I Will Do Anything, Not Deny Anything
Impressions; Chapter 5 and 6
In chapter 5 (vol.2), despite exceeding Ryuuzaki in information-gathering ability as well, Yashiro adopted peculiar, or Yashiro-esque means of reconciliation. At the same time, he used Ryuuzaki to indulge in his own fantasy. Seeing the scene inside the room, Doumeki moved his expression for a moment, Nanahara, who had just been stabbed by Ryuuzaki’s man, made his eyes bulge, Ryuuzaki panicked, and Misumi was the only one who remained calm. Misumi must have looked up at the window of the executive office when he got out of the car. Yashiro was also unmoved and if anything, intoxicated.
At the beginning of chapter 6 (vol.2), Yashiro reappeared with a neat and elegant aspect that made it hard to believe he had just acted disgracefully. He then ordered Nanahara to see Ryuuzaki off, adding to do it politely. Even Nanahara seemed to have been about to argue. However, it was a part of Yashiro's consideration for settling the trouble with the Matsubara group.
Against Doumeki, Yashiro was taking an attitude as if making Doumeki’s disapproval or complaint repressed. Doumeki replied that he did not have any complaints, and looked a bit composed. He checked his expression in the windowpane. He must have been asking himself why he had a certain change inside him since the morning. He saw Yashiro's affair with Ryuuzaki and was not as so calm as he had been. He intuitively observed that the only reason Yashiro was keeping him on the side and acting fairly defenseless was that he was impotent. “I do not want to be thrown away like an unwanted toy. I want to be by Boss’s side all the time.” To do so, Doumeki decided to accept Yashiro unconditionally.
Misumi pointed out that Yashiro had never slept with anyone he was truly in love with, but only with people he could not care less. Yashiro unconsciously was at a loss for words, and Doumeki’s hand also stopped. That could have denoted that no one was ever truly able to get Yashiro. Misumi himself felt not, either, though he owned Yashiro. That meant Yashiro basically gave them just his body without ‘love,’ and even in case of his having affection, he hold it and did not step into physical relationships.
“He sleeps with people he does not care about” is almost synonymous with “he does not sleep with people he does care about.” Those whom Yashiro does not sleep with are he cares about. First, Kageyama. It can be said that Misumi might be one of them. Of course, given his status as the big boss, he disliked being treated as a person whom Yashiro did not care about. Or, if Misumi had kept Yashiro as one of his fixed lovers, at the very least, they could have gotten onto a deeper relationship (otherwise breaking) beyond a temporary ‘romance.’ I imagine Misumi also went slow not to drown in Yashiro’s allure. He knew well what Yashiro had done to old Aniki who had become enamored with him (ch.10, vol.2).  I think Misumi detected the cognition system of Yashiro’s world, or his persona system, and intends not to violate it.
Misumi was trying to warn Doumeki that there was no point in becoming seriously carried away with Yashiro. Yet if they were not sleeping together, then...? It could have meant that Doumeki was not someone whom Yashiro did not care about.
Doumeki had something else on his mind. If it was exact as Misumi said, there was nothing between Yashiro and Kageyama. Yashiro had been passing over years and years without telling Kageyama anything, and Kageyama did not know anything. In volume 2, Author restructured the next page to only two panels. The redrawn Yashiro on the back seat of the car in chapter 4, on the way back from Kageyama Clinic, and Doumeki thinking back on Yashiro’s sentiment. At the time, we as well would notice that Yashiro affected an air of resignation in his melancholy beauty. It was his emotional feeling for Kageyama.

JEALOUSY
The main theme, the emotion that drives most of the action in Saezuru Chapter 50, is jealousy.
Before I start rambling, I want to point out the big takeaway here: If Doumeki and Yashiro didn’t have feelings for each other then they wouldn’t be jealous. They’re jealous because they care...but hoboy that jealousy makes them both possessive and wild. And that’s why we have all kinds of action in Chapter 50.
