Israel's pr team is painfully stupid and really verifies what unchecked propaganda and racism does to the general intelligence & common sense after 3-4 generations have passed.
If you haven't heard about the English copy-paste death threat letters sent to members of the SK government (yes, English, not Hangul) and the follow up fake terrorist attack video to simulate Seoul getting fucked on Christmas posted to the Israel-SK embassy website- you need to go look into it because
And I am fully not kidding when I say it
South Korea's government majority would still be on board with the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian nation because they'd just be aggressively lied too or not given the full picture by the US intelligence partnership
Now the US is trying to act like that one pathetic girl we all knew in high-school who'd speak on behalf of the popular bully (Israel) to the patient but getting more and more pissed off yet popular nerd (SK)
If the US and Israel had funded good education systems instead of propaganda machine based educations, both governing bodies would know not to fuck around with the 1 nation who has a lot of very fresh & still healing wounds when it comes to occupations. Doubly on fucking Christmas
It's safe to say that when the time comes, SK will be a key player in dismantling the governing body of Israel after these last 2 horrible pr moves.
And, as a USnetizen, I hope Knetizens really join the global calls to boycott companies in support of Israel because both pr moves are gaslighting & manipulative af. I hate the fact my government's bs partially lead to all that fake terrorist attack footage shit on Christmas and the best way to punish my government is making the rich who puppet them cry.

