Zedaph is an eldritch dragon who tries really hard to look human because he thinks his true form will scare everyone who sees it(even though Tango and Impulse know what he looks like and aren't scared). He's usually great at keeping a human form, but if he catches an eldritch disease, he's forced back into dragon form to fight it. Most diseases Zed can catch can never jump to any other Hermit, but he still hides cause he's self-conscious about his true form.

One day he gets sick and hides in a cave only for Scar to come looking for him in his elf form asking for a cookie test subject. What Scar found instead was a poor, sick dragon he needed to nurse back to health.

Zed is confused cause he's sick and stuck in a cave with an elf who is doting on him and takeing care of him instead of running away in terror.

Scar has seen far scarier things than a dragon in his lifetime. Plus a sick one at that! You only need to see Jellie once you've forgotten her dinner to find most things tame in comparison.

Scar also... Wasn't a bad caretaker. Zed often found himself falling asleep as Scar stroked down his nose. The pressure against his scales is relaxing, the warmth of Scar nestled up against him. He feels bad when he accidentally singes Scar a few times (he can't help sneezing out dragon's breath!) but Scar quickly learns to avoid it.

In fact, by the time Impulse checks on him, Scar is happy to wave the man off. Zed's so cute like this! He'll take care of him any time.

Zed huffs a content sigh. Maybe he can stretch this illness out a little longer before getting back to work.

While attempting to obtain his self-imposed "I Try I Spy!" Zedvancement, Zedaph stumbles across a sight he wasn't meant to. Rather than do the polite thing and leave, he decides to hang around and watch for a bit. It's fine, no one will know. It's not like he's just sitting right there on Scar's tree where he can be caught, after all.

Scar should have listened to the warnings about The Warping Woods. Even though he made it out okay after his first walk, there was nothing stopping the creature from trapping him there after the second, or the third, or any walk after.

This time was different. This time he was chased around distorted woods, through fields of twisted blue mushrooms in a cyan hell forest across an alien landscape with baren purple twigs for trees, and now Scar is lost deep in a forest walking a twisted path where the only sound is this warped and twisted ambient white noise and the only light is the moon.

Zed watched the little elf since the first time he walked into The Warping Woods. Right now he's chasing him through his home, waiting for the elf to trip on an exposed root or get his flowing robes or hair snagged in some branches.

Maybe Zed could warp the wood to make it happen...

Scar's always known the risks but it's the quickest route for trade. Maybe he grew too lenient, but every few trees he'd redo his marks of chalk and he never strayed from the path.

Those chalk markings are nowhere in sight. His robes are grasped tightly in his hands, hitched up as he strides swiftly onwards. He doesn't know how much further he has to go, but he knows if he walks in one direction long enough that he'll find the other side of this forest. He has to.

The heartbeat in his ears isn't enough to block out the sounds of something pursuing. The creaking of trees and scratching of claws. Sometimes Scar swears tree roots moved from where he last saw them. He stumbles over another, his wrist twinging in pain as he pushes against a tree before he falls. The thin branches whip at his wrists as he tries to pull away-

There's something at his back. Warmth, pressed against him as a voice coos in his ear. Fingers brush his usually immaculate hair back behind his ears whilst Scar is frozen in fear.

He thinks his luck might have run out this time.

Oh boy, time to bring back Reef Siren Scar and Eldritch Abyss Monster Zed. Other continental shelf mers think Zed's gonna hurt Scar, and that's not helped by the fact the last time Zed rescued Scar from a human ship, it sank. Not his fault cause he was caught in a net, and the net arm heald firm instead of snapping as Zed swam away, leading to the ship capsizing. Still try telling that to reef mers who saw him sink it and bust the haul to try and find Scar.

Did they not know Scar was captured? How can Zed convince them he was saving him?
