I personally can't imagine someone normal dating Shiki nor can I imagine someone from Tokyo, although I did wonder if she would date Todo because I can't imagine someone calm or sane dating Shiki.

do you think the clans could domesticate/keep animals? Not as pets, but, like, raising tadpoles or fish in secluded little ponds.

They absolutely can, in my side projects I even tried to work out which animals would be possibilities for some of my fanclans.

A really good place to start thinking about this topic is this famous video by CGP Grey, which provides brief yet thorough insight to why humans have domesticated the animals they currently have; but then you need to apply the logic on a cat-scale.

Something VERY easy to overlook is that humans domesticated most of these animals after inventing agriculture, when we had spare food waste laying around. If your clan has a long-standing history with gardening herbs, you can justify the transition to agriculture with your little carnivores.

Here's some easy animals that canon-compliant warriors could keep without much difficulty.

CW: It's mostly bugs!

Meal worms (Tenebrio molitor)

Easy to find all over the place, having been introduced to nearly every continent. Keeping them is as easy as having a big hole and a spare guy to make sure a bird doesn't eat everything. They're easily fed with all kinds of foraged foods, like apples, grains, berries, and they grow up fast.

Biggest problem with them is that the adults could escape, because mealworm beetles can fly. This is as easy as making sure they're well-fed and don't have a reason to leave.

2. Goldfish (Carassius auratus) and koi (Cyprinus rubrofuscus)

These things are surprisingly hard to breed in tanks, but raising these things outside is as simple as having a pond with an established ecosystem. You would not BELIEVE how invasive these two species are, ESPECIALLY koi. On that note-- goldfish are actually better for eating than koi, they were initially bred as food fish, where koi where first bred with aesthetic in mind.

Warriors can also eat roe, and it can be cured over time to make a delicacy. Aquaculture in general is also something that would be very likely for a RiverClan-like clan to adopt; it's an 'easy' way to keep fish alive until it's time to actually eat them.

Easy = You have cats willing to dig out a big project

3. Maggots (Various brachycera species)

Cats can't eat every part of a meal, and there will always be food waste. Collecting maggots from the crowfood pile is a viable option, so long as the prey being used as compost wasn't sick or poisoned.

It's also highly likely, as maggots also have a... gruesome use in medicine that I won't get into here. They also make excellent bait for fishing, and could be used to feed mice, or lure birds.

Why not mice?

Because they will run away, or chew through most natural materials. You need a lot more than a simple hole to keep mice contained; does your clan have access to big, plastic or metal human buckets? Maybe some simple stone-masonry?

If not, you're going to dig a hole and they're going to dig right out. You're also going to need lots of buckets and stone enclosures to breed enough mice to keep your clan well fed, and hopefully they're protected from rain else your livestock will drown.

Frogs?

Obligate carnivores! More trouble than it's worth to feed them, when you can just feed yourself with those bugs instead. Unless you wanted to sacrifice one of your mouse enclosures for some frogs?

It would be understandable as a nicety, if frogs were a delicacy of sorts. But mice are sooo much easier to feed, and can turn food a warrior can't eat (fruit, grains) into food they can (meat).

Ruby Rose has a thing for mysterious black haired women with yellow eyes and a dark past who have a soft spot for her. Blake and Cinder fit this description well enough for Ruby, and she doesn’t know what to do about her double crush— that may or may not be reciprocated!

Ruby sighed as she doodled into her notebook, dark hair and amber eyes seemed to haunt her on each page, each pair of eyes belonging to one of two girls that she couldnt seem to get off her mind no matter how hard she tried. Every careful pen stroke seemed to only bring out the features of the two girls she saw until she growled in frustration and slammed her notebook shut. “Gaaah!” 

Weiss rolled her eyes and quietly closed her own book. “You know you’re supposed to be studying, right?” 

“I know, I know, and I’m trying. I just have… other things on my mind.” 

“Like Cinder and Blake?” 

A blush lit up Ruby’s face. “What? N-no, of course not.” 

“I could see your doodles,” Weiss said in a matter of fact tone. “Look, if you cant focus on our lessons-” 

“I can focus!” Ruby opened up her notebook again and frantically started flipping through the pages. “We uh… we were talking about the Great War and how Atlas-” 

“That was last week.” 

“O-oh, then… it was about ursa migration habits-” 

“Three days ago.” 

Ruby sighed and slumped in her seat. “Oh…” 

Weiss sighed and shook her head. “Dust, Ruby. We were talking about the known history of dust and it’s uses outside of combat.” 

