this sure needs more study but i think a big part of the problem with the "stans" of some female characters is that they hide behind the term "feminist" when their real interest is to prove their self-insert is "desirable". i mostly notice this particular behavior in the "shipper" portion of these fandoms, as the "wives" status of certain characters is measured based on how beautiful/powerful their husbands are. many of these shippers think that having a husband (specifically a handsome one) is proof that the female character of their choice is attractive and therefore "beautiful" because, let's face it, desirability is all this boils down to; even their need to show how "powerful" or "strong" they are (often by providing examples of how "superior" their fav is to other female characters) is more about them being recognized, admired, and desired by the male characters.

I get when people aren't able to understand some more subtle things in the manga, for example gay narratives, but when they ignore things that are pretty clear already, it's disappointing.
Sasuke's intention of reviving the clan never had to do with repopulating it. Like they noticed themselves, you can't restore the clan with one kid, makes no sense. The reason obviously has to do with restoring the honour of the Uchiha clan, what's so confusing about this? The entirety of Kage arc shows Sasuke's reasons for his wrath and fury at the mistreatment of his clan, the manner in which it was obliterated for the political gain of a power hungry despot. Which gives him the motivation and power he needs to set things straight.
Sasuke says it out loud even, without mixing words.
Tumblr media
How much clearer can he get?
Seriously guys, you need to pay better attention.
Sasuke marrying Sakura and spawning Sarada has to do with expansion of the franchise, ie, Boruto. For money. Plain and simple.
Sakura never deserved anything good, the way she was written, she got what she wanted above everything else. Sasuke. At least on paper. Despite knowing she will never be able to make him happy.
Tumblr media
She wanted to see a happy ending for him and she realizes Sasuke isn't happy with her post Shippuden. What does that tell you? It tells you that she doesn't care as long as she gets to have Sasuke, no matter how. She chased after him and came back with a baby, nowhere does it say Sasuke asked to marry her. Why would he? He is gay and in love with Naruto. Kishi deliberately wrote Sarada's conception as shady and full of mystery. For a reason. To keep Sasuke's and Sakura's characterisation and dynamic consistent without making it seem written out of shounen's bounds.
If she is lonely and unfulfilled, it's her own fault. That's how she was written. Coveting Sasuke at any cost, no matter how it affected Sasuke, no matter how much he spurned her advances, no matter how much clear ass contempt he showed for her. She just couldn't help herself, when it came to Sasuke, she had to keep pestering him relentlessly. At no point, does her loneliness or sadness come off as undeserved. She deserved worse to be fair. But this manga is layered in more ways than one.

I get why some people don’t like Sasuke, especially in Boruto.
...What I don’t get is why some of those people still like Naruto, and think he’s a good parent.
Let’s just recap here.
Sasuke, after the war, went on a long, self-imposed mission, that was basically to exterminate the rest of the Zetsu, so that they wouldn’t be able to plan something like what they did again, and basically remove a huge threat to the world.
In doing so, yes, he was leaving his wife and his daughter alone.
HOWEVER. I have mentioned this quite a few times on here, do you recall how Sakura got Sasuke to marry her in the first place?
STALKING AND CONSTANT HARASSMENT.
While Sarada is innocent in this case, would you really want to stay with a wife who basically pestered you and wore you down until you agreed to marry them?
They do, at the very least, appear to love each other in canon but that can be put down to Kishimoto’s frankly terrible writing, considering he basically undid a bunch of character development for Sakura and made her back into a Sasuke fangirl who has no care for Sasuke’s privacy or personal space.
But yeah, Sasuke does have legit reason to want to be away from Sakura, even though that’s not the point of his mission at all.
Now let’s look at Naruto.
Naruto stays at Konoha (he offered to go with Sasuke but Sasuke said that he was needed in Konoha, knowing that in the not-too-distant future, Naruto would be Hokage. Naruto ended up getting married to Hinata, and having two children. So far, so good.
...Then he became Hokage. And then his family simply became an afterthought, he was like “sweet, I’ve achieved my lifelong dream, fuck my family” and started to neglect them. While in the same village as them.
Yes, Hokage is a busy job, but you’re forgetting that Naruto can, and often does, make clones of himself. Since paperwork is hardly a dangerous job, he could have made a clone, and have that do all the paperwork, or done all the paperwork himself and had a clone spending time with his family.
Remember that Boruto basically ends up in the same sort of situation as Naruto, doing all sorts of pranks to get attention, because Naruto is neglecting him. Despite having living parents, Boruto is neglected by his father to the point of doing pranks, and considering Naruto’s childhood... Naruto really should know better.
Oh, and also, when some random kid shows up, Naruto makes time to train them, rather than, y’know... spending time with his family? Training with Boruto? Y’know, something that would make him a better parent?
So yeah, I’m just saying, they’re both poor parents, but Naruto has both the means and the opportunity to be a good parent... and then he kinda blows it hardcore as soon as he becomes Hokage. As soon as he achieves his dream, he all but abandons his family.

First how was sarada able to chase after sasuke ? Because sasuke told naruto to meet somewhere and she chased Naruto . The same could be said about sakura . Sasuke probably agreed to meet kakashi for some important discussion and sakura decided to follow him and join sasuke later . Kishi probably wanted to make parallels between sarada and sakura how they both went to chase sasuke to travel with him . I feel like sasuke has been through so much that things like romance were trivial in his life or he won't necessarily go seek out anyone yeah sakura made the move and he appreciates it and then later falls in love . Sasuke goes extra miles to protect his loved ones not for romance which is a sakura thing to do :)
I'm afraid your ideas just don't make any sense. Firstly, the same most definitely couldn't be said about Sakura, because it was never even slightly implied that Kakashi had anything to do with Sakura meeting up with Sasuke. You can't just make a non-existent parallel based on a complete and utter guess, because that parallel doesn't actually exist. How could Kishi have wanted to make such a parallel, when he made absolutely no attempt whatsoever to actually illustrate it? He clearly had no intention of making that parallel. Secondly, why are you so adamant on the notion of Sasuke meeting Kakashi? Why would he choose to meet Kakashi at some unknown location outside of the village instead of simply speaking to Kakashi in the village? He wasn't on a mission at that point, nor was he trying to keep a secret from the village, so that doesn't make any sense. There wouldn't even be a parallel there between Sarada and Sakura because Sarada didn't follow Naruto with the intention of ultimately travelling with Sasuke, she went with the intention of getting answers from him, and didn't subsequently travel with him either, they went to save Sakura along with Naruto and Chouchou.
If romance was still "trivial" to Sasuke at that point, then he wouldn't have agreed to be in a relationship with Sakura in the first place, let alone marry and start a family with her. Family has always meant the world to him, and they're not a triviality. I don't know why the idea of Sasuke and Sakura simply talking in the village and agreeing to have Sakura join him afterwards, is so difficult to accept for you. How is that any less plausible than Sasuke inexplicably wanting to meet Kakashi outside the village, having Sakura follow them without their consent, and forcibly joining Sasuke then and there? That theory only gives credence to that ridiculous fake interview that people still believe, regarding how Sakura kept pestering Sasuke until he gave in:
Tumblr media
Sakura didn't just keep pestering Sasuke until he agreed, and she wouldn't have joined him without his consent, because I'll reiterate that it doesn't make sense for her to have respected his wishes to be alone in 699, only for Sakura to then disregard his wishes and forcibly join Sasuke whether he agreed to it or not, after having spent time in the village together following Sasuke Shinden's conclusion.

SSM 2020 Day 5
Prompt: Arrivals
Summary: Modern AU. Sasuke’s a businessman who was supposed to come back to Tokyo from a business trip. Needless to say, Sakura was kept waiting.
Rating: K+. curse words
A/N: I’m not trying to make Sasuke like the bad guy here. I mean when you’re so busy, there’s always a possibility that you might forget some things, right?
Work work work. It seemed to be the only thing in Sasuke’s mind. Sakura had to suffer most of the time because of it, and today was no exception. Except that today was their third wedding anniversary.
He was supposed to come back home from his five-day business trip in Hokkaido today. Sakura had planned a special evening for them, spending extra time to cook Sasuke’s favorite meal to welcome him from his long trip. She even cleaned the whole house. She knew how much of a neat freak Sasuke was.
7:30PM.
His flight was supposed to land at 6:30 and given the distance from the airport to their home, it would take him about an hour to arrive home.
She had timed everything perfectly. She just finished cooking a few minutes before half past seven, and by the time Sasuke arrived, they could both enjoy their meals right away. She put on a soft instrumental in the background, to liven up the mood. She couldn’t contain her excitement to see him again. Three days without seeing him had been hard enough. This time she had to wait for a whole week!
8:00PM.
Still no sign of Sasuke. She checked her phone to see if he had left any messages. Zero. She figured maybe traffic was especially bad. She didn’t want to be pestering him every second, so she decided to wait.
11:00PM.
Waiting seemed to be the only thing she could do. She’d practically finished half a bottle of wine by herself. The food had grown cold, along with her mood. Half of her was worried that he’d got into some trouble or accident that prevented him from coming home, but half of her was beginning to think that he had forgotten to come home, which would seem impossible. Right? She decided the only way to get answers was to ask the man himself.
Sasuke-kun. Where are you?
A few minutes later, he responded.
On my way to the hotel.
“The hotel? Don’t tell me he’s still in Hokkaido.” Her latter guess was in fact proven correct.
But I thought you were supposed to come home today? Remember? Today’s our anniversary.
“Shit.” As he read her text in the taxi, Sasuke inwardly cursed himself. How could he forget such an important day? He must had booked the plane ticket on a different date. In his mind, their anniversary fell on a Sunday. He was wrong, of course. It fell on a Saturday. He ran a hand along his exhausted face. How am I gonna make this up to her?
He was going to need a lot more than just an apology. But for now, it was the only thing he could produce. He wasn’t trying to make excuses, but somehow the truth itself felt like one.
I’m so sorry. I booked the ticket on the wrong date. I’m sorry, Sakura.
Sakura felt crushed. She felt like every ounce of energy left were being sucked right out of her. She couldn’t even write a response. She didn’t bother to clean up the table and headed straight for the shower.
Of course. Work would always come first. She thought to herself. She let the hot water drench her, trickling from her head to her toes. She tried to focus on the scalding heat instead of the scorching pain in her chest. She couldn’t tell whether her lack of disappointed outburst was due to the wine or to her solidifying heart. She loved Sasuke with all of her heart, which made it especially hard for her to be left alone to wait for him like this.
She stepped out after a shower and fell asleep. Alone.
.
.
His flight was scheduled for Sunday at 8:00AM. Sleep hadn’t come to him at all. Thinking about how much he had hurt Sakura seemed to have kept his mind alive. He knew he didn’t deserve her. He deserved to be punished, and he was not going to make himself any less guilty. He just hoped Sakura was going to forgive him.
Countless hours in the office, leaving his wife alone at home the whole day would definitely affect their relationship. All this time he thought he’d be able to make her happy if he worked harder. Being one of the providers for the family, he thought their life would be so much better if he’d earn more. After all, Sakura also had her shifts at the hospital, and he knew how much she valued her own career.
He realized, however, that he’d been wrong this whole time. The only thing she needed was him. How could he had forgotten? The first thing she said to him when they got married.
“I don’t need anything luxurious. I’m happy whenever I’m with you. Even if it means living in a dump.”
It felt like the longest plane ride he had ever taken.
Arriving at their home, Sasuke took off his shoes and neatly set it on the shoe rack. Hearing the water running and plates clinking, he assumed Sakura was washing the dishes. He took a deep breath and went to greet her in the kitchen.
With a sunken voice, he managed to say, “I’m home”, earning a mere glance from Sakura. The only expression painted on her face was that of disappointment and defeat; expressions that never looked good on her, or on anyone in fact.
“Well you look like shit,” was the first thing Sakura said, and he couldn’t help but agree with her. He looked and felt like shit.
“Sakura.”
“It’s fine Sasuke-kun. I’ll just try to get used to letting work come between us.” His heart ached at her comment. He bitterly admitted there was truth behind them. He had been letting work come between them for too long. However, he wasn’t going to let that happen any further. Something had to change, and Sasuke was ready to do anything for her.
“I’m sorry.” He was hesitant to approach her. She turned off the water and rested her hands on the edge of the sink.
“Look. I don’t have the energy to deal with you right now. I’m just tired. Can you give me time?” He was expecting her to fully lash out on him. However, this felt even worse. It felt more serious, more severe. He’d have to really earn his forgiveness.
He decided to step back and give her space. She continued her task while he settled to unpack his luggage and shower.
All freshened up but still not managing to wash off the guilt, he went into the kitchen only to find that it was empty. Sakura was nowhere to be found. She must had stepped outside. He saw a meal had been laid out on the dining table, with a set of chopsticks and a note on the side.
Lunch. Dinner’s in the fridge.
He heaved a long sigh. Even when she was mad at him, she still cared for him enough to make sure he didn’t skip his meals. His heart ached more. The only thing he could do at that moment was give Sakura space and wait for her to return.
.
.
Sakura didn’t return until 11PM. He waited for her in their bedroom, reading over some reports. When he heard the door open, he peeked through the bedroom. Her expression hadn’t changed. She wasn’t sparing a glance towards him. She went to the kitchen to grab a glass of water before heading to the bedroom and preparing to hit the hay.
He quickly set aside his reading materials and turned off the lights.
She sat on her side of the bed and lied down, only displaying her back towards him. Little did he know, she had only been outside at a nearby park, trying to collect her thoughts and calm herself. Still trying to act strong, she had to put up this armor showing that she wasn’t going to let her anger control her. She knew she couldn’t look at Sasuke in the eye or her emotions would explode in an instant.
“Goodnight, Sakura.”
“Goodnight.” her voice faint as ever.
.
.
Monday wasn’t supposed to be a day off for him, but he made it one anyway. He was determined to set things right, and that’s exactly what he was going to do.
His biological clock had always been punctual. Getting to work early meant having to wake up early. He woke up half an hour earlier than usual and quietly headed to the kitchen.
