Honestly, the way that so many queer events are labeled to make them seem like only binary-gendered cis people attracted to (only) one gender are welcome isolates so much of the queer community. There’s so few queer events in my area, and even less that I feel like I’d be welcome in. The lgbtqia+ community has a history of exclusion, whether you want to admit that or not, and a lot of the people who don’t fit perfectly into the “ideal label” are not going to know if they’re welcome unless you explicitly say so.

Honestly I really think people haven't unlearned toxic femininity and often just use feminism to justify it. You're being the same cliquey, judgemental, rude girl you were at 13. But now instead of "ew I don't want to sit with Brenda because she's like a gross boy, she doesnt even wear lipgloss" you say "I don't want to sit with Brandon because all queer spaces should prioritize femme solidarity and that's something a man can never understand so Brandon has to be kicked out now because he started T"
And the same ideas are behind it.
You prioritize people for being culturally or subculturally acceptable, not for being nice people. You exclude people not because they're rude, or bigoted, or anything, but because YOU feel like they shouldn't fit in here.

I'm not even gonna directly respond to the ask I just got and I just blocked the anon who sent it, but I just wanna say... If you'll come to my blog to spout exclusionary bs at me, you can shut up and just block me instead because aside from this post, I'm not even gonna react to it cuz none of you deserve the time of day.
Also if you think aroace people don't belong under the queer umbrella, you can honestly shut right up and I sincerely hope you step on the pointiest, most annoying legos every single day for the rest of your miserable life

I hate to tell you this, but many gays also love Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. (A musical show about discovering your identity and the negative effects of internalizing harmful societal ideas about relationships, which also has canonically queer characters in it.)

Not to be crazy but I love how Miles feels like he doesn't belong among normal people and then in a place where he is around people similar to him he STILL doesn't belong because he just isn't similar enough. The metaphor is screaming at me

i love your blog because you post a lot of pretty aesthetics things but you're not a terf. too many aesthetic blogs that like nature and shit are terfs. bless you
i mean yes that should be the baseline but unfortunately i understand the sentiment. the hashtag cottagecore crowd seems to either fall down the terf pipeline or the tradwife pipeline. luckily i was born with this thing called a brain which is very useful when employed in critical thinking

I feel like I need to share this so, to all the will stans: you're not alone.
I know you feel like you're unworthy of love and you've probably experienced abandonment before, but trust me when I say it won't always be like this. one day you'll find someone who really, deeply cares about you and that just won't leave you. and this will be it, no people abandoning you, just friendship and comfort.
and I also know you probably don't feel comfortable in your own skin, because you can't fit in, you just can't. but the world is so full of different people, and who says that being different is worse? you don't have to be a certain way in order to have people appreciate you, you're allowed to be yourself. being you is enough, being you is beautiful.
and yes, there will some people out there who won't like you, but if you try to start loving yourself, you'll notice that it won't matter anymore because it's ok, you don't need to please everyone.
please be kind to yourself, loving yourself is not selfish, is one of the best gifts you can ever make yourself, and you'll notice other people will feel influenced by your energy too.
and it's true that society is not kind to us, it never has been, but you have so much kindness in your heart, using a little for yourself will just make things easier.
you're not alone in this, trust me.

Random Bruno Pride Thoughts
CW: my very queer opinions
I’ve noticed that a lot of the people who identify with Bruno, like a lot of us, are demi-sexual/romantic and bi. Ever since that latest round of Jared Bush answers when he confirmed that there was a REASON Bruno is single, I’ve been thinking about what Bruno’s canonical identity might be.
I know it’s most likely that if they’re going the LGBT route they’re going to go for the more straightforward identity of Bruno being gay, which would still make me happy. (I mean, if they try saying Bruno is straight I’m laughing my ass off at them.) I just find myself hoping they go for one of the lesser known identities. There are a lot of queer stories that are still left to be told, and I think Demi-sexuality/romanticism is a good next step. I know they probably won’t go the “gender doesn’t matter but vibes are essential” route because to people who haven’t already rejected the gender binary that seems like a really complicated concept, but that would fit the character, and the fans who love him. And, there are queer kids out there who would benefit from knowing that’s an option, which (imo) is always the most important consideration when it comes to these conversations.

Oof I accidentally ran into some ace discourse.
I mean hey I’m also not platforming terfs or transmeds or Nazis it’s the same principle. And yeah ace exclusion is on the same level as terf shit. It’s bad. It’s not welcome here.
(I meant to do a bullet point list but you know what? Polls are fun I’m keeping it.)
