Worlds 2022

I’m still emotionally drained after Worlds. I definitely spent more time watching this year and wow, it was absolutely incredible!  Ngl, I REALLY wanted Faker to win and finally have his victorious comeback. At the same time, the underdogs, DRX, earned it. Huge congrats to Deft before retiring. 

Also Keria, poor baby shaking and crying fucking GUTTED ME. Faker putting his hand on his shoulder and consoling him, when no one did that for him back in 2017, I-

On a different note, someone on twitter mentioned how Karma is cursed. Faker picked Karma in 2017, lost and cried. Keria picked Karma, lost and cried. The Karma curse for T1 is real.    Did y’all know Faker & Deft were high school classmates? This was apparently one of the things Deft addressed to Faker during an interview, “All of these players and teams are trying to stop my last dance. Why not in the final don't we have a dance together, Faker?“ -The Esports Writer, Twitter If that isn’t some anime plot type-shit, I don’t know what is. 

Faker also addressed Deft in an interview, “We lost the series this time, we had a lot of inadequacies that we need to reflect on. It’s a pity. I hope everyone can witness our growth next time. This time Deft won his first Worlds championship, he’s extremely qualified to win this trophy, I congratulate him.”

I hope T1 doesn’t give up the fight. I’m still waiting for them to win and hoping they’ll do it next year.  How’d your pick ‘ems turn out? 

I feel like my pick ‘ems could’ve gone a lot better but I kinda cucked myself and flipped the coin for the first group stage for shits and giggles and yea. :^)   Got every single tiffany & co drop and a WHOLE bunch of icons. Super excited for Worlds 2023 ♥

Play without regrets (Faker x reader)

Note: this was inspired from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam

Faker x reader

feat. T1 Coaches, Oner, Keria, Zeus, Gumayusi and the heads

You broke down in disappointment when your team lost to DRX, with Keria broke down in tears while Zeus wiping his tears as Faker doing his best to comfort his teammates, you also doing your best to make this team with full of synergy as a player development coach.

You walked over to the stage along with Bengi, Moment, Sky, CEO Joe and the rest of the team to helped them to pack things up before going back to stage. Zeus walked over to you for a tight hug "Wooje-ah it's okay, you will bounce back next year, okay", he nodded as he cried, we walked over to Guma and Oner and I asked "you guys alright?"

They nodded as I helped them to pack their things before goi g back to the team room, with them patting on my shoulders telling me to catch them up later before going back to hotel and flight back to Korea.

As we make it to the team room to cleared it up with all of them left but Faker was the last person to pack his bags before going back to hotel "hey Sang-oppa"

"Oh hey, are you okay?" Faker asked, with his sad smile on his face.

"yeah, let me help you up" you walked over to him and putting all of his stuff on his bag "you know it was thinking about this whole thing, can't help it but I feel sad"

As i zipped his backpack "I can't believe we lost", I stopped when he said those words, I remember him telling everyone to play without regrets. When I looked at him "every skill can't be a hit"

Sang-hyeok sighed and I continued "Remember you said you will play without a regret, it doesn't mean you have to stop playing"

He somewhat agreed that losing doesn't mean that giving up on playing won't be the best option but to play better.

I walked over to him "I'm really sorry I haven't catch up with you and the boys, things just going with the draft-" he cut off "hey the whole reason why we chose you is because you're the hope that me and teammates synergy brought up to be better and..."

He became silent about the other reason, which I added "getting to know me better"

"And I learned everything that I need to know" he admitted the way that he wanted to get to know me or way better to spend more time with me, with my response when I looked up to him for a second and pressing my lips against his, which he responded it back deeply and we pulled away.

Sanghyeok pressing his forehead against mine "thank you y/n-coachnim"

"you can call me that when we're working" I said with a chuckle.

"how about I can call you jagiya" he suggested, which lowkeying of him asking me to be his girlfriend.

"I thought you never asked" I responded as I kissed him again for seconds "but you can call me that outside of work"

The team returned with his teammates's jaws dropped a little "uhm did we interrupt a moment?" Bengi asked.

"uhm guys I-" Faker asked them with nervousness but Gumayusi cutting it off "don't worry hyung, we won't tell them"

We both slowly nodded as we carry our bags with us walked off with holding hands.

Well he was aiming to do better next year, but also already won my heart first.

Summary:

Someone's 'best' didn't have to win every time. But Keria's 'best,' at the least should have amounted to something. That was the reason they had dubbed him the “genius monster,” in interviews, the reason he had caught the attention of T1 in the first place. In front of the computer after a solo queue grind and after his tenth loss of the night, Keria wondered what his 'best' was supposed to look like, what it was supposed to feel like. Then that night, he tells himself, if he doesn't win, it isn't his best and maybe if he isn't grinding harder, he isn't doing his best at all.

Notes:

This is just a hurt/comfort angsty multi chapter piece I felt like writing after worlds. I just felt like exploring the psychology of athletes, the breakdown of their psyche and the subsequent recovery that follows.

For me as long as you guys put up a good fight and didn't lose easily, it is good enough. (Well, the call to rush inhibiter was bad)

Really want to go in there and give you guys a hug (specially Faker and Keria). Upload you guys' happy pictures to remind that is how life should be, up and down, win and lose, good and bad days. So, take a rest and be back. Life is still ahead. You guys still have a long journey to look forward. And remember, a winner is the one who gets up everytime they are knocked down.
