Puns and Fun!
a robocar poli oneshot.
[A/N, nothing much, just crack, puns, fun, and puns that have to do with Poli's name :> got this idea from a comment lol. Also, polyamory at the end hehe, try guessing which ship it is]
"Hey. Hey. Heyyyyyy."
"Helly, no. I'm trying to organize Jin's papers for her-"
"I gotta say something important to you tho!"
It was just another day at the Rescue Team HQ, and surprisingly it was pretty peaceful. No accidents happened in Broomstown, and none of the members were dispatched for any emergencies for once. It was the team's lucky day!
Since it was their rare day off, they decided to just relax and do their own thing. And what did Helly decide to do? Annoy the crap out of Poli.
"Alright, what do you want?" Poli asked sternly, annoyed with Helly's nonsense. The robocopter giggled before speaking- "Okay, okay- what do you call Poli if he was a shape?" From the look on Helly's face, it was clear he was trying not to laugh. That took a while for Poli's mind to process.
"...what?" He tilted his head in puzzlement. "What do you call Poli if he was a shape?" Helly repeated himself. This was getting more harder for him to conceal his laughter. "..." It was only until Poli realised what was going on.
"A POLIGON! Get it? As in polygon? *wheeze*" Helly rolled on the ground in laughter as Poli stared at him in unamusement. "...Wow. Helly, wow." He replied sarcastically. "Helly, please get out of this room before I smack you on the head-" "AA-"
...
Timeskip. After that whole ordeal, Jin was discussing about the plan for tommorow's patrol around town with Poli, Roy and Amber. Helly still hasn't arrived yet. It's not exactly an uncommon occurrence for him to be a bit late for certain things.
"I hope you're all enjoying your break, everyone! We just need to have one meeting about tommorow's patrol, and you all can go back to whatever you were doing." The robocars nodded, though a few of them looked a bit less than pleased for a meeting. Amber was completely fine, Roy looked like he just got his nap interrupted by the Rescue Team's speakers as if they were right next to him, and Poli... well, you know. Nonetheless, the three kept up their professional additudes.
"Poli, you'll check around town central. I've heard there have been more signs of littering lately, and Cleany has been working overtime, so if you run into him, lend a hand for him please." "Sounds good!"
"Roy, you patrol in the suburbs. More children have been playing outside more often on the streets, especially Kevin and Doug- meaning that there'll be more of a risk of injuries, so be on the lookout for any kids on the street." "Got it." Roy yawned softly, but not that loudly, just so he doesn't offend Jin.
"And Amber, your destination is the current construction site for the new train station. This project is going to be a big one, and we don't want any construction accidents happening, so remember to bring your first aid kit and make sure it is ready at all times." "Alright. You can count on me!"
"As always, if you see any suspicious activity going around, remember to report it. ..And Helly isn't here yet. Why am I even surprised.." The blonde said out of disappointment, internally getting ready to scold him once he makes his appearance.
"Aha, yeah.. you know he's like this. Well, not always, but it's somewhat typical of him." Roy chuckled softly at Jin's expression of dissapointment and annoyance. "That's true. I guess you're never going to get used to this, aren't you, Jin?" Amber giggled. Just then, as if on cue, Helly burst open the door to the command room where the other rescue members were in. "I'M HERE!" Helly yelled, laughing loudly, as if he just thought of another pun to spew out.
"Oh no.. please, not another pun-" The police car was already tired of Helly's jokes, he looked like he just wanted to do nothing but flop on the couch and sleep. [A/N and... potentially cuddle with roy bcuz they're both tired, maybe with amber too hehe]
"Helly! I swear, this is the fourth time in a week you have been late to another meeting! When will you lear-" Jin scolded. "Hold on! I got a good one!" Helly said those words in between laughter. "A good one? A good what?" She questioned.
"Hehe, okay- just listen." "If Poli, Roy and Amber were in polyamorous relationship, what would their ship name be?"
