Seven of Cups: Adegast Tempting Luz
Upright: Choices, opportunities, wishful thinking, illusion, fantasy, daydreaming, indecision, searching for purpose
Reversed: Confusion, distraction, diversion, overwhelmed, clarity, personal alignment, making a choice
The Seven of Cups is the card of choices and opportunities, but also illusion and wishful thinking. It represents a moment where you're faced with a myriad of different options for the future, each seeming more exciting than the last—though you must be careful what you wish for, because all that glitters is not gold. The Seven of Cups may suggest your expectations for the future aren't grounded in reality, and that you're prone to wishful thinking and unrealistic ideals. This is exactly the situation in which Luz finds herself in Witches Before Wizards: she's followed the pipe-dream adventure Adegast set up for her, playing masterfully into her preconceived notions of being a fantasy protagonist, unknowing that she's being led by illusions straight into a trap.
The Seven of Cups reminds you that while wishing and dreaming are all well and good, there comes a time where you need to let go of your fantasies and face reality. Luz does exactly this by choosing Eda and King over Adegast's puppets, breaking free from the fantasy illusion and saving them both. This is Luz's first step on her journey of deconstructing her fantasy-hero complex and maturing into a more grounded person whose actions are guided not by unrealistic fantasies, but by her personal values and convictions.

Arcanatober Day 23– Mahadi’s Mystical Pack of Potions
Named for the famous rakshasa owner of the Emporium of Wonders, who you might have met if you’ve played the Descent Into Avernus campaign. The actual card for today’s draw was the Seven of Cups– or as it’s called in my deck, the Seven of Skulls. Kind of an appropriate mix, don’t you think?

Daily Reading for 4/25/24
Stack 1
Seven of Cups reversed
There are a lot of paths laid before you right now. Some that you wish to pursue and others that other people want you to follow. Remember, this is your life. Not theirs. Follow the path that calls to you the most, and that aligns with your personal values. You will lose people along the way, but you will gain a whole lot more.
Stack 2
The Hermit reversed
Be honest with yourself. You're not taking time alone to do introspection. You're hiding from things that hurt you. You've put walls up to put distance between yourself and others out of fear. But you're hurting yourself more than you're protecting. You're lonely. You hate being so alone and feeling like no one understands you. But have you really even given them a chance?
Stack 3
Knight of Wands reversed
Slow down and think, please. Not everything needs to be done with lightning speed. In fact, not having any sort of plan before you go into a project or a situation is what's causing things to not work out. There are delays due to not knowing what the next step is. Sit back and look at the situation first. Make a plan for how to execute your wishes and then move forward.

A reading for the week of 4/15/24—4/21/24:
The Seven of Cups is a card of wishful thinking. Sometimes it represents daydreaming and inspiration, but often it represents the desire to reach our goals without actually putting in hard work. The temptation to indulge in a fantasy life in our heads where everything magically works out, rather than doing the hard work to bring about our desired outcome.
The Three of Wands is a very different card. It represents early success, but also the need to keep going, to keep putting in our energy and effort to reach a further goal. Sometimes it speaks to the need to check in with others and get their feedback. Regardless, it is a card that says, keep it up, there's more ahead for you if you keep working.
The Ten of Pentacles represents fulfillment of earthly needs, abundance, and generosity. It always means having enough, but it often means having a little too much, and needing to give back to our community and paying our good fortune forward.
Taken together, I see these cards as saying that the Ten of Pentacles is our goal, and a good, worthy one at that, but that we need to work hard to get there, rather than get caught in magical thinking and laziness.
For what it's worth, when I was shuffling the deck, the Hierophant jumped out onto the floor. The Hierophant often represents scholarship, devoting ourselves to the pursuit of knowledge, teachers, and mentors. It can also mean having to sacrifice some independence and following institutional rules to get what we want. Combined with the Three of Wands, I think it emphasizes the idea of checking in with others about our goals and looking for ways to learn more. Studying under the Hierophant isn't always easy, but it can lead to rich rewards.
Deck is Rider-Waite-Smith.

charlotte's art history tarot - seven of cups
Tumblr media
Art: Still Life with Newspaper and Fruits – Josef Mansfeld
pull this card
info on the suit of cups in general
following on from the six of cups, which was all about nostalgia, the seven can be seen as another manifestation of that kind of a mindset. in line with the six's ideas about innocence, naivety, and childlike wonder, the seven of cups is a card about imagination, fantasy, and dreams. as with most things tarot, this is not necessarily positive or negative, but has elements of both. the seven can indicate wishful thinking that you know deep down is just an illusion you are creating for yourself. however, it can also symbolize your ability to envision what you want and empower you to then make choices and take opportunities that will lead you down that path

The Seven of Cups is about looking toward the future and all that might  be, and about getting lost in our daydreams too much to understand that  there are real issues that need to be handled and the foolishness that  comes from getting lost in our daydreams.
