Ok hear me out.

Light being all original Kira and Sayu being the second Kira, but without the eyes. And we see both of them trying to idk outdo/ impress each other and on the other hand we see them being siblings. The amount of fun Ryuk would have !!

Also L so focused on Light he completely ignores Sayu and she just keeps on getting away with things. And (this is inspired by a fic I read) Light unknowingly helping Sayu not make mistakes against L.

I think that Rem’s love for Misa isn’t strictly romantic or platonic. I think that Rem is so in love with her that labels being put on that love would never fully be doing Justice to her character. I think that in Rem’s mind there are some things that are concrete constants and one of them is that she loves Misa, no matter how that love is referred to it will always be true. She loves Misa so much that she dies for her. She loves Misa so much that she couldn’t care less if Misa loved her back or not, because as long as Misa is alive and happy, Rem is happy.

Midnight headcanon about Rem and Misa's relationship

I have read several fanfics where they are portrayed as lovers, atleast by Rem's side. 'Rem loves Misa', I have read such lines so many times. And while I agree, I just don't think it's a romantic love.

I haven't read the manga so my knowledge is definitely restricted, but everytime I see a Rem and Misa interaction, I never see them as romantic lovers. To me, its more like the love of a parent, a mother. Misa was very young when her parents died and she was supposed to die soon as well. I think of Rem as the very concerned mother who always looks after her young and naive daughter.

Watching your friend die to save the life of a person who will never get to meet him might have caught her attention to Misa, and seeing her stuck in a same one-sided relationship with Light must have made her worry. What if Misa dies to save him too? She is naturally worried about her and threatens Light to make sure no harns happens to Misa. Like the same way she always stays beside her and take care of her.

All of Rem's protective and loving gestures and words to Misa seems a lot like a mother taking care of her child, loving Misa with her whole being and going to any extent to protect here.

Even if she has to die to make sure Misa stays well.