this has been sitting in my drafts as a response to some ideas that were circulating online a week or two ago due to that bang sihyuk interview, and it's clumsily worded but i still feel like it's a valid take so i'm just posting anyway. i'm not a music professional or connected to the industry, so if i'm far wrong just ignore this random post. i just get frustrated that for all the talk of strategy etc. everyone seems to act like bts (and by extension jk) are an established *western* act while either still promoting like a kpop act in sk schedule-wise or like a beyonce/tswift level act (which ... yeah duh) with vast u.s. name recognition (not so much) - and then wondering what's not clicking
idk about this "crisis" but i know one thing has struck me about the kpop and sk press and kpop stans in general
i touched on it back when i was talking in my tags about like crazy getting traction in the us
and what i meant was that those involved in kpop are too blinded by the industry cycle and too used to that cycle's accelerated evaluation by stans and press alike
like no one in the us who is not already a fan is waiting on the day of release to listen stream and buy. it is NOT like sk with weekly shows, several comebacks per year, etc etc
and most especially it's not this thing of: create song, choreo, mv, do a spate of music shows, see what hits if anything, maybe leverage concert dates if it does - but if not then done! next concept! move on and keep it moving - got to fill those music shows and if you don't constantly have new pieces to show you could lose attention and traction
but the general public in the u.s. is NOT socialized to all tune in to check out what's new at a certain time each week or whatever
only some check the charts and even that is mostly just to see where their personal fave is
what gp recognition goes by is repetition (that's one reason why radio is weighted so heavily in ratings- not fairly, but it's true): have we heard a song before? was it in the car on the way? was it in the club? was it in the music in the background at a store, at a party, on a friend's playlist?
when americans say they heard a song "everywhere" it means literally you could not escape it - and for that kind of feeling or environment to exist, it has to happen over *t i m e*
true, yes, sometimes a song takes off and gallops out of control like a wildfire catching but that is the exception not something that can be planned for or marketed into existence
and once you are a big enough name and have enough fans (us population @ 330 million so ... a lot more fans than it take to equal the same percentage of sales in sk ... so only a sliver of a percentage of that can mean a #1 bb hot 100) you CAN get that immediate-drop chart push
but most of the time, u.s. artists need to build up name recognition with the folks who wouldn't know a music chart if it popped up in their excel spreadsheets. that's why you get youtube reactors or even music business professionals months after release going oh i didn't know they even had an album/track/mv out
the larger a group, the longer it takes for things to disseminate past the early adopters and the media who watch them and the industry (nobody wants to be left behind, so journalists/talking heads are always like pets when you walk into the kitchen: heads on swivels in case it turns out relevant, and will write things just to be on top of a possible trend)
and this is where, i think, after watching hybe and its american arm try their push on jk, the kpop focalists are veering astray in their plans and projections: not seeing immediate huge success (or not *sustained* huge success) they think there is some kind of crisis rather than understanding that a u.s. or even just western gp fandom cannot be a top-down thing - it will take time
bts are huge (and yes a triumph for bts IS NOT and SHOULD not be lumped in as "a win" for kpop in general as has been pointed out is too often the case) but in the first days of jk's album release, *2 months* after seven had debuted, the huge nationwide retailer where i work couldn't even get his name spelled correctly in the point-of-sale database, so
the u.s. music industry is a big machine and busy on its own, many listeners only stay in their own bubbles and don't pay attention to anything outside that, because just keeping up with the output of one scene or genre can take as much effort as watching the kpop industry as a whole
to break wide you need to be either insanely ubiquitous and not just on social media (which runs the risk of people getting sick of you just as fast) or you need the slower groundswell of people going from "oh *that's* them? i heard of them but i didn't know that was their song" to "omg that's my song!! turn it up!"
there's just too much out there today to catch people's attention and the media cycle turns ever faster - used to, a song could be out and getting steady radio play and it still wouldn't hit the consciousness of the national public for like 3 or 4 months sometimes. sometimes it could take a year or more.
so this thing of short promotion periods for kpop acts - even bts! - is just not viable as a way to attract a wide gp following in the states. being on late night tv shows is a good step, but since the advent of streaming the influence of shows like that has waned considerably since the days of ed sullivan or johnny carson.
jk's run of promoting *was* the right kind of thing to do in fact - it simply should have been much more spread out over time. you can see all his album collab artists have things coming out *now* ... and there's no way to really take advantage of that with the curtailed promo.
and yes, obviously jk did get probably the second longest promo period of all of bts chapter 2 solos efforts (i think yg's tour ran longer?) and it was cut off for very valid reason! but!
i think bangpd et al. taking the fact that they couldn't make jk a household name in the u.s. nor nab him a grammy nom (nor any other kpop groups) within the 5-6 months of their fairly blatant push for us recognition as indicating a "crisis" is just not looking at the long game.
they didn't get all the accolades right away, so it seems they've decided 'that didn't work we need to make some big changes' instead of continuing what they'd been doing in support of the artists
it's this attitude of welp they didn't give us a grammy we were entitled to even though it's the first time we played ball in this particular way, so now we're worried bc we don't know how to shop kpop beyond people who aren't primed for it
like, they are looking at the business of it, and likely accurately, but not at the audience itself
it's not that the observations bang is making are wrong i just think he is basing them off premature information - songs in the u.s. DO benefit from purchase power, but they ALSO rely a lot on word of mouth. not for charts positions necessarily, but for longterm growth, support, and more importantly demand, you cannot beat a fandom that grows on its own.
the paid promotions at the end of the day serve the same purpose as bts's early days vlogs in the current western music climate - getting the artist and songs in front of as many eyes and ears as possible. but then you have to allow time for that wave to spread - and the bigger the pond, the more time it may take

Jikooks love for their Hobi Hyung: saying goodbye to their protector and bestie 😭
Tumblr media
Hobi came live today, as promised, before he enrolls for his MS.
He came to say his goodbye to ARMY 😢
Jimin commented on Hobi's live and dropped off some love
Tumblr media
And Hobi tells us how Jungkook rearranged his schedule so he could be back in SK to say his goodbyes and see Hobi off for his MS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He raised him well 🥰
Tumblr media
Being the good president of the Jikook supporters club that he is, he couldn't leave us without telling us how when he and Tae went to JK's, JK was singing Jimin's songs 🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We know how much JK loves to sing Jimin's songs
Tumblr media
Hobi is such a sweetheart, I wish for him to stay safe and well during his time in MS and to never lose his sunshine ☀️

