spell against Dumbledore and Harry uses one against Voldemort. Not only do these actions parallel each other but Harry's disarming spell works to defeat Voldemort specifically because of the disarming spell Draco used a book earlier.

Whether or not you ship them, it is undeniable that these characters are deeply intertwined in a number of fascinating and resonant ways.

If you grew up with Goosebumps, do yourself a favor and go check out the new Goosebumps series. Because it has an overarching narrative it's very different, but I'm kind of in love with it.

This show has everything.

- Classic Goosebumps stories retold with care

- Justin Long doing the absolute most. I had no idea he had so much physical comedy in him

- Trans actors playing canonically, openly, on screen gay characters

- Hardcore 90s grunge nostalgia

- Plausible villains with plans that make sense, even if they involve ritual sacrifice

- Quickly resolved love triangles

- Goo that smells like watermelon Jolly Ranchers

And so much more. Honestly, if you like campy horror-lite nonsense go find this. It's on Disney and Hulu (or probably your preferred port of call 🏴‍☠️) and it's really fun.

Losing Donna was the last straw for ten. The man who loved so much, so often, who lost three beautiful, important women to him. He lost Rose, and just barely recovered, but partially at the expense of Martha’s wellbeing.

And then he finds Donna again, and he’s happy. He adores Donna, and like River said, “She held you back when you needed holding back, and she egged you on when you needed…egging.” Donna was his best friend, and proof that he could recover, and love, and love someone deeply.

And then he lost her.

And that was the last straw for him. He seems okay sometimes, but then Christina calls him ‘Spaceman’. And then he can’t do what Donna told him to, he can’t even save someone on Mars. He’s running faster and harder than ever before, and he’s trying to control something because he’s lost everyone. He lost Donna, the world won’t let him have anything, he went from briefly having a group of friends, a family, to fly a Tardis with, and within an hour, he was completely and utterly alone again, and that broke him beyond repair. That broke Ten beyond repair.

The Doctor losing Donna was it for him. It was the last thing he could take, until he regenerated. Ten suffered so much and loved so much, and he loved Donna with every last breath he had. And Wilf, even though he’s trying to help, showing the him Donna hurt him so badly. Like dangling all he wants and all he had so recently right in front of him. “You need her, wouldn’t she make you laugh again, good old Donna?”

And Wilf was right. Ten needed Donna.
