I saw an interesting post a while back that said “Capcom made us [Miles and Diego/Godot] only have like two(?) interactions because they knew we would be unstoppable with a brother dynamic” and tbh it stuck with me bc it was intriguing.
So yeah that potential brotherhood, but that Godot/Diego AU I made (that I still need a name for)
Also I bet Gregory Edgeworth would have smelled like a bit like coffee, and so Diego just reminds Miles of that comforting presence 😭 (the von Karma estate was a tea household, so he didn’t smell much coffee after DL-6 and didn’t realize how much he missed it/reminded him of his father)

Thinking abt Ace Attorney Social media HCs
Phoenix: Technologically illiterate, doesn’t really know what social media is or how to use it and refuses to learn because the longer he keeps up the bit the funnier it gets
Edgeworth: Doesn’t particularly care for social media, but found out about tumblr through Maya and now has an anonymous Steel Samurai account. His tagging system is meticulous and he has all notifications turned off. He treats it like he does office work. He and Maya are mutuals. Doesn’t have a personal account to speak of
Maya: Runs a semi-popular canon url pink princess and steel samurai fan tumblr. Also has a personal Instagram that’s mostly her eating burgers
Pearl: Didn’t have social media for a long time because of Morgan, but Maya introduced her and she has a very inactive private Instagram. She’s also in charge of the Kurain Village socials, which are very neat and professional
Mia: Was technologically illiterate and died before the social media boom was completely inescapable so nada
Diego: Socials weren’t as big before he fell into a coma and afterwards he doesn’t care too much about his image so he has nothing. HOWEVER, Maya started a twitter called “dead philosopher wisdom” that’s just random Diegoisms. He’s doing NUMBERS on there but is unaware of it because he doesn’t use twitter
Franziska: Knows how social media works because she needs it for her job but doesn’t use it very often. Her account has like 2 posts on it and she mostly uses it to keep track of targets and online paper trails
Kay: Runs an instagram account called “Edgeworth where he shouldn’t be” that’s nothing but silly and embarrassing candids of Edgeworth. Oldbag won’t stop messaging her asking who she is and how she’s getting these pictures
Apollo: Has a twitter with two followers that he uses to retweet and comment on legal academia news. He’s super active on all the law forums and legal advice columns and unfortunately has definitely posted on r/AskALawyer on mutliple occasions. His real claim to fame, though, is the anonymous Instagram he runs for his cat Mikeko. It’s called “The Pawsecutor’s Office” and he dresses up Mikeko like all the prosecutors (Miles Edgepurrth, Clawvier Gavin, Franziska Von Catma, etc) for photoshoots and silly skits. It’s wildly popular and Apollo would die if he were revealed to be behind it
Klavier: Super popular across all platforms and loves being silly online. If Edgeworth saw all the thirst traps he was posting he would prolly have a heart attack
Kristoph: Has a very minimal personal account for professional reasons but his REAL online footprint is the dozens of alternate accounts he uses to cyberstalk people and send his brother hate mail
Athena: Perfectly normal social media user. Has personal accounts that she posts to occasionally with cute photos of what she’s doing. The only person using it correctly
Trucy: Insanely popular on socials for her magic act. Knows how to market herself online better than anyone. She has a smaller personal account where she occasionally posts silly things about the WAA
Blackquill: Ran an edgy anime Tumblr for years before his incarceration and was posting on AO3 a lot. He comes back after his release explaining the break between chapters of his latest fanfiction was due to him being put on death row for seven years and continues posting normally with no mention of his prison sentence ever again. When he finally posts another AMV it’s a joyous day indeed

As y'all know, I'm in my college finals era rn (so iconic). But after that I plan on writing like CRAZY. I was indecisive on what I should write and post next...so why not leave that up to y'all!
So, to the question at hand...
Of course, I should elaborate on what these all are, and I will!
Franmaya Fake Dating
Franziska has to go to her cousin's wedding, and in a heat of the moment, she blurts out that she's dating Maya. Now, Franziska and Maya have to pretend to be dating
Bratfeen Secret Admirer
Much to the dismay of Diego and Mia, Feenie has a secret admirer. They find out who the secret admirer is, and it's...Bratworth???
Klapollo Musical
Magatama shenanigans! Apollo is under the effect of the love Magatama, a magatama that tenfolds his love for Klavier and makes him constantly sing about it. Trucy and Klavier have to take him to Kurain Village to break this spell on him.
Narumitsu Phoenix Whump
Phoenix is in a coma, and Miles learns about it. To fulfill his promise they made as kids, Miles stays by Phoenix's side.
Those are the fics! Have fun choosing which ones Ill write!

Ace attorney characters ranked based on how well I think they dance
Phoenix Wright: 6/10 he’s nothing to write home about but he took a musical theater class or two in college so he can keep a beat at least.
Mia Fey: 6/10 no real interest in dancing but she's not bad or anything. could keep up with Diego well enough
Apollo Justice: 4/10 he wouldn’t suck so bad if he could just loosen up.
Athena Cykes: 9/10 very fit. does cardio. has taken some dance classes for fun.
Maya Fey: 8/10 what she lacks in skill she makes up for in spirit
Pearl Fey: 6/10 has the physical abilities to dance but not the confidence. also has very little reference for how she could be dancing
Trucy Wright: 8/10 performer with good dexterity for sleight of hand. Music isn’t really her area of expertise but she does well enough. enjoys playing just dance with Athena
Miles Edgeworth: 3/10 he can do one dance and it’s the Steel Samurai season 4 ending credits dance and he does it flawlessly but nothing else. took ballroom dancing classes with the von Karmas but he wasn’t particularly adept.
Franziska von Karma: 4/10 she found the aforementioned ballroom dancing classes tedious but damn if she wasn’t going to perform in them perfectly. she can’t do anything else and refuses to try
Godot: 7/10 he can do a killer tango
Klavier Gavin: 2/10 despite being an internationally famous rockstar, when performing he usually has a guitar in his hands so he’s never needed to dance. he cannot dance. he doesn’t particularly want this info getting out
Simon Blackquill: 6/10 danced with Athena a fair bit growing up. knows several anime dances
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi: 7/10 i haven't met this guy yet but my friend tells me they think he'd know a fair bit of traditional dances.