Here to tell the whole world to stop living through some rom-com style, heteronormative fantasy of Jikook. Last night’s live seems to be such a big deal for so many of you and I am here like, buddy?? You all really thought ,one fine day, JK would wake up and be like, my ring finger has JM on it, as in JIMIN??? If they are in fact a couple, there’s simply no way they will come out any time soon, if at all. Jk is 25, he’s very successful, but he’s still very young with at least two decades of career ahead. JM is just 27, known as the idol’s idol, pretty much acknowledged as a role model for the idol space. They live in Korea, and the current regime is anything but pro LGBTQIA+. As many sus moments as we have seen, they are still in the CLOSET, if they are intact together? They aren’t gonna kiss each other in public and make it official you no? At least not for the foreseeable future.
I can’t emphasise this enough- it may seem all sunshine and rainbows, because we all are wearing tinted glasses, but being queer in a queerphobic country with cameras on you 24*7 isn’t even remotely fun. It’s even harder if you have images to live up to and roles to play. As someone who has been living in Asia, I can promise you, the tables would turn so fast if they even approach the subject. They were just recently Busan expo ambassadors? You know that means practically having supremely close connections with the government? Their families, the communities they are a part of, the group, the company, everyone would have to face such strong repercussions. I am a nobody and my nonhet sexuality is a nightmare to navigate. I have lost friends and families over it. Imagine doing that while being hella popular?
Just wish them happiness and move on. If they are together, they are. We have no control over it, only over the narrative. Please just please don’t expect a mega coming of age film. It’s embarrassing. We have no right to be hurt because he said what he said. Either it is the truth or he’s trying to protect something. Either ways, respect it. Also, they are K-pop artists after all, of course they are very globally renowned, but after all they are K-pop stars. Their narratives, their medium, their stories, we will never have first hand access to. We are seeing them through a tunnel, because we just don’t have access to many things. For instance, JM is so so popular in SK and many other Asian countries and pretty much receives endless love. Like the culture minister of the country says “everyone knows JIMIN”. He isn’t tortured or tired, he’s very loved and he knows it. JK just because first Korean artist to perform at WC, he’s made the country very proud. We see them as these characters in this world, they aren’t. They are full people, with agency. Let them do what they want to. Twitter is vile and bullies playground. But that doesn’t make it a reality. They get hate, and they probs see it. But they also get love and know it.
Meant to post this yesterday. Sorry I'm late anon. Jikook distracted me 🥰