Gathering ingredients from the fridge and pantry, he was making Sakura’s favorite dishes for breakfast. He thanked God he could find all the ingredients at home, making sure he didn’t leave anything out. Trying to be as silent as possible, he started his task.
.
A delicious scent started poking at her senses, awaking her. Sakura opened her eyes and blinked a few times. Sunlight was pouring in from the blinds. She reached to her side to see that Sasuke wasn’t there. She heaved a sigh before detecting that sweet aroma again. She slowly sat up, gathering herself before heading out to the kitchen.
“Sasuke-kun, what are you doing?” She tried to take in the sight before her. A few plates were laid out on the kitchen table. She eyed them one by one, recognizing that they’re all her favorite dishes. Surprise overcame her as her mind hadn’t been fully there yet.
Sasuke was finishing up the last egg roll and setting them on a plate.
“Have a seat.” She obliged and took a seat before he joined her. She joined her hands on the table, her thumb fiddling with each other.
“I’m sorry I forgot. I know I’ve been away too much and spending less time with you. And you have every right to be mad at me.” He paused. He noticed she was still avoiding his eyes. However, he recognized the look on her face. It was the look of someone who was just trying to act tough and undisturbed, hiding the real Sakura underneath who was ready to break.
He reached out to place his hands on top of hers, watching her flinch a little at the sudden contact.
“But I want to change that. I’ll no longer be working during weekends, and I won’t take business trips too often. I’ll try my best to come home on time.” He paused.
“I’m sorry, Sakura.” He let silence fill in between them.
She knew she could never stay mad at him forever. Her love for him would always be greater and dissipate her anger quicker than she probably would have hoped.
He watched as her armor finally broke and tears were spilling from her eyes. Her lips quivered as she began to speak.
“Idiot. You’re lucky I still love you.” Sasuke couldn’t help the feeling of guilt from being lifted off his shoulders. He gently squeezed her hands.
“I love you too.” Her eyes finally met his before she leaned over and put her lips on his. He leaned into the kiss, touching her wet cheek. They pulled away and brought their foreheads together, finally reconnecting with each other.
“I missed you.”
“Aa. Me too.” He made sure he would keep his promise.

COFFEE SHOP | A SasuSaku FanFic (2/2)
For Day 12 (Gravitation) of SasuSaku Month 2019☕
Rating: K+
Summary: Sakura chuckled and enveloped Sasuke in an embrace. "In the end, it's still you and me." "Hn. And it all started in this place."
-----
(Coffee Shop - Part 1/2)
-----
"So that's how you met mama?" There was an adorable twinkle in the eyes of the raven-haired girl in front of Sasuke.
Moments earlier, little Sarada complained about the tons of assignments she took home from the academy. It's not that she couldn't manage to finish them, it's just that she found the repetitive equations too boring to spend much time with. So, she ended up pestering her dad to tell her any story that he or Sakura liked so much.
Sasuke's lips twitched upwards as he gave his daughter a nod to answer her question.
Sarada leaned towards him on the table that used to be his haven while waiting for his mom to finish her café managing job when he was younger. "That's so cool! Did you marry mom the next day?"
Sasuke released a chuckle. "I wish. But it doesn't work that way, Sarada. There were lots of highs and lows, and we needed to grow up before that."
His daughter blinked twice while she parsed the information she received, her interest not dying down a bit. "Oh. Then..." She pouted, with a hand on her chin as she stared at a distance – a pose that reminded Sasuke of Sakura whenever she's thinking deeply, causing him to smile. "Then, Papa! Would I be able to marry my crush too?"
All the muscles on Sasuke's face tensed. Sure, he and Sakura met and felt a connection with each other at the same age as Sarada's now, but if he would be completely honest, he wasn’t ready to let his baby girl go any time soon. And it might be unavoidable for him to develop a slight fury to any guy who might steal his heiress's heart from him and Sakura one day.
"You have a crush." Sasuke's voice came out in a tone that's mixed with both question and accusation.
With widened eyes and burning cheeks, Sarada waved her hands in front of her in quick dismissal. "No, no! It's not that! All the boys in school are annoying! I only mean that if I would have one." She scratched the back of her head. "Also, you and mama would surely know when the time comes!" She grinned until she saw her dad's face relax.
"Good."
"You're overprotective, Papa!" She giggled, earning an eye roll from Sasuke.
"Tch. Of course, I don't want my little girl to be taken away by any undeserving guy." He reached out and tapped Sarada's forehead with his two fingers.
Although Sarada was quite accustomed to the affectionate gesture already, she still couldn't help but jerk a little.
"Meanwhile, to answer your question, it doesn't always happen that way. But who knows, you might be able to marry your future crush too, when you don't find the need to rush." There was a slight emphasis to the word "future" that made Sarada flinch. "But for now, just wait for the Author of love Himself to write your own love story, okay?" Sasuke smiled.
Sarada beamed back and nodded at this.
"Now back to your homework." He stood up and patted his daughter's head before leaving her to check up on his wife who was busying herself with the coffee shop's inventory for the day.
He found Sakura seated on one of the bar stools on the other side of the renovated café, scribbling with eyebrows furrowed on the directory and notebooks sprawled in front of her on the high table.
He snickered at the sight. Despite having medical duties on her own clinic by day, she still takes time in doing what she can for the coffee shop business that was passed on to them by Sasuke's parents – Mikoto and Fugaku Uchiha. Sakura told him once that for her, it was the least she could do to support his career as a thriving businessman despite her being inclined to a different field, knowing that Sasuke already has several businesses that he was overseeing.
Plus, it was the coffee shop where they first met, so when she decided to personally oversee at least one of their many businesses, the cafè was her first and immediate choice.
It was heartwarming for Sasuke to see how dedicated his wife was in keeping up with the reputation of his family, not that she didn’t have a topflight repute of her own in terms of medical studies, but her character and dedication were some of the many confirmations to Sasuke that Sakura was definitely meant to be an Uchiha. Having her as his wife was probably the best dream that he has ever achieved for himself.
Sasuke paced across the room and decided to approach her from behind. Slipping his arms around her waist, he peered over her shoulder to check on what she was doing. "Are you almost done?"
Slightly startled with her husband's touch, she responded, "Yeah. Just a few more items and we could go home." She smiled as she met Sasuke's gaze. "How's Sarada?"
"Well, she was easily bored again today, pretty much a lot like me." He snorted. "But she said it was only because her math homeworks were too plain for her, so much like you in that manner. Tch."
Sakura smirked. "We've made a pretty smart child, haven't we?"
Sasuke nodded with a smile. They've always been proud of how advanced Sarada's cognitive skills were for her age. And as she grows older, the distinguished characteristics she has acquired from either of her parents are slowly manifesting in her deeds and speech. It's a little funny for them sometimes that they got to see an image of their younger selves in Sarada.
Sasuke then planted a kiss on Sakura's shoulder blade. "Meanwhile, to kill her boredom, I told her about how we met."
"Oh, yeah?" Sakura suddenly cackled. "So you finally got to tell her about how you used to have a short-lived crush on nee-chan?"
Groaning, Sasuke tightened his embrace on her waist and buried his face in her hair. "Well, if I didn't notice Sasuna-nee back then, and if Hisuke-nii didn't fetch you from school and bring you here, I most likely wouldn't even get the chance of being introduced to you." He smirked as Sakura continued to laugh. "I'll always be grateful to them, that's for sure."
Sakura slightly pulled away to turn on her seat and now face Sasuke. "It's funny how our lives changed since then, don't you think? It's how we got to know that Someone was really orchestrating every single thing in the world to fall into place." She said, beaming from ear to ear while gently placing her arms around Sasuke's neck. "That day, I felt so sure, that you were made for me, and I for you."
"Hn." Sasuke had felt the exact same way, and he couldn't help but capture her lips with his as an agreement to her words. It was quick but sweet, making Sakura giggle in delight.
"But, do you remember how difficult our college years had been?"
Her husband's face went blank. "I don't even want to remember."
"Right." Sakura frowned as she relived the pain of those years without Sasuke.
It was a mutual decision. Growing up together, it was as if they were practically glued to each other that when you try to pull one of them away, the other would be inevitably wrecked, too.
It became almost too unhealthy how they depended on each other to the point of being too consumed in their own world. That's why when it was time for them to take different paths towards the courses they wanted to pursue, they knew they had to end their two-year relationship that bloomed during their Senior High School years (when Sasuke finally had the guts to tell Sakura that what he had for her was more than a mere childhood crush).
It wasn't just about the long distance caused by their different universities, nor the hectic schedules of their business and medical classes alongside various extracurricular activities, but it was about learning to let go that they may individually grow.
When their parents learned about it, they were surprised, but they agreed that it was indeed a wise idea.
Itachi thought it was so courageous of them that he viewed them with so much admiration ever since, because he saw how his brother stood firm with his decision although it was apparently not easy for him.
Sasuna felt heartbroken, thinking about how she wouldn't be able to take it if it was her who had to break up with Hisuke just so they could focus on their individual pursuits.
Nonetheless, both their families trusted them that they were already mature enough to deal with matters of the heart, even though it involved pain.
It was Sasuna who first witnessed the positive effects of the harrowing decision to her younger sister. Entering college made Sakura leave the clingy and hopeless romantic teenager behind. She grew up to be more confident in her own skin, even though she was alone and she didn’t have the arm of a raven-haired guy constantly linked with hers. Her track record was a testament that she has made a name for herself in her chosen field, healing patients from various pains as her own heart slowly got healed.
Itachi had shared great reports about his younger brother too. During a batch reunion alongside their spouses and other batch mates in the academy, Itachi and Sasuna made sure to have a catch up about their siblings who had decided to cut off their communication with each other. Itachi proudly mentioned that despite being away from home, Sasuke grew up to be a very responsible man, worthy enough to take ownership of their companies even at such a young age. He also became more focused than ever, compared to that sulky and lovesick teen that was damned crazy about "keeping pests away" from his pink-haired childhood sweetheart.
Years later, their college graduations marked not only their professional milestones, but also their personal growth. And their families couldn't be any prouder.
For Sasuke, hearing about Sakura being hailed as one of the best rising doctors of their generation made him glad that they stuck with their decision. It was so apparent how Sakura had grown on her own, without him getting in the way as a distraction in pursuing the difficult career she chose. Though he was miles away, he had always hoped all the best for Sakura, even if it might not include him.
There was a part of Sakura that wished she was with Sasuke while he was slowly achieving his goals, but she knew that in one way or another, it would be difficult for him to focus with her around, just like when they were kids. And even though it was still a struggle for Sakura to stop longing for Sasuke, she found peace in believing that her Creator would not withold the best from her heart; hence, she continued to focus on her career and wait for love to come at its proper time. After all, she has always desired for Sasuke to be happy, even if his happiness wouldn't involve her.
But just when they thought they already had everything, they knew, somewhere at the back of their minds, that something was still missing.
"Doctor Haruno!" A nurse suddenly approached Sakura's office with a panic-stricken face. "You are needed at the emergency room. Someone came in complaining about an intense chest pain."
"Oh? Okay then." She proceeded out of her office after the announcement, though she wondered why she had to attend to the ER when she wasn’t even assigned there. Brushing the thoughts aside, she rushed to the emergency room because she knew how chest pains could lead to a more complicated situation for the patient.
She gasped at the sight after pulling the green curtain sideways. Because there, seated on the hospital bed, was no other than the man she has painfully yet bravely decided to let go of years ago. "Sasuke...kun."
Sasuke, on the other hand, simply gave her a blank yet meaningful stare, as if scrutinizing every single thing about her and taking in all the changes in her after how many years of not seeing each other.
But Sakura didn't let the previous astonishment get in the way of what she was really there for. When she came back to her professional senses, she immediately prepared to wear a stethoscope and paced towards her patient. She then asked, "What happened?"
There was, however, a long pause. And Sakura felt as if her galloping heart would explode the longer she heard the constant ticking of the clock behind her. "I need to know what happened so I could give y–"
"I realized I'm still in love with you, that's what happened."
She was frozen right then and there, with her stethoscope just a few inches away from Sasuke's supposed painful chest. Hesitating, she put her hand down and met his intent gaze. "W-what..."
Sasuke's eyes softened at the sight of the emerald orbs that he missed. He knew what he was there for, and he wasn’t gonna beat around the bush before anyone decides to call him again for a business meeting or what.
He cleared his throat, reaching out to gently grasp his doctor's hand. "This time, I hope the time is right. Sakura, would you allow me to court you again but with the intention of marrying you?"
With that, Sakura's pent-up tears for the past few years suddenly came rushing down her cheeks. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. But she knew those onyx eyes very well, and with the way they were staring back at her right now, she knew that there was no hint of lie in there.
Slowly, her lips formed a smile as she gave him a nod that made him smile back. "This time, I'm not letting you go."
And that was the beginning of their journey towards the now.
"It had to happen though. Or else we wouldn't be the man and woman that we are right now," Sakura acknowledged, still facing her husband in their dimly lit coffee shop. "There was no single day that I didn't miss you, Sasuke-kun. You remained my inspiration. I thought that as long as you're doing your best somewhere else, I ought to do my best wherever I was too."
The corner of Sasuke's lips twitched upwards. "And I never stopped loving you." He then lifted two fingers to lightly tap the pale forehead of his wife, a gesture Sakura knows all too well. "Even though I was successfully able to repress the emotion for so long, at the end of that long season, it still resurfaced above all the other things I preoccupied my mind with."
Sakura chuckled and enveloped Sasuke in an embrace. "In the end, it's still you and me."
"Hn. And it all started in this place."
"Papa! Mama!"
The couple's attention was suddenly caught by their little girl as she ran towards them with her hands seemingly clutching something behind her.
"Hey, Sarada!" Sakura stepped off the bar stool and leaned down to Sarada's level with Sasuke following suit. "Are your homeworks done?"
Sarada nodded as she smiled sheepishly at her parents. "I've just finished my gift."
Her father arched an eyebrow in wonder. "Gift?"
"Here! Happy Anniversary, Mama and Papa!" Sarada exclaimed happily as she held out her hand, revealing a paper with a drawing that was far better than her old sketches of stick people.