Winston Payne: 0/10 or 10/10 no in between. he's either literal garbage or so bad it loops back around to incredible. he had insane disco game in the 70s but now all the rookies laugh at him.
Larry Butz: 8/10 best dancer between him, Phoenix and Miles. he’s gotta be getting his girlfriends somehow
Dick Gumshoe: 5/10 a little too clumsy and can't keep a beat well but bonus points for his enthusiasm
Ema Skye: 1/10 doesn't even try
Kay Faraday: 10/10 incredible dexterity and physical ability. lots of whimsy and spirit.
Sebastian Debeste: 3/10 despite the baton, no real sense of rhythm
Manfred von Karma: 4/10 the one to sign Franziska and Miles up for ballroom dance lessons
Matt Engarde: 2/10 he got the jammin samurai killed so I don’t think he can jam
Dahlia Hawthorne: 8/10 she can boogie. gets down at clubs and parties. arguably the most normal about dancing
Sister Iris: 7/10 had to learn to boogie to properly emulate her sister but she isn’t quite as suited for it and has much less experience
Kristoph Gavin: 1/10 he likes watching but he doesn’t dance at all
Ryunosuke Naruhodo: 10/10 the most beautiful dance of deductions you've ever seen in your life
Susato Mikotoba: 10/10 while she's not particularly skilled with a koto, she learned to dance from the best
Herlock Sholmes: 10/10 THE dancer. THE ONE AND ONLY great detective known for his dance of deductions
Iris Wilson: 10/10 raised by the aforementioned one and only herlock sholmes
Yujin Mikotoba: 10/10 took to tap dancing incredibly well during his time in britain
Kazuma Asogi: 6/10 he's not particularly good but he somehow makes it look cool anyway
Barok Van Zieks: 7/10 used to be much better, before the professor kililngs he actually enjoyed dancing a fair bit. took classes growing up. retained a lot of the muscle memory
Gina Lestrade: 6/10 she doesn't have any training but if she did she'd do fairly well
Tobias Gregson: 2/10 he's the best investigator at scotland yard according to Sholmes, so you can imagine how bad the rest of the yard is at dancing
Maria Gorey: 8/10 she can dance just fine she just has no interest. the one time they got her to dance Herlock had very courteously offered his body up for dissection. "AFTER I'M DEAD, WOMAN!"
Albert Harebrayne: 1/10 he can't. he tries. Barok tried to teach him. he understands the theory! he knows the steps! he can't do it. he can't.

Looks like someone hasn't been the mug target for a long time. Headcanons:
- Morning breakfast. Diego can't see the toast, so Phoenix just put his hand on it. He used to ask permission for this, but Diego has become so used to his lawyer that it is no longer needed. - It's rude to ask women their age. And Diego. - Diego calls Miles a kid and a wonder boy, but don't call that Phoenix. Because Diego remembers the 20-year-old Miles, but he first met Phoenix at the age of 26. - Diego helped Phoenix pass the bar exam after a 7-year hiatus. The vest was a gift to celebrate the return of the badge. Armando wanted Phoenix to look more solid since he was no longer a rookie. Although Diego certainly sees Mia's spiritual heritage in Phoenix, he love Phoenix for entirely different reasons. Diego is still unimpressed with Phoenix's skills as a lawyer. Phoenix impressed him when he - forgot about 6 months of antagonism in court - scolded with the guards, who all the time tried to catch Armando violating the conditions of house arrest and return him to prison - adopted client's daughter - awakened Dad in himself - tolerated Diego all these years

pls tell me more abt ur arospec ace attorney headcanons. my personal fav is lovequeer aro phoenix wright 4 loveless aro miles edgeworth.
Lovequeer Phoenix makes me SO happy!!! AND YESSSS LOVELESS ARO EDGEWORTH!!!!!! Aro4aro Narumitsu is hands down my absolute favorite flavor of the ship!! Oh my goodness!!! ARO4ARO SO TRUE!!!! Two aros absolutely demolishing amatonormativity with their level of trust and devotion to one another <33
Seeing this ask got me so excited to indulge because I'm aro so obviously I love projecting my community's, and my own, labels onto my favorite characters! But AA is something really special because there's very little canon romance which means lots of room for interpretation!!
(So a lot of my headcanons are a result of them just looking like the flags because the arospec community is full of beautifully colored flags I can't help but see everywhere)
Phoenix is recipro to me because any time he's shown romantic interest in someone it's pretty much always been when they hit on him first. Like the idea doesn't even cross his mind until then!! From what I've seen from recipro individuals this is a really common experience which is why it Makes Sense to me! I'm generally open to any and all arospec Phoenix headcanons because they just click with me (for obvious reasons, LOL)
For me, Iris is demiro because her whole story with Phoenix just screams it to me. She probably went in only hoping to get the necklace back from her sister's next victim and then she gets to know him as this kindhearted guy who would do anything for the people he loves and she falls HARD. I don't think they were "dating" the whole time which I'm pretty sure was confirmed by Iris herself but I honest to goodness believe they were lovey dovey in those last weeks or months leading up to Dahlia stepping in! I should also confess I'm a Feenris shipper, haha, so I'm biased on that front. Demiro Iris just means A Lot to me
Maya is aroace lesbian in that she thinks girls are really pretty!! And also in how she kept moving between the aroace and lesbian labels to the point she decided she'd label herself both. This one was mostly inspired by her going "omg that girl was so pretty" to just about every girl she meets which feels very, very sapphic LOL. I hc she's romance indifferent in the sense she doesn't mind dating but it's not something she actively seeks out! Though I think she'd love the meals that come with dinner dates- she's got food on the brain 24/7 after all (just like me for real)
Mia is pan angled aroace, more specifically greypansexual aro! Because she gives me romance repulsed aro vibes at first but her relationship with Diego (and possibly with Lana) would point to her being more romance ambivalent. Pansexual Mia is a headcanon I've had for a looooong time as far back as my first AA hc document while greysexual is a recent development. She's always been aro to me! Aro plant mom <3
Franziska is quiromantic to me. I mean, she's the palette of the platoniromantic flag! This headcanon only came about because of that 4koma comic where Phoenix makes Franziska flustered by telling her Maya's being strong for her because she sees Franziska as a dear friend. I just got the vibes. Also, the colors! I honestly don't think she'd see the appeal of romance with or without the feelings she can't distinguish. She enjoys her independence and I can't see her "settling down" in the slightest
Now, I've bounced around with where I think Edgeworth is on the aromantic spectrum. But I know damn well he belongs there! Lately I've considered Edgeworth being lithro gay, whether he loses feelings upon entering a relationship or doesn't want to act on them in the first place I'm honestly not sure. (Edgeworth is an interesting case for me because I flip flop between him having feelings or being omniaromantic lol) Probably never getting married regardless. Even before the lines about it I had my doubts! I like the idea of him marrying for tax benefits but outside of that.. I can't see him ever entering a traditional marriage let alone traditional romance. It feels out of character for him
There are others but these are by far the most developed ones! Recipro Phoenix and aroace lesbian Maya are my favorites because they feel the most accurate in regards to canon but pan angled aroace Mia is also up there. I'm probably going to post more arospec headcanons as I come up with them because y'all seem to really like them and I like talking about em!!
