Many of you have seen the video but now you know even more. Southampton French restaurant Maison Vivienne is under fire after a video surfaced of its owner trying to call the police on A black woman minding her own business in a park on the Upper West Side. Socialite and restaurateur Svitlana Flom is “the next Amy Cooper” — after a video of Flom dialing 911 went viral. But the Maison Vivienne co-owner told Page Six the video was edited to make her “look like a racist.” Didn’t look that way to me, especially when her husband couldn’t run in the opposite direction. Page Six reported that Janae Garcia posted the clip of her confrontation with Flom in an Upper West Side park Friday, claiming in the caption that Flom “felt the need to not only approach me but call the cops multiple times on me!” Garcia claimed that Flom first reported her to cops for allegedly smoking in public, “but by the 3rd call, it was because I was ‘threatening her & her children.’ ” Garcia added, “While giving my description, she exaggerated her story & made it seem like I was the aggressor. Welcome to Madison Square Park which has existed as a public space since 1686. Named for President James Madison in 1814, Madison Square was formally opened as a public park in 1847. This is what the end of 4 weeks of life craziness looks like. I have been entertaining an out of town guest, working late nights for events for work, cooking up a holiday storm 3 days straight for our house guest. My son threw us a curve on Thursday/Friday by coming home from school with a bout of stomach flu. I was fortunate enough that while taking care of him he passed it along to everyone else in the house house. This is what stomach virus suffers looks like. It’s not nearly as bad as the kids but luckily it’s still early and the worst may be yet to come. I am lethargic, exhausted, have no appetite, a pounding headache, all leading to good times for daddy. Happy Spring vacation from the kiddos. Looking for a hole I can crawl into so I can roll up into a ball and die. Self-care? Moderation? Balanced lifestyle? You must be speaking Ancient Greek since I have no idea what those terms mean. Anyone who knows me well knows I am a Cabernet Franc freak. I love many different wines but I have a huge soft spot for this grape. This is the Beaucanon Estates 2009 Cuvée Louis Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley. It’s delicious! Beaucanon Estate is located in the Oak Knoll AVA in Napa. Louis de Coninck, winemaker, carries on the wine making history of his family. Trained from age 18 in Saint Emilion, he joined his father Jacques in Napa. His wines display finesse, complexity, and structure through his skilled hands of a Bordelaise winemaker. The wines have the elegance and balance of Bordeaux. The Estate farms with sustainable and organic farming practices. Cab Franc is a black-skinned , French variety grown worldwide. It’s most famously known as the 3rd grape of the Bordeaux trinity and is found the world's top Bordeaux blends adding herbaceous notes, hints of tobacco and savory spices. Cab Franc wines are typically light to medium body and tend to exhibit vegetal characteristics like green bell pepper. These vegetal notes cause some to incorrectly identify Cab Franc as unripe Cabernet Sauvignon, or even Carmenère. Cab Franc and Cab Sauvignon have similar characteristics because Cab Franc is a parent of both Cab Sauvignon and Merlot. However, Cab Franc ripens at least a week earlier than has thinner skin and lower acidity. It’s versatile which allows winemakers to hedge their bets to make a well balanced wine in tougher vintages. Cab Franc's primary home is Libournais in Bordeaux and is big in Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, where some of the best wines come from including Cheval Blanc and Ausone.
