so much happened in this whole episode but i’m still on fig infiltrating ruben’s dream, making it look like the place where his friend was murdered, and then disguising herself as kipperlilly & repeatedly saying different variants of “somebody needs to take the fall for this, and it’s not going to be me. it’s going to be you.” while adaine as the elven oracle shows up next to her. can you imagine waking up from that, the idea of a horrible truth being pinned on you by your friend to save her own skin while the personification of fate and destiny stands there, almost as a promise that this is GOING to happen to you. we don’t even know if this kid is guilty. my god.

idk about anyone else but for me /personally/ assigning any of the wof dragon tribes a single equivalent human culture or accent feels kind of weird or off. Unless you’re like. Specifically from that culture and know what you’re interpreting

like sure the ‘nightwings are British because they’re voiced that way in the audiobooks’ is funny at first but I once saw a post break down the accents by tribe and assign sandwings a Nigerian accent. Which IMMEDIATELY makes the fact that they’re commonly rogues and thieves in the story not a fun cowboy thing but a vaguely racist thing suggesting that all Nigerian people scam and steal, which. Given the ‘Nigerian prince’ thing is already a stereotype, well…-

and it definitely isn’t JUST that, I’m not trying to call a single person out. But these kind of 1-1 correlations lead to results like this 9/10 times and it just feels strange. Just mix stuff together. Mash ideas from different places into one. Don’t make the dragons a 1-1 parallel to a specific human culture because then any story you tell that may connect to a stereotype of that culture will come off really, really bad

anyways I've been relistening to mean girls the musical the past few weeks and one tiny thing I liked about the musical is how they established the similarities between Regina and Janis - particularly through similar habits ("those bITCHES!"), sharing Someone Gets Hurt, and through their friendship with Cady (though there are VAST differences there, I'd like to believe that both Janis and Regina were genuinely interested in being friends with Cady even if they had their own selfish and manipulative agendas with her).

However, I admit that I was rather disappointed that this point in the movie's Janis and Cady fight wasn't featured that much in the musical's counterpart: Janis saying, "At least me and Regina George KNOW we're mean." Though this was somewhat shown through Janis singing, "I hate Regina's guts, but here's what you can't comprehend: at least she has the guts to not pretend to be my friend!" (Which also in turn emphasizes the emotional impact had on Janis), it sadly did not show the point the movie tried to make: that both Janis and Regina are Mean Girls and that both KNOW it - unlike Cady who would like to believe that she herself is in the right.

I have mixed feelings about the Gravity Falls episode 'The Love God'

One the one hand, it had a really morally questionable love potion plotline, and tried to redeem (?) Robbie by giving him a new love interest which is...not how the world works, the overall lesson appears to be 'don't mess with other people's free will, but if you do then, oh well, they're better that way,' and in general, is a terrible episode if you wanted one with a good moral about how relationships (both friendship AND romantic relationships) work.

On the other hand, it is the only episode where Wendy actually acts like a fifteen-year-old, so it has that (and the I EA T KIDS balloon) going for it *shrugs*.

I may have just been struck by inspiration for this capstone research project for my master's degree, and it might, fingers crossed, be the kind of inspiration that finally gets me to email around looking for a learner group.

Which is good, because they recommend a 12 week schedule and there are only 12 weeks left in the term 🙃

#kite rambles #this is also not the kind of course that I can cram into two and a half weeks like the last ones #because I have to do actual processes and work around real people #uugghhh #but was thinking 'hey a known problem is teenage susceptibility to false and misleading information (intentional or not) on tiktok'#'maybe contact girl scouts for a troop I can do some lessons with how to recognize and etc??'#like that sounds plausible right?#the capstone has to be action research on an identified problem #which can be addressed with 8-10 hours of instruction #and I need a group of like 5-10 participants #that sounds doable to me #so the lessons would be on recognizing iffy information and then what to do to investigate?#idk #that or maybe the cultish attitude behind some tiktoks so how to avoid cults #idk I've been dreading this project the whole degree because it has to be ACTION research #and not something I can just use sources to investigate

Can’t believe I’m experiencing my full blown MCR awakening in my mid twenties while going through second puberty because of HRT

I literally had the “your music is too violent and loud” argument with my mom during a family road trip like this shit is comically stereotypical at this point

#girl help I’m living authentically and experiencing the repercussions about ten years late #I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving mcr btw they’re just too important to me at this point #but wow they say queer people are forced to experience true adolescent freedom in their mid to late twenties and they were RIGHT #I was always too afraid of societal rejection to really let myself be free in who I am #I wanted to fit in and have other people like me SO deeply and terribly that I lost myself #and now that I’m finally just doing whatever the hell makes me feel REAL I think it’s coming as a shock to everyone around me #they’ll get used to it. or not. I can’t really be assed to care at this point #I only have one life and I’m gonna do what makes me feel like I actually exist #that being said: no more mcr in front of other people lol #none of my friends or family like them so I’ll just have to keep them as a source of comfort for myself privately #and of course on this blog lmfao I have to let it out somewhere #very strange to be feeling like a misunderstood teenager as a full ass adult #I’d cringe if I wasn’t so exhausted at denying myself things that make me feel alive #sorta cringing anyway tbh! but better alive than dead #blithering on #gender