Thank you so much for asking!

Ace Attorney au where Mia bought a house before her death that's haunted by all the attorneys besides Phoenix. They all died in mysterious ways. Mia bought the house to try and investigate like she did with Redd White.
After her death Phoenix gets the house (technically Maya inherited it but shhhhh he pays for everything) and they realize, uh oh! There's ghost!
Most of the ghosts died within the last 80 or so years (still working on the dates), all of the ghosts haunting died either in or around the house causing it to have a bit or a reputation... One that Phoenix doesn't know about before agreeing to move in.
Each ghost has their own design related to how they died (and I definitely didn't steal any of them from TBHK /s) Most of them I don't have a cause of death for quite yet so if anyone can give me ideas that'd be great! Also as I haven't finished all the games and just going off of characters I've seen people mention. I'm probably forgetting some characters, if there's a prominent attorney character that I left out then let me know! If I don't add them after than I probably have an idea for them/want them to be alive, really don't like the character (unlikely since I'd REALLY have to hate them), or haven't played their game yet or seen enough to know that they're important (e.i. I know Kalvier is important even if I haven't played his game yet). All of the ? Are things that I need ideas for.
Ghost of | death | who they were/what they did | When they died
Edgeworth | strangulation | a bit past his brat era. | Died maybe a year-6 months before Phoenix became an attorney
Mia | blunt object (same as game) | the same as in the game before her death, the only difference is that she was also trying to solve why so many people, specifically attorneys, had died in that house. | 2016
Apollo | Lost blood circulation | Thinking he was fresh out of law school, just absolute terrible luck, fell down the stairs after seeing Kalvier's ghost | died right before his first trial, some time in the early 2000s (all that voice training for nothing....)
Kalvier | ? | Was a rock star (and prosecutor!) In the 70s or 80s. | After coming back from tour Died from a stalker fan breaking into his house (credit to Tumblr user @cursed-edgeworth the idea!)
Blackquill | Electric Chair | Studying under Metis | late 1960s, executed on false murder charges
Franziska Von Karma | blood loss | went looking for Miles after he was reported dead | She fell into the pool after being shot (maybe by the some person who got to her brother? Both times a strange card was found nearby...) A month before Phoenix became a Lawyer. 2016
Godot/Diego | poisoning | The exact same as the game, except instead of going into a coma Diego died. | Defense Attorney | 2013. When Dahlia poisoned him she used a much slower acting poison, over the course of about a week he got progressively more and more sick, his vision became spotty, coughing up blood, etc. By the end of the week he was dead. (Once again credit to Tumblr user @cursed-edgeworth for giving me the idea!)
Athena | ? | Studying law, trying to save Blackquil (like the games, only in the 60s) | Late 1960s- earlier 1970s. Was killed by The Phantom as a final loose end to tie.

Ace Attorney LGBTQ+ headcanons
Mia - always knew she liked women but only after law school did she realise she was bi. I headcanon her and Lana as ending things amicably between them and just naturally drifting apart after law school
Phoenix - extremely closeted bisexual. I headcanon him coming from a less than loving and tolerant home, and so he tried to repress his bisexuality and just be heterosexual. He does not know he is in love with Miles until after TaT
Maya - always knew she was a lesbian, after TaT she and Franziska fall in love
Edgeworth - always knew he was gay. Not closeted but also not out, but a secret third thing where he just never acknowledges any of his feelings
Franziska - realises she is a lesbian from an early age, and she falls for Maya embarrassingly quickly
Godot/Diego Armando - always knew he was bi and dated a lot as a youth. I headcanon him as a hopeless romantic that falls in love easy
Apollo - trans and gay, knew he was both from a young age, but believes he has horrible taste in men
Klavier - only discovered that he was bi when he met Apollo, before that he only dated women. His fans however always thought he was secretly gay
Athena - asexual lesbian in love with Juniper, she always knew she was a lesbian but took longer to realise she was asexual
Blackquill - gay but repressed. I think he went back into the closet when he went to prison out of fear of being 'othered' and is now worried about coming back out
Nahyuta - gay (attracted to men) and non-binary, going by he/they. Always knew that they were non-binary, but he took a little longer, realising he was gay. If he were to date women, then they would still call themself gay
Ema Skye - aroace and has always known
Gumshoe - straight but a fierce ally
(Edit: forgot the detectives)

Honestly. The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Dahlia Hawthorne's demonization actively hurt the narrative.
There are three main antagonists in Bridge to the Turnabout: Godot, Morgan Fey, and Dahlia Hawthorne. Of the three of them, Godot is by far the most sympathetic, so much so that he can't even be called a 'villain', and Dahlia is the least sympathetic. In this post, to see what I mean when I say Dahlia's demonization hurts the narrative, I'll be examining their roles in the narrative.
Let's start with Godot.
One of the themes in at least the OG AA trilogy that I think is often overlooked is the importance of a support system. Isolation, either due to your own choices or due to circumstances, inevitably leads to disaster in this series. Miles Edgeworth, pulled from a downwards trajectory by friends who refused to give up on him; Mia Fey, killed because she went after Redd White alone; Franziska von Karma, whose loving relationship with Edgeworth stops her from sinking to her father's depths; Godot, who went down a self-destructive path because he had no-one to stop him; etc. Arguably, this is most obvious in Bridge to the Turnabout, where the three involved in the murder plan (Misty, Iris, Godot) all isolated themselves to everyone's detriment.
