Fandom can be a scary place. Especially big fandoms. There's so much to read, so much to see, so many people who all seem to know each other. It's easy to get overwhelmed.

But then there are people like you. People who are so passionate about fic and art and our silly little blorbos. People who reach out into the community and elevate other people. People who love fandom and support writers and artists and podficcers and mood-board makers and don't spend so much time talking about how good other people are.

I joined Drarry fandom close to three years ago? Maybe? And was both spoiled and overwhelmed by all the creations people had made. There are so many good things given to me, for free. It was a wealth of riches.

One of those creators is @sitp-recs. Now, she's not as active as she used to be, real life being an absolute bitch to us all, but Liv has given hours and hours of her time to the HP community in the two years since she started her blog.

Recs aren't easy. I've done some here and there and it's one thing to read a fic and leave a quick comment (looks at all the times I've typed 'this is amazing/gorgeous/perfect/insert your platitude here') but Liv had always taken that a step further and that just amazes me.

Liv has done individual fic recs, themed rec lists, has been a resource for fic finding, and she's done it all while being a person who has a life outside of fandom.

Somehow (I have no idea how I am so fortunate) I've gotten to know Liv over the last year-ish and let me tell you, she's not only a good fandom friend, she's genuinely a good person. She's funny and snarky when needed, kind all of the time, and her heart is so big it makes mine ache. She loves with all of her heart, and it shows in every rec post she's made and every interactionshe has with her friends. Liv is generous and has given the fandom so much.

So thank you, Liv. Thank you for everything you've done. I'm so honored to know you and call you my friend. You're a lovely, beautiful person and all of our lives are better because of you.

I've always called fic reccers curators of fandom, and everything you've done for us has solidified that statement.

I'm so glad we're celebrating you today, because you've celebrated all of us so much.

Kinda cringe to do this so late but I've finally had a moment of peace after christmas and I am ALSO feeling soppy and emotional so here goes:

I know every post in this fandom ever has said that this feels so one-of-a-kind and different from any space they've been in before, AND I'M GONNA SAY IT AGAIN! I have never thought of a tag on tumblr as a sort of weird little family where we all exchange ideas and works of art and memes, or ask questions like it's a community notice board. The friends I've made both here and on tiktok mean the world to me, and I'm so grateful we've created such a community here where people are easy to approach and to maybe get to know on a deeper level. Maybe it's the christmas cheer yay but even if we've sometimes disagreed on some stuff, I couldn't care less right now, I've never been part of a more wholesome community than this.

Käärijä, and Jere as a person, has made me so much more confident than ever before, and I've done things I never thought I could bcs of him. I'm so grateful for such a figure like him in our music scene right now, especially a male figure, who doesn't dismiss his queer/female fanbase and does whatever he wants. His message of kindness not only to other people but also to yourself has helped me SO MUCH over this year. I've never talked about this publicly but the night of the ESC finale when I heard people SCREAMING his name, and lyrics in my native language, I started sniffling like a baby from shock. I've never been particularly proud of my roots, but Käärijä has made being and speaking finnish cool, and none of us have ever seen anything like it here.

To all of you who learn our language, take the time to listen to other finnish music, watch finnish media and maybe even visit our country: thank you. We hope it's been fun and even if all of you move on to other esc artists in the next season of it, we are so grateful for this small moment of recognition. Genuinely, we're so happy people appreciate our culture on its own for once <3 we won't ever forget this.

I hope you've all enjoyed my stupid little translation videos/posts, and that they've been helpful/entertaining in any way lol. I'll admit that ever since I made deeper friendships here I haven't been as active, so if I ever miss an anon please just ask again and i'll get to it! I can't wait to meet some of you who are coming here next summer to see Jere, hopefully by then he's seen sense and hired me as an in-house interpretor for all you fäns from ader kantri. And even if you can't travel here or to any of his other shows: i love you all so much <3

Today is my 1 year Writerversary!

I’ve been sharing my writing publicly on AO3 for a whole year! Which is absolutely insane to warp my head around! In the last year I have achieved so much and I honestly don’t think I could have done it without the friends I’ve made because of my writing!