Her mother beamed as she received the said gift. "Aww! Thank you, dear! This is so nice!" She affirmed while scanning Sarada's drawing of their family.
Sasuke did the same beside Sakura and slowly smiled at their daughter. "Thank you, Sarada. It's beautiful."
The youngest Uchiha grinned in delight. She was glad that her parents liked her surprise gift. She almost thought she wouldn't be able to finish it within the day since her Papa was with her a while ago. "You're welcome!"
"Hmm. Why is there a fourth figure here though?" Sakura asked her daughter as her eyes trailed over the figure of a little boy with black hair and green eyes beside Sarada in the drawing.
Sarada bit her lip as her parents stared at her. Scratching the back of her head, she answered, "I...I was thinking that...maybe...Papa can give you a...younger brother as a gift?"
With that, Sasuke suddenly looked away while seemingly choking on his own spit.
Then, Sakura went home alongside her husband and daughter with a drawing in hand and a very red face after that.

This one left me exhausted after writing. Caution, long and angsty post ahead. (Sorry for demonizing Sasuke, but he really is kind of a scumbag.)

Kakashi’s Kunoichi Part V of VI
It’s the night before the weekend. Sakura comes home from work early after such long, tiring stretch of days. Excited and still in her nurse's robe, she slips out of her shoes and went inside. A nice, delicious smell greets her from the kitchen and sees her daughter busy cooking.
“Aaaahh,” Sakura stretches her arms in the air, “the miso soup smells amazing!”
“Welcome home, Mama.” Sarada greets. The warm sunset shines from the kitchen window, soaking the house with a relaxing, golden glow.
“You’re early today, dear.” Sakura proceeds to help prepare the table. “Aren’t you supposed to be training?”
“Shishou dismissed me early,” she replies, “he told me I need plenty of rest for tomorrow’s mission.”
“Mission??” The mother exclaims, intrigued.
“Mhm!” Sarada nods as she sits on the chair. “I’ll be joining Boruto and Mitsuki for a C-rank mission.”
Feeling a bit of a bad hunch, she further asks, “I suppose Kakashi will be your assigned captain, then?” Sakura munchs on a small piece of fish, hiding her uneasiness.
“Are you joking, Mama, of course it’s Konohamaru-sensei!” Sarada chuckles. “But shishou asked him to take me with them, even though I’m still a genin,” she continues, catching the ball of rice with her mouth to keep it falling from the chopsticks.
“It will be perfect to show them my improvements, too!” she added with a mouthful, muffled voice.
“I see,” she agrees. Perplexed with the news. What the hell is he planning now?
“See, Mama? Shishou trusts my strength that much!” The young lady brags casually.
Sakura fell silent with food bulging on one side of her cheek, lost in her own thoughts.
“Mama?? Are you okay? Is the food bad?”
“No, no. It’s delicious!” Sakura swallows her food and shrugs off her thoughts. She grits her teeth, trying to hide it with a chuckle. “Do your best, okay?”
* * *
After dinner, Sarada heads straight to her room and finishes preparing her stuff for tomorrow’s mission. “Mama, I’ll sleep now!”
“Good night, dear!” Sakura shouts back from the kitchen, wrapped in an apron while washing the dishes. She hears her daughter's bedroom slide its door shut and a light switch flicks off. Sakura sighs, feeling uneasy without her daughter's presence. As if almost comparable to being naked and vulnerable.
The evening feels awfully long so Sakura decides to spend a relaxing time on the couch with a cup of tea. Their home is so silent but her mind is filled with loud thoughts about that night. Ever since then, she looks at this very couch with contempt. Reliving Kakashi's touch on her face each moment she sits.
Several moments pass until she ends up getting bored. Sakura stands up and goes to her room to get Kakashi’s erotic novel. Stored inside a drawer, she picks it up dusty and webbed, untouched for a month or so.
She looks at the publication on her hand, wondering why Kakashi loves such a thing; constantly reading it over and over since it was first released. Sakura runs her thumb to every crease and wrinkle that formed in time. It's old, but it's apparent that it is well taken care of.
Before she can open the first page, a knock on the door made her fold it back tight in a flash. Startled, she immediately buries it in the sheets of the bed and rushes outside to meet the person waiting on their doorway.
Sliding it open, in her surprise she found a familiar dog sitting at the entrance.
“Pakkun?” She welcomes him, confused. Crickets chirping in the background.
“Sakura-san, sorry for barging in late.” The ninken motioned her to grab the last scroll fastened on his back. She nods and complies.
“I was asked to send these over to that Konohamaru brat and his team,” Pakkun explains. "The scroll contains last minute intel for their mission tomorrow. You heard about that, right?"
“Yes, I've heard,” she replies. "I’ll just leave this in my daughter's room. Thank you, Pakkun.”
“Great,” he stands on four feet ready to head off. “Oh and one more thing,” the dog raises a paw to weave a ninken seal and a small ball of smoke puffs in between them.
Sakura picks up a piece of paper laying flat on the floor, showing itself under the fading smoke. She looks back at Pakkun with a face telling what the hell is this? Before she can verbally say anything, Pakkun answered.
“It’s an urgent message from Kakashi.”
* * *
Sakura steps out from the shower and slips in to her pajamas. The scroll Pakkun delivered is in Sarada's bedroom, placed over a desk, together with a picture frame holding the Uchiha family photo.
Strands of pink hair drape over her shoulders as she gets in bed, carefully eyeing the piece of paper she placed above her nightstand. An urgent message, huh? She rolls her eyes, ignoring his petty schemes and continues to shuffle in bed, wiggling her body to find a nice spot to lay, trying to get comfortable. As her body gets buried deeper in the sheets, her elbows touched something. She fishes it out from the thick, white layers of fluff and pulled a green, dusty old book. Oh jeez, I forgot about this.
With her curiosity peaking, she finally decides to open the book and saw an old picture of the original Team 7 revealing itself in between pages. She pulls it out, wrinkled at the corners. It seems to be used as a bookmark for quite a while. Naruto, Sasuke, and herself in their early twenties. Kakashi, in his hokage cape, joins them with his smiling face just above hers. This must have been the last time her team was together. Sakura took her time to reminisce.
She pinched the photo in between two fingers and held it out above her face. Smiling alone in bed, with all the good memories filling her thoughts. As the photo hovers against the light from the ceiling, she notice a scribble written at the back of it. Instinctively, she flips it over and saw a note. Squinting through the smudged ink, it reads:
Take care of Sakura.
Her heart pumped fast and heavy as she discovers that the photo is actually not Kakashi’s, but rather, his husband’s. She is more than sure that this is Sasuke’s handwriting. Her head spins with this sudden revelation, not wanting to believe what’s infront of her, she can feel herself being lightheaded. What is this?
As she’s able to move again after being frozen in terror, Sakura snatched the folded piece of paper from the nightstand and opens it, trembling and with force.
Thanks for the lunch, Haruno.
Out of habit, she flips it on the other side.
Let’s talk soon.
* * *
Sakura wakes up the next morning, dehydrated with tired and heavy eyes. She must have blacked out while crying herself to sleep. Lifeless, she walks to the kitchen to fetch herself a glass of water.
“Here.”
She opens her weary eyes halfway and sees a hand in a black glove, with silver plate covering the knuckles. It conveniently passes her a glass of water.
Wait a minute..
Her eyes shot open. Startled, she sees Kakashi in her kitchen, masked, wearing his usual black gear.
“How the hell did you get in!?” With an angry tone, airy words came out of her mouth as she tries to shout while whispering, avoiding to wake her daughter up.
“Drink some water, Sakura.” Kakashi calmly replies, still handing her the glass.
“No!” Sakura runs her fingers through her hair in exasperation. Then immediately crossing her arms to hide her exposed nipples, puckering from her thin night garments.
“It’s way too early, Kakashi, get out of my house.”
“Spend the day with me,” he replies. His deep gaze meeting hers.
“Are you out of your damn mind!?” This time she erupts, blurting loudly. Irritated with his constant pestering. In a snap she realizes that her voice was way too loud, and automatically shushed herself.
“My daughter.. might.. see you.. here!” She mouthed the words, each phrase stressed in frustration.
“Sarada’s already gone for their mission,” Kakashi steps near to her, glass still in one hand. “Now drink this and calm down.”
Sakura’s remaining thread of patience snaps in half, she pulls her arm back and throws a concentrated punch straight to his body. Kakashi stops her raging fist with one palm, matching her chakra ratio. Both of them felt a muted impact against their connecting hands.
He then carefully placed the glass over the counter top, preparing himself for another possible attack.
“What are you doing here?” She grits her teeth in anger.
“I'm asking you to spend the day with me.” He answered with the same, calm and sincere plea.
“Why are you doing these!?” Her next question came mighty, roaring.
Sakura throws another monstrous punch, which again is caught by Kakashi’s palm, cursing under his breath from her brute strength. The impact shot greater and the furniture around them clink to each other.
“Stop it!” her blood boils. “Stop this, Kakashi, I’m married!”
“Sakura--”
“Stop fathering my daughter!!” Yelling, her words echoed to the empty walls.
Kakashi sighs closing his eyes, concentrating in holding the situation under control. The moment she had the book in her possession, he knew that this is all bound to happen.
He tries to push both Sakura’s arms down, resting them to her sides. He steps further near her until his clothed chin connects with her lowered forehead. The pink haired lady sobs, trembling, desperate to break free from Kakashi’s grip.
Both of them fell silent, trying to rest from the tension.
Finally, Sakura blurts. “The photo.. that is Sasuke-kun's handwriting, isn’t it?” Jewels of tears brimming her eyelids.
“Yes.” He let out a deep sigh before continuing. “The whole thing was a top secret mission..”
“What?” she whimpers, unable to follow his words.
He gulps. “It was a mission that only Sasuke and I knows about.”
“What is!?” she screams, her voice cracking with every cry. Kakashi held on to her arms tighter to suppress her movements.
“Your marriage, Sakura.”
“Huh?” As if she have not heard him right the first time.
“It was only a mission to revive the Uchiha clan.”
Only? She can feel her knees going weak with every word coming from his mouth. Kakashi felt her stance wobbling. Despite his uncertainty of revealing more, he decides to push through.
“I was still Hokage that night when Sasuke suddenly appeared in my office. He told me about his wishes to revive his clan, treating it like a goal that he needs to accomplish.”
Sakura weeps silently, joints weak, still listening. Her arms are completely out of force, hanging dead on her shoulders. Kakashi observes her for a second to check how she’s holding up before he continued.
“Between you and Karin, he chose you, Sakura. He wanted you to be the rightful mother of his child. So as Hokage I ordered a mission for your marriage, and he complied out of duty.”
She stays silent, brooding, until she whispers, “No. Sasuke-kun married me because our feelings are connected.”
“He married you because the Uchiha bloodline had to continue. We both know that Sasuke is not capable of love.” He sighs again. “You felt that from the start, didn’t you?”
“No..” Her cries grew louder. “You’re lying!”
“I’m sorry, Sakura. I only wanted to protect you. I thought you’d be happy..”
“You’re lying!!” Her knees resigned and she fell to the floor. Kakashi catches him to minimize the drop. Gently, he eased them down together, flopping their legs to the cold wooden ground. She’s bawling her eyes out, repeatedly slapping her weak palms against Kakashi’s chest.
“This is not real! You’re lying!”
Her words felt like kunais sabotaging her mouth. Sakura cries upon recollecting the hundreds of memories she tucked away from her mind. She knows damn well that Sasuke never saw her as she is. They fucked hot and hard many times, but never made love. Leaving her alone in bed after every climax. He had always dismissed her, even colder when Sarada was born. But with all the love she had for him, she shrugs it off, blindly letting it all happen. Silent, not uttering a single word, bottling up everything in her heart.
Kakashi is excruciatingly pained in seeing her like this. He let go of control and wraps her tightly around his arms. She wants to break free but is too weak to do so.
“Sasuke asked me to look after you.." He sighs. She's sobbing deep from her lungs. “..you and your daughter.” Kakashi’s emotions are starting to get the best of him. He feels his throat constricting. “When you had Sarada, he realized that he wasn’t capable of being a husband nor a father, so he entrusted everything to me and dedicated his life in saving the world.”
She whispers weakly, flat and lifeless. “So.. you’re doing all these.. because of duty.. as well..”
“No.. Sakura..” Forestalling her next thoughts., he tightens his embrace and buried his face deep to her neck, suppressing his tears. “I know this is a top secret mission but..”
“I’m doing these because I want to.. because I care about you.. so much.”
“That photo reminds me everyday of how much I regret that decision. I should have stopped him that night. I could have prevented you ending up in this broken marriage. I fucked up, Sakura. But I knew how much you loved him and I thought everything will work out in the end.”
“Sakura.. I know I can never make you mine but.. at this point.. after seeing you cry that night.. I promised myself that if there’s anything I can do in my power to make you happy, then whatever it takes, I’ll do it.”
She lifts her arms slowly, resting both palms over Kakashi’s shoulders. Her fingers crawled to ring his neck, grazing her thumbs against his cheeks, then lowers them down to feel his chest. Using every remaining ounce of strength she have, Sakura feebly pushed his body away. Her neck appears to be damp with his tears.
He willingly complied with her actions, not knowing what to say and how to continue.
The silence is deafening every time they shut their mouths. Finally, she uttered in a small, powerless voice what felt like words stabbing through his heart.
“Kakashi.. please.. leave..”

Kirigakure
Notthatflawless
Sasuke wasn't a man of words, nor was he a man of blatant affection, or affection at all. He never showed interest in dating or marriage or romance. He'd always believed it wasn't in his cards. The only interest he'd shown in sex was for reproduction. And Sakura was always his number one candidate for such things, because her obvious feelings and almost idiotic attachment toward him. So that's how it went, he produced an heir with Sakura, left to travel on his own, and eventually came back.
Once he was back, he'd sensed something interesting at Naruto's house. It was Boruto, the Uzumaki heir. His spawn with the Hyuuga princess. The same girl that almost ended the world, but saved it in the end. Sasuke faintly remembered rescuing that girls father before he almost succumbed to death. He sputtered something about his daughter and the "prophecy" before passing out once more.