For Godot, this is especially true. Godot is in many ways a dark mirror to Phoenix (like Damon Gant was intended to be for Miles, and Manfred was for Franziska). As the case intended to wrap up a trilogy, a lot of emphasis is put on Phoenix's friends and loved ones in BttT. Phoenix's success during this trial was only possible due to the support of his friends.
By contrast, Godot is achingly alone. He had nobody to greet him when he woke up from his coma, nobody to support him when everything he knew had imploded around him, so in desperation, he clung to a nonsensical mission dedicated to the last person to love him. In flashbacks, we see Diego as a competent lawyer, a mentor figure and dear friend to Mia, driven by a desire to help. But he had no friends to help and support him, so when Mia fell away, so did his entire life. Godot's tragedy isn't that he was a bad person doomed from the start; it's that what he became could've been entirely avoided if he'd had anyone at all to help and support him. Godot's primary narrative function is to reinforce the importance of friends and loved ones.
Now, moving on to Morgan. Morgan Fey, despite being widely hated in the fandom, is actually not a one dimensional villain. You could even make a very compelling argument for her being, to some degree, a sympathetic villain.
Bridge to the Turnabout is the culmination of the series' examination of the Fey family, which started in Reunion, and Turnabout. Since that case, the series has built up the Fey clan to be an old, proud, and exceptionally dysfunctional family. The branch/main family schism is as old as the family itself, and Morgan is far from the first person to grow bitter because of it. Kurain Village is very hierarchical, and has little respect or interest for things that aren't on the top of that hierarchy. Everything in the village is centered around the women of the main family, and the Master in particular.
So it's really not strange to see how being robbed of that position embittered Morgan. As the firstborn child, it was supposed to be hers, but due to something entirely outside of her control (weak spiritual powers), it went to her sister instead. Then that sister vanished, but despite not being there for the village at all, was still the Master. Morgan, for all intents and purposes, ran Kurain Village and the Fey clan for years, and yet, her own daughter, with exceptionally strong spiritual power, had no chance of taking over the family. It really isn't strange that she grew bitter.
That said, Morgan is not simply a victim of circumstance, the way Diego was. Her personality seems to naturally be ambitious and ruthless, and she clearly uses the people around her as pawns to get what she wants. She is, at heart, a thoroughly selfish person.
Even so, that is not the point of her character. Morgan's primary function is worldbuilding of the Fey clan. While no, Morgan would never have been a paragon hero, and would have always been ambitious and selfish, there were still circumstances that drove her to her actions. Morgan is not unique; she is the representation of generations of bitterness caused by the main/branch family system. She is bigger than herself. She never would have been a hero, but the Fey family is what made her a murderer, like generations of branch family members before her.
Dahlia, on the other hand, is just a bad person. No two ways about it.
Dahlia's backstory has all the makings of a tragic one, and yet, at every turn, the game refuses to let you read it as such. Dahlia and Iris were seperated at a young age? Dahlia orchestrated it. Dahlia's mother and father were selfish pieces of trash? Dahlia one-ups them easy. Terry Fawles was 'in a relationship' with her at age 14? She wasn't taken advantage of; she took advantage of him. At multiple points, the game looks you straight in the eye and says "You thought she was a victim of circumstance? Lmao think again." The most blatant of this was probably when 'Iris' tearfully confessed she helped Dahlia because she felt sorry for her, growing up without any love and warmth, whereas Iris had Sister Bikini. Only for it to be revealed that this wasn't Iris, it was Dahlia trying to manipulate Phoenix, and thus, this was almost certainly complete and utter nonsense. If Godot was a victim of circumstance, and Morgan was a mixture of nature and nurture, Dahlia was the bad seed. She has no redeeming qualities, nothing made her become a murderer; she was a born a monster, died a monster, and then, for good measure, was still a monster from the afterlife.
But what does any of that actually. You know. Do? Like, what is the purpose behind her character, other than 'villain'? What does her character say?
Dahlia is not the only black and white monster in the series. Manfred von Karma and Matt Engarde are in the same boat. But both of them had a narrative purpose beyond being fundamentally evil. Manfred von Karma was the prosecutor's system at its worst; a personification of all of Edgeworth's worst parts, and all the bad parts of the justice system as portrayed in Ace Attorney. Matt Engarde was foil to Phoenix; a living challenge to his idea of what a defense attorney should be. The whole point of Engarde was that there was no moral way to defend him; that was his purpose.
Dahlia, though? Maybe I'm just stupid, or too biased in her favor to see it, but I simply do not get what making her be pure evil accomplished, beyond creating a fantastically victim-blaming narrative of CSA.
Dahlia's role in the narrative was, primarily, to be foil for Mia. Dahlia is, in many ways, a strange parallel to Mia. Dahlia, too, is technically part of the Fey clan, but an outsider in many ways, choosing to forgo its traditions in favor of pursuing her own goals. Like Mia, she has a sister, and the two of them are one too many; Iris and Dahlia because Mr. Hawthorne only needed one daughter, and Morgan had no use for either; Mia because two siblings meant that one would inevitably become a branch family member when the other became the Master. But where Dahlia solved her problem by sending Iris away, Mia solved hers by leaving herself. And like Mia, Dahlia is a ghost haunting the narrative beyond the grave. Dahlia is Mia's dark mirror.
But I do not see what being pure evil adds to that. In Von Karma's case, the fact that he's the personification of everything bad with the system meant that being pure evil was pretty much part of the package. Von Karma is more a personification than he ever was a character. And as stated, Engarde being complety indefensable was the point.
But you can make a dark mirror just fine without making them pure evil. Godot proved just that, mirroring Phoenix's saviour complex without ever being unsympathetic. The dark mirror I haven't touched on, Damon Gant to Edgeworth, is actually held back by being mostly pure evil; the few hints we get that he might've been good once upon a time are not sufficient to establish true parallels that would've made his status as Edgeworth's dark mirror actually believable.
