sooo I watched the first few episodes of City of Streamer and honestly I’m quite meh about it. The plot is alright and the chemistry between the two leads is fire but it’s not the best and most creative or clever drama I’ve see so far. It feels quite shallow; the set up of the drama does not serve to make a statement it’s merely just to set the mood to make the romance between the two leads more ‘exciting’ and ‘sparks flying everywhere’- 

have you heard that one saying where it’s like; if the introduction does not hit home, then there’s no point in writing the rest? well well, one of the things that really dug at me as soon as the drama opened was Feng Shizhen’s presentation. 

like, immediately when I saw her wide-eyed, half smile coupled with her first costume I went ohh nooo. the bright white qipao gave her an air of innocence and naivety, which did not line up with the ‘smart and experienced mature young woman who is fierce enough to handle manipulative neighbours and two-faced bosses’ narrative the script was feeding us. 

furthermore homegirl is being lined up to be the destruction of a family- as horrible as the family might be, there are children and servants who will be taken down with them, and it would have been better if the costume had acknowledged her moral responsibility in that. it doesn’t suit to try to force a narrative, even if it’s just through presentation, of oh yes she's good and a 100% good from the outset.

So I've tried watching si teng rattan cause of all the dixin binbin memes and I dropped it on ep 4. Si teng is great but everything else sucks ass. Binbin is over acting, the way the scenes are written "you have to keep watching to understand tf is going on", and somehow the scene transitions and logic don't make sense to me? They feel jumpy and disjointed.

Rewatching nirvana in fire cause I don't want to be disappointed lmao

Also I'm thinking about binging Love and Destiny after that, avenuex was pretty generous in her review

Cuccumella - First Run

Come anticipato a tutti i miei follower-neo-napoletani-in-erba, oggi facciamo la prima cuccumella ufficiale.

Ne ho fatta una ieri, ma solo per addomesticare la caffettera, il primo caffè si butta, ovviamente.

Tanto per cominciare, bisogna affrontare la Mami.

Mami: Ma te liev 'a nanz cu' 'stu strumm'l, jeee aggia cucenaaaa, oggi è 'a Vigilie, 'e rutt 'o sasiccie cu' 'stu cafè, jeeee teng che faaaaa!!!!

Io: Mamma, ma io uso il metodo Mortimer.

Una volta gestita la Mami, possiamo iniziare il processo.

La nostra meraviglia si compone di tre parti, il serbatoio dell'acqua, quello per il caffè percolato ed il filtro.

Si parte dall'acqua, rigorosamente minerale Santo Stefano, per restare in tema. Riempire la metà destinata all'acqua fino a poco sotto il foro di uscita del vapore.

Mami: ma comm cazz 'u faje 'stu cafè, 'a machinett va mis unu piezz 'ngopp 'o gas!!

Siccome usiamo il metodo Mortimer, ignoriamo la Mami e riscaldiamo a parte la caldaia dell'acqua, quindi il foro non sarà di alcun uso.

Nel frattempo che l'acqua giunge ad ebollizione, riempiamo il filtro col caffè. Durante il caffè di addomesticatura ho riempito il filtro fino all'orlo, oggi ho preferito metterne un po' meno.

Poco prima del punto di ebollizione togliamo la caldaia dal fuoco, caliamo il filtro, copriamo con l'altra metà eeee HOPLA'! (mi raccomando, esclamare proprio così), compiamo la magia, ovvero rovesciamo la cuccumella.

Adesso non resta che aspettare,

... ed aspettare ...

... tanto, tantissimo tempo, sotto l'occhio severo della Mami, e mo' tu bbiv 'stu cafè.

Ed ecco la nostra meraviglia che versa il liquido magico!

Matematika Allah

Agustus kemarin submit manuscript ke dua venue, satu sbg work in progress di Canada dan satu ke doctoral consortium section di Australia. Dari awal submit sebenernya udah ngotret, kalo keterima yg WIP bakal gimana, yang DC bakal gimana, karena sebenarnya tempatnya dua2nya jauh. Waktu itu ngarep seriusnya ke yg WIP, yang DC cuma sebagai cadangan.. kalaupun keterima, kayaknya mau attend online aja krn funding opportunitiesnya gaada, kalo biaya sendiri, mahal cuy. Gataunya yang WIP direject dan keterimanya di yang DC 😂

Disaat semua udah direncanakan, gaada pikiran juga pengen dateng yang DC, tapi cuma dalam waktu singkat tiba-tiba funding opportunities berdatangan... DANNN bukan cuma 1.. Bingung dongg, eh gmn nich? Apa jangan2 disuruh Allah attend in person??!

