Not great pictures, but here is my new hair color!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn't bleach it beforehand. My poor hair is still recovering from my surgery back in october 2022. Plus, bleach can be so harsh. It's darker than I'm used to (not counting the black, obviously, lol), but I love it! I'm also curious to see how the green/teal color washes out.

I need to know what hair dye you use please!
I've been using Lime Crime Unicorn Hair Full Coverage. The color I currently have is called Sea Witch, and I achieved it by bleaching my hair, adding purple to make the bleached hair less yellow, and then applying the dye and popping on a shower cap and letting it sit for like three or four hours. I don't know how necessary any of these steps are, but they worked pretty well for me. Only issue is, and I haven't had this problem with some of the other Unicorn Hair dyes I've used, my hair bleeds color like crazy. It's not as bad now a month in, but for a while there, when I sweat, the sweat was blue. One night I fell asleep with a pillow on top of my head for maximum light and sound blockage, and when I woke up, my forehead was stained from where my hair had been pressed against it. And it was stained badly. Like scrubbing it hard because I had to go to work in 30 minutes.
Like here’s the side of the pillow I don’t sleep on

And here’s the side I do

Hey there! Wanted to let you know your hair is so pretty! I’ve been wanting to dye my hair that teal color for a while now but am worried cause it’s not the healthiest. Did you bleach yours before dying? And did you get a professional to dye it? Thanks! -Velvet Rose (a witch in need of a new look)
hey!
yes, i do bleach my hair (professionally.) however, after the whole head has been bleached, i just go back every so often to touch up my roots. i'll usually go back as little as i can because the bleach does make my hair have some fly-aways. after the bleaching, i color my hair myself using dye i buy at Sally's Beauty Supply! i'm currently using Lime Crime's Unicorn Hair in the color Sea Witch.
to keep my hair long, i'll put in hair oil in my hair when it's damp after a shower. then on days i know i'm not going out or at least once a week, i'll do a big hair oil mask on the length of my hair while putting it in a protective style (like a low pony or braid). hope this helps! :)

green is the coolest color genuinely but i get the impulse to dye it so IF U MUST do blue bc itll be an easier transition from teal. or maybe you could do a dif shade of green .... green my love
Okay thank you because everyone ik irl says green is IT and i agree but I'm so bored with it ....... right now i only own lime crime's sea witch.. I'm kind of dreaming of a navy/denim blue ....? tbh idk what suits my coloring the best

Life Update #8: 08/21/2019
So, I decided to apply for a job at a donut shop with my mother. I personally don't mind that because
It's with someone I know
I have the same mindset as my mom, and
She's awesome
Plus, I love donuts. The donut place I applied to has no policy on hair color or tattoos, so that's a major bonus since my mother and I are tattooed and mom has dark blue hair. I plan on coloring mine a green color, preferably close to Sea Witch from Lime Crime's Unicorn Hair Dye stuff. So, it seems like things are looking up, but I'll be prepared for the worst. Keeping my fingers crossed for that.

I'd be being nice if I said I was a hot mess... let's be realistic and call it how it is.
Still a piece of garbage ♡

I dyed my hair tonight! It took forever bc I have A LOT of hair and I’d never done it before so I don’t think I used enough dye, but I was super nervous. I’ve had blonde highlights for pretty much the past 25 years. I used lime crime sea witch unicorn hair and my hair is normally pretty wavy but I had to dry it straight so I don’t stain my pillow which sucks bc now I will have hermione poof tomorrow.
Anyway:

hey there! ur hair in ur most recent selfie looks super pretty!! i was just wondering what type of hair dye u use? and also whats ur natural hair colour/do u have to bleach it first for the colour to show up properly? thinking of dying my hair over summer and i definitely need some advice. anyway hope u have a great day!
Hi! I'm so sorry this got buried in my inbox! Let me run through some of the products I use:
Bleach: Color Brilliance Bright White Creme Lightener + Color Brilliance Sensitive Scalp 20 Volume Creme Developer, both by Ion! The lightener has hydrolyzed keratin, chamomile flower extract, and sunflower seed to condition and strengthen, and the developer has wheat germ protein for scalp sensitivity. It lightened my hair seven levels the first time I used it on my natural hair color, and it has completely removed any trace of color every time since I started using unnatural colors! It's never left me with breakage or damage.
Color: I've tried one or two other brands (including Lunar Tides, which unfortunately I did not like at all) but my favorite one that I use the most is Unicorn Hair by Lime Crime. This line is vegan and cruelty-free. It's a deposit-only, vegetable-based dye with no ammonia, peroxide or bleach. I leave the dye on for about 2 hours (no worries, it's not damaging as there are no harsh chemicals!)
They have full coverage line and a tint line and sprays and color-deposit conditioners, etc etc etc. I use the full coverage colors on bleached hair. Here are pictures of Dirty Mermaid (slightly faded), Sea Witch, Pony (slightly faded after several weeks), Chocolate Cherry, half Jello/half Pony (fresh color), and bonus lol--the Bubblegum Rose/Peach ombre-type thing I did on my girlfriend's hair.
Tumblr media
I also strictly use shampoo/conditioner/hair products that DO NOT contain sulfates or parabens, always use color-safe products, use conditioning hair masks about once a week, generally wash my hair about 3 to 4 times per week, and never use heat on my hair. This all helps with both the colors and the curls lol. The dye is designed to fade into nice pastels rather than just the color just falling out, and I've found this to be true for all of the colors I've used so far.
And I think I'm dyeing my hair again today, actually. I'm doing Dirty Mermaid again, but I have some Jello left over so I might try to do the tips in that color, and I'm doing my girlfriend's entire length in just Peach, so I'll update this with pictures of those colors later! This will also be our first time trying the conditioners going forward, since those are new 😊