The other dark mirrors in the series (Godot for Phoenix, Manfred for Franziska, Gant for Edgeworth) are all warnings. Specifically, they are warnings of what could happen if the character didn't have a support system. Godot's saviour complex went out of control because he had nothing else left, whereas Phoenix's was kept in check by his friends; Franziska's ruthless streak and love of winning was kept in check by Edgeworth's love and support of her; Edgeworth's building corruption was cut short by Phoenix's interference.
But what is the difference between Mia and Dahlia? What stops Mia from becoming like Dahlia? That Dahlia's just fundamentally evil, whereas Mia is not. That's.... deeply unsatisfying.
What else is there? Her mother is an important worldbuilding element of the Fey clan. Is she? Not really. Iris does far more on that front than Dahlia, with Hazakura Temple elaborating on the workings of the Fey clan. But Dahlia herself has little to do with them, worldbuilding wise. Her father reinforces the idea that the Fey family was once powerful, and that Kurain Village is female-centric, but we already knew that. Dahlia herself is largely severed from the Fey clan. Yes, her connection to them allowed her to be the villain beyond death, but that's a means to an end more than anything. Dahlia's actions were not intertwined with the Fey family's history, the way Morgan's were; in fact, they are purposefully disconnected from them. She does not add much to the Fey family worldbuilding.
Dahlia is a good villain on a surface level; she is easy to hate, hard to catch, and satisfying to take down. But beyond that, she's horrifically shallow. Her ties to the themes of the story are flimsy at best, and easily discarded because of her pure evil nature. Sure, she's connected to the Fey family, but what does that matter? Unlike Morgan, whose motivations were driven by that connection, Dahlia's actions would've stayed the fundamentally same if her dad had divorced some rando. She has parallels to Mia, but those parallels say nothing about Mia, beyond the fact that she's a good person, which we already knew. Thematically, what else does she do? What is her purpose?
It's easy to see why the choice was made to make her pure evil: trope subversion. A seemingly sweet, beautiful young woman with all the makings of a tragic backstory is just flat out evil, no ifs or buts about it. It subverts expectations, especially in a series that's given a lot of its antagonists complex motivations. But like, Phoenix murdering a guy would've also subverted expectations. That wouldn't have made it good.
If they'd instead played Dahlia's tragic backstory straight, they would've had a character with much stronger ties to the themes of the series. A girl who became the villain because she had no-one to stop her; a much stronger parallel to Mia, and a much more thematically sound villain.

30 Ace Attorney Headcanons! I'll try to give the Gavin brothers more closure than anyone else.
AND I MAKE HEADCANONS BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN I FOLLOW ALL OF THEM- I might make headcanons that contradict other headcanons that I posted but in this series I just talk about headcanons, it doesn't mean that these are MY personal headcanons, I just want to spread them. Ok? Follow any headcanon you want, and do as your heart desires.
1. Kristoph doesn't have a normal mental state and is a special needs person. But when he was a child, it did not affect his studies so they kept him in a normal class.
2. Kristoph didn't get a death sentence nor a full sentence due to his mental state and him being a special needs person. He only has to serve a total of 7-15 years in prison and then he is released, the court is still debating over wha should his sentence be.
3. If you read my other parts, you'll know that I headcanon that Kristoph and Klavier are half-brothers, so their parents decided to play favorites/favourites with them.
4. And because of headcanon number 3., Kristoph and Klavier were raised differently. After their mother had Klavier, she divorced that man, he took Klavier and the mother took Kristoph.
ENOUGH OF THE GAVIN BROTHERS!
Although a woman named Sara Milbett was revealed to be Miles's biological mother in the musical, I don't trust that.
5. Mia Fey, Miles Edgeworth and Maya Fey are the biological children of Misty Fey and Gregory Edgeworth. Gregory and Miles don't go to the Kura'in village often, and Misty, Mia and Maya didn't leave the Khura'in village often. I'm the Khura'in village, girls have the last name of their mother but Miles couldn't be named Miles Fey since he wasn't gonna be living there, so he took his father's last name.
6. When Simon went to prison in 2020, he was kind of weak so Godot/Diego Armando defended him, stood up for him and fought some other prisoners for him for 1.5-2 years. After that, Simon learned to fight on his own.
7. Kristoph didn't win a single case against Miles Edgeworth, but to learn that someone like Phoenix Wright did? Oh boy...
8. Simon and the REAL Fulbright knew each other but they were not friends. When the phantom killed Fulbright and disguised as him, Simon was a little suspicious about it since the real Fulbright didn't have a lot of time for him to get to know him, but now, in the dark age of the law where Fulbright should be busier, he started hanging out with Simon way more than before.
9. Simon was very sad over hearing about Clay's death, it was like Metis's death all over again.
10. Miles and Franziska have an unbreakable Bond even though they are foster siblings.
11. Manfred didn't care about Franziska, he only cared about academic achievements. And he also didn't allow her to have friends, so Miles was the only one who would hang out with Franziska.
12. Even with the help of his bracelet, Apollo still cannot beat Phoenix at poker.
13. Since all the current alive prosecutors don't have fathers, a big chunk of the prosecutors' building see Miles as their father. These people are: Kay Faraday, Sebastian Debeste, Ema Skye, Simon Blackquill and Klavier Gavin.
14. Apollo has really deep respect for Miles. He respects him more than Phoenix.
15. Maya secretly became a defense attorney over the time skip and her rival is Kay Faraday.
16. Damon Gant is a far relative of Jove Justice.
BACK TO NORMAL HEADCANONS
17. Apollo only pretends to be bad at poker. He is insanely good.
18. Phoenix's eyes glow green when he uses the magatama.
19. Thalassa didn't give her second bracelet to Trucy because Trucy already knew about her talent and didn't need something to make her realise/realize that she is becoming tense.
20. Zak/Shadi, Valant, Jove and Magnifi NEVER won a game of poker against Thalassa.
21. The Gramaryes, Sahdmadhis, Cykes all had a talent in languages. Another headcanon of mine says that Apollo and Nahyuta picked up a total of 16 languages in their lifetime, and Athena speaks like 6-7 languages. Thalassa, Magnifi, Metis and Dhurke did not speak anything less than 6 languages. Fluent in all of them.