Here Sasuke was, six months after arriving back in Konoha. He was training Naruto's spawn, and during that time, Sasuke to escort Naruto's candy-wife to Kirigakure. She would take Naruto's place in a meeting with the Mizukage, as she often did. But there was talk of danger outside of Konoha.
Before that escort mission, Sasuke hadn't ever felt close to crying over not getting what he wanted, it wasn't realistic. Now, he wanted to kick and scream, but he couldn't. He wouldn't. Sasuke was married. Sasuke was the last pure blooded Uchiha, and crying over a girl was prohibited. Infedelity was also prohibited. Moreso than anything on this list, along with divorce.
He'd found himself going to the Uzumaki residence for no reason other than to catch a glimpse of the hardworking housewife.
Sasuke was never going to admit any of these thoughts out loud, and he never had to. He had no obligation to.
It was his own piece of mind that belonged to him, as most of his other thoughts did. Sakura began to quit pestering him about what was on his mind, and it became bliss to imagine a life with the Hyuuga mother. Otherworldly, it was, to imagine fucking the brains out of the docile Hyuuga mother, who was inadequate compared to his own wife. In fighting at least. Sasuke heard Naruto ramble on about how good his wife was in the bedroom. Saying things like "it's always the reserved ones that'll surprise you".
Sakura, Sasuke learned, was a bit of a dominatrix. Which was almost embarrassing.
Sasuke stuffed his fist in his pocket, standing stiffly in the entrance of the Uzumaki household. Boruto wasn't even home, he was in Suna with the Nara's kid. But Naruto invited Sasuke over for dinner at his home, along with Sasuke's wife.
The door opened a few seconds after he reluctantly pressed the doorbell. Sasuke's wife could sense the tension building in him, but she said nothing and stuck to observing.
Her emerald eyes roamed over his figure as he stepped inside ahead of her, following behind her daughter. "Good evening, Sasuke, Sakura." Hinata smiled up at the adults who entered her home. Her eyes shifted to the young girl at Sasuke's side. "How are you, Sarada?" Her kind eyes made the young girl grow red from embarrassment.
"I'm okay. Thank you for inviting us to dinner." She said quietly, pushing the glasses further up her nose. Himawari came down the steps seconds later and ushered the older girl back up to her room.
Sasuke and Sakura gave their greetings to the young mother, and walked into the dining room where Naruto was placing the table. "Oi, Sasuke, Sakura-chan! Thanks for coming!" The Hokage smiled brightly at them, hugging the pinkette, and patting his best friend on the shoulder.
"Thanks so much for inviting us, you guys."
Sakura said, a polite smile toward the obviously exhausted mother with batter on her apron. Sakura understood the feeling of an inadequate husband in the kitchen. "Do you want some help, Hinata?"
Hinata complied to her offer.
Sasuke's eyes flicked back to his wife standing in the kitchen, and to the shorter woman beside her. Her long, ink-like hair dangling behind her, tied in a low pony tail. It looked like light could get trapped in the strands, it was so dark. "Oi, are you listening?"
Sasuke glared at his best friend. Naruto had won with this one. He'd found the one woman Sasuke had ever fantasised about, and stole her.
Sasuke remembered how the navy-ink in her hair shone under the flickering of a campfire under the stars. The hellfire reflecting in her silk-like tendrils.
Her opal eyes, and milky skin... Sasuke visibly shivered as he watched the Hyuuga standing at the sink in her kitchen.
Naruto continued to ramble throughout the night, and Sakura seemed to be doing the exact opposite. Her green eyes followed his own, and just about any other move he made. But Sasuke couldn't care less about what went through her thick head, or what she'd figure out by observing him. She had always known that he would never desire her like she wanted him to. She knew the night they created their child, that she would never be his endgame. She was a piece on his board. Necessary, but less individually important to him. Sakura's light would always be dim to Sasuke. The twinkle of the stars was more prominent to him than the sun shining, in his life.
He preferred Hinata's light, Sakura realized that night. Hinata had single-handedly plucked his affections right away from Sakura. The almost invisible smirk that grew on his lips when Hinata made a joke, it was confirmation to her. She'd never seen him smile.
She'd never been able to get him to smile. It was always beyond her capabilities. Why?
The pinkette frowned, but continued on as if nothing had just happened. Hinata would always be her friend, no matter what went on in Sasuke's head.
Sakura found her eyes wandering over the Hyuuga's features. Her pale eyes would flicker toward Sasuke every now and then, but it wasn't as prominent as it was for Sasuke. He'd openly stare at her.
Hinata was conflicted over her thoughts on Sasuke, Sakura discovered. What changed between the pair?
Why were they so.. infatuated?
Sakura lowered her eyes to her plate, the delicious food suddenly looking nauseating. "Excuse me," she stood holding a napkin to her lips. She ran to the bathroom, and heaved up her food within seconds.
Hinata stood, her compassion shining as she looked through the cabinets for ginger tea to calm Sakura's stomach.
In one night, everyone's lives in that house were rocked. With one check inside Sakura's abdomen with an advanced Byakugan, that red chakra flaring up in her belly. That Kyuubi chakra, flickering around inside her like a disease..
Hinata looked at her husband, with wide, opal eyes. She'd been utterly betrayed, and never knew about it.
Out of concern for one of her best friends, she finds out that her husband has been cheating.
That little red flicker soon grew into it's third trimester. And came out with bubblegum hair and big, blue eyes. Two small whiskers dawned the babies cheeks.
That love-child caused an emotional earthquake in everyone's lives in the village.
And it was revealed after her birth that Sakura and Naruto conceived her the first day Sasuke was escorting Hinata to Kirigakure.

The Scroll (pt 1)
Part Fifteen of Ninja Dorks Flailing at Interpersonal Relations
Emotions are running high in this chapter!
One | Previous
FIFTEEN
"What the fuck?" Sakura wrenched her hand from Sasuke's grasp.  "You didn’t ask me if we should get married.  Where did you come up with this idea?"
The only reaction was the slight crinkling of Sasuke's brow.  "You mentioned it this morning."  He turned away from her and to the village leader.  "You'll have to excuse her."
Sakura gasped as her belly burning with embarrassment and humiliation.  The only thing that kept her from punching Sasuke to the next mountain was the light shade of pink his face was turning.
"Maybe you two need to talk it out."  Yasuo frantically shooed away a group bringing a platform to the front of the crowd
“That’s not necessary,” replied Sasuke.  “Sakura has always wanted to marry me.”
The terrible truth of his statement pushed Sakura to her breaking point.   Not wanting to have the argument in the middle of the village, Sakura lunged for Sasuke.  He grunted in surprise as she threw wrapped her arms around his midsection.  She channeled her chakra down her legs as she crouched down.  Sasuke was half-tossed over her shoulder as she gave a terrific leap into the air.
The village shrunk to meaningless dot as Sasuke's cloak whipped around them.  She let go of Sasuke when the cloak wrapped around her head, but she kept a steady hand on them as the approached the surface of the adjacent mountain.  They landed in tandem on the cliffside and separated to face each other.
"Was that necessary?"  Sasuke tugged at the cloak around his shoulder to straighten it.
"You don't want to have this conversation in public," Sakura said as she resisted the urge to stamp her foot.  "Why did you think I wanted to get married?"
"You were talking about it this morning."
"Yes!  Because I was talking about Naruto's wedding.  I wasn’t asking to elope with you!"
Sasuke furrowed his brow. "I don’t understand why you are so upset.  You said the only thing that you needed at your wedding was the man you are going to marry."
Sakura clasped her hand together and brought them to her chest.  "I said that it was the only thing I needed at my wedding, but I want more than that, Sasuke!"
Sasuke huffed. "You should make up your mind."
"Sasuke, I don't want to marry you!"
The scream echoed in the empty mountainside and Sakura hoped that it didn't carry far enough to that they could hear it in the village.
Sasuke furrowed his brow in confusion.  "What?"
Sakura threw her hands up into the air.  "Sasuke... we can't get married.  You’re not ready to be married.  You came up with the idea because of Naruto.   And I’m not going to be a part of your stupid friendship where you always try to one-up each other.  I thought you learned your lesson when you lost your arm!”
Sasuke drew back in anger and Sakura knew she had pushed him too far.  "I'm the one that suggested we get married.  You're the one that opposes the idea."
The only warning Sakura had was a small spike of chakra before Sasuke vanished.  Angry, Sakura tossed her pack against the cliff wall and then marched over to join it.  The sun had only been in the sky for a couple of hours and it was already burning at her skin.  She sat down once next to her pack in the shaded area.  "It figures that he would leave now."  She punched the rock next to her and turned it into dust.
What was she going to do? Was Sasuke coming back for her? Did he just need some time to cool off before he would return?  How long should she wait for him?
Sakura had not hesitated when Sasuke asked her to join him on his travel, happy that they were on the same page.  Sakura had imagined her relationship with Sasuke a hundred times.  She had dreamt of bringing Sasuke over to her parents’ house for dinner.  She imagined chatting with Ino as they picked out flowers for the bouquet.  She had visions of an incredibly smashed Tsunade in the corner of their small wedding reception.  She had never imagined getting married in the middle of a mountain town with little warning and no friends.
Sasuke said he was ready to married Sakura, but it didn’t feel like it.  It was impossible to deny the feelings she had for Sasuke, but she was tired of waiting for him.  She tired of feeling alone even when she was in his company.  Yes, he had returned to the village specifically for her.  He had kissed her, but he had yet to say he loved her. He rarely initiated conversation with her, leaving Sakura with the pressure of filling the silence, carefully choosing her words in his presence.  The one time Sakura spoke unrestrained caused Sasuke to run off rather than hearing to her words.
Naruto would have pestered her until she was forced to admit what was bothering her.  Ino would have invited her to go out and Sakura would have shared her story willingly.  Kakashi would have...
Sakura bit her tongue. It was unfair to compare Kakashi and Sasuke to each other, and she had done her best to dismiss any thoughts of Kakashi after Pakkun’s scolding.  But she missed him.  She missed his bed.  She missed waking up with a snoring dog at her feet as stood in the bedroom doorway to call her to breakfast.  She missed sitting on his couch as she watched TV while he read a book next to her for companionship.  She admired his commitment and his selflessness.   He gave nothing less than everything for the village.
Sakura dug into her belongings searching for the scroll Kakashi had sent, eager for a reminder of home.  Her fingers traced over the wax seal, her finger catching in the bite mark left behind by Pakkun's teeth.  Trembling, Sakura broke the seal and unfurled the scroll.  A small note fell out, and Sakura lifted it to read.
Konoha will always be your home when you are ready to come back.  Take care.
Yours,
Kakashi
Sakura crinkled the note in her hand, hating the disappointment blooming in her chest because of her own greed.  Thanks to Tsunade and Pakkun, Sakura had begun to think there might have been something between two of them.  She had built up the message in her head into some grandiose statement only to be met with more disappointment.
Kakashi was a man, someone who had a lifetime of grief before she was even born.  What would he want with a silly girl like her, someone who had run off her with her childhood crush because she couldn’t see beyond the stars in her eyes?
Foolish
Sakura dug through her belongings for a water bottle when Sasuke reappeared.  Sakura returned the half-opened scroll in her bag.  “Where did you go?”
“I had to return to the village to tell them there wasn’t a ceremony,” Sasuke replied.  “It was humiliating.”
“Join the club.” Sakura wiped the tears off her face and took a long drink of water before speaking.  “Sasuke, why do you want to marry me?”
“You’re strong and you can take care of yourself.  You’ve always wanted to be with me.  I never have to worry about you if we are apart.”  He shrugged.  “Since Naruto was getting married I thought it was our time.”
“I see.”  And Sakura did.
Back in Konoha, Sai was constantly reading psychology books so he could be with Ino.  Shikamaru was studying treaties and navigating a political minefield so he could be with Temari.  Sasuke loved her enough to marry her, but not enough to want to take care of her.  He wanted to give her a relationship but didn’t understand the responsibilities of being in one.  Would he ever be ready?
Looking at his face, at his cool compose expression, she wasn’t certain.  He was so calm while her longest-held dream fell apart.
“Sasuke, this isn’t working.”
“I don’t understand. Why does it matter when we get married when this is what you have always wanted?”
“Sasuke, you want to marry me because of Naruto, because I’m a convenient choice because I can stand on my own two feet.  But you there was only one answer that you needed to say, and that is because you love me.”  Sakura pressed her hands against her mouth to hold back her sob, squeezing her eyes shut. “Sasuke, you didn’t even think about saying it.”
“You don’t want me.” Sasuke placed his hand on his sword and Sakura tensed before she realized the only fidgeting.  “Am I not enough?”  For the first time, she saw his confidence waiver.
Sakura turned her back to him, unable to bear the hurt expression on his face.  She could no longer hold back her tears as she began to sob in earnest.  Through it, she waited for Sasuke’s to reach for her, to feel his hand on her back, to hear his voice.  She only cried harder by his absence.
Sakura was able to speak again when her body wrung dry of tears.  Sasuke had sat down during her breakdown on a nearby rock, pulling at a thread on the bottom of his shirt.  Sakura returned the empty water bottle in her bag.
“Sasuke, I’m the greatest medic-nin in the world.  My place is in a hospital, where I can make medical advancements so every country can benefit.  I understand why you’re out here, I really do, but I belong in Konoha.  If I were to ask you to live there with me, would you do it?”
Again, she was met with silence, but the minute reactions on Sasuke’s face told its own story.  He was finally catching on to her point.
“Konoha, the village, hasn’t felt like home in a long time, Sakura.”  His hand vanished under his cloak to rub at what remained of his left arm.
“I know.”  Sakura nodded her head, “I know.  I think I want more than what you want to give and it’s not fair to either of us.  One of us is always going to be disappointed.”
Sasuke gave a soft laugh. “I’m trying to remember a time when you didn’t have a crush on me.”
Sakura stood up to give him hug, her words muffled by his clothing.  “Idiot.  I don’t have a crush on you.  I love you. I think you’re brave and strong, and what you’re doing is incredible.  But we don’t belong together.”
