It's so funny to me that the fandom has come to see Hirano as a Sasamiya promoter of sorts because while he is, it took him some time to get accustomed to the idea of them together. And while he was never a hater Sasaki's actions towards Miyano certainly used to get on his nerves.
At first he was so worried and probably even felt a little guilty because (as mentioned in the following screenshot) because the only reason why Sasaki knows which class Miya is in, is thanks to him.
But like, that's not the face of a friend that's happy to play cupid and get their two acquaintances together. Not at all, that's the face of someone who puts his sempai-kouhai relationship with Miyano over his (pseudo) friendship with Sasaki.
Hirano from the first chapters would have jailed Sasaki if he were allowed to. (And he has his reasons, Sasaki has been something since the first chapters)
Anyway, the progression of events is really interesting.
He started, quite literally, shielding Miyano from Sasaki.
Then, he came to accept their relationship.
And at the end he really was rooting for them, to the point he ended up outright lying just so Miyano could meet Sasaki and they could talk it out and confess.

in discussions of culture—cultural identity, preservation of culture and so on—, one thing i think is often unjustifiably assumed or unquestioned is the rigidity of culture in question
i say "unjustifiably assumed" even though of course for a culture to be a coherent concept through time, it is justified to expect certain elements to be maintained (in tandem) so that it's still recognizably identified as the development of the same culture, even as it is constantly changing. what i mean is that sometimes people shut down arguments or discussions (often on more sensitive topics) regarding culture as attempts at erasing cultures— while unjustifiably assuming their rigidity, which i, for one, do not subscribe to. and to be sure, discussions can be had about where the limits to how much a culture can change before it loses its identity are and so on (even should be had), but without this assumption that any change of culture is tantamount to an attempt at its erasure
this is best exemplified when there's a clash between a guiding ethical principle and a cultural practice. bodily autonomy : genital mutilation, animal rights : animal sacrifice etc. i think that deeming any argument against a cultural practice as an attempt at erasing a culture is wrong and that's (at least in part) because i think that it is wrong—even kinda disrespectful—to assume that those cultures couldn't accommodate changes to those practices
(it's obviously even more misguided to characterize those kinds of general arguments as discriminatory against a specific culture, but that's another thing)

Having finally finished The Once and Future King, I feel the need to share the incredible reasoning for why Guenevere can never actually love her husband and falls for Lancelot instead:
She thinks Arthur is "so old" and on the "verge of senility" because she is a little baby 22 and he is a decrepit, ancient 30. Which yes is exactly how a 22 year old should feel about a 30 year old trying to be in a relationship with them but also is just deeply hilarious to me. T.H. White did not have to go so hard and I respect him for that.

Alice's next step
each step was deeper then then last. the wonder land "water moss" kept splashing on the fifth's boots "how much longer? I've been trapped in this forest for who knows how long." the fifth said. "well if path was as bright as it once was perhaps, I'm not even sure if were on it" the first said. "you keep mentioning that what colour was this so called path?" the fifth asked the first's phantom. "ah the colour would be a blood red." the first said. the fifth with the first's sword in hand checked the vine in front them for any life.
"just cut it down who cares if it's alive or not." the first said. "I do this world is interesting it would be a shame if the inhabitants were to die." the fifth said. "are we talking about the same world. you can see me right I'm not talking to another insolent child am I?" the first said. "yes we are talking to each other. it's just I feel like it would be a bad mistake to kill anything here." the fifth said.
"I can understand why you think that Alice..." the first said. the fifth stood still and turned to meet the first's gaze. "what?" the fifth asked. "everything here is meant to keep you here. I learned that early on. so I cut down everything in my way... everything that kept me here." the first looked down at the fifth. "I see but there letting me pass." the fifth said as some striped vines moved out of the way. "that's because you have the red Ace on your hand. nothing will mess with you if you have my power." the first smirked. "yet you used that power to hurt others." the fifth said. "you wouldn't understand. I had a family a husband, a Daughter." the first said with a clenched fist.
"you also have my voice, so if intimidation doesn't work we can always charm them." the second said placing a hand on the fifth's shoulder. the first then swiftly pulled the second off of the fifth. "I thought all that time you spent serving tea to nobles taught you to not butt in on a lady's conversation." the first said putting the second in a head lock. "well you charmer aren't you-" but before the second could finish the first put her hand over his mouth as the second pulled at the arm around his throat. "I know when your planing something. we have a genuine chance to get back at this world. don't let your own stupid agenda hold us back." the first said.
after a bit of prodding the second manged to wiggle free. "and you aren't, I hope you don't plan on playing the saint not after what you said mere moments ago. the whole "just cut it down who cares if it's alive." we know your sob story, and hate to brake it to you it doesn't make up for the literal genocide you committed!" the second said. "genocide? Alice you-you didn't commit a genocide." the fifth said shocked. "oh, you didn't tell her?" the second said a large grin slowly spreading across his face. the fifth Ran off path. "no don't go into the woods!" the first yelled. the first then turned to the second. "You'll pay for this when we get back. mark my words." the first said hostility dripping form her voice. "I'd like to see you try." the second said smugly.

what are ur thoughts on the winners room trope?
ooooo okay surface level analysis: i like winner’s room fics :)
etwas tieferes: i think it’s cool that it’s (afaik) unique to hockey fandom and i enjoy the way it integrates a lot of unspoken rules in hockey with desire/makes them a physical/tangible reality… also the narrative potentials/world-building it opens up can be fun because there’s not really a set of rules for the “winner’s room” trope. are there in-universe rules? who gets chosen? who’s exempt? who gets to pick? where’s it going down? is it the entire room or one guy? what if your (ex)boyfriend is on another team? does somebody need to be taught a lesson or do you need to remind someone who got traded you still love them? also, most important, winner’s room gives you the chance to put two random-ass guys you saw interact for 0.002 seconds and went “hmmm. interesting” about into a Situation and i love that

im honestly still so surprised that i got hired... i started seriously job searching back in mid august and ive applied to around... 40 to 50 jobs which is so unreal to think about... after each interview + not hearing back from the interviewer, i kept wondering what i did wrong or if there was something wrong with me u__u i was easier to reassure myself in the beginning that maybe there were just a lot of other candidates or something but after the 3rd or 4th interview it got a lot harder to not think that it was my fault (''': and it's so !!!! frustrating because it's not really common to ask for feedback after interviews which just makes me feel so stuck because ?? what am i supposed to do how am i supposed to improve??
anyway i went in with somewhat low expectations but im really really glad i got hired ('': the interviewer (manager possibly) has been soooo sweet to me so far and it's such a breath of fresh air and im really really hoping that its not a situation where she just seems nice but actually isnt )): the commute there and back is going to take some time but if the work enviro is good then itll be worth it i think 0:

so I've read and have understood the statistics about suicide on men vs women, and how men pick more violent methods of suicide, but i'm starting to fully realize how that played a role on my attempt when i was 14(almost a full decade ago).
I didnt think of it at the time, but I now realize even in trying to attempt my own death, I considered everybody but myself. and looking at the statistics it seems most women are the same too. apparently even to the death were conditioned to not even think of ourselves