22. Magnifi, Thalassa, Apollo, Trucy, Amara, Nahyuta, Rayfa, Phoenix, Metis and Athena all have a talent in drawing. It is inherited.
23. When Franziska was born, she had a twin sister who died at birth alongside her mother. Franziska was the only one to come out alive which is why Manfred forced her to be perfect.
24. Franziska LOVES to dance. She usually practices dancing with her friends. ALL sorts of dancing, hiphop, classic, you name it
25. Phoenix grew up with both parents. Thus, he is the only character to have both his parents in his life.
SOME REALLY FAR FETCHED HEADCANONS:
26. Maya secretly became a lawyer during the time skip and her rival is Kay.
27. In Dual Destinies, the phantom that was convicted wasn't THE phantom. That one was just a phony, the real phantom is still out there somewhere.
28. Kristoph Gavin is actually innocent. He just confessed due to all the pressing.
BACK TO NORMAL HEADCANONS
29. Miles actually cares about Gumshoe. But he has his own strict and slightly harsh way of showing such things such as affection because he should appear as a professional to Gumshoe.
30. The phantom wasn't fully human. He was an experiment, they removed half of his body and put robotic sides to it. Kinda like a cyborg, so his brain functions like a human and a robot. They tried removing all his emotions but couldn't.
HOLY, I REACHED THE 30 TAG LIMIT.
I accidentally saved this as a draft. It should've been posted a few days ago.

So I said this in the tags of my last post, but then I went wacky and doodled up some pages of this other AU idea that stemmed from the idea of that comic I did
In this AU, Miles goes to Diego Armando’s office a few weeks after the Fawles trial. There is no cocky, arrogant, or smug air about him like there was during the trial and instead he seems really shaken and nervous. Diego’s like “hey what’s wrong?” And Miles is quiet but then says that he needs help. He tells Diego that he can’t get the image of Fawles’s suicide out of his head and that he has no one he can talk to about this. Diego asks about Miles’s mentor, but Miles says that there’s absolutely no way he could ever go to his mentor for help with emotional stuff because it would show “weakness” and he also isn’t comfortable with von Karma. To make a long story short (because I’ve thought so much about this), Miles ends up pleading with Diego to protect him from von Karma just in case he goes after him for switching sides to be a defense attorney. He knows that von Karma will see him as weak and a traitor for switching teams after a single case, but Miles can’t be someone he’s not. Diego points out that Miles seems to be trying to be who von Karma wanted him to be. So he asks Miles what he wants to be, and Miles responds by saying he wants to be his dad (just like in my 1985 animatic 😭).
So Miles decides to renounce prosecution. He rips off his cravat and throws it in the garbage in Diego’s office and declares that he’ll become a defense attorney. He also asks Diego is he could be his mentor to help him in both being better at defense law and also just being better with interacting with people.
He joins the Grossberg Law Offices and works alongside Mia and Diego to gather evidence on Dahlia Hawthorne, as he now too believes that she has done terrible things.
After Diego is poisoned, Miles freaks out because people just keep dying or getting hurt around him and it scares him. (Oh…baby boy just wait until Mia dies too-)
He takes the case to defend Phoenix, gets TERRIFIED when Phoenix eats the poison necklace, and then at the end, Phoenix was like “oh wow! You’re a defense attorney now?? Lmao when did that happen??” Bc he had been too busy simping over Dahlia. But Miles tells him that he should still pursue law so that they could work together and also so that Phoenix’s law classes and studying wouldn’t have gone to waste. So Phoenix becomes a lawyer and works with Miles and Mia at the Fey & Co Law Offices until she dies and then it becomes Edgeworth & Co Law Offices because he had been a lawyer for longer.
I like the idea that in this AU, Phoenix and Miles obviously have huge crushes on each other, but these idiots still refuse to acknowledge or admit it <3
Also :((( when Diego wakes up, he still goes on his whole antagonist arc as Godot, and Miles refuses to tell Phoenix the truth about who he is. See, I also like the idea that in this AU, Nick and Miles are still as cagey with their past and truths as they are in normal AA
As you can see, I am perfectly normal !! I think about ace attorney a very normal amount!! 🤭

Miles- 17 years old, Demon (Vampire). One of the golden guards, originally was tasked with getting rid of Phoenix but ends up befriending him. Can only do magic if he drinks Witch blood (he can live without but he’s weaker)
Miles Golden guard uniform:
Tumblr media
Franziska-15 years old, Grimwalker. One of the golden guards, Originally tasked with getting rid of Phoenix but realizes Manfred is evil and ends up helping them. Physically strong but can’t do magic.
Franzika’s golden guard uniform:
Tumblr media
Emperor Von Karma/ Manfred- Unknown age, Human. The emperor of the boiling Isles, “Father” to Franzika and mentor to Miles. Has to eat palisman to keep his curse at bay (the same as in the show).
Diego/Godot- 30 years old, Witch. Head of the abomination coven. Dated Mia, once she dies, he blames Phoenix for her death and tries to kill him (though he makes sure no harm comes to Maya or Pearl)
Plot:
Phoenix is about to be sent to a camp for troubled teens when he sees Mia’s palisman. He follows it and ends up in the boiling Isles, there he meets Mia and Maya and starts to learn magic. Miles and Franzika are set with the task of getting rid of Mia. They attempt multiple times but each time they fail.
-No clue for this part yet-
After a while Miles and Franzika finally capture Mia, Phoenix and Maya try to save her but she is executed by Emperor Von Karma. Miles feels bad about it (especially since Mia was killed right in front of Phoenix) so he goes to talk to Phoenix. (This would be the first time you see his face or hear his name)
-Once again I stuff happens here I just have no clue yet-
.Pearl's mother (Morgen) is arrested and Pearl starts to live with Phoenix and Maya. This is also the time that Phoenix and Maya get Palisman (I haven’t picked one for Maya but Phoenix has a phoenix named Ash).
-man I thought I had more of this plot thought out-
Maya and Franzika get trapped in Manfreds mind. This Is when Franzika learns that she’s a Grimwalker and Maya learns he’s the one who killed her parents and her sister (Mia/Phoenix never mentioned it and just said they died). Meanwhile, Miles figures out that a past version of Franziska killed his dad, Phoenix follows him and comforts him when he finds out. Though soon after Pearl calls him over a walkie-talkie and says that Maya is trapped in Manfreds mind, he runs off to go help her.