Let’s begin with the title page; it smacks of possession, Doumeki reaching out to grasp Yashiro’s throat but not quite connecting. To me, it symbolizes Doumeki wanting to control Yashiro, hold him close, hold him down, but he can’t quite do it because Yashiro is like a feral cat. The phrase is “Everything is about to break.” And that is soooo significant for many reasons: back in chapter 25, Yashiro begged Doumeki not to break him and Doumeki said he wouldn’t - he would never break Yashiro - but he hasn’t keep his word. Because Doumeki did break Yashiro, he ruined him for all other men to the point that Yashiro is currently impotent, and his body only reacts to Doumeki. Also, “don’t break me” is Yashiro asking for Doumeki to not be so gentle because it will break down the walls Yashiro has built around his psyche, the walls that block off his childhood abuse and the torrent of emotions he’s been holding back forever. The tender way Doumeki treated him in chapter 25 put a crack in those walls but with the Hirata situation and the timeskip Yashiro was able to keep running, to try and cope the way he used to, even if it wasn’t working and the cracks began to spider out. Once Doumeki reentered his life those cracks became bigger and bigger, because Doumeki won’t let Yashiro run to others and cope. He’s possessive, he keeps manhandling Yashiro and dragging him around, not letting him be Volume One Yashiro. In Doumeki’s eyes, Yashiro hasn’t changed. He’s still lascivious, promiscuous, dealing with dangerous people and acting out.
But parts of Doumeki have changed. The fog of his family trauma and prison life has left him. He’s stronger now, the sharpness he had before the timeskip has been honed to a fine point and he now has a powerful sense of self. Like I said in my last meta, Doumeki is an asset and he’s not going to stand by and watch like he did in chapter 2, he’s going to try and control Yashiro, break his walls down, break them apart.
Chapter 50 starts off where Chapter 49 ended: with Doumeki looming over Yashiro in bed. There’s a lot of give and take. Doumeki notices marks on Yashiro’s arms that Inami left behind and we all know that Doumeki is jealous of Inami. He is insistent on taking Yashiro away from him and makes little passive aggressive remarks about Yashiro’s relationship with that scumbag. From there he seductively takes off his tie just like he did with his glove in chapter 46 (like seriously Doumeki who taught you how to striptease?) And he attempts to tie Yashiro up with it, thinking that Yashiro still likes it rough but when Yashiro halfheartedly resists thinks…maybe he wants it gentle?
That sparks Yashiro’s memory and he recalls the time he slept in Doumeki’s lap in chapter one, thinking that he did want gentleness at some point. But, of course, Yashiro doesn’t give Doumeki a straight answer because - well - he never does so Doumeki gives him three fingers.
I’d like to point out that Yashiro – who is super impotent – comes like crazy from the fingering alone which is further proof that Doumeki does it for him. Yashiro is 90% undressed by the end but Doumeki only lost the tie and gloves DAMMIT I was hoping for a back reveal I’m still wondering if he has a tattoo.
SIGH I guess we’ll have to wait.
I’m not sure if Nanahara shows up later or the next morning but he knocks on Yashiro’s door. When Doumeki answers it, Nanahara’s face is pure gold and he wants to know what Doumeki is doing there but gets distracted because Yashiro just casually strolls out naked into the living room like he owns the place. Um, well, technically HE DOES OWN THE PLACE but that is exactly why I love My Flawless Son. I can only hope to give exactly zero fucks like that. I especially love how he reads the paper while Nanahara is having a heart attack. Anyway, Nanahara is like WHAT DID YOU TWO DO???? They tell him they didn’t sleep together but Nanahara ain’t really buying it.
They end up talking about yakuza drama for a bit and then Nanahara, Yashiro, and Doumeki take a little drive. Their first stop is the Club Madam’s place where Kamiya is chillin (Nanahara’s face is gold here too, he should never play poker.)
Apparently, money was stolen from her business and she’s pretty sure that it’s because of Okuyama’s group. Doumeki has a suspect in mind but he isn’t letting on yet...and I wonder if it’s the woman who he visited in chapter 47. Club Madam acts very friendly and familiar with Doumeki, calling him Chikara, but as far as I know there isn’t anything between them. Doumeki always turns the women down at bars and soaplands when he’s out with Kamiya, and both Kamiya and Tsunakawa comment on it, so I think they’re friends and they provide each other with information. Now, Yashiro believes that Doumeki does have a woman from their heated interaction back in chapter 46; when asked, Doumeki gave Yashiro a sarcastic answer about it that Yashiro took seriously. So when Nanahara says something about Doumeki and Club Madam to further Yashiro’s suspicions, Yashiro gets JEALOUS.
We haven’t seen a jealous Yashiro since chapter 6, when Doumeki was hanging out with Kuga.
And why is Yashiro jealous? Because he’s in looooove.