“Can I ask for your help if I need it?”  Sasuke removed himself from his grasp.
“Of course,” replied Sakura as she gave him a soft smile, “but you won’t.”
Sasuke raised his hand, hovering in mid-air as he tried to decide what to do.  He finally settled for patting her on the shoulder as a goodbye. Sakura turned away, grabbed her things, and used the body flicker technique to leave Sasuke before she lost her courage.  She wasn’t going to watch him walk away this time.

queen-geee replied to your post “@queen-geee These answer your question. As for everyone else Is this...”
That is an assumption because he even said that naruto changed him! And if he only retains some aspects of his former ideals which ones did he retain and which ones did he not? You don't know so you can't hear canon that he's trying to reform his clan your still wrong He didn't keep some of his former ideals that is a big headcanons you have no proof of that he never wanted to be shadow hokage that's basically what naruto appointed him
I said he was reformed and free of hatred that’s why his ideals about being a shadow hokage has changed drastically. He didn’t change his stance about being the shadow hokage right? He didn’t change the fact that he will “rule” from the shadows right?
As you said, his hatred is the one prompting him for his ideals to drastically change the shinobi world.
He wants to gather all hate and focus them on himself. He wants everyone to unite against him.
He will rule everything in the shadows.
That’s the list so far. So let’s check how that has changed after Naruto defeated him.
He is defeated and gave up on his revolution.
He wants to atone for his sins.
He wants to protect the village from the shadows.
He is essentially the Shadow Hokage because of the above and thus “rule” from the shadows.
Naruto didn’t appoint him to it. Fact.
Those are not headcanons and I am not wrong on that reformation. Did you see him pester Sakura to follow tradition with the fire release? Did you see him do the same to Sarada?  Did you see him changing his stance about wearing the crest? No? So then, stop with the headcanons.
Since we’re on the subject of assumptions. Let me remind you of the following statements you said:
Yo I’m crying at that hinata and naruto are more capable of wearing the uchiha crest without shame 😭😭😭😭
All kishi did was let sakura wear the crest that STILL doesn't make her an uchiha any poser can wear a crest hinata isn't an uzumaki sai isn't a yamanaka and temari isn't a nara like why do you find this so hard to understand? And how does Sasuke beg to differ? He doesn't even where the crest anymore he doesn't give a shit about sakura or what she does he has his own mission to worry about
are you dumb?? We're talking about CLANS!!!! SAKURA ISN'T APART OF THE UCHIHA CLAN SHE CANT EVEN DO A SIMPLE FIREBALL JUTSU this isn't coming from me this is from the original manga that the original Arthur wrote! This came from the head of the uchiha clan HIMSELF you can say whatever you want but in CANON sakura isn't an uchiha she can have the last name that's her right as a married women but that does not make her a TRUE uchiha she doesn't have the uchiha blood running through her
what do you mean it doesn't change facts? That manga panel is a fact the panel came BEFORE gaiden and that OP blocking you is not my problem they still served you facts on a plate with that manga panel sasuke dad was the head of the clan he ran the clan! He makes the rules for the clan so your gonna disregard what he says? Just so sakura can be a uchiha in your eyes?
Please sakura is not a real uchiha get over it, It's not that big of a deal that's the worst of your worries about this ship lol
That's not what the uchiha clan cares about though just because sakura is strong doesn't mean they would want her in the clan there's a lot of strong shinobi that doesn't mean they would just allow them all in the clan!
The uchiha clan never gave a fuck about the hokage are you dumb they wanted to do a coup to get rid of the people in office that's the reason there dead! Please read the manga they never cared about getting closer to 'the seat of power' they just wanted to be treated fairly like every other clan in the leaf village
also,  SASUKE NEVER STATED THAT SAKURA WAS APART OF THE UCHIHA CLAN can you show me where he said that? Sasuke doesn't even seem to care about the crest anymore because he doesn't wear it himself so if he doesn't care for it would he really care if sakura wears it?
Madara and obito were gone when they decided the coup and the ONLY reason sasuke wanted the position was to change the shinobi system and sasuke NEVER made sakura wear the crest can you stop wth the headcanons?
And madara and obito wanting to be hokage doesn't mean the WHOLE CLAN cared about the hokage or government officials
when you can give me facts FROM THE MANGA then I'll listen to your argument but right now your stating head canons your just assuming everything your assuming sasuke made sakura wear the crest or take his last name she COULD'VE said no
Your assuming that the uchiha's cared about the hokage when clearly they didn't they just wanted to be treated equally your assuming that sasuke marrying sakura would get the clan closer to the seat of power but news flash they were one of the most powerful clans in the leaf!
I'm not contradicting myself your saying it like the WHOLE uchiha clan waned to be hokage or wanted someone in there clan to be hokage that's far from the truth only because 3 people in there clan wanted to be hokage doesn't mean it matter to the rest of the clan because it DIDN'T the uchiha's just wanted to be treated equally THATS IT!!!
Also if sasuke wearing the crest would make him a target wouldn't it be the same with sakura and sadara wearing the crest? If he REALLY cared he WOULDN'T want sakura or his daughter to wear the crest even in boruto didn't sakura tell sadara not to show her sharingan because that would make her a target but sakura dumbass got the child wearing fucking uchiha crests everywhere she goes and sakura does the same!
And where is that stated in the MANGA??? I've never seen a panel that even suggested that only madara obito and sasuke wanted to be hokage but they don't make up the whole clan so you saying that the WHOLE uchiha clan wanted to be closer to the seat of power is false because out of the whole clan only three people wanted to be hokage
What do you mean what I'm talking about? Just because they live in a village doesn't mean they are safe from attacks if they were sakura wouldn't have asked sadara not to use her sharingan
She stated that in boruto! And boruto is canon
It is canon just because you don't believe it is doesn't mean it's not and that's besides the point all of this is distracting to the real reason why were arguing the uchiha's don't care about hokage sasuke marrying sakura wouldn't necessarily make the uchiha get closer to the seat of power they were already one of the most powerful clans next to the hyuga's and sasuke never forced sakura to wear the crest also sakura is not a REAL uchiha
But the uchiha didn't do the coup to become hokage THEY WERE SICK OF THE RACISM FROM THE LEAF VILLAGE!!!! They wanted to be shunned from the village that doesn't mean they wanted 'a seat of power'
Sasuke didn't give sakura the crest!!!!!! WHERE DID YOU SEE THAT HE GAVE IT TO HER?!?!!? There is no proof of that! The proof is that sakura is married to sasuke and she carries his last name but shes not a true uchiha and once again that's not coming from me that's coming from the former head of the clan HIMSELF!!!!!!! She can wear the crest all she wants but she's wearing it IN SHAMEEEEEE!!!!!
And do you really believe that sasuke marrying sakura would bring one of the uchiha's closer to becoming hokage? That's not true they shunned the whole clan and said the clan was deemed to be 'cursed by hatred' sakura marrying sasuke would've made that all go away? No if danzo and all the other government officials were still around they wouldn't want an uchiha to be hokage so sakura wouldn't have done shit for an uchiha to be hokage
She's wearing it in shame because she can't do a simple fireball jutsu that's a canon fact from the manga
She's wearing the crest because she WANTS to when did sakura ever really care for what sasuke wanted? She does what she wants sasuke a REAL uchiha doesn't even wear the crest anymore and you can say he doesn't wear it because that would put a target in his back but was that stated in canon material or one of your other headcanons?
Okay that still doesn't mean that the whole uchiha clan wanted one of there own to become hokage that's your own head canon you just think they did and the elders play a huge part into picking the next hokage the hokage can't just will who they want into power doesn't work that way
But that's what you believe but that doesn't make it true! Who are you to say that her reputation is enough to allow her to wear the crest? You are not apart of the clan!! YOU ARE NOT HEAD OF THE CLAN WHAT YOU WANT DOESN'T MATTER she will always be wearing the crest in SHAME because she can't do a fireball jutsu why are you disregarding CANON!!!!!!
Did I say the crest didn't matter? And when did sasuke ever let anyone wear the crest? He never did!! Not even sakura!!! Because we never seen him tell her she can wear it!!!!
And are you an uchiha? I didn't know you get a say in there clan business and what THEY decide what qualifies someone to be an uchiha or not because if you haven't read the manga the HEAD of the uchiha clan had already came up with a way to determine who would be worthy of   wearing the crest or not and what the head of the clan decided was that you have to be able to do a fireball jutsu to be able to wear the crest proudly
She can wear the crest I didn't say she can't BUT SHE IS WEARING THE CREST IN SHAME
YOUR the one disregarding canon because it's canon that you have to be able to do a fireball jutsu to be able to wear the crest proudly that's CANON even before gaiden came out !
And your right I have no say if her reputation is or isn't enough to allow her to wear the crest proudly because I'm not an uchiha just like you but the HEAD OF THE CLAN already determined that if someone can't do a fireball jutsu they can't wear the crest proudly so it doesn't matter what she does sakura does she could've even revive the whole clan for fuck sakes but if she can't do that fire jutsu she will ALWAYS wear the crest in shame
And that's the point! Sasuke dad already came up with the rules regarding the crest and sakura breaks them so that means she is wearing the crest in shame
Yes I can claim that because we never saw sasuke do it If we don't see if it's all just head canons
Your head canyoning that sasuke allowed her to wear the clan crest proudly but WE NEVER SEE THAT!
Also sasuke is now the head of the clan but when do we ever see sasuke refute his father words about wearing the crest proudly? He doesn't so you claiming that sasuke lets sakura wear the crest proudly is once again a head canon
You know what's not a head canon though? The head of the clan saying that if you can't do a fire ball jutsu you can't wear the crest proudly you know who can't do a fire ball jutsu? Sakura you know you can do a fire ball jutsu? Madara obito sasuke itachi to name a few and they are allowed to wear the clan crest proudly! Because they can do the fireball jutsu!
The ONLY thing I'm saying is sakura is wearing the crest in shame THATS not a head canon
No it's not a head canon because sasuke doesn't need to apply the rule because THE RULE WAS ALREADY APPLIED BY THE LAST CLAN LEADER!!!!!
The rule was already set in place before the genocide of the uchiha clan before so it applies to any new and up and coming uchiha's down the road only if sasuke lifts the rule but WE NEVER SEE HIM LIFT THE RULE so it's still canon that if you can't do the fireball jutsu you wear the crest in shame
Are you dumb? It's not a head canon because sasuke never lift the rule it's a rule WITHIN the clan why would anyone that's not an uchiha care about there rules it's there clan there business
I'm not saying sadara isn't an uchiha that's not sasuke dad said!!!!! He said if you can't do the fireball jutsu you are not a full fledge uchiha you wear the crest in shame so that means that sadara isn't a full fledge uchiha until she can do the fireball jutsu sorry I don't make the clan rules I'm just telling you the clan rules
Sasuke dad didn't reprimand him either he was telling him! That mean Sasuke dad allowed him to wear the crest but he still isn't a real uchiha just how sasuke allows his daughter to wear the crest but she's not a real uchiha until she can do the jutsu Sasuke dad doesn't beat him belittle him or anything he's just tell him that he will not be a full fledge uchiha until he can do the fire ball jutsu!
No you think that's a new canon!!! Just because you think it's a new canon doesn't actually make it a real canon you THINK he doesn't apply the rule anymore we never seen him lift it and if we never seen him lift that means the rule is still in affect
Now, read your statements again. I can clearly see many headcanons and assumptions here. The most prominent is Sakura wearing the crest in shame.
Where in the manga was that shown?
At any rate, I will properly break down this statements in a future reblog. I don’t have time for this yet.
If someone is kind enough to nitpick statements, be my guest.

Until the Day I Die
Chapter 2
Sakura woke the morning after the storm with her husband’s arm on her waist and his breath rushing against her skin as he held her to his chest. Turning her head a bit she looked at her sleeping lover and smiled a bit as she turned to look back out the window where there was a light drizzle today. She smiled at the sight of their entwined fingers where she could see their rings glinting in the morning. If this was a dream it was a lovely dream she didn’t want to wake from, she didn’t want to face her reality just yet. Because if she wasn’t married to Sasuke after a sensational dream like the one she had had last night then she would never be able to look him in the eye again.
If that had been a dream then she was asking Kakashi for a mission that would keep her out of the village for a while so she wouldn’t have to face Sasuke. True that was a coward’s move but she was a coward at heart and felt that she couldn’t face him ever again after that dream. She smiled a bit, she didn’t feel like moving or waking just yet as she closed her eyes again.
“Sakura,” he grumbled as he wrapped her up in a tight embrace that made her groan. This felt good, and real, and…
Her eyes snapped open then. Real, she rolled over and stared at the man who’s arm was on her waist as she sat up. Sakura glanced around the room, this wasn’t her place, and she could see those damn shoes Ino had bought her. Sakura grabbed a discarded shirt, pulled it on then wiggled out from under Sasuke’s grasp before she silently tiptoed down the stairs. There was a dress, she lifted up in her fingers, the silk feel made her think that perhaps last night wasn’t a dream but rather a reality. She looked at the slim ring on her finger and then wandered into the kitchen. When Sasuke woke she’d pester him with questions about yesterday.
If this was a dream she didn’t want to wake.
Looking through the fridge she pulled out what she needed to make an omelette and snagged some tomatoes for Sasuke. No doubt he’d want the tomatoes, no matter what the Uchiha was predictable where his tomatoes were concerned. At least that was constant, she thought bitterly as she beat the eggs. She stiffened when a set of arms slid around her middle and a chin rested on her shoulder. Sakura didn’t bother to look over her shoulder at her captor as she continued to beat the eggs.
“Sakura,” his indifferent voice had her glancing at him.
“Is this real Sasuke or are you just toying with me?” Sakura asked seriously.
“This is real, you’re mine, I’m here,” Sasuke replied as his lips brushed her pulse then. Sasuke grabbed a tomato and took a bite of it.
“No spoiling breakfast,” Sakura snapped at as she pulled away from him and took her cooking to the stove. Sasuke didn’t follow her as she started her cooking suddenly hands slide around to the buttons on her shirt.