After a bit of effort, they manage to get Franziska and Maya out. Franzika starts to have a panic attack but Maya comforts her. Maya catches Phoenix up about what happened and they have a chat about what happened to Mia. Franzika decides to stay with them, saying that it will only be temporary until she figures out what to do. At that moment Phoenix remembers what happened with Miles and runs off to talk to him. He goes back to where they were before and sees a letter (aka the Edgeworth chooses death letter). He goes back home but doesn’t tell anyone else about what happened.
-2 weeks later-
Franziska is still staying with Phoenix,Maya and Pearl. While Phoenix and Maya are trying to shop for food, they run into Miles (like Miles and Phoenix run into each). Miles is panicking since he’s trapped outside in the sunlight (which burns him). Phoenix and Maya take him back to their home, where Miles explains everything he learnt (about being a vampire). The others explain their plan to try and overthrow Manfred before he goes to the human realm.
-Times passes as all of them plan and such-
Phoenix makes sure that Pearls won’t be anywhere near the fight when it’s happening. After that The rest of the kids sneak into the palace and fight Manfred. They managed to beat him but the door was already open so Phoenix had to go before I closed. Miles decided to go with him
That’s all I have so far for this :).
Thank you if you got to the end of this.
Also I’m currently making an attempt to make this into a fan fiction. But that coming out will depend on my motivation which so far hasn’t been good so it might be a while.

uhm. i am interested in the lanamia cowboy au (eyes emoji)
: OO
>: D
under the cut cause its p long djkwhdhwje
lana in this au is a traveling ranger, with her superior being Gregory Edgeworth, a kind but tragic man whos child was kidnapped back in Gregory's lawyer days!
Gregory dispatches lana (and her horse Neil) (she brings ema too but Ema is like. 8 in this au) to the texas town of Rio Fria (cold river in English) because of reports that the town has corrupt officials.
Mia and maya (who is 7) are owners of the town saloon. phoenix works there and lives with the feys : -).
when lana arrives, the town sheriff Damon Gant shows her around, how nice!
anyway, Lana frequents the saloon (bc the owner helps her know all that goes on in the town and... and is also rlly hot) and after she goes a couple of times, the young waiter named Phoenix pulls her aside and explains that the town IS corrupt and everyone knows, but they can't get evidence.
on the other side of town, the vicious town deputy Red gets an order from mayor Von Karma to challenge the new ranger whos been asking a lot of questions to a duel.
Back at the saloon, lana asks why phoenix is telling her all of this and he replies that there's someone in need of saving and he wants to help them by helping lana.
Red arrives and He gets his duel. Lana wins by shooting his right hand.
The town doctor, Marvin Grossberg is good, but too drunk to help most of the time, so Lana is the one who treats his wounds. (Lana usually drops ema off at the saloon while she treats Red) they get closer and Red says his real name is Miles Edgeworth, Gregory's long-lost son! During the time that lana is treating Miles, he breaks down and has Character Development (this Character development is also caused by phoenix's many visits to see miles) .
He explains all of the corruption that he's aware of in the town including the mayor Manfred von Karma (his old guardian) and the sheriff Damon Gant forging evidence in the murder of Mia's ex, Diego Armando because he was going to expose the mayor for election fraud and Damon helped! (manfred offered Damon the sheriff position if he helped)
they continue like this for a few days with lana gathering information and treating miles's gunshot. until one night, Mia bursts in with maya whos sobbing. She explains that ema has been kidnapped at gunpoint by the town's sherrif! (his plan is to get lana to stop her investigation or her sister dies)
lana finds Sherriff gant on the outskirts of town. Lana challenges him to a duel and he agrees bc he has an overinflated ego. lana wins and shoots him just left of his heart. at first he thinks she missed, but she explains that the only reason she didnt shoot him dead is so he can confess to all the wrongdoing hes done. Gant agrees under threat of death and turns in incriminating letters he saved as insurance agaisnt manfred which get manfred convicted too.
its the last day of lanas investigation before she leaves and shes packing up. emas still a little traumatized from being kidnapped but mostly sad shes leaving the town bc she likes it there. Lana explains that they cant stay because her job makes her move around alot, but mia (who is helping lana pack in the next room) overhears this and gets an idea. the town is looking for a new sheriff, and since the mayor was also arrested, Mia has been thinking of running for mayor. Lana thinks its a great idea, but is disappointed she wont see Gregory again. Lana calls gregory to tell him she is staying and he seems quite excited! it turns out, since he found out his son is alive and well (though lanas reports), he wants to retire to rio fria. Mia wins the election, lana is instated as the town sherrif, the saloon is run by phoenix and since miles was just following orders he is allowed to stay deputy. : -) lana and mia then get married : -)

I understand why Diego was blaming Phoenix. What else was he supposed to do? He got out of a hell, and immediately found himself in a new one.
- If he blamed only himself, he would not have survived. - He definitely can't blame Mia for not ask Phoenix for help. She is the victim and his love. - And he can't blame the killer. Mia has already thrown him into a prison. He's not available, so this is useless. - There remains only Phoenix. Well, Diego had a strong antipathy towards him anyway. Even without his involvement in hiding the poison, Phoenix is still a stranger who is in Mia's place and role.
The most common act in his situation is the revenge. But he was deprived of it because the justice prevailed without him. And he woke up alone. I know the game doesn't talk about it, but do you understand that if Mia had told Phoenix and Maya about Diego, the plot wouldn't have happened, right? Ironically, Maya and Phoenix still became his reason to live. He got up in the mornings to hate Phoenix and protect Maya. Was it right? Well, this coping strategy saved his life, so yeah, I guess.
