Sartan
Tumblr media
Still from Return of Ultraman accessed at the Ultraman Wiki here
[I am coming to the Ultra franchise pretty much cold, and am watching it in isolation from its fandom except for my girlfriend @abominationimperatrix. One of the things that I gather from her is that the monsters that stand out to me from these series are rarely fandom favorites. Like, I'm not planning on statting up Black King or Gudon or Twintail from Return of Ultraman... but this ratty anthro Snuffleupagus was immediately on my list. Part of that is how grody and gross he looks. Part of it is he has an interesting power set, one that led to my conception of the flavor text. It seems that Tsubaraya Studios thought the idea of a ninja elephant was worth exploring long before it was a joke on RPG.net about D&D 3.0's skill system]
Sartan CR 17 CE Monstrous Humanoid This creature is as tall as a building. Its features are lumpy and misshapen, with bulging eyes and sparse, bristly hair growing from its head. It has a long, elephant-like trunk, clawed hands, and a short tail.
A sartan is an interplanetary thrill killer. They travel from world to world, using their powers of invisibility to spy on people and learn who their heroes are. They then seek these heroes out and kill them for no reason other than to challenge their abilities and to cause other people emotional suffering. Sartans are cruel and enjoy collateral damage in these assassination attempts. Some powerful entities attempt to hire sartans to work for them as assassins, but sartans care little for money. Only if a target interests them, or if the employer resorts to charm spells, will they take on one of these jobs.
A sartan usually only enters combat if it suits them, whether because they have found their target, they want to lure that target into the open, or if they just feel like committing some cruelty for fun. Their supernatural abilities are mostly defensive—a sartan is invisible unless it chooses to appear, or is actively locked in combat. They can become incorporeal, which they often do in order to have mundane weapons pass right through them. When it comes to actual violence, however, sartans do it the old-fashioned way, by getting their claws bloody or grabbing a foe with their trunks and squeezing it to death. Sartans value their own hides too strongly to fight to the death. They will usually attempt to flee a losing battle, but may come back for a rematch on their own terms.

Special Abilities Ghost Form (Su) A sartan can become incorporeal as a swift action. In this form, it loses its natural armor but gains a deflection bonus to Armor Class and CMD equal to its Charisma modifier. It cannot make attacks in this form, but does gain a fly speed equal to twice its land speed with perfect maneuverability. It can resume corporeality as a free action. A sartan can remain incorporeal for a number of minutes up to its Hit Dice in a day. Leap Attack (Su) As a full round action, a sartan can launch itself an impossible distance, traveling up to 1000 feet in a single bound. This movement can be vertical or horizontal, and the sartan lands on its feet unharmed regardless of the height it travels. It can make a single melee attack against an opponent in its reach during any part of this movement. A sartan can use this ability once every 1d4 rounds. Meteoric Starflight (Su) Over the course of 1 minute, a sartan can turn itself into a Medium sized hovering rock-like object, then blast itself into space. In this meteoric form, it has hardness 8, can make no attacks, and requires no food, water or air. In this form, it can fly at a speed of 300 ft. with perfect maneuverability, and can survive in the void of outer space and fly with incredible speed. Although exact travel times vary, a trip within a single solar system should take 3d20 hours, while a trip beyond should take 3d20 days (or more, at the GM’s discretion)—provided the sartan knows the way to its destination. Natural Invisibility (Su) A sartan can become invisible or visible as a move action. Its invisibility is broken when it attacks. Strangle (Ex) Due to its enormous size, a sartan can only strangle when it is grappling an opponent of Huge or larger size. Studied Target (Ex) A sartan gains the studied target ability of a slayer with a level equal to its Hit Dice. It does not gain other slayer class abilities, such as sneak attack or slayer talents, unless it takes levels in the slayer class.

I always wanted to redraw an older sketch/artwork of mine to see my progress and I also wanted to draw a more detailed version of my boy Sang-drax. So why not both?
The first one is from today, the second one from 2003.
And still loving both drawings ❤️🐉🐍
I struggled a lot with my art style in the past bc it was never (and never will be) an art style for the masses. Not beautiful or stereotypical enough but I've made my peace with it. Bc I spent years to draw the way I'm drawing now and I can be proud of it! Seeing the development between these 2 pics also shows me that it's worth it to work for the things you love ❤️

I love how Early Doctor is sooo dodgy about timelord stuff (cuz they were putting off inventing canon for that, or mostly anything about him) and then their first meeting Jamie tried to kill him for being English.
Jamie: I can't believe I'm in a relationship with an Englishman. Embarrassing
Doctor: I'm from space. I'm not English. I'm something much worse.
Jamie: eh?
The doctor: don't worry yourself about it lol :)