“Sasuke!?” Sakura shrieked. He grinned against her skin as he pressed her lips against her pulse when his hands slid up to cup her breasts then. She just turned off the stove before smoke could start forming because it appeared her husband wanted something other than omelets and after the night they had had she wasn’t surprised that he was aroused again. The man seemed to have an unbelievable sexual appetite.
“Sakura,” he purred against her skin. Her head fell back as she moaned while his fingers continued to taunt her breasts as he held her against his chest. She turned her head to kiss his pulse, he growled a bit as she kissed him. Her body was pulsing and her knees went weak as she leaned against him, his hands never stopped what teasing her already sensitive breasts. How could he still want her? She wanted him again but she didn’t know what to think of this new side of her old teammate. This was Sasuke, he was not supposed to be like this because it was Sasuke.
“How are you still like this?” Sakura moaned. She felt his smirk, she didn’t even need to look at him to know he was smirking as his hands wandered down her stomach to her mound of darker pink curls. She just about collapsed when he teased that bundle of nerves between her legs.
“Damn it!” she hissed as she slumped against him. Her hands grabbed his arms so she didn’t fall to the kitchen floor. He pressed his lips to her temple then and she groaned as his fingers teased her. The devious bastard was driving her insane, as he toyed with her. She dug her nails into his forearms while he toyed with her, how was it that after all these years he could still drive her insane.
“Breakfast can wait,” he murmured in her ear, she felt his erection forming then. The man stopped toying with her then he spun her around, gripped her hips then as he lifted her up onto the counter. He kissed her as she brought his arms around his neck then, she moaned a bit when he pulled her hips forward and his hips rammed into hers. She screamed when he filled her, he attacked the mark he had inflicted on her as he started moving in a rough fast rhythm. Sakura’s head fell back as one of her hands gripped the counter then, she felt the edge break under her fingers as she arched against him.
How was this man so devious still as he brought a hand between them. Cheater, she groaned in reaction as her head fell against his shoulder. The pleasure was over taking her again as he quickened his rhythm. She desperately clung to him as she again lost herself into the sensations he ignited in her. His mouth was on hers again, she just sighed as she finally relaxed and again warmth filled her from his release.
“Morning,” he murmured softly as he brushed her hair aside.
“Morning,” Sakura breathed as she sat on the counter feeling sedated, relaxed, and wonderfully loose as she tried to catch her breath again. That definitely was not a dream, of that she was certain as she smiled at his Sharingan eyes. She wondered if he knew his Sharingan was activated at this moment as he rested his brow against hers’, probably not, she thought. Mostly because he wouldn’t activate it almost all the time when he made love to her or when he jumped her.
~~~*~*~*~~~
Sasuke broke the silence that lazy morning as he watched his wife who was reading a medical jutsu scroll then. She was absorbed in whatever she was reading, he wondered how he was going to tell her he was leaving at the end of this week on a mission for an unknown period of time. Sasuke was worried about how she’d handle this, it was possible she’d beat him to a bloody pulp. Her temper was unpredictable this way, he didn’t know how she’d feel about his upcoming departure.
But it was this impeding departure that had made him desperate to marry her. He couldn’t leave here if he didn’t have her to come back to because there was a very real possibility that he would not return. It wasn’t that he wasn’t loyal to the village or that he wasn’t loyal to Naruto and Kakashi but he had been a wanderer for a good long period of his life and he hadn’t had any roots since Itachi had murdered their family. He hadn’t had friends after Team 7 and even now his friendships were on unstable ground mostly because he hadn’t had friends for so long. It was odd to have companionship after years of relying on no one, and he did not count his time with Orochimaru or the Akatsuki or Team Taka as time with company or with friends. They were tools to get to his goals.
Now he was back in the village and he was reestablishing a few relationships. Naruto was still his best friend. Kakashi trusted him, though he knew his old sensei was watching over him. And he had a few relationships with the Rookie 9.
But it was his relationship with Sakura he had been pursuing, actively so she would trust him again. Though she didn’t completely trust him she did talk to him, she would spar with him, and she had been his primary doctor after the war. Granted her being his doctor was mostly because he scared the shit out of the other doctors in the hospital and no one wanted to get near him. It was as if he were a dangerous animal they didn’t know how to trust him; and he didn’t know how to trust them. He did know how to trust Sakura though, he could always trust Sakura. But she didn’t trust him, well that wasn’t true, she didn’t completely trust him.
There was still a part of her which was wary of him, he could see it because she would occasionally shy away from him or she would tense when he was near. But she hid those little indicators of her fear of him well, it was something that hurt him. Still he knew he had deserved her slight hesitation after all he had done to her, all the pain he had inflicted upon her. Honestly he was amazed that she would even stand near him after all that had happened. She of all the people he had betrayed in his life was the only one aside from Naruto who he had actively strived to break.
“Sakura,” he started. Her bright, happy eyes looked up to him, the happy emerald eyes which were looking right through him right then.
“Yeah?” she asked happily. His heart hammered away mercilessly at the honest joy he saw in those emerald eyes. He couldn’t break her again, not after finally having made her happy.
“Nothing,” he decided. He liked seeing her joy, he didn’t want that gone when he left a week from now. She just tilted her head to the side a bit as she studied him then she shrugged and went back to reading her scroll. There were things he’d deal with later because at this moment he would just enjoy her joy. It had been a long time since anyone had expressed joy about being around him and he didn’t want to lose that right now when he was happy to have her around and happy to be around him again.
“You do know you can trust me right?” Sakura asked when she rolled up her scroll then lay on top of his chest with a smile on her lips. He brought an arm around her and held her close to him then as he looked into those bright emerald eyes. It didn’t matter, Sakura could always read him like an open book and there had been times in his youth when she had read him so accurately he had done the opposite of what he intended just to prove she couldn’t read him. She was unusually perceptive and it was unnerving to him because he wasn’t used to being honest with people.
But he was married now and it would probably help his cause if he was completely honest with his wife. It would help their relationship and it would probably make him a better husband in the long run because he did not want her to ever fear him again.
“I have a mission I’m going on,” Sasuke said softly after the internal debate within himself.
“When?” Sakura asked, there was a sadness in those green eyes that he hadn’t wanted to see again. But it was inevitable. He was an ANBU member, and a jonin, and this mission was important, S-ranked too. And it was a favor because he was hunting a missing-nin who was equal in skill as he was and since this missing-nin was said to have the Sharingan it was though this guy was an Uchiha. Which was not possible, one because he was the only Uchiha, and two because he had witnessed the deaths of the others personally.
“End of the week,” he replied softly as he slid his fingers through her thick pink hair. She just bit her lip as she tilted her head into his touch. It was a small gesture but it meant everything to him, he didn’t think she even knew she had leaned into his touch as he looked at her sad green eyes.
“Did you know before we married?” Sakura asked in a whisper of a voice.
“Yes,” he came up to kiss her seal. She just tilted her chin back to look at him, he saw her green eyes flickered with a hint of sadness before she straddled his hips with a devious smile again.
“Then we had better enjoy what time we have,” Sakura decided. His hands rested on her thighs when he sat up and kissed her. Great Kami was this woman of his amazing. She just cupped his face as he kissed her.
“You had better come back Uchiha,” she whispered.
“I’ll come home,” he promised softly as he got to his feet with his wife’s legs wrapped around his hips as he carried her back into the house. They fell onto his futon, he made a mental note to buy a real bed now that he had a wife.
“I love you, Sasuke,” Sakura whispered when he pulled away from her mouth. He couldn’t say he loved her back because he didn’t know if he did. But he did care deeply about this small woman.
~~~*~*~*~~~
10 Weeks After Sasuke’s Departure…
Her eyes flew open, she rolled off her husband’s futon and ran to the bathroom. She slammed the door behind her out of habit as she wretch what minimal contents had been in her stomach out again. Gasping for breath she held herself over the toilet as she shoved her long bangs out of her face and shut her eyes. It was just worry, it was stress from worrying over her Uchiha as she sat there.
At first she had thought it was pregnancy but after numerous tests, a few blood tests, even Tsunade had tested her chakra that hope had been diminished; she wasn’t pregnant like she had hoped. She hadn’t gained weight and there was nothing odd going on in her life. But there was her missing husband who she hadn’t heard from for a while who she was worrying over.
“Morning Forehead!” Ino shouted as she walked into the bathroom.
“Hey Pig,” Sakura breathed as she kept her fingers tangled in her hair keeping it out of her face.
“So this morning, I went to Tsunade and she confirmed it! I’m pregnant!” the blonde looked ecstatic then as she sat on the rim of the tub. “Fourteen weeks, just like I thought. So are you still worrying about Uchiha?”
“What do you think?” Sakura sighed as she rolled to sit against the wall on the tile floor.
“You need to get over him, forehead, he’s not coming back. Even Naruto doesn’t think he’s coming back.” Sakura glared at her friend but didn’t argue with Ino because she knew Naruto was only worried about Sasuke about as much as she was. But Naruto also had a six month pregnant Hinata to worry about because Hinata’s pregnancy hadn’t been easy. Thinking of Hinata Sakura remembered she had a morning appointment with the future Hokage’s wife. Sakura was the only doctor Naruto trusted with Hinata so she was the appointed pysician of his wife
“He said he’d be back, he’ll be back, I’m just worried. There’s been no word from him in eight weeks. She was just worried.
“Oh, Temari is asking for you since she’s in labor,” Ino said absently.
“WHAT!?” Sakura ran into her room stripping out of Sasuke’s shirt as she began pulling on her clothes. She stopped at Sasuke’s picture briefly then ran out of the house dragging Ino after her since they had to go help their friend.
She ignored the slight dizziness and lightheaded she was feeling as she raced to the hospital, she also ignored how her stomach had yet to settle.

SasuHina - His Beauty and Her Beast Chap 3
So recently I haven’t been active in the SasuHina tag due to health reasons but I’m here now and back to doing what I love best! Writing my favourite OPT! So here’s chapter 3 and be prepared for more!
Hinata had woken up in her large bedroom before dawn, had a quick shower and was now busy in the kitchen tidying up. She was the first to wake up, which was hardly surprising she was more of a morning person and even back home she was always one of the first in the family to wake.
Hinata enjoyed cleaning watching the dusty surfaces turn to sparkling ones, seeing the silver taps shine with a bit of elbow grease brought a small triumphant smile to her face. Opening the first cupboard Hinata noticed that even though the doors had been closed the plates, cutlery and cups were all still covered in a layer of dust too. Filling up the deep basin with hot water and washing up liquid she placed as many plates, bowls and cups as she could fit in the water and began to empty out each cupboard.
That was how Sasuke found her, on all fours with her head in a cupboard making him pause at the sight.
“What are you doing?” Sasuke enquired, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Oh..Ow.” Hinata banged her head on the top of the cupboard being startled by Sasuke's sudden appearance. She really needed to be more alert. “I-I was just cleaning.” Hinata sat back on her knees and looked towards Sasuke at the door. “Um I hope you don't mind. It's just clearing out some of this out of date canned food and-”
“It's fine Hyuga.” Sasuke walked over to the stove and noticed a pot bubbling away on one of the hobs with a wooden spoon in.
“What is this?” He looked over at the Hyuga again.
“It's porridge. I-I didn't know what everyone liked for breakfast so I just made that. I bought a few basics from the store yesterday.”
Sasuke nodded his headed and using the wooden spoon and a bowl he saw on the drying rack, helped himself to the porridge. Sitting at the table he watched the Hyuga go back to cleaning with her head back in the cupboard. She looked different this morning with her hair tied up in a high pony tail and a few wisps of hair escaping the confines of the hair tie.
“Oh I'm starving!” Naruto bounded into the kitchen. “Please tell me there's food.”
Sasuke tried not to shudder at the loud noise his friend created and went back to stirring his porridge to cool it down.
Hearing Naruto greet Hinata cheerily Sasuke took a tentative mouthful of the porridge and cringed, way too sweet for his pallet but it was edible. At least the Hyuga had made an effort, he told himself. In his haste to return to the village he'd forgotten he'd have to buy some groceries he especially needed them now he was living here and not by himself. He'd allowed Naruto and Sakura to stay also because they were the people closest to him and he felt he needed the moral support being back in his childhood home. Not that he'd told them that!
Last night he hadn't slept much, being back in his old bedroom he'd found himself staring up at the ceiling in his room. His memories haunted him while awake, he didn't need them in his dreams too. Finally around 4am he'd drifted off after being too exhausted to stay awake any longer, he'd woken up again with the sunlight blinding him through his curtains around 7:30am.
Lost in his musing Sasuke looked up to see Sakura and Naruto sat with him at the table also, both with devouring a bowl of porridge each.
“This is so good Hinata.” Naruto looked over at Hinata, who popped her head out a different cupboard and smiled awkwardly.
“Aren't you going to join us?” Sakura asked her.
“No thank you, I already had a bowl before. You guys eat as much as you want though.” Hinata went back to what ever she was doing.
“Don't mind if I do.” Naruto stood from the table, pouring more porridge in to his bowl.
“Oi! Don't use your spoon! Don't double drip that's disgusting!” Sakura shouted.
Hearing the front door bell Sasuke rolled his eyes at his team mates antics and walked out the kitchen and smirked still hearing the two of them bickering from the hallway. Opening the front door Sasuke looked at the man standing on his porch way. He was about the same height as Sasuke, he couldn't really tell with his shaggy white hair. His clothes were very traditional: a white high collared kimono with a black obi and large billowing arms, Sasuke could just make out black fingerless gloves underneath.
“What do you want?” Sasuke was not in the mood this morning to be pestered by anyone.
“Is Hinata in?”
“Who's asking?”
“I'm Toneri.” He told Sasuke, not offering his hand, not that Sasuke would of shook it anyway. He got some bad vibes off this guy, but who was he to say who and who shouldn't the Hyuga should talk to.
“Wait here.” Sasuke told him. Walking back in the kitchen Sasuke informed Hinata of her visitor, he watched her frown at the mention of Toneri's name wipe her hands on a kitchen towel and walk out.
Watching her walk out the room Naruto and Sakura gave each a coded look and once they heard the front door close quickly sprinted into the sitting room to look out the window.