Before I started sharing my writing, I was alone, with only immediate family to socialise with, but since posting my writing on Tumblr and AO3 I have made so many friends! And it’s because of those friendships that I kept writing and kept sharing!

I know I haven’t been as active over the last few months with writing, but I plan to change that, my goal is to get back to regularly posting stories, whether it’s part of one of my long fics (Far Horizons & Ancient Stones, The Blood Prophecy, A Tall Glass of Red Wine or Guard and Glaive) or one of my Bad Things Happen Bingo Prompts, a monthly writing event or just a random One Shot story.

It is my hope that I am able to share some sort of writing at least once a week because it is my goal in celebration of this milestone that I will be able to balance my time better in the future, which has always been a personal problem for me!

1. Are you named after anyone? My middle name, Jean, is after my dad’s mother’s name. My initials & last name is also the same name as an Australian recycling company, JJ Richards. 😆

2. When’s the last time you cried? Last week. I’ve been feeling a bit flat since the cold weather arrived but I’m pretty sure I’m experiencing early menopause so my emotions are a bit all over the place lately. 🙂😭😠😆

3. Do you have kids? Nope. I decided long ago I didn’t want kids and was lucky enough to find a life partner who doesn’t want them either.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Nope. Sarcasm is an odd humor and I get it, but I prefer to just be funny instead of sarcastically funny. 😜

5. What sports do you play/have you played? I’ve played netball and horse-riding. At the moment I only walk or go running and sometimes lift light weights, and sometimes swim once a week. Swimming is very therapeutic for me.

6. What's the first thing you notice about other people? Eyes, hair, clothes 

7. Eye color? Green

8. Scary movies or happy endings? Both, but I’m not really into those soppy happy endings. I also love Sci-fi movies!

9. Any special talents? Horse-riding, I feel like that is a talent. I can also run in high heels.

10. Where were you born? Australia

11. What are your hobbies? Reading and learning about space and the universe. Stargazing, simming, tumblr, playing around in photoshop with my sim posts, organizing my sims pre-made gameplay spreadsheet, watching movies & TV series.

12. Do you have any pets? Yes. We have three chihuahua's, Sniffs (male), Squish & LouLou (females). Two sheep, Sherbet (f) and Sheldon (m), and 15 Belgian de’uccle chickens. The sheep & chickens are originally my partners pets and I like to keep it that way. 😄 I do look after them when he goes away on birding photography trips but I’ve just never bonded well with them.

13. How tall are you? 5.10 or 11 I think. People have always told me ‘Oh you’re so tall’ and I guess I was back then for a teenage girl but now a days being tall does not seem so out of the ordinary.

14. Fave subject in school? Hurts my brain to think back that far, but English, Pottery & Art. I once got a B+ on my Art exam which was the highlight of my entire schooling. 

15. Dream job? I stopped dreaming of my dream job years ago and have accepted my position in this life as an office zombie. 🧟‍♀️

Maverick’s little girls first day at school

You and Mav was dreading this day when your little girl heads to school.

Mav was making Molly his famous chocolate and blueberry pancakes and he didn’t seem his usual cheeky self.

You grabbed a plate and stood next to mav and shacked your head.

“Mav look at me we knew this day would come our little girl has to start school someday.” She kissed mav as she heard Molly’s little feet coming down the stairs

You turn and smile “oh look at you all ready in your uniform and ready for school daddy’s making his famous pancakes”.

Molly walked to sit at the breakfast counter and smiled and turned to face you.

“Mummy why does daddy look like he’s about to cry did somebody make him upset”

Your heart felt all fuzzy and so proud your girl could sense Mav’s feelings.

“The reason why daddy looks like he’s about to cry is because it’s your first day at school think daddy’s gonna miss having his little girl around and nobody has made daddy upset.”

Mav handed Molly her plate with pancakes as you were asking Molly what she’d like in her lunchbox.

After breakfast was done Molly hopped off the chair and went to put on her new shoes and jacket then get her school bag.