Asli itu lama banget nimbang-nimbangnya. Karena kalau udah ngefixin mau berangkat trus fundingnya ga tembus, harus pake biaya sendiri.. yang mana gakeotakan lah mahalnya. Pertama, ga nyiapin budget sama sekali (bahkan ada keinginan buat maen ke aussie dlm waktu deket2 aja engga). Kedua, harga satu trip itu bisa dapet trip ke beberapa negara lain. Ketiga, timelinenya keos banget karena kita bakal pulang indo juga di waktu yg berdekatan dengan tanggal konferensnya. Jadi harus reschedule pesawat segala macem kalo mau jadi ke Aussie. Keempat, harus bikin visa australi dengan posisi kita masih di EU dan akan segera pulang ke Indonesia.

Coba, engga, coba, engga.. bener2 rekor, masuk ke salah satu keputusan paling membingungkan 😂 Karena kalo ngeliat dari segi objektif, asa naon teuing gt DC doang segala jauh2 berangkat ke Aussie, takutnya tuh ini cuma hawa nafsu doang pengen main ke Aussie (meski ga boong dari dulu ak beneran pgn bgt bgt ngajak dehan ke aussie setelah nikah fufu tp sadar diri mahal bgt jd ywd kpn2 saza).

Sampe pas itu saking ga mutusin2, dehan akhirnya udah bolak balik ngeencourage "udah ga papa pake uang abe aja, insyaAllah worth it kalo diniatin buat nyari ilmu di conferencenya, selama buat phd bul insyaAllah uang yg dispent berkah." fufufu tp si gamau ngerepotin ini ttp galau lakhhh.

Trus nanya Allah... Masih tetep ga yakin yakin mau milih yg mana. Akhirnya milih untuk berangkat dgn semua resikonya, dan sambil terus minta sm Allah untuk dibimbing supaya bisa milih pilihan2 yang benar dan dijauhkan dari niat yang tidak baik.

Fast forward, eh qadarullah.. dua2nya beasiswa akomodasi ga ada yang dapet 😂😂

TAPI:

Dehan tiba2 dapet bonus dari pemerintah (2x lipat harga total expense dari tripnya),

Dehan naik gaji!! Dan LPDP jerman jg akhirnya naik living allowancenya (setelah dari awal ga pernah naik wkwkkwkw).

Alhamdulillah satu beasiswa financial aid buat biaya conferencenya tembus.

Disaat yang sama:

Visa keluar bener2 TENG di hari sesuai prediksi di website. Yang mana udah mepet bgt jd akomodasi segala macem udah lebih mahal. BUT IT'S still GRANTED anyway!

Dapet rezeki ngereschedule Qatar jadi berangkat lewat Prague. A bit more effort but worth it krn cuma harus nambah dikiiitt.

Allahuakbar. Jadi nih kita berangkat? 🥺🥺🥺

Aku ngerasa dari Allah tiba-tiba ngeberangkatin kita ke Aussie ini, ada hal besar yang Allah simpan, ada pelajaran2 yang Allah pengen kita pelajari (hal ini nanti bakal jadi aku tulis satu post lain!!). Di post ini aku cuma mau nyeritain bahwa bermatematika dgn Allah itu kdg2 bener2 diluar kemampuan akal jasad..

Meski di tengah2 perjalanan banyak tercepot2nya, banyak deg2annya, banyak YA ALLAH YA ALLAH pas bayar ini itu, tapi kalo udah nanya Allah trus Allah ttp bilang berangkat... ya Allah kasih uangnya, Allah kasih jalannya. Meski uangnya, jalannya ternyata bukan dari jalan yang kita rencanakan dgn kemampuan akal jasad kita.

Alhamdulillah.. Makasih banyak ya Allah. Bersihkan hati kami, mampukan kami membaca petunjuk-petunjuk-Mu, jadikan manusia yang senantiasa berdoa dan berjalan di jalan-Mu ya Allah. Aamiin YRA..