"wait... HUH-?!" The three of them instantly started blushing. They were clearly flustered and were caught offguard.
"POLIAMROY! As in POLYAMORY!"
Before the three knew it, their faces were flushing quite excessively. The look of pure embarrassment and flusteredness was right in front of Helly and Jin. The way Helly blurted out those words so suddenly just caught them so off guard that they couldn't comprehend any words for a few seconds.
"D-Damn you, Helly...!" Poli was trying to hide his blush with his arms, and then immediately tried to get out of the situation by running out of the room, but just ended up accidentally hitting his face against the wall.
"W-Wha- you- why would you- oh gosh..." Amber's cheeks were more pink than the paint on her. This may have been the most flustered she's ever been- and she's quite adorable too. If she had a thermometer with her now, her temperature would be probably be as high as a fever.
Roy? He just couldn't speak. Yeah, he'd probably need a fire hose to cool him off and reduce the heat he's experiencing from being so flushed.
Helly couldn't stop giggling at their priceless faces. Jin was just astonished, and even felt a little amused by the sight in front of her. She even chuckled a bit. "..Well, this wasn't something I was expecting to see today. Well, our meeting's dismissed, and if you're all still in your flustered state by tommorow, we might have to postpone the patrol, shouldn't we?"

love i share
(robocar poli oneshot)
(tw: illness, depression, assisted $u|c|d3)
It's the dawn of my creation. The moment I opened my eyes, the world felt otherworldly.
The first faces I saw were of shock,
but they were basking in unmasked love.
They were my family. Poli and Roy served as my older brothers full of responsibility dare they take up. Amber was my mentor, my undying platonic strewn over. (And whenever leaking spur, my mind was all about her uncontrollably.)
I had been the cheery little brother my team, my family, had grown to see. We were happy on our own, but felt happier ruling over the town. Superiority at its finest is when we plead our strength. We have arms and legs while the inept citizens have wheels to compensate.
We were cars, robots, robocars living until the day we rust hundreds of years later. And there was our leader, our stunning, intelligent, beloved leader. She was a human, unlike all of us superiors, but we grew to love her as part of our team.
"I promise," the sweet dripping from her voice, "I will never leave you." Her love bloomed.
She called me Helly. I was the most loved, yet most hated. Childlike and preserved I show, her tiny hands roaming my metal frame as she looked for imperfections.
She was a mother.
Only pure sweet I felt, none drenched in bitterness. A holding hand reaching me out, tenderness when I touch.
Us four do her every bidding. Independent we are, yet dependent on love. She nurtured us despite her lackings. Every rescue, a fresh coat of paint. Every accident, kisses goodnight. We were grown and we cherish a mother's love dearly.
One dawn in October, I scurried to the control room like a lost rat. My mind didn't fathom any activities yet I felt energetic. I was halted by a ear piercing scream.
Mother woke up. I snuck to the door, peeking slightly. Breathing so fast she did, her hair unkempt. Her hand wavered to the air, looked like she was touching something.
Or someone.
"Is it my time now?" she asked bewilderingly.
Slowly, she nodded, I could feel tears running through her. She sighed, yet a big grin flashed on her face. Light through the dusk basking in the headquarters. I felt confused.
I brushed it off soon after.
I should've come back to it.
It deeply hurt us when October came.
"Tuberculosis." I wish I could unhear the doctor's stern words.
How couldn't we notice? Her frequent coughs, fevers, tiredness; Smart us robots are, we aren't devoid of knowledge when in need.
"It has spread outside of her lungs." I forced a sob. "There's a chance she may survive, but I believe it's by a wide margin."
Doctor's appointments mother always missed, as she never came, seeing herself perfectly fine. She didn't care about her deteriorating immune system, even if she couldn't stand up no more. I should've suspected something when she always tightly gripped her chest, wheezing in clear out of breath state, yet I failed to see her pain amidst.
"How much is treatment gonna cost?" Amber asked. Her eyes glowed with hope despite the previous words.