But we all know that Yashiro still can’t process his emotions well. Especially emotions that have to do with Doumeki. So after Club Madam’s place, the four of them go out to eat like it’s some kind of double date asjlhalhs and when Doumeki mentions something about treating women gently, Yashiro mind goes back to the beginning of the chapter - where Doumeki offered to be gentle to him - and it scrambles. All confused and upset and not really knowing why or how to deal, Yashiro excuses himself to “go to the restroom” when he actually fucks off and goes to where Kido is hiding. Him and Kido used to have a thing (no surprise there) so Yashiro shows up, asks Kido to assault him in a very desperate way, and starts blowing him. It gets pretty wild but Yashiro can’t get it up, which Kido comments on like WHY ARE WE EVEN DOING THIS.
But why Kido? Yashiro could pick up any man he wanted. Most likely it was to piss off Doumeki in some misguided way of making him jealous, so he would feel how Yashiro feels, instead of, you know, TALKING THINGS OUT.
But before Kido can even say another word, a black-gloved hand grabs the back of his shirt and Doumeki tosses him aside. It’s interesting how Doumeki knew exactly what Yashiro was up to; like I’ve been saying, he’s super sharp now. I wonder if he followed him from the restaurant and I also wonder if he heard Kido’s comment about Yashiro’s impotence asdkajdhagsk.
Yashiro looks pretty remorseful and I think he actually feels badly about what he did because Doumeki is ripping pissed. Once again, Doumeki drags Yashiro away (as he has done in several chapters now, back to the possession. And back to jealousy.)
A sexy source on twitter told me that Yashiro’s thinking about Doumeki and his rage as: “a face i've never seen. insane strength. unconcealed anger in his voice.”
And why wouldn’t Doumeki be furious? He’s asked Yashiro not to fuck around and Yashiro is like “nope, I’m still going to try and do it with Inami and also with your group’s prisoner.” Which sooo complicates things on yakuza and emotional levels.
And as Doumeki drags Yashiro away he asks “would you be happy if I assaulted you?” because he knows that Yashiro is just randomly choosing people and he’s so tired of it. Doumeki wants to be the one. The one to possess, the one to control, the one to bring all those hidden emotions out of Yashiro - he always has. The love he felt from the moment he saw Yashiro in that doorway has only grown. It’s been over four years and he won’t leave the yakuza world because Yashiro is still in it. He won’t let Yashiro give himself to anyone anymore. And he’s pushing Yashiro until the walls crack wide open and he breaks so he can be the one to pick up the pieces.
This is the last chapter of volume 8 and Yoneda Kou usually takes a 4 month hiatus in between volumes, which is consistent with the fact that she’s not listed for the next ihrHertz in Jan 2023, so we will be waiting until March for chapter 51.
Until then, here is a song that sums up Yashiro and Doumeki’s feelings during this chapter:  Pet Shop Boys - Jealousy
Special thanks to Lyuba, gays_in_hiace, and the saezuru discord for all their insight, translations, and general awesomeness.

Can I ask, if you have top favorite romantic couples (can be canon or non canon) of all time from any media? Why love them? Thx :D
ANON SORRY THIS ASK HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY INBOX FOR FIVE BILLION YEARS
this is such a fun thing to think about but my brain of course is just going "ichisama ichisama ichisama" nonstop, but now i will sit down and properly try to think of a top five (like the top 10 characters ask, i'll limit this to animanga and possibly group some together; i'm also limiting myself to ONLY icsm from hpmi, or this whole list would be hpmi lmao)
1. in first place of course it is ICHISAMA FOR LIFE
Tumblr media
using this image yet again because well it's right there in my pinned and very convenient
i am a sucker for the dumb of ass kind of heart one falling for the bad boy with a heart of gold one, ESPECIALLY when they have the friends to enemies to lovers arc that ichisama does (ok the to lovers part is obviously hc only but hoo boy it is a strong hc)
what can i say about them really besides that i am writing a fic a day for them every day this year. i think that. says it all lol
2. gotta be koyanagi/kabakura wotakoi AND kashima/hori gsnk
Tumblr media Tumblr media
while i'm not saying they are identical ships they definitely fall into the same bucket for me, and boy oh boy do i love that bucket
kashima and hori make me belligerently delighted, and koyanagi and kabakura make me a special sort of feral that i don't even know how to start in on
i really like narumi and hirotaka from wotakoi too, but there's something about koyanagi and kabakura that gets to me way more. the geek4geek dynamic is just impeccable with all four of them but the
[PUTTING THE CUT HERE BECAUSE WOTAKOI SPOILERS BELOW, ALSO TOKYO GHOUL SPOILERS FARTHER DOWN]
koyanagi/kabakura wedding just gave me a special sort of glee. i just don't think there's a single thing i don't love to pieces about them, their backstory ova only makes them better