You carried Molly’s lunchbox for her whilst mav took the car keys after everyone got in he began to drive to Molly’s school.

“Mummy after school finished can we go see uncle roost please I wanna draw him a picture”. Molly loved spending time with rooster and the others.

You looked over to mav and smiled he nodded and looked into the centre mirror.

“Okay Molly we’ll go see uncle rooster and the others after your finished school.”

They arrived at Molly’s school getting out of the car you did a little check “bag, jacket, lunchbox, I want you to be brave and have a good first day and mummy and daddy will be waiting for you okay.”

Mav knelt down and smiled and gave Molly a massive big hug.

“Our brave little girl’s first day of school go have fun make lots of new friends and we’ll go see uncle rooster and the others when schools done.”

Molly held her lunchbox and slowly walked to be greeted by her new teacher.

Abby looked at Molly “hello you must be Molly Mitchel guess your feeling scared all those other boys and girls who came in it’s their first day too, you wanna wave to mummy and daddy or give them a hug.”

Molly turned to face you both and gave a massive wave “love you mummy love you daddy, daddy remember you, me and mummy have to be brave”.

You and mav were cuddled into each other and we’re both crying and thought what a clever grown up little girl they had.

After dropping Molly off at school you and mav heads to the hanger and mav begins working on the plane.

You can sense mav is scared she walks over and wraps arms round his waist and places chin or his shoulder.

“Hey will you stop worrying our little girl will be fine, she probably busy playing with her new friends, you wanna go for a fly or we could just cuddle.”

Mav sighs and turns round and places his hands on your waist and smiles.

“I shouldn’t worry our daughter is brave and she probably is having fun, mmmh cuddling you sounds better come on let go to the couch.”

You and mav walk to the couch and mav sits down and pulls you very close into him.

At school Molly is busy running around with her three best Harry, Emily and Ruby

“Tag your it, Emily Ruby run or we’ll get caught” they were all running and having fun.

Back at the hanger mav was stroking your face and smiling leaning in you softly kiss him and wrap arms round his neck and slide to straddle him.

The bell for playtime rings and Harry, Emily Ruby and Molly all head inside as the last class today was art the three of them all sat round a table. Molly was busy drawing a picture of rooster standing next to his plane and she made each other aviators their own picture and she draws a picture of her, y/n and Mav standing holding hands.

After you and mavs little cuddle and kiss checking the clock released it’s time to pick up Molly you gently got off mav’s lap and heads to the car.

Molly was grabbing her lunchbox and stood talking to Harry, Emily and Ruby.

Molly had a massive smile when she saw you and mav. After waving goodbye she ran straight into mav’s arms.

“Hi daddy, missed you had fun at school,

I made three friends Emily, Ruby and Harry.”

As you all walked to the car you smiled and felt relieved Molly’s first day was all right.

Mav glanced at Molly then to you and whispered “she’s not having a boyfriend she’s only 6 way too young.”

You giggled and smacked mav’s arm “oh seriously mav I don’t think it’s like that of course she’s too young think she means a friend who is a boy.”

The arrive at roosters house and Molly gets out of the car waiting for you too and then Molly runs to the door she can’t reach the doorbell.

You lean and ring the doorbell hearing movement and see’s the door open.

Rooster kneels down and scoops Molly up

“Hey Molly how my favourite best friend did school go all right come inside and tell me everything oh forget to tell you Molly they’re a surprise”.

Waiting in the living was hangman, fanboy Harvard, Phoenix, bob excited to hear how Molly’s first day went.

As you and mav walked in, rooster placed Molly down and she ran into the living room and got a loud cheer you automatically burst out laughing.

Rooster looked at you and mav and you all headed through towards the living room and smiling and greeting each other.

After rooster had got everyone drinks and gave Molly a little snack they all sat down and heard Molly talk about how her first day at school went. She then handed everyone the pictures she drawn.

Hangman said “so how many friends have you made moll’s”.

Molly smiled “I’ve made three, Emily Ruby and Harry.”

