Not sure, if you're still doing the random song for a side analysis, or if you've analyzed this song before, but it's literally the embodiment of Janus, so I just wanted you to know.
Liar – The Arcadian Wild
This song is... wow. WOW. I can see why you think it's the embodiment of Janus, because it has A LOT of him.
There's a lot to say, so I will try to keep it short but oh boy, what a lyric!
I sense there's trouble ahead
It's clear by the signs and warnings
That should tell where all blame is due
So why are they pointing at my head?
All have been led astray
We've all fallen short in some way
Please understand I'm ashamed
And I beg of you, please find your grace
The first lines reminded me of Change, from Janus' playlist: he knew something was going to happen (probably the whole callback/wedding drama), he was the only one reading the signs (i.e. Thomas blatantly lying all the time). And this should be enough to show everyone where the problem truly lies: not in this choice, but in the wrongness of this black/white mentality.
And yet, no one sees this as the problem. They see Janus as the problem, because he's the liar and he lies.
The last lines remind me, again, of his playlist: several times Janus asked for redemption, for help, for grace. The christian references are perfect and fit perfectly here.
'Cause I'm not in a right state of mind
I just wish I had strength to admit it
My stubbornness will put up a fight
But I don't deserve to win it
I'm left in the dark pondering my mistakes
But in the light, I swear I will
Deny it all
Once again, the connection with Change is pretty evident: in that song, Janus was gathering the courage to openly admit his intentions. Here the feeling is the same: he cannot just tell what he's trying to do, because that's not how he works. He's made of lies and metaphors, not open honesty. And his inability to be honest really put up a fight between him and all other Sides!
I also love the last lines, because they gave me this clear image of Janus after SvS, fuming and pondering what he did wrong, why the others didn't understand him, why Thomas took that stupid decision and asking himself if he could've done things better. And he does all of this by himself, because he would never openly admit he had these thoughts. He's a liar, he's Deceit, of course he will deny everything - if someone finds out.
And speaking of this chorus, I love how it changes in the final part, switching from "I" to "we". Another great connection, this time with Villain and with Janus' playlist in general, because I remember how the subject changed the same way to include all Sides in the conversation. And what a better way to include them, if not by stating the truth - namely that they are all stubborn and liars after all?
Last but not least, honorable mention to these lines:
My life's become this grand game of deception
My mind's ignored all my heart's good intentions
Yes, Janus' life is literally one big game of deception, considering he is the one who "does something and hides that he's doing it". And keeping up with all those lies make him look almost heartless, as if he doesn't give a damn and he's just an eeevil villain.
This is what we got, before knowing him a little better. And his playlist was even more adamant about how much Janus truly cares and how good his intentions are.
At the end of the day, he is a good snake boi: he just needs time to show it.
Original song I'm working on! This little recording is rough cause it's only one of the first takes and I've never done layering before but ye! It's a funky little song about a detective and a criminal (which explains the blood pfft) and this is the last chorus!
Lyrics:
Pt 1.
Dirty spaces, blurry faces
Don't let them read between the lines
A knife in hand
A bullet
You killed my love and stole it
You're not mine
So it's fine
It's fine
It's fine
Pt. 2
I know I'm messed up baby, don't let them come and take me
I need you here with me, just leave this place and keep track of the time
I have a feeling that beneath the little halo on your noble head
There lies a thought or two the devil might be interested to know
You're like the finish of a novel that I'll finally have to take to bed
You fascinate me so
can i say something. for years i thought the joke of the song short skirt/long jacket by cake was that he wanted a woman who was hung like a horse. like i thought when he says jacket it was a last-second fakeout because he very obviously meant to say cock. and the rest of the things in the song were just her personality and interests. which were secondary to her awesome penis
Louise never heard about puppy love, cause they don't know that term in France 💔