3. saaaaaaya and yuusuke from neon sign amber (aka aokise knb)
Tumblr media
obligatory shoutout to the boys of my FAVORITE BL OF ALL TIME ok so like as far as bl goes neon sign amber is really not the most unique thing, i would say. but that's what makes it so perfect to me
i feel like a lot of outstanding bl are great in ways that are 'atypical' for bl, like how saezuru is bl, sure, but also comes with a genuinely gripping gritty yakuza plot. and many others that are highly praised tend to be praised by people going "oh this is good because it's not like TYPICAL bl" which i have feelings about but let's not get into that here
neon sign amber is my favorite because it is very much a typical bl, it has a lot of the typical tropes (guy who's been historically straight but is "gay for you" for example)
i don't necessarily love any of those tropes, but i adore what neon sign amber does with them. it is practically a cookie cutter bl, but its characters (despite existing for only one volume of a manga) live in my heart forever. it takes that "gay for you" trope and doesn't gloss over the problems that could arise in a relationship like that, instead actually addressing them in a way i found satisfying
saya especially is one of my guys of all time, and given that they're kind of obviously aokise i'm lumping them in here too. mwah
4. idolish7 YUKIMOMO MY BELOVEDS (e banri)
Tumblr media
thought about this one a lot because i feel like i normally like them in a... normal way, so do they really make the top five? but honestly i think they do
i love their stage gay married act and i love to think that's very much rooted in a foundation of they are actually fucking in love with each other. but just that would've made them a cute but not too memorable ship to me
THEIR BACKSTORY THOUGH. MY GOD. first of all baby momo looks literally just like tdd ichiro which is a. a lot. for me. lmao but anyway setting that aside
momo discovering revale at such a pivotal time in his life, being saved by them, becoming their fans, and then being the one to replace banri after THAT happened??? and then five years later feeling like he's running out of time with yuki and ad;slkfja;lkdsfj
i'm becoming incoherent just thinking about it. anyway i guess this is kind of an ot3 for me though i like it in very much a "we are a couple and we are, as a couple, dating banri" sort of thing (not because they wouldn't ever see banri as an equal partner but because imo banri has better things to do than get too involved in that lol)
5. this last one... is so tough... i think i'm giving it to VARIOUS RELATIONSHIPS IN TOKYO GHOUL
Tumblr media
ok this is absolutely cheating and ultimately i think what i would have to say is kaneki and hide because like. eat my face to survive is peak romance to me, sorry. as if it's my fault
HOWEVER there are just so many relationships in tokyo ghoul that i'm absolutely obsessed with. amon/akira and nishio/kimi especially!! amon and akira are so so so delightful to me, in a way similar to roy and riza fma, and nishio and kimi are just. i mean. again. eat me to survive. peak romance
(and i swear i'm not a nishio stan because of voice actor bias, i have not watched tokyo ghoul yet because i have been repeatedly and sternly warned away from it... nishio is one of my manga favorites even without the asnm factor, but good fucking lord does the asnm factor tempt me to watch)
the writing in tokyo ghoul is genuinely just so good to me. the main plot is fantastic but what really makes it is the relationships between characters, both romantic and not
(also a fan of the one-sided tsukiyama/kaneki thing going on but strictly as a one-sided thing lol, tsukiyama get wrecked (said with affection))
so i think that is. more or less where my top five would be. though it's like. it's hard. and probably always changing. those are the first beloved ones to come to my though so they will go in this post and i will smack myself in the forehead and be like "I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ______" as soon as i go to sleep probably
thank you for the ask!

Question about estimating how much of Saezuru is left. I think we had some previous discussions since we know Saezuru is winding to a conclusion soonish. Looking at the previous volumes, there seems to be typically 6-7 chapters. We are now hitting chapter 8 for volume 9 (unless they don't name which chapters are in which volumes? are we still in vol. 9?) so I am thinking this will be the final vol. 9 chapter and we'll have either a, them admitting feelings and reaching a new level of stuff to work through or maybe b, hit another denial wall that pushes them further apart. And with either scenario we enter vol. 10 with the Yakuza plotline picking up and the convoluted feelings also growing in speed (be it overwhelming acceptance or reckless distance). Kind of how vol 5. had them coming together then Y pushing D away and vol 6. having D try to get back into Y's life and the Hirata climax with Y's final exile of D. I still think vol 10 will be the final, but is there any way vol. 9 might be longer and this all somehow wrapped up in like 2 chapters? There's no way, right? I don't know, thoughts? Estimates?