Hangman playfully nudged rooster

“Pops are you okay with our little Moll’s having a boyfriend all ready.”

Mav rolled his eyes “ I’m fine for Molly to have a friend who is a boy and decides she’s too young to have a boyfriend yet.

It was a lovely afternoon of chatting and giggling and Molly seemed to be enjoying talking to everyone and getting loads of cuddles from Phoenix and hangman, Harvard, bob and fanboy but she was snuggled into rooster’s arms

last week, my darth maul x reader romance fic by the light of the second moon (18+) turned a year old! i wanted to do something to celebrate/mark this milestone - so i’m opening up a q+a of sorts (if anyone is interested!) - my inbox is open to any and all questions about the story/my writing. i'd love to take some time to really talk about it and engage with anything that anyone has to say. i had originally planned to commission some art for this, but time and my anxiety got the better of me and i never got around to doing so. (but i have been saving up some £ to eventually get some commissioned! i'm always looking to engage and work with new artists or hear any artist recs whose commissions are open, especially those who you think would enjoy drawing maul in the rain or my jedi OC! please feel free to let me know).

i wanted to thank every person who has taken the time to read and/or engage with the story. every kudos and comment and reblog and reply means the world to me, your support has made the story what it is and your encouragement has enabled me to not only create works for other characters in star wars fics, but you have given me the confidence to embark on my journey as a novelist. i am so very grateful to those who read it, for those who give me their feedback and love, who take the time to share their reactions.

by the light of the second moon is a very special little story to me, an escapist fantasy that i can indulge in when life gets rough. it is a story that i have poured hours of both smiles and tears into, and i am beyond thrilled that it has resonated so positively with some of my readers. 

it sounds dramatic and cliché, but it really has changed my life. the positive impact of it has been incredible: being so regularly creative has benefited my mental health, my writing has gotten so much better, and of course, the most wonderful of all, the beautiful people that this fic have brought into my life. i've made lifelong friends from this and i feel so very blessed.

Updates and housekeeping

Hello! It’s been a while since I last used this blog properly so I’m not sure how many people following me are still active, but I thought I’d do a quick update anyway.

I took a long break from tumblr for a while, which was definitely the right decision, but as I’ve discovered new hobbies and passions and interests, I found myself missing fandom interactions and that sense of community and just generally having a place to talk about things I like with fellow fans. Therefore, I’ve decided I want to make a proper return to using tumblr. My original plan was to just delete this blog and start anew, but as I was looking back through all my old stuff, I realised I couldn’t just delete it all. I’ve had this blog for well over ten years now and looking at old posts was like looking through a diary (albeit  a very cringe one at times), but I’m sentimental and don’t like the thought of getting rid of something that’s like a time capsule from my angsty teenage years. Not to get soppy on main, but I’ve changed so much as a person in that time and this blog has seen me through so much and so deleting it just felt wrong. 

So, the plan now is to keep this same blog and just rebrand a bit to fit more with my current interests. I’ve deleted some of my really old/cringe posts (god I really did post some absolute shit back then) but apart from that most other stuff will stay. I still love Hannibal and it will always have a place in my heart, but now feels like a good time for a url change to sort of mark the start of a new era or whatever. I love organising and tagging stuff so I’ll be keeping this blog as a place for whatever I’m currently interested in (which now includes stuff like hollow knight, the elder scrolls, and the goblin emperor series) and I’ll keep my sideblog as a place for everything else (memes, shitposts, reblogging cool art etc) and I’ll get round to organising that at some point too. 

Not sure where I’m really going with this but that’s about all I have to say, so if you’ve read this far, thanks! Feel free to drop by and say hi or whatever as I’m always up for new friends.

“I can’t believe I let you talk me into this.”

Mary’s answering smile is cherubic, all sweetness and light, as if she hadn’t had to drag Lily kicking and screaming from the sofa to the wardrobe, from the wardrobe to the Floo, from the Floo to Hogsmeade proper and then along the long walk up to the castle, familiar somehow even in the slowly sinking darkness. “And yet you did, and you’re here now, so let’s stop muttering and enjoy ourselves, shall we?”