“R-right…” 

“But since you’re having a hard time focusing, then maybe we should call off our study session-” 

“No, we cant just give up because of one misfocused thought!” Ruby paused as she realized she was halfway over the table and slowly sat back down in her chair. “I-I mean, I like our study sessions and its the only way I’ve been able to keep up with class work.” 

“And these sessions are pointless if you cant focus.” Weiss started to pack her books away. “You havent been able to focus for weeks, Ruby. And clearly, these study sessions arent helping your grades anymore than just throwing you into class and expecting you to not fall asleep.” 

“But Weiss-” 

“Talk to them, please. For the sake of your grades, talk to Blake and Cinder about how you feel.” Weiss sighed and looked over to Pyrrha who was talking to the rest of her team. “Trust me on this one, you cant let your feelings get in the way of your grades. So if you cant move past them, then go with them and try to get things back on track. If all you’re going to do is draw them in your notebook, then what’s the point of trying to study?” 

Ruby watched Weiss walk off and slumped against the table. Her partner had a point, if she couldnt keep her head straight when studying, then why bother wasting time with it? She slowly got up and packed her things to head back to the dorm. Her mind was lost in thought as she walked through the hallways of Beacon, still unable to get her thoughts away from Blake and Cinder. 

“Ruby, I was looking for you.” 

Ruby was pulled out of her thoughts by Blake’s voice and her heart started to pound in her chest. Her cheeks started to go red with a blush. “O-oh, Blake. What uh… what did you need?” 

“I was hoping that maybe you’d be free later today to try out that new cafe opening in Vale,” Blake said as she walked up to Ruby. “Cinder and I were talking about it and thought you’d like to join us for tea there.” 

“You and Cinder talking? I thought you hated each other.” 

“No, we uh… we had a bit of a misunderstanding.” Blake’s cheeks warmed with a blush of her own that she hid from Ruby. “But we think we’ve worked things out and figured a few cups of tea might help us clear the air a bit.” 

“Oh, yeah, sure, I’ll be free.” Ruby took out her scroll and started to make note of the cafe date. “And I was hoping I could talk to you-” 

“We can talk at the cafe, alright Ruby?” Blake quickly pulled Ruby into a hug and rushed off. “I’m running a bit late to meet up with Sun. See you around four?” 

“Y-yeah, four works…” Ruby sighed and leaned against the wall with a deep breath. Her heart still raced as she tried to relax. “Who am I kidding, Blake could have her pick of anyone? Why would I think she wants me?” 

“Because you’re kind and frankly her type,” Cinder said as she walked down the halls. “Which reminds me, did she talk to you about the cafe?” 

Ruby nodded and tried to hide her blush once more. “Yeah, she uh… she just told me. I’m still a bit surprised that the two of you want to be in the same room together.” 

“We cleared the air between us and realized we were misunderstanding the whole time.” Cinder smiled a bit and offered a hand to Ruby. “Would you like to join me for a bit? We still have a few hours before the cafe officially opens and I was hoping we could spend a bit of time talking.” 

“Talking about what?” 

“About us. And you and Blake.” 

Ruby practically choked on air. “W-what? I mean… there’s nothing to talk about-” 

“Sure there is. You’re cute, Blake and I like you, and we know you like us. Not like you’ve been able to keep that a secret with the way you glance at us.” 

“I-its not-” 

“And while I’ve made an understanding with Blake, I think its time that you and I both have a real chat.” Cinder gave Ruby a warm smile. “I’d like to get to know you the same way Blake’s gotten to. You’ve been her partner for a year, think you can afford me a few minutes to see what she sees in you?” 

Ruby nodded and took Cinder’s hand. “Y-yeah, I can… I can do that.” 

Cinder grinned and slowly walked with Ruby, her eyes glanced over her. Step one to her plan was a success, and she could only hope the next step would be just as successful during the Vytal Tournament.

im so done with seeing articles about kids and screen time that doesnt mention parent behaviors even once. “kids are always on their phones” so are the parents! which the kids look to for how they should behave! ipad babies didn’t chose to only play on their ipads, thats what their parents gave them!

an anecdotal example: when i was a kid, all my parents would do in their minimal free time was watch tv and then they would be surprised when in my sister and i’s minimal free time we would also only watch tv/play video games. they scolded us for not reading books, but they never read books. they scolded us for not going outside but they never went outside.

“kids are always on their damn phones” my mom is in her 60s and opens up candy crush anytime she’s sitting — it isnt just the kids
