Maiar headcanons in my verse:

- slit pupils!!! Ainur wear elven/human raiment, but when in Aman their ainurin features still show through. Their ears are also slightly different but barely. And theyre taller than elves.

- Aulë’s Maiar all have the same golden like eyes he has.

- Valarin is still spoken amongst them when there are no Elves around.

- there's a pub in Valimar called The Two Lamps where Maiar like to hang out after work.

- after Mairon left Valinor, the rest of Aulë’s Maiar secretly traded a lot of his stuff amongst each other. Despite the rumours he has betrayed them for Melkor they were still revering his work and a lot of his possessions end up as secret collectibles. (Curumo was especially obsessed with finding secrets on how to become as skilled as Mairon.)

- after Ossë came back from Melkor, many thought that Uinen could do better (Ossë laughs it off bc frankly he agrees)

- everyone knows Tillion has a huge crush on Arien. Everyone knows Arien had a crush on Mairon. No one mentions it though. All Maiar are a little infatuated with Arien too. (I feel them. *dreamy sigh*)

- After an incident involving the accidental creation of a lake and forest in the middle of Valimar, Maiar are no longer allowed at elvish Karaoke nights. (The lake was later removed by Ulmo and Yavanna relocated the small forest in her pastures.) Material damage included the collapse of 2 buildings (Calaimë swore he saw Ossë aiming at the one where Eönwë lives in on purpose.) And a very confused group of Elves wondering why their bar had suddenly vanished.

- Eönwë's daily duties do bring him to Tirion and Valimar every day and is the main delegate between Manwë and Eldarin governments.

I’ve found myself thinking about this text recently, and... it’s just so fascinating. This is the poem “ Namárië” (Farewell, also called Galadriel’s Lament). The poem is from the Lord of the Rings series, by J. R. R. Tolkien, written in Quenya (Elvish, the text above I believe is Tengwar script?). Seriously, how does one mind think of all of this? The text reads, in Quenya and in English, as follows.

Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen, yéni únótimë ve rámar aldaron! Yéni ve lintë yuldar avánier mi oromardi lisse-miruvóreva Andúnë pella, Vardo tellumar nu luini yassen tintilar i eleni ómaryo airetári-lírinen. Sí man i yulma nin enquantuva? Headcanons of Valar and Maiar hierarchy in Imbë verse.

Higher Maiar:

Maiar who are exceptionally powerful and can almost be considered rivalling with the Valar. Unsurprisingly they are associated with Aratar*

*Melian while being formerly affiliated with Vána, is also said to have been kin to Yavanna.

Arien’s affiliation can either be Vána, Estë or Varda depending on tolkien’s lore version. In my verse she is officially affiliated with Varda but also works for Vána.

Olórin is not in this category as his strength lies with his empathy and compassion but he is nonetheless unofficially considered as part of it by many.

A note on Úmaiar:

As for the corrupted beings that Melkor brought from beyond the confines of Arda, little is known.

Valaraukar (Balrogs) were once great spirits of fire, possibly on par with Arien's might.

Many corrupted beings might initially have been lesser Maiar corrupted early on (whether willingly or not is up to debate.)

The case of Ungoliant:

Not much is known of the being clothing herself as a great spider. Her primaeval relation with Unlight tends to indicate she was not from Arda nor Eä but might have come from the endless Void. Loremasters have long speculated if she was indeed a by-product of the Discord during the Music, or if other beings inhabited the Void That Is Without - but without being able to offer evidence against such speculations, none have dared to formulate a concrete hypothesis as of yet.

All it is known is that Ungoliant possesses some inate power that allowed herself to remain cloaked to Manwë's surveillance and was able to pose a serious threat to Melkor himself. Recently, a small group of scientists came forward with the theory that the Great Spider might be the counterbalance of Light itself - as embodied by Eru Ilúvatar Himself, a theory of Matter and Antimatter had followed the paper but had so far only resulted in various escalating arguments amongst academics with some arguing against the Presumption of assuming the existence of another Being equal to Ilúvatar. I'm currently sadly not really into trop!saurondriel anymore (this will come back) but I'm doing a lot of worldbuilding about the Ainur, the whole hierarchy between Valar and Maiar and the missing Vala [redacted ch.8 PYL Spoiler] which is central to my I falmalinnar imbë met Serie - (ironic as it is since I just said I lost my halgal spark) but i wanted to know if you guys would be interested for me to post it? (while waiting for my adhd to circle back to haladriel so I can finish PYL & co)

TEN THOUSANDS. Ok more seriously though, I have All The Fire Bright & Do Not Go Gentle to work on. But I'm thinking A LOT about Istar!Mairon and maybe one day I'll write that fic. And I also have an idea for an Annatar/Celebrimbor one bc yes i also ship silvergifting (not me shipping Mairon with everyone) but it's a sad one and i dont want to write anymore angst rn :)

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

Each time people enjoy my fics it surprises me lmao. I did NOT expect Pour Your Light to get over 200 kudos though, this was mind blowing for me, especially since it's a lot Ainur-centric. I genuinely was floored at the response i got after the epilogue.

21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?

OH BOI. YES. i have this whole part from Uinen's POV for the scene when Galadriel is about to be 'exiled' from Numenor in the show. I love that scene but sadly as i was diverging from the show already I could not use it. I hope I can recycle it in the sequel or something.