Fic Bit: The Seventh
In the days before the Clone Wars, the Outrider Fleet was a confederation of system and sector fleets that banded together to combat smugglers, pirates, and slavers at the edge of the Outer Rim and Wild Space. Brought under the umbrella of the GAR, it soon became the Seventh Fleet. It was generally viewed as a destination posting for the odd, the inconveniently brilliant, the politically unastute, and those square pegs who stubbornly refused to be whittled, hammered, or lathed into round holes.
Under the Empire, the Seventh remained a 'pocket fleet' - still assigned to the out-fars, and often a place where female officers, enlisted, specialists, and technicians ended up. It was the place to end a career, not begin one, and if one failed to adapt to the isolation, long hyperpace jumps, and frequent action - a place to end one's life and ensure one's dependents survivor benefits. Anyone caught being exceptional in the Seventh was usually reposted to a better positioned fleet, thus to hopefully wreath their captain in glory. It was not until the transfer and subsequent - if slow - promotion of Karyn Faro that a change began to manifest.
Faro came into the GAR from the Corellian Defense Force not as an officer, but as a Gunner's Mate and Junior Sergeant. As the clones were retired from service, officers became in short supply, so Karyn was given a choice - demobilization, re-enlistment in the Corellian SecFor, Merchant Services, or OCS at Corulag. It took her two years to complete a three-year course, and then go to the ass end of the ass end of nowhere as an ensign in the Seventh, junior weapons officer, and with about as much respect from the bridge crew as the ship's tooka. When the Chimaera was folded into the 96th Task Force, then-commodore Sartan noted that Faro had a knack for winning the 'how long will they last?' pool. The junior officer also was highly accurate in winning the pot for the dead pool. Faro's picks had staying power, and were generally skilled officers who fell off-center in the psych exams.
Sartan kept her close, letting her look over the cadets and transfers, her uncanny ability allowing him to staff up, and then spread out to the other ships in the task force. Though a lowly commodore, Faro's picks began to filter into the Seventh - cementing the oddball reputation, but also pulling victories out of their asses. The admiralty and IHC didn't give a high-flying fuck how those victories were achieved, as long as they were achieved. He assumed command of the Seventh as Fleet Admiral, keeping the Chimaera as his flagship and finally promoting Faro to full commander. The selection of naval officers and crew became her open job.
If anyone suspected just a breath of Force ability, they kept it off their tongue. This was the situation that Thrawn stepped into, and in front of a wall of resentment that Faro didn't get the captaincy. Sartan chucked up a few prayers that the 96th wouldn't give him more trouble, and sent them on their way to Ibriho - a little run against a pirate fleet pushing old Venators - and thought not for the first time that he was getting too old for this shit.

The summer solstice, known in Judaism as Tekufat Tammuz, is quickly approaching and correlates with Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, the new month.
In Jewish astrology, each zodiac sign carries its unique Hebrew name and symbolism. Cancer, or "Sartan," represents the sign associated with this new month and the portal of time we are now treated to.

I've been quiet lately because I've been cooking Blue Exorcist OC inspired directly from my culture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His name is Mengkara Machan Dharma (Sartan star, tiger/king of the jungle, obligation. The tiger's obligation born on Sartan star).
Here's a few infos about him:
-True Cross Order SEA branch member (yes i made that up. if TCO's a global organization there's definitely one in each country/continent around the world)
-Tamer, aria and doctor meister
-Middle 1st class. Could've gotten higher rank. He thinks it's a pain in the ass to deal with if he has higher rank because high rank means more work
-never put on his exorcist uniform properly(it's hot)
-An expert in identifying Malaysia's regional demons & unaffliated demons. Have written a few classification guides about them.
-A polygot
-he's quite laid back so people like Yukio stresses him out
Bonus: I had story planned how he gonna meet the exwire gang but I have other priorities to do for now
Tumblr media
I hope you like him :3

Demigods of the Death Gate: Book 1, Chapter 5
"How can you hear anything over the racket that damn machine's making?" Bane stated around a mouthful of bread. Perseus flicked his wrist, and the stream of water twisted around the statue, giving it an ethereal look. Fitting for a Sartan statue.
Error
Demigods of the Death Gate: Book 2, Chapter 1
The entry ended there. Annabeth set down her pen and reread the translation, comparing it against the Sartan text for errors. She was getting better at understanding the language, she made fewer and fewer errors with each new entry in this journal.
Crown
The Assassin and the Dragonlance, Chapter 1
He paced around the altar, thinking. Perhaps Alfred had something to do with this? He had brought Hugh back from the dead the first time around, surely transporting the assassin somewhere like this wasn’t too much of a stretch. Come to think of it, Hugh had never found out how the chamberlain had managed to follow him and Bane on the back of Trian’s dragon to begin with, despite his evasive measures. Or when Alfred had managed to learn Geg despite supposedly being a servant to the crown of Volkaran….
Ash
The Hunter, the Myth and the Cure
Octavian said nothing for a long time, rubbing a spot on his left middle finger and staring into the embers of the dying fire. Reese tossed a few more dry leaves onto the hot coals. The flames surged up for several seconds before dying down as the leaves shriveled up into ashes.
A lot of my fanfics showed themselves this time around lol

I was also going to make a comic of the continuation of the Earth C line but with the descendants of the Sburb Trolls but I think I won't be able to due to work 💀 By the way, I'll give you a name for Vantas: It could be Saitan since "Sartan" is an Arabic word for the sign Cancer and combines the word Saint, which is ironic.
heh! a comic would be nice. unfortunate that you couldnt make it due to work, but thats probably also good since i think work and real life living is more important than anything homestuck related. i also really like that name, so thank you for the suggestion! though im very indecisive now, because i think it would be much better, for me personally, to just keep him nameless.. places a lot more emphasis on the last name Vantas, like hes straight up pointing and going "hey! look! im kind of related to a pretty important guy. remember him? yeah". but idk! ill do some more time to think about it now.