Lily casts her gaze up at the imposing oak doors; it’s strange how, even so long after those formative years here, she still feels that twisting of excitement in her stomach—the possibility of this place, the hum of magic in every stone. Table-Mates

James Potter loves weddings, and he's determined to enjoy this one, even if he's attending alone.

Perhaps it wasn’t a cool opinion to have, but James had always thought that weddings were wonderful. In fact, he couldn’t think of a single wedding he’d been to that he hadn’t enjoyed, and by the ripe old age of thirty-one, he’d been to a few. He had very fond memories of his cousin’s big day just a year ago: drinking, dancing, spending time with people he didn’t get to see often enough. There was just always such a good feeling at a wedding, he thought. Everyone was happy and excited for the couple; the love that they shared was always tangible, a warming, positive force that buoyed him.

Okay, yes, he could admit it—he was a soppy romantic.

This wedding was slightly different, but he was determined not to let it ruin his enjoyment of the day. He only knew two people there, and they happened to be a bit busy, given that they were the bride and groom. He had briefly considered just sending an expensive present and making an excuse, but Sirius had talked him around, reminding James of his love of “romance and heart-eyes and all that shite”.

Were you named after anyone?

not my first name but my middle name was from a character from buffy the vampire slayer and i have grown to love it because of that fact given which character it is

Do you have kids?

nope, no plans to either. maybe if the world gets better but i do not want to raise kids in this world

When was the last time you cried?

last night watching grey's anatomy. in my defence im very invested and it's my mums fault

What sports have you played/do you play?

growing up i played rugby and hockey for the school teams, i also casually played netball and football. at my high school we had to pick sports in year 10 and i chose the most active ones bc i was sick and tired of being thrown into the less active sports bc i wasn't as fast or as coordinated and it was awesome

currently, i've always been big into cycling which is hilarious for someone with dyspraxia

Do you use sarcasm?

i'm british, what do you think? (that's a big yes)

First thing you notice about people?

hair. idk why but i just do. i think it's because i can't do faces so i stick to hair, i like seeing the styles and colours. it tells me nothing about them but i'm always interested

Scary movies or happy endings?

happy endings all the way. i'm a sucker for soppy stories that let me cry bc they give me a reason to get my emotions out y'know. and i'm an even bigger fan if it's in my fandoms (which they never are unless it's fanfics)

What are your hobbies?

writing, reading (mostly fanfics), playing a small selection of video games (minecraft, sims 4, assassins creed odyssey), comics, listening to music which is totally a hobby, i'm learning the ukulele again maybe...

What is your eye colour?

bc of how my eyelashes cast shadows, my eyes look like chocolate curls, y'know these things

my eyes are the like one thing i like about myself, i have good eyes

Any talents?

nope. i can't draw, can't sing or play any instrument, i can barely speak my first language, i'm not sporty, i'm good but not exceptional at school, i don't even have good general knowledge, genuinely i have no talents.

which is sad given i used to have most of them. growing up i did everything and was decent. i got school solos, played the guitar and piano, acted in school plays, was on sports teams, top of my class, literally learning multiple languages at once, guess the former gifted kid that turned out to be disabled burnout hit me hard lmao

but fine, i write but i'm mid tier at it AT MOST

Do you have any pets?

i grew up with 4 cats, 3 died, got 2 more, the last of the 4 died, now have those 2 cats and a dog

How tall are you?

somewhere between 5'7" and 6 foot. wish i knew where in that (i think i'm like 5'8"-5'9" but people disagree) but it's safe to say i am taller than average

Favourite subject in school?

maths and science. all science. love it all. i did love english too until i had a bad teacher. oh and art was always fun, especially the construction module where we made physical things (it wasn't a sculpture). and geography. actually i loved most subjects in school

Dream job?

it's so stupid but i'd love to write AND do science research. acting would also be cool but that's so much commitment with little return and i'm not conventionally attractive so there's literally no point and i'd rather have a stable career
