Relax.

You work best when you aren't stressed.

Pour a cup of tea, open the curtains, and play some lofi. Set the mood to something you're comfortable studying in. Don't rush in with stacks of papers and a laptop. Take breaks when you need to.

2. Sleep.

Sleep is such an overlooked part of studying.

For those aged 13-18, you need 8-10 hours of sleep a night.

For those 18 and above, you need 7 or more a night.

Never underestimate the benefits of a good sleep. Not only do you get better health, your academic performance and skills improve too. Take it from me - I retain a lot more information from an 8 hour night comapred to cramming until 3.

3. Me, myself and I.

Learn to say no.

Put yourself first, and learn not to feel guilty when you reject someone's plans.

If you know you have to study, then reschedule your plans to another date. I used to have this problem a lot, which resulted in lots of late night studying.

It's perfectly ok to do something for yourself than for others.

And it's perfectly ok to work on yourself too. Before helping others, help yourself.

Of course, you shouldn't place study over everything, but it's important to filter through all your events and only leave the important ones.