"It's three thousand dollars for the medicine, and if the patient wishes to be confined, it's twenty three thousand."
"That's pocket money!" Roy bellowed a laugh to lighten the grueling mood. "We'll do it-"
"No."
She was smiling.
"I refuse to take the treatment." She repeated in a longer statement.
The doctor was impaled with sympathy.
Arguing aroused at home. Once a happy household drowned in bickering.
"Why would you refuse treatment, Jin?" Amber asked devastatingly. Her voice cracked every cry and her anger chilled me inside. Laidback once now fuming.
Comfortable in her orange pajamas, "I would still die in a few years even if i take the treatment." her voice was small, weaker than of Ambers.
"But you would still live longer..." my voice quivered when I said that statement. I wanted her to live yet I wished for her death.
"My decision." she simply said. A small smile she wore. Her tired eyes extenuated her frail body.
Poli and Roy didn't talk to her out of anger, only when there are rescue missions. Amber frequently tried to get her to reconsider, yet she stayed true to her word. Mourning was pain in their vocabulary.
But I only wished her best.
She still ran the rescue station beneath her crumbling health. Rescue missions continued, the town blissfully unaware of her sickness. Her pain left ignored. Countless pleas made; yet she never complied.
"Please, Jin. Poli and Roy only want you to get better." Amber tried hard, downward spiral ensues.
"They should respect my dying wish." her lips were chapped as forced a smile.
Nothing was the same.
Arguments erupted about her illness I tend to stay sway from. I cower every shout, I fly away when glass breaks. My fingers touch the outskirts of town, where I banter with the inferior townsfolk.
"Wanna play ball, Helly?" Annoying voice Bruner used, I refused instantly. I'm weeping in my own sadness.
I stood at the edge of the cliff, admiring the stars above. I saw her eyes glowing in the stars. Her smile a million stars I felt.
I felt her love.
Yet I can never feel it.
The undying pleasure where love once shined basked in underlying darkness. Depressing environment I flew in, blooming flowers wilting.
Poli and Roy became distant. Sad glares chipped up their frames, dipped in hatred. They didn't speak with her (I didn't understand how they could leave her love untouched.) and came to the headquarters less and less. I worried for them, but I didn't care.
They left her.
Amber stayed, health deteriorated. Her tears made her rust, bright paint once ladled in sad rustic orange. I kept her bright, painting over the scars. Yet they still persisted. Her pain leveled with the tuberculosis.
They couldn't take care of themselves no more.
Thankfully, the missions died down. I became Amber's nurse, ironically. (Mother didn't want a caretaker watching her every move.) Calm her premature tears, engine oil leaking, I become despondent seeing everyone lose hope in my eyes.
I was in the repair center, she looked me dead in the eyes. I didn't feel love pulsating from her veins.
It's sad.
It's been months. Mother's health is down the drain. Amber was getting better, her mental state didn't. Her days spent by looking over the port, finessing the sea. She shouted at me when I disrupted her peace of mind (which it wasn't, she went insane). Amber long ago stopped convincing mother to take treatment.
I have been on her side since illness shown. Making small talk, and didn't rush her need to get treatment. I only wished her wish to come true, live her best life as I serve her day and night. But her love never bloomed once again, like a wilting flower, bits chopped.
It was a cold October night, I finished my patrol immediately going back to her side. I'm greeted by Amber in the door, her eyes sunk, her metal rusting once more. I smile at her dearly, and she smiles back. I make my way to her room.
"Helly," she says bluntly.
I open my mouth to speak, yet interrupted. "Meet me at the garden, strictly midnight." her frail voice reminds me.
This was going down a dark path, but I trust my guts, trust her mind. Her body was of thin breadsticks and a orange bonnet she wore, lost of all her hair. Yet one sweet smile still remained on her face, though pale and wrinkled.
Midnight came by. I spot Amber in the race track. She was sobbing. She was always like this and I leave her be. I fly to the garden solemnly, spotting her amongst the array of flowers.