“What are you doing?” Sasuke asked the two of them. They were both perched precariously on the back of the couch looking out the window.
“Shh.” Sakura scolded Sasuke.
“What do you think they're saying?”
“If you two would shut up I might actually be able to hear.” Sakura replied through gritted teeth.
After closing the front door behind her Hinata looked at Toneri waiting patiently for her, he had an air of arrogance about him that set her teeth on edge.
“Toneri? How-What are you doing here?” Hinata asked.
“Who was that man?” He asked her crossly.
“Sasuke? He- This is his house.”
“And you live here now?” He quickly fired his questioning at her.
“Not that it's any of your business, yes.” Hinata frowned.
“Are you and him...together?”
“What!? N-No!”
“You hesitated! You are!” He came up in to her face. “I won't allow it! You're mine-”
“I'm no one's property!” Hinata stepped back thoroughly shocked.
“You tell 'im Hinata!” Hinata looked over her shoulder in to the sitting room window to see Naruto waving sheepishly.
“Who the hell is that?” Toneri asked pointing at smiling and waving Naruto.
“Naruto Uzumaki.”
“You're living in a house with two men!”
“Toneri, it's none of your business where or whom I live with.”
“Course it is! You're my future wife.” Hinata looked stunned at Toneri, her mouth falling open and eyes widening, he'd said it with such conviction and certainty. “You see you're speechless.”
“Toneri...I...I can't be your w-wife.” Hinata stammered her way through the sentence, she backed up against the front door and felt for the handle behind desperately trying to escape from this mad man. She watched as he took a step closer to her and placed a hand on either side of her head.
“Say you'll be mine Hinata.” He smiled at her.
“I-I'm sorry Toneri...I'm just... not worthy of you.” Hinata quickly turned the handle of the door and ran into the house slamming and locking it in process.
“Hinata!” She heard Toneri shout her name and bang on the door. Hinata backed away from the door as if a mortal enemy was there and gave a little squeak when her back bumped into a hard chest.
“Hyuga do me a favour and don't invite all your ex boyfriends here.” Sasuke sighed and took hold of her shoulder's moving her aside.
“H-He's not my-”
“I don't care.” Hinata nodded her head at Sasuke's cold response.
With the banging still coming from the front door Sasuke's anger flared, he yanked open the front door nearly pulling it off it's hinges in process.
“I suggest you get the fuck off my property. Now!” Sasuke's sharingan flared at Toneri. He'd had just about enough of loud and obnoxious people for one morning.
“You touch her and I'll-”
“I suggest you don't finish that sentence.” Sasuke emphasised every word and spoke venomously. He didn't take kindly to being threatened. Begrudgingly Toneri turned and left, Sasuke slammed the front front door shut behind him making Sakura and Naruto jump.
“H-Has he gone?” Hinata poked her head out of the kitchen door, Sasuke nodded his head at her. “I'm sorry about him. I swear I didn't know he'd come here.” Sasuke just nodded his head and placed his hands in his pockets.
“I really couldn't give a crap about your personal life Hyuga. Can we just discuss the plan now.”
“I can't believe that guy said that.” Sakura scoffed. Hinata and Sakura were currently in the sitting room. After a quick discussion this morning Hinata had proposed that Sakura and herself clean the house while the men worked on restoring the grounds of the Uchiha district. Sasuke had agreed at least, once the house was in a liveable condition then Hinata and Sasuke could begin the process of lessons in diplomacy, clan laws and anything else Hinata thought he'd need help with in his future role.
Sakura and herself decided to start in the sitting room, having removed all the sheets from the room they began dusting each picture and trinket, while talking about the events of this morning.
“I know.” Hinata giggled, “Can you imagine. Me? A wife?” Hinata laughed all the more. “I don't even know his last name.”
“The man is obviously delusional.”
“I can't even imagine myself getting married to anyone.” Hinata confessed.
“Really? To no one?” Hinata shook her head.
“I want more from my life than just to be a wife trapped in a house. The elders in my clan would love nothing more than to see me controlled by a husband. To me it would seem like a cage.” Hinata looked over at Sakura.
“I dunno Hinata, after everything that happened in the war I don't think I'd mind being a house wife.” Sakura noticed Hinata flinch at the word war and look back to whatever she'd been cleaning. No matter how many times Sakura tried to make conversation with her the rest of the morning Hinata seemed lost in her own world. She'd closed her off, Sakura was worried for her friend she knew Neji's death was hard for her it was for all of them, but she wanted her friend to still enjoy her life. She needed to find a way to get Hinata to open up!
Sasuke walked in to the kitchen and noticed the Hyuga sat at the table eating an apple while reading. Sakura and Naruto had both gone to the store to buy more food, he hoped Naruto didn't just buy instant ramen, perhaps allowing Naruto to go was a bad idea. Sasuke hadn't planned on them both helping him with Kakashi's plan, as well as Hinata but he guessed he should known they would always help him out, they were a team after all.
“What you reading?” Sasuke sat himself down taking a bite into his own apple he grabbed from the fruit bowl. He usually wasn't one to start a conversation, most of the time he liked to finish one but being in his childhood home in silence would only invoke memories.
“The count of Monte Cristo.” Hinata looked at the cover then to Sasuke and closed the book delicately, sensing he wanted to talk.
“You enjoy reading?” He asked.
“Mmm, very much so.” Sasuke nodded, well that was a conversation killer, he thought. “D-Do you like reading?” Hinata asked him after an awkward silence.
“Never really had the time.” Sasuke shrugged his shoulder's.
“You'd probably like this one. I was told it's the best revenge story ever written.” Sasuke raised an eyebrow at the Hyuga, “I-I mean...Not that I think that's what you'd like or anything or all you wanted or..... Oh God I'm really not good at this.” Hinata brought her hands to her bright red face.
“No, you're really not.” Sasuke smirked. “Who knows maybe I'll read it after you.”
“I'm mortified.” Hinata buried her face in her hands all the more.
“You should be.” Sasuke teased. “Any other books you suggest I read in the meantime, Hyuga? Not love stories.” Sasuke added with a pointed expression.
“I don't read love stories.” Hinata moved her hands from her face.
“A woman who doesn't read love stories? Ok, sure and I'm a fairy.” Hinata laughed at the image that formed in her head. Sasuke in a short dress with fluttering wings, he could actually pull it off surprisingly.
“I really don't. I like adventure tales.” Hinata told him banishing that image of fairy Sasuke from her imagination.
“Like?” Sasuke inquired.
“Um...The lord of the rings, you should read that. Oh or the Hobbit, Game of Thrones and -”
“One book at a time Hyuga. The Lord of the Rings? What's that about?”
“It's about this land and there's all these different races; elves, humans, dwarfs, hobbits and such. Anyway they make these rings of power-”
“Bad idea-”
“Very bad idea. The lord of Mordor he creates this all powerful ring to rule them all-”
“I like the sound of him-”
“And he has an army of orcs-”
“Of what?”
“Oh Orcs... hideous creatures, there's many theories on how they were created one is that they use to be elves, taken by dark powers, tortured and mutilated-”
“I know that feeling.”
“Well...I don't really want to give anything away. But they have to find a way to destroy the ring. I think it's a series you'd enjoy.”
“A series?”
“There's three books.”
“Hyuga I asked for one.”
“Well start with the fellowship of the ring and see what you think.”
“Maybe.”
Hinata stood up the table, discarded her apple core and washed her hands.
“I made a phone call today, someone is coming to tune the piano next week.”
“You-You didn't have to do that for me.”
“I didn't.”
“O-Ok. Good.”
“Good.” Sasuke frowned.
“Um...Excuse me, I think I need to go lie down in my room I have a sudden headache.” Hinata bowed and quickly grabbed her book piratically running out the room.
“You really need to work on your people skills.” He heard Naruto mutter as he walked in to kitchen with bags in his hands, Sakura walked in behind him with even more bags looking up the stairs to the fleeing Hyuga and back to Sasuke with a deep sigh.
The next morning after having their breakfast Sasuke and Naruto were outside once again. The mid September day had a bitter wind blowing leaves and such all around them. Making their hands bitterly cold, Sasuke could hear Naruto's teeth chattering from a few meters away.
“Will you be quite!” Sasuke shouted at his friends moan.
“I c-can't help i-it, i-it's fr-fr-freezing.”
“Well maybe if you actually did something other than standing there, your body would warm up.”
“You t-try wor-working with blu-blue hands.”
“I am you half wit! I'm chopping wood for a fire tonight!”
“Ohhhh f-fire.” Naruto's eyes glazed over and a smile appeared on his face as he imagined a warm fire to warm his body. Sasuke threw one of the logs at his friends head. “Ow! What the hell!?” Naruto asked rubbing where the log had left a mark.
“Work!”
“Jeez you're in a bad mood this morning.” Naruto grumbled and began picking up the logs, once his arms were full he began taking them in to the sitting room, where Sakura would stack them neatly. Hinata was in the dinning room starting the cleaning process in there.
“Looks great in there, girls are doing a good job.” Naruto told him as he walked back out.
“Hn.”
“Is it weird being back?”
“Obviously.” Sasuke rolled his eyes at the question still concentrating on chopping the logs.
“You know I'm your friend Sasuke you can -”
“What ever you're going to say, shut up! Any sentence that has 'I'm your friend' in it annoys the hell out of me.” Sasuke chopped the last log and wiped the beads of sweat off his forehead head.
“Ha you know I just thought, we could of just used my wind jutsu.”
“I really hate you sometimes.” Sasuke hands clenched into fists, he had to shut his eyes to try and stop his sharingan from from activating he wanted so bad to punch Naruto hard...in the face, hopefully knocking him out for a couple of hours for some peace and-
“Who's that?” Naruto asked.
Sasuke opened his eyes and looked in the direction Naruto was. A young girl of about 13 he'd guess, was walking through the Uchiha district with a bouquet of flowers in her hands. Her yellow kimono dress with it's orange flames raising up the material making it so you couldn't miss her.
She stopped a meter or so in front of them and looked at Sasuke with a stern expression.
“What are you looking at?” Sasuke asked bluntly.
“A douche bag.” The young girl answered unflinching, Naruto tried to control his laughter beside him. “Where's my sister?”
“How would I know?”
“You haven't killed her have you?”
“Depends. It would help if you tell me who your sister is?” Sasuke crossed his arms.
“Hinata.”
“Oh you must be Hanabi.” Naruto smiled. “Hinata's inside, I'll go get her for you.”
Sasuke and Hanabi stayed still seizing one another up, he had to admit he was impressed by the little squirt she didn't flinch away from him like most her age did.
“Hanabi!” He turned away from the young Hyuga's eyes to see Hinata run down the steps of the front porch. Her smile is what struck him first, it was the first genuine smile he'd seen on the Hyuga and even he could admit she looked beautiful. To himself at least!
Hinata ran at her sister, threw her arms around her and spun her round in a circle. Both of the girls giggling in the process. Once Hanabi's feet were back on solid ground Hinata still clung on to Hanabi.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too Nee-San.” Sasuke looked away awkwardly, this scene reminded him way too much of his own childhood, however for him it was he who went running to Itachi. Sasuke gave an awkward cough and began picking up some of the logs, trying to busy himself.
“Are you ok Sasuke? You're not getting sick are you being out in the cold.” Sasuke looked at Hinata seeing her concern for him and paused trying to find the words in his mind. He realised he looked an idiot with his mouth hanging open and not responding.
“Nee-San I need to talk to you.” Hanabi brought her sister's attention back to her. “Will you walk with me in to town?”
“I-Is everything ok? Back home?”
“Yah it's fine, boring without you. But I just...Need to talk.”
“Ok. I'll just get my coat, we need milk anyway.”
Hinata and Hanabi walked casually through the town Hinata had bought a few things from the general store, some milk and bread and cough medicine for Sasuke just in case he was getting sick.
Once they'd finished shopping they stood on the wooden bridge over looking the small stream, they watched the sakura blossoms float down stream.
“So what did you really want to talk about?” Hinata looked over at Hanabi, with her flowers still in her hands. They'd already caught up on what had been happing the past couple of days and Hinata could tell Hanabi was itching to tell her something still.
“I got my first mission.” Hanabi told her excitedly.
“Oh Hanabi that's great!” Hinata pulled her in to a hug, “I'm so proud of you.” Hinata didn't ask for details of the mission, usually they were top secret and she didn't want Hanabi to get into trouble for telling her.
“It starts early tomorrow though.”
“Oh dear, your poor team, you're not a morning person.” Hinata laughed.
“You can't see me off like we hoped..but...but there's something else I'd like us to do.”
“Anything Hanabi.”
“W-Will you come with me to the cemetery? I want to see Neji.” Hinata stood up straight and backed away from her sister.
“I know it's hard for you. It's just I want you both to wish me luck, you know. I'll be with you the whole time too. I know you haven't been to see him since the funeral, I'm sure he misses you.”
“Hanabi-” Hinata spoke her name softly.
“Please Nee-San. Please.”
Hinata nodded her head, she could never deny her little sister when she begged like that.
Hanabi lay the flowers on the grave with 'Neji Hyuga' wrote on it. The grave was still pristine and even with the low sun it still shone bright. Hinata stared at the name on the grave and felt her heart sink. He was here, buried under her feet all because of her. Everyone missed him because of her. So much guilt, so much pain locked inside her was ready to spill to the surface but she tried to keep it locked down.
She listened to Hanabi tell 'Neji' of her first mission, how the clan was was, their father was, on and on she went and Hinata could only stand there gulping her emotions down. Urging them back down in to the pit of her stomach.
“I have to go Nee-San, it's getting late. Will you be ok?”
“Yes, course.” Hinata gave Hanabi a stiff smile, trying to reassure her, “You need your rest for tomorrow, you should go.”
“You should talk too you know.” Hinata looked back down at the grave and nodded her head. “Bye Nee-San!” Hinata heard Hanabi's fading farewell but didn't look away from the grave.