Saw this comment under a message I sent a few days ago. "'What does he do that they don't think a gay man would do? I'm genuinely curious because I don't get it.' Is anon being serious right now ? So according to anon gay men in 2023 sing about loving women and having sex with women everyday ? And according to anon gay men also flirt seriously with women, speak with sexual innuendos to women and try to get the attention of beautiful women on them ? Either anon is blind or anon has never met a gay man in her life." Yes I'm being serious, is this commenter serious? In 2023 the vast majority of queer people globally remain closeted. In 2023 there are queer people who pretend to be straight, who have to pretend to avoid negative repercussions and I can't believe they think that this wouldn't apply to a K-pop idol. Especially one who has the entire world's eyes on him right now and who has not yet completed his mandatory service in a country that upheld its draconian sodomy laws for the military just a couple of weeks ago. What kind of privileged bubble do you have to live in to think closeting is no longer a necessity at all? Because that is what is being suggested here so are they not aware that its not just careers at stake over this? To say something like this seriously this person has to believe that if any of them are gay they would be open about that which I'm sorry is an absolutely insane take. We're going to keep having this conversation over and over again as long as the world is not safe for all queer people to be open about it and people have the nerve to go into queer spaces every day to try to gaslight people into thinking that is no longer the case. LOTS of gay men have sung songs about women, lots of very famous gay men have sung songs about women. Where has commenter seen him flirt "seriously" with anyone????? How are Taekookers called delusional by people who in the same breathe talk about musical performances and mvs like they're reality, and take his flirty banter with fans is "seriously"? Is that what they're talking about??? Commenter, I'm a queer person myself, I know and love lots of others and it is YOU who are blind to the struggles queer people go through every day. Yes even in 2023 and guess what, it will sadly be like that in 2024 and beyond.
Hi anon!
Yes, thank you for this! That comment bothered me to no end. That person has a very biased and factually wrong view of the world. They may think artists are beyond harm due to being queer, bit that is simply not true. Sure artists come out these days, but how many wait until after the peak of their career, how many may still be closeted (anon does not know that)? In a country like SK, where there’s actual laws against queer people.. without even knowing the number, you can bet there’s many people not out.
Just a few facts:
Tumblr media
This is a map of the countries in which being queer is punishable.. in some cases even with the death penalty. The world is bigger than America and Europe, and being artists.. they need to be safe everywhere, because they travel to and through those countries to perform. Jk went to Dubai to perform..
Tumblr media
For some reason I’m unable to post links atm, but the site is mentioned in the bottom here.
Only five countries have equal rights for queer people and non queer people. There’s many many countries in which the equality is barely in sight.
South Korea is not great, this only just happened, and it’s not like men have an option to opt out of military service… so they’re stuck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s only part of the legal consequences queer people have to deal with.. the social aspect of being queer is in many many countries harsh. Queer people everywhere get harassed, attacked, abused, ostracized, just for being queer and loving who they love.
That comment was super ignorant and blatantly diminished all the struggles queer people still have these days. Great that the person posting that comment feels so free.. but it would suit them to open up their thoughts to places where people aren’t that lucky.

You know majority of the armys ( old + new) + genral public sees BTS as brothers ( no fault here , everyone starts the same) so if TK ever decide to come out ( if they are really real in rl) or be in a glass closet then what do you think the reaction of GP will be ? Like everyone thinks BTS are like brothers so tk are also like brothers. TK have to give some really big subtle hints to remove the bros tag so that the GP can start to question some sus moments & will able to see them in a glass closet situation.
Other people have commented before that it's the "bro" culture that lets them be broadly undetected. Like the SK GP are blind to queerness because the understanding of queerness is in it's infancy? I'm no expert on SK though.
This stuff with Han So Hee makes me think the GP aren't ready for people expressing any kind of sexuality let alone queer so... Yeah I couldn't see it going well.
DIPs Seungho and B.Nish came out pre-debut in 2016, I believe. I don't know what the reaction was at that time but I don't know if it's comparable anyway. Ditto Holland. Not taking a thing away from their courage and determination but Taekook would be GLOBAL news. Is that a strength or a weakness? I'm not sure.
Thanks anon. Looking at you is like looking into the sun. 💜

So I've been in many fandoms mostly because I don't stay in one for long, being a Jimin stan is the longest I've been in a fandom ever. But anyway in a lot of English speaking fandoms you'll end up meeting a lot of North Americans because by population there's just so many of them. Of course the fandom subject makes a difference too, but it's something I've noticed. I'm not american by the way. While I've been in fandoms with different fan-makeups (Indians in Bollywood fandoms or Europeans that time I was really into skam, sea countries for kdramas), armys were the first time I felt the true depth and scale of a truly global fandom. However the more time I spent I did notice there were some clusters within as well - a lot of tkkrs were made up of Indians and filos, a lot of jkkrs were made up of latam armys and so on.
When I became a pjm last year though, suddenly I was back in that scenario of a fandom filled with north Americans again. Dont misunderstand, Jimin has a lot of international fans too and I've met plenty of Indians, filos well Asians in general, latams, europeans, Africans and middle eastern folks who solo stan Jimin but proportionally I feel like the number of Americans is higher among pjms than among armys.
Anyway all of this is just my personal experience so it's not scientific in any way but it's just something I felt during my time here
This all makes total sense though. Fandoms being more made up of the demographic where the subject originates. For Jimin his strong holds are definitely LATAM, SK and North America.
All those US appearances and performances really solidified his reach here. Especially SNL and carpool karaoke cause both were super key for him. SNL showed off his performance skills and how he commands the stage while carpool showed of his great personality. Yea, they were almost a year apart, but most people aren’t gonna forget a face or a performer like jimin. Pair both together and you get a charismatic super star. And not all the US fans are just casual (even though I’m positive he has a lot of those) like he gained such a good amount of real stans here who are willing to spend money on him and stream. That’s invaluable. He really lucked out.