I really loved the last ask I sent that you answered! Poor Magni, Modi and Faye, being forced to fight their evil uncle, Loki! But tell, will Kratos betray Atreus/Loki, since he made a deal with Freya that he will give up Revna to her as long that she lets Björn and his children bind with him and Atreus?
Even after Atreus make that clear that he doesn’t want to give up on Revna? What will be Atreus’s reaction when he finds out that his own father “betrayed” him?
Broken Truth (Reads the ask): Glad to know you were fond of that ask as for this town, Atreus deserves all the misfortune that comes his way after what he did to Revna and Björn. Now, let the words weave together.
[Midgard - The Ghost of Sparta's Cabin]
The frozen winds were heard from the inside of the house through the hollow windows, causing Atreus to look at the window with narrowed eyes. It was dinner time for the Sartan Family - or what was left of them - while they were waiting on Freya to arrive with intel as to how to approach getting Björn, Revna, and Björn's Children: Magni, Modi, and Faye.
"Relax, Atreus. She will be here." Kratos said as he placed a piece of meat in his mouth and slowly chewed - it was deer meat, causing him to look at the empty seat at the table: Björn's seat. He would have loved this meal but was with the Aesir in Asgard, living a false life; the Aesir put him in the face of danger every day instead of protecting him like he was supposed to be. It didn't matter, Kratos was going to correct that. A knock on the door caused Atreus to get up from his seat and open it - revealing Freya, the Ex of the All-Father, Odin.
"You're late," Atreus said as he let Freya into the building and closed the door when Freya was inside. The Valkyrie walked into the room and sat in Björn's seat, much to Atreus' annoyance but he didn't say anything.
"What plan do you have to obtain The Lost Bear, The Raven Girl, and the Bear's Cubs?" Kratos asked as he looked at Freya with his golden eyes. Freya reached into her pocket and pulled out a set of 5 rings - all golden and engraved with a strange rune. However, one of the rings had a red jewel embedded in it, causing Kratos to pick it up and examine it.
"These are Binding Rings - all of them keyed to the ring in your hands. Placing a ring on Björn and his children and wearing the ring in your hand would bind them to you so that they would never escape you." Freya explained.
"Wait. You're missing a ring - The Ring to bind Revna. Where is it?" Atreus asked as he looked from the rings and back to Freya who smirked and lifted her hand, revealing a gold ring with a blue stone in it.
"I didn't make a Binding Ring for you being I am going to make Revna mine. That is my price for helping you get Björn and his children." Freya smirked at Atreus who stared at her.
"I told you once - Frevna is my sister and I won't let anyone else have her! Now, give me her binding ring!" He demanded but Kratos raised his hand.
"Silence, boy. Freya has named her price to aid us and she shall have it." He said, making Atreus look at him with wide eyes.
"You made a deal with her, didn't you?!" Atreus stood to his feet and glared at his father, who just groaned and told him to sit back down but Atreus didn't listen to him, "Father how could you do this to me?! I told you that I didn't want to give Revna to Freya but you go behind my back a make a deal with her?! What's wrong with you?!"
"That is my price to give you Björn & his cubs. Revna is soul-bound to my son, Baldur, and I want her to be my daughter. If you go back on your word in giving me Revna, I won't give you the rings to bind Björn to you, Kratos." Freya said as she looked at the Ghost of Sparta.
"You want the raven girl, you shall have the raven girl. That was the deal." Kratos said as Freya smiled at him before smirking at Atreus.
"No! YOU'RE NOT GETTING YOUR TALONS ON MY SISTER! I DON'T CARE IF SHE'S SOUL-BOUND TO YOUR SON, SHE IS MINE AND INE ALONE! I WON'T LET YOU HAVE HER! YOU HEAR ME?!" Atreus got in Freya's face who just continued to smirk at him.
"I have her binding ring. She will be mine, Atreus. There's nothing you can do about it." Freya smirked. Atreus glared at her again before turning on his heel and running out the door with tears in his eyes - his father betrayed him, He had to make a binding ring for Revna on his own or Freya was going to get his sister and he couldn't let that happen.

Thinking about that chapter in Elven Star when Marit is singing lullabies to that sqautter camp community baby.
Thinking about the only things left from Alfred's culture and childhood are the ones in his head.
Thinking about post canon trio taking turns with bedtime stuff, and a generation of kids who doze off interchangably to the songs of two cultures who tore the world apart in their centuries long war, asking interchangably if you can sing "mom's song" or "one of grandpa's scary ones"