“I'm so sorry Nee-San.” Hinata crumbled to her knees and finally began to cry, not being able to hold them back any longer now she was alone. “Why couldn't you just let me die? You should of just let me die. Hinata cried harder now. She felt the wind stir around her, blowing her hair out of her face. “I can't do this without you, living without you is so hard. I miss you...so much.” She couldn't say anymore, couldn't get anymore words out between sobs. Instead she lay her head on the cold stone and felt tear after tear roll off her face on to the white stone. She wished she could be with him again, wished they could walk through the compound gardens like they use to. Lay in the grass together and watch the stars twinkle above them.
Bringing a hand up in to the sky she imagined Neji taking her hand and pulling her up into his new city in the sky. He would welcome her with open arms and she would feel whole and warm again by his presence. She would feel his soul wrap his arms around her and tell her she was home now too.
She didn't know how long she stayed there, lost in her imagination, time seemed insignificant at this moment. The only thing she cared about was how wonderful it felt being with Neji again, even if it was in her mind.
After the sun had set and Sakura and still hadn't heard off Hinata she had become very worried for her friend. It wasn't like Hinata to not message them, she didn't like people to worry about her anymore. Sakura grew increasing worried as the night grew darker and the moon began to make its presents known.
“We should go find her.” Sakura told Naruto and Sasuke.
“She's probably just having a meal with her family. She'll be fine Sakura.” Naruto told her.
“I don't care! This isn't like her! Do you think she said that when you were fighting Pein!”
“Alright...You didn't need to go there.” Naruto looked sheepishly at the remark, “I'll go to the Hyuga compound and ask if she's there.”
“Good! I'll go to the grocery store, she mentioned about buying milk right? And Sasuke you-”
Sasuke stood up from the chair and walked out the house he'd be faster looking on his own anyway.
That had been an hour ago, since then Naruto and Sakura had messaged him and told him she wasn't at the grocery store or the compound and each of them had decided on a district to check in the meantime.
Sasuke had looked at the cemetery and on a whim decided to check. He didn't know why the Hyuga would come in here, but it was worth a look at least. Grave stone after grave stone covered the ground each with a name, each a member of someone's family who would missed. Some of them newer than others, some had flowers on them, some didn't, some looked in disarray.
Looking up he noticed a still form, with their head rested on a grave and their body curled up upon itself, as if trying to contain heat. Which didn't surprise him considering the temperature had dropped drastically since the sun had set.
Drawing closer Sasuke recognised the long hair to be Hinata's and the coat she now wore which she'd grabbed when she went to walk with Hanabi. Hinata's hair covered some of her face, her breathing was steady apart from a little hiccup every now and again. Sasuke slowly bent down and moved her hair out of her face and noticed her red and puffy eyes, obvious signs she had been crying and for some time given that she was still unable to control her breathing.
Sasuke touched the Hyuga's hand and flinched from how cold they were. Taking off his thick coat he quickly messaged Naruto and Sakura telling them to meet him back at house and that he'd found her.
For the life of him Sasuke couldn't wake the Hyuga, she was in too deep a sleep and too exhausted from crying to even open her eyes. Lifting her in to his arms he gently picked her up and her carrier bag. With his coat wrapped around her it was awkward but manageable.
“Urh Hyuga, tell anyone I did this and I'll kill you.” Sasuke spoke through gritted teeth as he lifted her more in to his arms and watched as she snuggled herself in to his t-shirt. He felt how cold she was through his clothes, watched a small smile form on her face as she rubbed her cheek against him, making him smirk then quickly frowned in case someone was around. Looking at the grave she'd been resting on he took note of the name and began to run, as fast as he could with the Hyuga in his arms, back to mansion.
“Is she ok?” Sakura pounced upon him as he walked through the door. Sakura stopped in her path seeing how Sasuke was holding Hinata, how her hand was gripping on to his shirt like her life depended on it.
“Stoke the fire, Naruto.” Was all Sasuke said as he carried the Hyuga in to sitting room. Naruto doing as he was told for once with out complaining.
Sasuke lay Hinata on the couch near the fire, so she could feel it's heat radiating towards her, yet still she held on to him.
“Where was she?” Naruto asked Sasuke quietly.
“The cemetery.” Sasuke answered not taking his eyes off the Hyuga and his arms still wrapped around her shoulder's, he was trying not to jostle her too much so not to wake her.
What he couldn't see was Sakura and Naruto looking questioningly at each other, never had they seen Sasuke take so much care and attention of someone. Usually if he cared about you, he tried to kill you, well that was their experience anyway.
“Naruto, go grab a blanket from somewhere.”
“Where?”
“I don't know! Anywhere!” Sasuke shouted over his shoulder in frustration. “Who's Neji Hyuga?” Sasuke asked Sakura after finally releasing his arms from around the still sleeping Hyuga. Sakura perched herself at the bottom of the couch and looked from Hinata for Sasuke.
“You don't remember Neji?”
“I wouldn't ask if I did.”
“He was in our class at the academy. Kinda stern, silent but deadly type. He was in team Guy with Tenten and Rock Lee.”
“You say all these names like I should know them.”
“You do know them! Rock Lee, you know big eyebrows, green jump suit-”
“Annoying one.”
“Tenten is the weapons expert, she owns a weapon shop in town now she-”
“Get to the point Sakura.” Sasuke spoke through gritted teeth, he hated how she deviated sometimes.
“Sorry. Neji is...was, Hinata's older cousin, he was more like her big brother though. In the chunin exams he tried to kill her-”
“Older brother's are like that then.” Sakura pushed Sasuke playfully and shook her head.
“After the chunin exams and Naruto beat him, Hinata and Neji became closer. He was really protective of her, helped her train and develop her own jutsu. During the war they were in the same division and had each other's backs the whole time. But...He died protecting Hinata and Naruto from an attack off the Juubi.”
“I see.” Sasuke stared down at the still sleeping Hyuga and realised he knew very little about her. He'd assumed her life was easy in comparison to his but actually there were many similarities.
“I should take a look at her.”
“What?”
“I'm a medic Sasuke, I need to make sure she's ok. Plus she needs to get out of those damp clothes before she gets hypothermia.”
“Right.” Sasuke backed away from the couch giving Sakura the space she needed.
“I can't imagine she'd want you in the room while I undress her.” Sakura frowned.
“Right. Yes. Course.” Sasuke tried not to blush and stumbled out the room as quickly as he could.
“Boys.” Sakura rolled her eyes and began to check on Hinata, smiling to herself.

[Fanfic] A Thread of Scarlet- Chapter 35: The Drama of Love-Life Decisions
“So…how’s your wife?” Tenten shifts awkwardly in her seat, fingers tapping out a rhythm against her mug of coffee. She watches her male companion closely, eyes sweeping over his form to gauge his level of discomfort. She presses her tongue to her cheek when she sets her sights on his face again, taking note that his mask of patient perfection has not slipped.
Neji raises an eyebrow as he takes a sip of his tea (a sign he has acknowledged her question and is in the process of determining whether or not to answer). After setting his cup on the table and clearing his throat, he says, “Sakura’s doing fine. Lee is well I presume?”
Tenten rolls her eyes, smoothing her cheerful yellow skirt (a stark contradiction to her mood) and graces him with a forced smile. “We aren’t married, Neji. We just share a flat. Rent is high today, especially if you want a view of the waterfront.”
“Of course. How’s Nara? I haven’t seen him in a while.”
“He’s currently on a second honeymoon. You know what Temari’s like. Just nags and nags until she gets what she wants,” the female replies, waving her hand in a breezy gesture.
“I knew another woman like that,” Neji murmurs quietly.
And it becomes awkward again.
“And now you sleep beside her every night, Tenten mutters under her breath (though she knows he is talking about her), lowering her head and stirring her coffee for the nth time.
“Our marriage was arranged and you know that,” the Hyuuga reminds her, though his tone becomes somewhat gentler.
Tenten sighs. It always begins like this. She and Neji had been introduced to each other during their first year of college courtesy of their friend Lee. They had bonded over their love for martial arts and he had been impressed by her knowledge of weaponry. Things had been going well until Christmas break during their senior year. Neji’s uncle informed him that he was to be wed to Haruno Sakura, the daughter of a powerful business mogul, after his graduation. Tenten had been angry, so angry that he hadn’t fought to stay with her, that she refused to speak to him for the remainder of the year and it was only on graduation day did she break the silence with a quick “congratulations” and a strained smile. Over time the boiling rage she feels at the sight of him has simmered down into bitter resentment. They are still in love, that much is clear to the both of them. However, Neji is too much of a coward to disobey his clan’s wishes and she is too tired, has spent too much energy mulling over what might’ve been, that the fight within her has died.
It was Neji who began instigating these monthly coffee meetings and though Tenten had adamantly refused at first, her heart won in the end and she hates herself for being so weak.
“You should come over for dinner sometime,” Neji continues softly, breaking her train of thought. His hand twitches around his mug and for a moment it seems as if he wants to reach out to her, but then his grip tightens and Tenten knows the desire has been effectively squashed.
“Maybe,” she tells him, and they both know it means never.  Neji’s lips twist into a frown.
“Perhaps we could meet up for dinner somewhere, just the two of us,” he presses (pleads). The way Tenten’s eyes darken at his suggestion makes his tea churn uncomfortably in his stomach. But he has made the mistake of letting her go one too many times and come hell or high water, he is not going to let her slip away again.
“Neji, you’re married-”
“And that means we still can’t be friends?” he interrupts her, a determined look flashing across his features. He is Neji Hyuuga, he always gets what he wants.
Tenten takes slow measured breaths, feeling a spike of adrenaline in her system as her temper rises. She grabs her purse and stands quickly. Neji is on his feet as well, towering over her. Her hands ball into fists and her lips press into a thin white line.
“One day, Neji, you’ll have to choose between me and Sakura. And when you do that and finally get all your shit together, give me a call.”
Neji is left with a budding headache, a pained heart, and the bill.
---
Neji has never really seriously considered the prospect of running away until right now. Seated at an old diner, between his briefcase and a window, watching rain collect on the windowpane, the idea has never seemed so tempting. He taps a finger against his coffee mug, eyes narrowed in thought.
Tenten is right, though he hates to admit it. Unfortunately, she and his family will never be able to peacefully coexist in his life. His uncle does not have anything personal against the brunette, it is just that Neji’s union with Sakura would be more beneficial for the Hyuuga empire while marrying Tenten would seem to have no effect at all. And since Neji has been training to become head of the Hyuuga Corporation, a useless marriage (no matter how happy it would make him) will not do.
Neji sighs and rubs his aching temples. His paperwork has long been forgotten, pushed under a plate where the remnants of his dinner remain (Sakura is taking a girls’ night out). The turkey sandwich has left a strange taste in his mouth and his coffee has gone cold. He lifts his head hoping to catch the attention of his waiter, but instead, his eyes land on Tenten.
She is sitting with Lee, animatedly talking away, flashing a smile he hasn’t seen since their college days. She used to smile like that for him, now it seems as if she has an endless reserve of frowns waiting to be unleashed at the mere mention of his name. Neji’s fists clench as he watches her. He and Lee are still good friends, but the subject of the Hyuuga’s failed romance with the brunette female is a taboo topic. It does not pain him too much to see the two of them together, but when another man approaches the table and proceeds to take the unoccupied chair next to Tenten, and then has the nerve to put his arm around her, Neji is up and striding across the room before he has taken time to consider the consequences. Tenten is no longer his, but something animalistic inside of him is hell bent on making sure she isn’t anyone else’s either.
Lee sees him coming and grins, about to shout for him to join them when he notices the storm brewing in his features. The invitation subsequently dies on his lips and he casts a worried glance at his female companion.
‘Tenten,” Neji’s tone is icy and his eyes have darkened to a lilac color.
She watches him warily, but there is a storm brewing inside of her as well. “What?”
Neji is slight taken aback at the annoyance in her voice. Though he is aware of her resentment towards him, she has always been polite to him in the company of others. Lee’s face is growing more panicked as the seconds tick by. The other man at the table who, irritatingly enough, still has not unwound his arm from around Tenten’s shoulders, watches the scene unfold with cool black eyes. His onyx hair is spiked up near the back of his head and he is outfitted in dark washed jeans and a t-shirt.
“Really? Not even a proper hello. Won’t you introduce me to your new friend?” Neji retorts, his glare intensifying when he locks eyes with the man.
“This is Sasuke. He’s my boyfriend.”
Neji will not have it. This idiot thing touching his girl makes his blood boils in his veins in a manner he has not felt since he was informed of his arranged marriage nearly two years ago.  Realization dawns on him very quickly that he can live with being removed from the line of heirs to the Hyuuga Corporation, but he absolutely cannot live without Tenten. His eyes first shift to Lee who has been staring at him as if he is about to be eaten alive, then to Sasuke, that worthless scum, then to Tenten, and his heart constricts with yearning.
“I have decided, Tenten,” he says calmly, though his aura is poisoned with murderous intent. She raises her eyebrows at the statement.
“Decided what?”
“You. I choose you.”
Silence.
“I don’t care what my family will think of me for this, I don’t care if they refuse to allow me to become head of the Hyuuga Corporations, and I don’t even care if this is what you want me to do. I want this.” He is Neji Hyuuga, and he always gets what he wants.
Tenten blinks, her mind racing a mile a minute. This is exactly what she has been waiting for, for two years. She should be happy, yet an unpleasant weight settles in her gut. She swallows hard and chews on her lower lip. “Are-are you sure?” And suddenly she knows why she isn’t happy. This is such a momentous decision for Neji, he is practically throwing away his life’s work for her. She loves him, loves him enough to let him go for the sake of his happiness and his dreams.
As if he realizes what she is thinking, he takes a step forwards. He reaches for her hand without hesitance and squeezes her fingers. “I am sure.”
Suddenly Tenten is rising from the table, Sasuke’s arm carelessly shrugged from her shoulders, and she is pulling him to her with tears in her big brown eyes. She presses her cheek against his and her eyelashes brush his skin, leaving tingles in their wake. Lee is smiling broadly now and where Sasuke has disappeared to Neji does not care.
She pulls back to give him a smile. It seems as if her reserve of frowns has finally dwindled.
“Now what was it you were pestering me about? Something about a dinner date?”