OMG i just asked about a real incident which happened. JK literally Apologized for his dating rumors in 2019. And in Kpop, they only Apologize for rumors which are true. Otherwise they won't even pay attention.
Also it's not a far assumption that a huge star- handsome bachelor like him with millions of female followers throwing themselves on him might be having a very high body count by now. It's not just me but You can ask to any kpop stan who's not his y/n assuming the same about him. He's one of the top playboys in kpop according to them. IM NOT MAKING THIS UP AT ALL. Even fads with a title of 'celebrity' gets 1000s of girls to sleep around with them. Just saying the possibility in JK's case is 10x given his status as a global celebrity.
🙄🙄🙄
You know that rumor was false, right? And that chick got outed for trying to be his friend for clout.
And if you were really paying attention, that apology wasn't for a dating rumor. It was to get people to hang onto that, and not that he was caught in an exclusively gay club in Itaewon. Also, covering up pics of him and Jimin that were about to be exposed. That pic that started circulating around again a few months ago after a "friend" posted pics showing them in those outfits.
Why do you think they took that weird break right before Bon Voyage? To keep those two out of the limelight. That was during tattoo girl and Jimin flying from Paris to SK to surprise his man for his bday. You could tell they were forced to be separated from each other because JK didn't leave that man alone for a minute as soon as they got to that cabin in Bon Voyage. Following him around like a lovesick puppy. Then went and got his boo a chunk of snow.

1) if JK is going for a typical idol promo route Jimin did maybe Tae will go and watch his performance. As of now only JM had that idol promo.
2) But I'm almost sure Tae won't be going for an idol promotions method. I dont think he's enthusiastic enough to perform on music shows like Jimin. I think his performance will be mostly studio filmed. And there's no need for JK to go lol
(Guys. Get used to me answering asks from like 50 years ago. I'm random like that. Is how I roll 😎)
Well, obvs JK definitely did not choose the Idol promotions route like Jimin did. I also think while the company wanted him to go international, JK did not mind one bit. Like we have seen in his recent weverse interview, its what he wants. He wants to be massive. Like globally, not just in SK. Mans got big dreams and is currently achieving them. Good for Jikook him 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I also much like u anon think V will go for an Idol promo route like Jimin did. And if JK wants to go support him he should. Jikook have just been something else recently. Not that I cared before what tkk did but atp it don matter. Jikook are being Jikook and if you let tkk affect at this point and time you are beyond help.
As for whether JK will show up for V, it's a big ❓for me. I'm leaning more towards NO, but only tome will tell.
😁

I agree with the other anon about an increase in threats and it being unsafe especially if jikook were the ones to do it because that would drive even more people crazy but I reject the idea that it's a utopian thought to think that them coming out could make huge moves for the lgbtq community in SK. I never said it would be some painless instantaneous thing and people would immediately do a 180 and become textbook supportive allies infact I very specifically said it could be career and social suicide. I'm not ignorant to all the ways it can go wrong or hopelessly naive enough to think nothing will it's just a fact that for there to be a pro lgbtq movement in any society let alone one that sees any success you're gonna have to have people who put themselves on the line that could just be showing support like BTS already do or it could be coming out when society wants you to die quietly in the closet so they can pretend queer people don't exist but I'm not actually advocating for that because it's fully their choice it would just definitely cause a widespread global conversation that can't just be swept under the rug
