Revelation that the key to understanding Godzilla is that you must understand it is wrestling. It is wrestling. The good guy monsters like Godzilla, Anguirus, and Rodan are the Faces who you always root for because they’re YOUR GUYS. The bad guy monsters like Ghidorah and Gigan are the Heels who act like assholes and yell things like “it doesn’t matter what you think!”. The good humans like Miki and Serizawa and the Shobijin are the Jim Ross-style announcers and interviewers who comment on the match or chat with the wrestlers between fights. The bad humans and evil aliens are the corporate guys like Vince McMahon, and the giant robots like MechaGodzilla are what happens when they decide to get in the ring themselves. Rival kaiju/toku series like Gamera or Ultraman are rival wrestling companies and underground circuits. Baby Godzilla is Hornswoggle.

“I want to leave this body to the humans of tomorrow.”
Been sitting on this for a while. Shin Ultraman touched me in a way that I don’t think any other film ever has or will and for that reason I poured every bit of passion I could muster into this piece. Seriously adore this film.

Guillermo del Toro goes Japan to promote his film, Pacific Rim.
In an earlier press conference in Japan, they asked him what places he'd like to visit and he said one of them is Nakano Broadway.
So the host brought him to Nakano Broadway, it's an alternative to Akihabara, where all things Otaku are.
Out of all the Tokusatsu Monsters available in the shop, the host ask him to pick one, which is his favourite of them all.
He had a hard time choosing. As much as he love Godzilla, he eventually picked Red King in the end.
He explained how Tokusatsu films played a big part in his childhood and they influenced his films like Pacific Rim and Hellboy.
It gets more wholesome when they get Alien Baltan, one of his favourite monsters to show up!
Bless this man for not being afraid of show his inner child to the world and never lost that childhood curiosity and innocence.

Zoffy...
"Greetings "Ultraman" as they call you on this world"
"What...what's happening?"
"I've come to retrieve you, I've dealt with the...Zarab problem for you"
"Cap? What's going on man"
"You do not have to refer to me as "Cap" or "Captain" any more. I've taken the identity of this human just as you have but it seems my time in this form is done, just as it is for you"
"you're not making any sense"
"...You don't seem to understand, we don't have to play this role much longer-"
"Where are we!?"
"...I see. This is no persona, is it? You both share this body. Have you really become so fond of humans, Ultraman? To merge with one?"
"..who are you?"
"Hayata you are not part of this conversation, I am speaking to the one who lays dormant within you"
"Like hell! what did you do with Captain Muramatsu"
"...There never was a "Captain Muramatsu" Hayata, or at least the one you knew. I had to possess this vessel through force"
"Zoffy, why have you come to this world"
"Ultraman! You arrive, though I must admit talking to each other in these lowly forms is less then ideal"
"I ask again, why have you come to this world"
"I have come to commend you on your efforts at combating the monstrosities of this world, and to relieve you of them as your work is desired elsewhere"
"...."
"The Garrison has gone through with the plan already Ultraman, it's forming"
"I do not wish to participate"
".....excuse me"
"I do not wish to participate in this"
"That is not your decision, besides it is the honor of all Citizens of Light to become one in Zetton"
"The Zetton is a danger to existence"
"...I see, Ultraman I absolve you of your connection to Land of Light and it's people, may your end be as swift by the hand of Zetton as everyone else"
File #8 Reappearance of Red Light Phenomenon.
This morning at 2AM, the red light that was seen during the Greenmons attack (See file #6 for reference) was seen floating miles above the Pacific Ocean
VTOL's were launched to intercept the light but to no avail. After a lengthy period of time the light dissipated and in it's place was Officer Shin Hayata, who subsequently fell into the ocean. We were able to retrieve his body and miraculously he was unscathed as well as breathing (Ide was more focused on his living coworker rather than being told his pay would be cut)

The first trailer for Ultraman Rising is here, and it has a surprisingly talkative Ultra, and a cute baby kaiju. This is from Shannon Tindle and the folks at ILM with a 2024 release.