Volume 9 so far consists of ch 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 and now 56. It is possible we can get one more ch for this volume but there has been only 6 chapters so far. I definitely think that there will be at least one more volume left because nothing has been really resolved. Unless Yoneda Kou is determined to finish saezuru up in this volume which would probably require at least 5 or more chapters but it would be rushed compared to everything else in saezuru. I was hoping that Inami would be dealt with in the last few chapters since that would represent them starting to deal with the issues and conflicts they have but unfortunately he will still be around. I am also sure that she would want to move on to other mangas eventually. She has some on hiatus until saezuru is finished since saezuru has become her priority.

hello! Fated Fujoshis, I’ve been following you for almost 10 years now XD I have been obsessed with Saezuru Tori since I found it a few years ago, and was very happy to be able to WATCH it as a manga cd on archive.org, as it had the ff stamp on the title so I know you edited it. But it was taken down unfortunately for some reason this year ToT I rewatch every year, ANYWAYS. I noticed on your site that there are only videos for volumes 1-3 any possibility you could creat 3-7? I have the cd for all the volumes up to 7 if that’s needed I could provide? I would love to be able to support the project through pledge or donation if you are willing to create it!
hiiii and... What... you can do that?? (Archeived stuff?) And yes we do still have them available on forerverfatedfujoshis.wordpress.com but I'm not sure if i want to do from 4-7 *(3 is done) Doing long series is such an investement. Not only that it got animated is it really worth it with part 2 coming soon?

Doumeki and Yashiro keep getting sexier and the story just keeps getting better. I really love the cover of Saezuru volume 7. The texture feels good to touch. The blackness is sleek and sexy. Doumeki the solo focus in all black and you are seemingly looking into an abyss of different shades of black with its darkness pulling you in.

Oyaji, Aniki, and so On
Impressions; Chapter 5
It was said that Yashiro and Ryuuzaki were the yakuza brothers (ch.3, vol.1). Nanahara claimed that Yashiro had the higher grade than Ryuuzaki, since Ryuuzaki’s Matsubara Group was the subsidiary of their Shinseikai (ch.1, vol.1). Also said that Yashiro went ahead of Ryuuzaki in his career as yakuza (ch.14, vol.3). Misumi and Yashiro held a ceremony to take a pledge to become yakuza father-and-son, exchanging sakazuki (sake cup), when Misumi had been the head (kumichou) of Shinseikai (ch.10, vol.2). Ryuuzaki was not Misumi’s yakuza son, even after Misumi’s promotion to wakagashira (the second in command) of Doushinkai, leaving Shinseikai (ch.14).
Ryuuzaki was obliged to bring aid to Hirata (ch.5, vol.2, ch.14). Hirata was the yakuza son of Misumi, and succeeded the head of Shinseikai. He was able to order Ryuuzaki to sell stimulant drugs and even to kill Yashiro (ch.14). All in all, Ryuuzaki is Hirata’s minion (kobun). At some time point, Ryuuzaki, exchanging sakazuki, would have become Hirata’s yakuza son. In other words, Yashiro was Misumi’s direct retainer, while Ryuuzaki was the indirect vassal.
Wakagashira is supposed to be the head’s most trusted confidant and is the candidate for the succession of the organization. That was exactly what applicable to Misumi. He must have been a board member of the parent organization Doshinkai from the time he was the head of Shinseikai. He handed Shinseikai over to Hirata, and promoted to wakagashira of Doshinkai. Succeeding through the succession battle, Misumi took over the position of the president, after decease of the previous one Tachiki (ch.35, vol.6). In the case of Sakura Family which have been taking hereditary system, wakagashira Muraji calls the family head--Tsunakawa oyaji (papa) and is always close to him.
In Shinseikai, however, the relationship between Hirata and Yashiro was strained. They were both Misumi’s yakuza son, so brothers by nature, and at the same time father-and-son (ch.17, vol.4, ch.33, vol.6). When they promoted to the head and wakagashira of Shinseikai, they must have inevitably formed the father-and-son relationship*. That could led Yashiro and Ryuuzaki to yakuza brothers. According to their use of words, they seemed to be equal brothers, with no one being aniki (elder brother). Yashiro’s ascent was made by Misumi (ch.17, vol.4). It seemed Hirata and Yashiro were segregating each other in the same group. Spatially, they were in different buildings (ch.3). Yashiro did not have the support of his immediate superior.
