Rydelsa love spoons

(Hey @wintersovereign, these two lovable dorks have spoons now.)

Ryder carved them out of reindeer antlers, although they aren’t of the highest craftsmanship and he knows it, presenting them to Elsa as proof of his worthiness as a provider for her and their future children. Let the record stand that he totally didn’t ask Kristoff about other convention marital rituals in Arendelle beyond a wedding ring.

(Okay, so I didn’t exactly lie when I said it would be a bit before I posted this, I just didn’t expect to finish with it within a few days. Also, let me know if you want me to tell you what the details symbolize.)

MUN Talk

For some freaking reason, while everyone is Elsa/Honeymaren (Elsamaren) or Ryder/Kristoff (Rydoff), I'm sitting over here contemplating if Helsa is still my main OTP or if (and this is the weird one) Ryder/Elsa is my new OTP.

Because, Elsa's a former Queen/fifth spirit who knows (next to, because that's always fun) nothing about surviving in the wilderness other than how to use her ice powers and call the other spirits. Ryder is just ... He's the innocent, excited, honest guy who lives in the forest and loves taking care of his people and their reindeer.

I kinda like it as a pairing, a royal and a Northuldran (and yeah, it's basically because I love Agduna and Kristanna is so cute too).

Now, people can ship whoever they want. Am I alone in my shipping of Elsa and Ryder? I will be captain and crew of this ship if I have to.

Rydelsa Headcanon 1

Ryder likes to watch Elsa use her powers, it makes him smile to watch her move and construct things like small ice sculptures for the tribes' children or conjuring up statues for reference for their traders when they reach Arendelle. Seeing her being so happy and free makes him feel that way, and it's the best feeling to him.

And, on nights when she takes requests for what to make, and it's his turn, he says "whatever makes you happy, because I'm already looking at the most beautiful woman made of ice."

, Ryder knew nothing about girls, and he was happy with it. He didn’t want to know, not yet anyway. He was content with his reindeer, with the help that Honeymaren gave him with their shared occupation, and with life in the tribe as it was. Sure they would occasionally come across Matthias and his soldiers, the group often being a tale of terror that children were told from a time before them, back from a time when things between them and a place that was not known to their ears went sour. Left in the forest to terrorize them. All kept inside by the mist that parted for no one.

That mist, that very same one, parted for a group of travelers from that very place. Arendelle. Maybe, if tensions hadn’t been so high, Ryder might have said hello to them. But everyone was scared and untrusting, a life that Ryder and Honeymaren were sadly accustomed to as Northuldra born within the mist. Everyone would have attacked each other, if not for a sudden coating of ice on the ground. Sure he hid behind his sister, but she had always been the braver of the two. But, after discovering that they (Elsa and Anna) were Northuldra, the tribe sang their song of Vuelie to the two, welcoming them into the tribe.

After that escapade, Ryder being with the tribe for most of it after Kristoff’s mistimed marriage proposal for Anna, the mist was clear. The sky was so large and.. there was so much of it. So much blue and sunlight in the day, so many stars in the dark blue of night. And in the darkness of night he would catch the glowing white of a certain fifth spirit’s dress, as she moved around the fire for talk or during celebrations, and it made him smile. Seeing her smile made him smile, her laugh on the wind made him laugh as well. Her happiness became his.

Elsa became his concern, she was a member of his tribe after all. But eventually, he found that he wanted to know those things he didn’t know before about girls. How to act, what to say.. Should he dive right in? Should he go to Kristoff for help? He didn’t want to make a fool of himself, but felt like he was anyway with each passing day he failed to a single thing to her.

Ryder knows nothing about girls or romance; Elsa knows a lot about romance from books and from watching Anna and Kristoff. Together, they are so awkward that it's both cute and sad

Elsa likes chocolate, Ryder doesn't. Okay, he likes the taste of it on Elsa's lips. But that's it

Elsa takes Ryder's hat and wears it, often. He doesn't mind, he likes to see her smile and whenever she wears it, Elsa smiles

Honeymaren being a pest and playfully teasing her brother about him and Elsa

Sven is the only reasonable one here (he totally isn't planning Ryder and Elsa's wedding)

Olaf and his snow siblings have a bet going on for who will propose first, Olaf and half of the Snowgies say it's Elsa. Marshmallow and the others argue that it's Ryder. All of them agree they aren't calling Ryder "papa"

Elsa shows Ryder around Arendelle, both the town and castle. Everyone totally isn't invested about this strange man from Northuldra who is brought home (Kai and Gerda split the profits from a castle betting pool about Elsa's "reason" for not coming home)

Trolls are 100/10 excited: “she’s finally got a man!” “Pabbie called it!” “Now, now - I sensed their father’s inability to stay away from.. wilder lifestyled people in them both." "Nice save." "It wasn't."

I drew some Rylsa/winter reindeer.

And yeah, Elsa is wearing Northuldra clothing because I couldn't find a reference for her dress in the art book my sister got me I was using for reference. I also can't draw hair in general.

Elsa's crown is based on a text post from @wintersovereign, except Ryder used the band of white fur from his hat (effectively destroying it, RIP Ryder's hat) to line the twigs along her forehead.

I listened to the cover of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" sang as a duet by Idina Menzel and Michael Bublé. It felt really wholesome hearing their voices singing it. I claim it as a Rydelsa song. Sorry, I make the rules for this blog.

(The song, for those who don't know, was originally written in 1944. When social norms were different- women or men couldn't stay at each other's houses late into the night or overnight without people thinking they were having affairs with one another. But Ryder? Nah. Look, he knows nothing about relationships - even less about women - so he'd be more concerned with Elsa getting hurt or freezing in the cold.)
