David grimaces, then winces because it pulls at his bruised face in an uncomfortable way. He turns to look at Race, who swears very loudly.

"Fucking hell, guys," Race says. "I leave you alone for two hours -"

"We're fine," Spot and David say in unison.

Race pinches the bridge of his nose. "I'm divorcing both of you."

"Aw, but baby," Spot says, hauling himself back to his feet by David's elbow, "you love us."

"Yeah," says David, after squawking a bit as Spot pulled him off balance, "you love us."

Race sighs. "God help me, I do."