Taking one thing with another, Ryuuzaki, the head of Matsubara Group, may have had room to compete with Yashiro, wakagashira of Shinseikai.
In chapter 5, when Ryuuzaki with bloodshot eyes approached Yashiro, Doumeki quickly put his left arm in to protect Yashiro. He had no intention of intervening in the conversation between the bosses, keeping in low profile, but he tried to keep Ryuuzaki away. Being a former policeman, it could be said that he was simply and naturally acting as a bouncer. As a matter of fact, Ryuuzaki was nothing threatening to Yashiro. Yashiro consistently seized the initiative, and showed his spare attitude throughout the panels and pages. In contrast, his eyes were full of suggestiveness (redrawn in vol.2) when he took a glance at Doumeki. Yashiro was probably half-munekyun, being protected by Doumeki. And then laughed quite squinting way (redrawn in vol.2) about Ryuuzaki, who moreover lost his temper at Doumeki’s using the word sono-hito (that person) for Yashiro.
---------------------------------------- Note: *There was no instance that Yashiro addressed Hirata oyaji, but he did Hirata-san. He does not address even Misumi oyaji, but Misumi-san, and uses annta as the second-person singular pronoun for Misumi which is less formal than anata, befitting for the former lover. Ryuuzaki, too, used Hirata-san as addressing, and it was Misumi that he addressed oyaji (ch.6, vol.2, ch.17). Were those respects for the big executive? What is unsettling is only once in ch.1, vol.1, Yashiro made the monologue that meant he was a yakuza younger brother of Misumi (shatei relationship). Yakuza society seems to be based on the principle of direct inheritance. In the past, Misumi had tried to get Kurobane his kobun (son) in order to make him succeed the organization. Yet Kurobane had rather preferred to serve Misumi personally than becoming the successor of the organization, and had chosen remaining Misumi’s shatei (younger brother) (ch.28, vol.5). For Tachiki’s yakuza younger brothers, Misumi is the legitimate yakuza son of their eldest brother. Misumi shows his respects for them by calling them ojiki (uncle) (ch.14, ch.35).

December-January shopping - Part 1
God, I should have not waited for things to pile up this much but life was hectic at the end of the year and still is... I had to separate the goodies posts into 3 parts: 1/ paper based (manga, dj, artbook, calendars etc.), 2/ figures (nendoroids, gacha etc.) and 3/ merchandise, misc.
In this batch I had many Japanese manga after a long hiatus - my first (and last) honto.jp order using Buyee and a manga+dj order from Toranoana using BIJ’s forwarding service. I will not order from Honto.jp anymore - they don’t really have good programs and rarely any extras. On the other hand, Toranoana has many extra goodies for free and their point system is really good.
The English BL publishing market is really active nowadays - good for us! Too bad with the lack of paper, sometimes it is really hard (and expensive) to get a title. My favorite imprint atm is definitely KUMA - they print on gorgeous white paper and have dust covers, so they keep the original format. I hope they will get more and more titles licenced and released. Getting the new Saezuru tori volumes from Juné is always stressful, I really wish the license went to another, more trustworthy and reliable company...
Since I couldn’t order from honto.jp for a while, a few BL artbooks got released and I needed to have them. It was a good decision, all 4 look stunning. And all of them came with goodies (clearfile and/or postcards).
Along with the final title of Boku no Omawari-san, you could buy a case that can hold all 3 volumes. Most titles are new volumes of the series I follow: Given, Caste Heaven, Coyote etc.
As for dj, just the usual: YOI, SK8, Promare, Bnha, JJK.
Almost forgot: 3 new calendar for 2022. The usual HQ!! one (so happy they still make them even though the manga and the anime is over), the usual SnK one and a Nyanko sensei one (love the pastel colors this year, so soft and cute).
Last but not least, a beautiful gold foil shikishi of Tian Guan Ci Fu / Heaven official’s blessing, I bought from amiami.

The Danger for Yashiro and Doumeki
One thing that’s got me a little nervous after chapter 44 of Saezuru is the dynamic between Yashiro and Doumeki, and what Doumeki is thinking in terms of moving forward with Yashiro.  He’s clearly had a shift in attitude toward how best to approach Yashiro, and I think this is directly related to his epiphany at the end of volume 6, before the time skip.