You know, I think Mia and Diego are very similar. I'm sure that Mia was investigating Redd White alone because she was afraid that the tragedy would happen again. She blamed herself for Fawles's death, and she certainly blamed herself for Diego's coma. I think Diego and Mia both prefer to silently suffer alone, be strong and feel guilty about things they have no control over. And they both need retribution. Mia chased the people who ruined her life until her death. Diego, on the other hand, did not have the opportunity to imprison his enemies legally, so his pain became destructive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Important detail. 1) Diego is a self-confident person and believes that he could protect Mia. He projects it onto Phoenix. But does it make sense? Does he think Phoenix is cool like him? No. Does he think everyone should be cool? No, in the game, he said many times that a person makes mistakes and this is normal. It looks like a cover, not a real projection. For example, when Phoenix accused Luke Atmey (case about the stolen urn) that he hid the DeMasque's calling card from the police and did not seek help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) Diego after the coma is really self-confident or..? Diego is not focusing on Mia's death in this dialogue. And not even on a revenge. He says Phoenix didn't care. That was what angry him the most. Phoenix looked happy while Diego suffere. And more importantly, Diego blamed himself, and believed that in his place it would have been so with everyone (good adequate people), including Phoenix. But he mistaken. I'm pretty sure Diego is clinically depressed, Phoenix is not. And Diego doesn't realize it. Or doesn't want to, I’m sure that his doctors warned him that he falls into the category of risk. Ironically, when he was a defence attorney, he must have encountered a victims of crime who felt irrational guilt, and this must have resented him. Now he's in their place. I don't think Diego can be a defence attorney again, by the way. Survivors victims often become prosecutors, because they want to fight criminals (this happened to Miles too, even his attitude towards defence attorneys has changed). They lack the kindness and faith to protect a potential killer because they have a trauma. And they have a lot more empathy for the victim and their family
Tumblr media
Even Phoenix could not stand this pity party of self-blaming! (skip)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not sure that Phoenix is a more reliable person than you or Maya's mother, but ok.  The fact that you ask for help TWO people for safety is already very good. Who knew they'd screw up? Well, okay, all three of you closed eyes to the opportunity to get more allies, and it's clear why. Diego, Iris and Misty feel guilty. They was afraid to speak directly to Maya (+phoenix in case of iris), and therefore prefered to protect her in secret. They are ready to die for her, but not to talk. They wouldn't even dare to tell Pearl the cruel truth about her mother. Depressed idiots. And one more thing. Maya has never visited Diego in the hospital and doesn't even know he exists. He felt abandoned. He obviously doesn't blame her for this, but I'm not surprised he avoids her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's hard to live without sweet fantasy... Well, realising of mistakes is certainly good, but I would prefer the consent to visit a psychotherapist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Umm, yes, it's easy to do when you see your mentor at every court trial.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeeey, he approved Phoenix as her heir! ...and put him on a pedestal because he hates himself. I find it insanely amusing that Diego's only completed arc wasn't about overcoming his mental injuries, It’s was about his relates to Phoenix. About acceptance of him. This is the most phoenix-centric character in the entire game! After von Karma siblings who always ignore him, it's very flattering... (I love it) Bonus

Send u love and good vibes!!! It’s been awhile, but could u share a little bit about the Mia Ratattorney au? (Might-be-tiny-gt)
I WAS THINKING ABT IT THE OTHER DAY mostly w Trials and Tribulations but especially in BTTT
(Spoilers for the case under the cut)
Both Phoenix and Mia are shocked staring at the photo in Maya’s magazine. The nun in the photo, with that hair and that face, that has to be Dahlia Hawthorne, right? Both of them recognize her very well. How could Phoenix forget the woman who tried to kill him and framed him for murder, and how could Mia forget the woman who took the life of the second bean who meant the world to her?
At the temple, Pearl begins to worry for Maya’s safety during her training. She asks Mia if she could watch Maya for her, stay with her and make sure she’s okay, but Mia tells her not to worry. Maya is strong, she’ll be fine. Besides, Sister Bikini will be watching over Maya during the training. Not to mention it’d be too risky for Mia to go: Sister Bikini might see her, and being much smaller than everyone, Mia is more susceptible to the cold compared to everyone else.
Mia soon finds that she’ll regret the decision to not stay with the bean she deemed her sister.
When they see the bridge on fire after the murder of Elise Deauxnim, the first thought for both Phoenix and Mia is Maya’s safety. Mia has no objections to Phoenix running across, even though she knows it’s dangerous but maybe Phoenix will be lucky, he’s known to make the impossible possible.
Unfortunately, that only seems to be in the courtroom. As Phoenix falls, his only thought right now is to protect Mia. His hands against her, he does his best to keep her close to him as he falls into Eagle River, trying not to lose her as his body starts to succumb to the cold, being dragged away by the current.
Mia is mostly fine, thanks to Phoenix. Cold and very shaken up, but she’ll manage. She’s able to stay out of sight from paramedics as they take him to the hospital and hide in his hospital room until he regains consciousness.
When Phoenix wakes up, he’s desperate to leave, to find Pearl, to check on Maya, and more surprisingly— when he sees the news playing on the TV in his room— defend Sister Iris. Sitting next to his pillow, Mia tells him to lay back down and rest. She’s worried too, but Phoenix is in no condition to get them to Hazakura Temple. He needs to rest.
Mia suddenly feels so helpless: Pearl is missing, Maya could be in danger, and Phoenix is in a hospital, unable to go anywhere. The three beans who mean the world to her right now need help, and she can’t do anything. Luckily for her, Miles Edgeworth comes into the room.
After Edgeworth learns that no, Phoenix is not dead, Larry was over exaggerating, Phoenix hands him his magatama, explaining how it works, along with his defense attorney badge to defend Iris. As he’s given it, Edgeworth immediately protests; he’s a prosecutor, not a defense attorney! Besides, he’s trained to be a prosecutor for so long now, how could he ever learn to be a defense attorney in less than a day?
“I can help you,” Mia finds herself saying, revealing herself to the former Demon Prosecutor.
Both Edgeworth and Phoenix are shocked, Edgeworth because this is his first encounter with a borrower, and Phoenix because Mia isn’t one to reveal herself to other people. But in a situation where she feels useless, like she can do nothing, helping Edgeworth be a defense attorney in Phoenix’s place is something she can do to help.
And hopefully, helping to defend Sister Iris means she can also somehow help Pearl and Maya as they learn the truth of what happened that night at Hazakura Temple.
I haven’t exactly thought of the Miles and Mia dynamic yet but I think it’d be very interesting.
I was also thinking abt her and Diego in Turnabout Beginnings but I can talk abt that another day
@might-be-tiny-gt
