grey reef sharks appear grey from a distance, but actually have a bronze tint to their skin.
grey reef sharks do not pose a threat to humans, but have been inquisitive around divers. if there is food in the water, this shark will become very active and even aggressive. the expected lifespan is estimated to be at least 25 years.
grey reef sharks are less than 1.9 m (6.2 ft) long. the maximum reported length is 2.6 m (8.5 ft) and the maximum reported weight is 33.7 kg (74 lb).

Brown Shyshark <3
This shark is harmless to humans and is even considered a minor pest species. Because of this they are usually discarded or killed when hooked.  Shysharks will curl up into balls and cover their faces with the ends of their tails when frightened, which im pretty sure is where they got their name!!
Tumblr media
This shark is sedentary bottom dweller feeder! They feed on boney fishes and also lobsters. They are a sister species of the Dark Shyshark!!

i think i love them very much and i hope these sharks have a very good day!!

🦈🦈 IT'S SHARK WEEK!! 🦈🦈
Did you know that sharks keep ocean ecosystems in balance? Certain species are critical in the environments where they live and if they were to die off or be killed off, the entire ecosystem would collapse. Us humans, see them as a threat, but WE are more a threat to them than they are to us. By sport fishing sharks, culling them for their fins, we are harming the ocean even further. Many may not realize how this balance between sharks and their environments impacts US, but it's guaranteed to be seen AND felt when we destroy that balance!

Guys give me shark types/breeds to study and post about!!!
I’m starting with my first favorite, the Greenland Shark!!
The greenland shark is also known as the gurry shark or grey shark!! Its scientific name is the “Somniosus Mircocehphalus. It is a large shark in the “sleeper shark” family!!
Uhm uhm. Its full scientific categories are
Domain
Eukaryota
Kingdom
Animilia
Phylum
Chordata
Class
Chondrichthyes
Subclass
Elasmobranchii
Subdivision
Selachimorpha
Order
Squaliformes
Family
Somniosidae
Genus
Somniosus
Species
S. Microcephalus
They have the longest known lifespan of all of the vertebrae species!! Said lifespan is estimated to be around 250 - 500 YEARS!!!!! Like holy shit.
Its meat is actually toxic, however when its treated to reduce the toxins its actually eaten as a delicacy in iceland!!
Historically, it has been hunted mostly for its liver oil, that was until synthetic oil was developed. Now it is mostly hunted for its meat.
Some food they eat
Smaller sharks, Skates, Eels, Herring, Capelin, Arctic Char, Cod, Rosefish, Sculpins, Lumpfish, Wolffish, Flounder.
Small greenland sharks mostly eat squid!! ^^
Hmm…
Thats all for now!! :3

🦈 Daily Shark Fact: 🦈
The Taiwan Spurdog was accidentally discovered in a Taiwanese fish market by two scientists. This endangered shark is endemic to China, Taiwan, and South Korea. There is not much known about its behavior as it lives in depths up to 2600ft near the continental shelf. They are assumed to be very shy, as there is no record of divers having ever seen the Spurdog during explorations.

tiger sharks are non-selective feeders and a voracious predator. they has been known to consume a wide variety of marine prey and even some terrestrial animals. common prey include crabs, shellfish, lobsters, squid, bony fish, small sharks, skates, rays, porpoises, turtles, marine birds and mammals.
tiger sharks are apex predators meaning they don't have many natural predators. in fact one of the only known predators to this species are humans and killer whales. a killer whale is much larger in size and weight, which allows it to overpower the shark.
tiger sharks are named for the dark, vertical stripes found mainly on juveniles. as these sharks mature, the lines begin to fade and almost disappear.

The Megalodon Shark <3
The Megalodon shark is probably one of the most popular sharks out there today! Most people believe that it's a humongous shark that's bigger than ships. Alot of people believe they still exist. Unfortunately, most of these things are incorrect. Megalodons were big! They are estimated to have grown around 60 ft long, which is only around 3 times the size of a great white! They were about slightly larger than a school bus, which most are only 45 ft.
We don't actually know what the megalodon looked like! We believe it could've looked similar to the Great White, but we aren't sure. We also used to believe that the Great White was a descendent of the megalodon, but that isn't true either. It is a heavily debated topic among scientists on what the Megalodon looked like and if it really is related to the Great White.
Megalodon also means "large tooth" given that the teeth of this shark grew to 7 whole inches long! Which makes complete sense given the size of prey/predator back in those times.
Since the megalodon no longer exists, and we aren't quite sure what it looks like, I've provided you with this pretty badass and, dare I say, dapper image of a young Great White.

(also, feel free to let me know ur thoughts on the megalodon!! PLS id love to hear/read them !!)