Doumeki, after speaking with Nanahara, seems to have finally come to understand one of the reasons why Yashiro tried so hard to push him away, seemed to realize at last that it was his tenderness towards Yashiro, his kindness and gentility, that frightened him and pained him, and ultimately, drove him away.  Not that Doumeki was his subordinate, but that Yashiro couldn’t handle Doumeki’s regarding him with respect and admiration, with reverence even.  Doumeki at last understands that Yashiro’s masochism is, in reality, a defense mechanism,  the thing he relies on to maintain his own sanity, his own ability to cope with his trauma.  That Yashiro’s masochism is, in fact, a tool he relies on to continue operating at all, and that Doumeki’s kindness towards him was threatening his ability to retain his hold on that tool, threatening his ability to hold onto the facade he so desperately clings to in order to keep going.  That he likes pain, that he can’t enjoy sex without pain, that the trauma of his childhood abuse doesn’t impact him at all.
Doumeki realizes at last what it is he’s done to Yashiro in terms of breaking down his defenses, what breaking those defenses down actually means for Yashiro, how it robs him of his ability to continue believing he’s an unlovable creature, and forces him to face the reality that he’s a human being worthy of love, which in turn forces him to face the reality that what he went through as a child and an adult, was wrong, and actually mattered.
This epiphany for Doumeki is important, of course, because he finally is able to understand that Yashiro’s rejection of him is linked directly to Doumeki’s kindness, and Yashiro’s inability to handle that kindness, to process it or accept it for himself.  Doumeki understands now that Yashiro fears what will happen to him if that facade he clings to is taken away from him, that he believes he can’t let it go without losing himself totally, without losing the one thing that has managed to help him cope with and manage the pain and suffering he’s gone through in his life.  Doumeki realizes, I think, that Yashiro believes he’ll be destroyed without that coping mechanism, that he won’t any longer be able to function.
What worries me about Doumeki’s realization is that, in understanding that it was his kindness towards Yashiro that drove the wedge between them, that he’ll believe now that, the only way to win Yashiro back, is to start treating him abusively.  I don’t think it’s IN Doumeki to be abusive, not really.  He loves Yashiro deeply, and doesn’t want to hurt him at all.  But if he believes that the only way for Yashiro to cope with his love it to be violent with him, to hurt him, etc... then he might force himself to do it.  And that, I think, would be catastrophic for Yashiro and any chance he has of recovering and healing and beginning to process his trauma.  Because it would only reinforce Yashiro’s belief that he’s unlovable, and that he deserves to be abused, etc...  If the one person who’s actually returned Yashiro’s feelings, his love, suddenly becomes violent with him, I think it will just drive Yashiro deeper into his unhealthy coping mechanisms, and his untrue perception of himself.  It’s a tenuous situation, of course, because Doumeki might be thinking that the tenderness and kindness he showed Yashiro before ended up HURTING Yashiro, because, well, it DID.  And it would be logical then for Doumeki to conclude that it would hurt Yashiro less, be better for him, to simply be violent with him, to treat him the way he’s so used to being treated, the way he expects to be treated, because it’s so much easier and more comfortable for Yashiro that way.  If Doumeki became violent with Yashiro, it would be because he genuinely believed it was for the best.  But of course, it wouldn’t be.
I think one of the saddest moments in Saezuru, are those which show Yashiro early on, before he officially became a Yakuza, particularly, the scenes in which we see him being smacked around and beaten up, and Yashiro’s reaction to that treatment.  I’m specifically thinking of two scenes from volume 2, the first being when Yashiro tries to go back to his apartment to find the contact lenses he’d stolen from Kageyama, and Hirata punches him in the face, just out of nowhere, before his underlings proceed to beat Yashiro even worse.  The other scene is after Yashiro gets one of Hirata’s men thrown out of the group, and his roomate at the time hits him while he’s eating some noodles, knocking him to the floor and stepping on his head.  It’s Yashiro’s reaction to this abuse which is so upsetting, because he’s just so PASSIVE about it, his expression flat and painfully resigned.  You can tell from his reactions here that this is just what he’s used to, what he expects and fully believes he even deserves.  He doesn’t fight back, doesn’t defend himself, or even protest.  He just lays there and takes it, without complaint, or even a hint of it bothering him.  This is what he is, what he’s meant to be.  Other people’s punching bag.  We see that too in how he lets Hirata nearly kill him, WOULD have let Hirata kill him, if Doumeki hadn’t shown up and gotten shot.  It’s Yashiro’s own disregard for his own life, his inability to see value in his own life or well being, that makes the situation with Doumeki very scary to me.  Because if Doumeki makes the mistake of starting to hurt Yashiro while under the belief that it’s better for Yashiro than his gentleness, it’s only going to intensify Yashiro’s feelings of low self-esteem and self-loathing.
I hope my fears are misguided, and that Doumeki doesn’t start being violent with Yahsiro.  As painful as Doumeki’s kindness is for Yashiro, as frightening and confusing as it is for him, I think he absolutely needs it if he has any hope of ever healing from the pain his past, and the abuse he’s endured his entire life.

With everyone being stuck indoors, have you watched any good anime or read manga you would recommend?
Indeed I have! ^^ Lucky for me, everything I read and watched were really enjoyable so I’d recommend em all:
I finally watched the Bleach anime ❤️ I cannot wait for the anime adaptation of the final arc.
I also managed to watch Banana fish at last. The anime OP1 and ED1 are AWESOME. Hmm... While I found it a lil repetitive how the main antagonist kept pulling one bad dude after another out of his arse to torture and capture the MC, it was a good watch overall. Considering its infamy for being an absolute tearkjerker, I’d even spoiled myself in advance so as to not break down crying. Yeah, that didn’t work. I cried rivers :| (I read the final volume of the manga afterwards and that added to the pain)
BOKU NO HERO ACADEMIA SEASON 4. Oh my god the season finale was EPIC. (I’m a big fan of the series so you should definitely watch it if you haven’t already)
Fruits basket season 2. My love affair with furuba started when I read the manga as a young teen. Watching the anime after almost a decade has well and truly reinforced it. MUST WATCH. MUST READ. Shoujo manga fan or not. [Anime: ONGOING]
Wotaku ni koi wa muzukashii. A lighthearted story that purely entertaining. Otaku will find it hilarious :D The OP song is FUN!
Fugou keiji - balance: UNLIMITED. Started watching it on a whim after a friend said one of the MC’s is a “rich ikemen detective” and I WAS SOLD :D Maybe it’s a bit too soon to judge, but I don’t think it’s gonna have a compelling plotline. It’s entertaining though. The OP song is fantastic. [ONGOING]
Arte. Started on a whim. I like it so far. Young MC is the daughter of a noble in renaissance era Italy. She runs away from home after the death of her father to pursue her passion- art. She’s ballsy but also naive. [ONGOING]
Take your pick! ^
As for manga and manhwa (all BL :P)... As always, I’ll recommend: Wolf in the house, momentum, given, sasaki to miyano, and, saezuru tori wa habatakanai.
I enjoyed these: See you later mermaid [beautiful]  3ban sen no campanella [depressing but really nice]  penthouse xxx [funny]  path to you [CUTE!]
Some authors whose work I enjoy: Enjo, Itz, Furuya Nagisa... Natsume Isaku, Hinohara meguru, Ichikawa kei and Yamamoto Kotetsuko.
That’s it for now! I hope you’ll find something you enjoy from this list :) Stay safe and have fun!

Thank you for translating volume 2 of gift(I like it more than saezuru, which for me is saying a lot becaue I LOVE saezuru) ! I was wondering, where are you with it right now? Do you think we might see the next chapter in the next 2 or 3 months? I just don't want to keep waiting for something that might not come.
Hmm. I’m going to assume that you didn’t intend for the end of your message to sound as rude as it did. Yes, barring my untimely demise, you should see it within that timeframe. The next chapter is cleaned, translated and gone through all stages of proofing, so it’s in my typesetting queue. Which, admittedly, is of a daunting dimension, but I’ll start working on it shortly. I can only work as fast as I can work, though, and I’m still getting over this horrible illness, so I really can’t make any promises further than that.

What is your most favourite Saezuru volume?
Tumblr media
Mine is volume 5. Because this volume is so heavy on emotion.
Tumblr media
Just look at those pages. Yashiro looking so lost. And Doumeki embracing him in a way that we all want to hug and protect Yashiro from the world that has been so cruel to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is your favourite Saezuru volume cover?
Tumblr media
Mine is volume 2. For reasons I wrote in an essay in tumblr before. Summarizing the essay it is because of the metaphorical meaning it conveyed to me.
Said essays are here: essay 1 and essay 2
What is the saddest Saezuru volume for you?
I am thinking it is volume 5 or volume 6. But volume 6 won this spot.
Tumblr media
Because volume 6 is in some ways the end of the beginning and the end of so many other things. It is sad because it ended with both of them still walking even further into the dark. And with nothing emotionally resolved. I almost thought there was hope in all those volumes. But then my hopes were crushed along with Doumeki and Yashiro's hearts.