I retract my propeller as I land. It was so peaceful. She was looking at the sky above, twinkling stars and the glowing moon. I love seeing mother happy.
She looks at me. She smiles. "You came."
"I always will." I reply.
"Helly, do you know why I didn't want treatment?"
I sigh. "Why?"
"I wanted to die, Helly."
My eyes widen with that answer. Never did I see her as suicidal, she showered us with her affection and never showed herself her own. I felt terrible, rust crawling through my metal frame.
"Don't think about it the wrong way," she sighs heavily, "I love all of you, Poli, Roy, Amber, and especially you. But-" she paused.
"Why?" I blurt out painfully.
"They're calling me, Helly. Heaven." angelic tears, "My dad, he's calling me. I've got to leave this world."
Her dad has been a controversial topic. Like her, he had gave her love, looking up to him. Yet he died, sadly.
"Why?" I repeat, more sincerely.
"I miss his love, Helly."
Her painfully stupid but passionate decision shot daggers through my running engine. Death called her attention and was willing to sacrifice it just to feel love.
I forgot she was a real human, one that was amazing.
"I'm sorry," I say,
"I love you," I mutter.
She died, her glow fading in my arms. Her skin as pale as snow. Amber wailed so hard, cursing the world. I felt tears streak my frame.
Mother was a joy.
"I promise," the sweet dripping from her voice, "I will never leave you." Her love bloomed.
Lies.
For once, I hated her love. Selfishness engulfed her being. We wanted her to be okay, and she didn't consider our feelings in the matter. All she wanted was to feel love.
Love.
Poli and Roy returned for the funeral. Awkwardness ensued when we sat together. Though they were deeply cracked inside, they found a way to smile. All of us. Amber's rust didn't show.
"How are you?" Roy asks, his voice husky from crying.
"You left us." Amber mutters harshly.
"I'm sorry." Roy sobs, "I- i'm sorry, I was angry a- and I didn't- I didn't fucking- fuck!"
Poli kept his cool, weeping in silence.
Her dark umbre casket lowered down and covered in dirt. Flowers dumped at the grave. Poli on his knees, begging for forgiveness. I stood there blankly.
Life never returned to normal, for me. Poli and Roy wiggled themselves into Amber's forgiveness, yet I enver forgave them further. They were stupid for even returning after leaving her for a simple misunderstanding of decisions.
Yet the only reason they returned was because of,
me.
Their stupid asses will never know. Never further looking at the autopsy report. They will never know her smile when I wrapped my arms around her neck, the crack of her bones, how I sobbed on her body throughout the night. When Amber found it, she was speechless. Thought she died of her illness.
I hid the autopsy safe in my room, none suspecting a single thing.
That night, she was persistent.
"Kill me, Helly."
Her love blinded me.
I felt it.
Her love, shining once more.
I watched Poli, Roy, and Amber hug each other goodbye. I watched the consequences of my decision thrive.

# . . ! tags; fluff/angst (mostly on roy's part, though)
Having achieved his dream of being a recuse member, he already had his life set in stone. Saving others from unfortunate incidents.
However, the firetruck never could save himself at times. (Which was, mostly.)
And today was one of those days.
Roy sighed wearily, his gaze saddening as he closed the electrical panel after inspecting it thoroughly at Mr.Builders place. Today was quite the exhausting day, even the overworking fire truck could admit that to himself. It was one of those days where he just wanted to quit and imagine himself laying onto his bed, happy to even hear his own thoughts.
But, he couldn't. He had to please others around him, that was the goal he set for himself.
“Roy!” Mr.Builder yelled with glee as he approached the firetruck, quickly making Roy snap out of his carousel of thoughts.
“O-Oh! Erm, ah-..” Roy fiddled with his fingers, desperately trying to compose himself as quickly as possible. He couldn't just show off this state to anyone. Even his own rescue team. The firetruck despised it when anyone would worry about him. He was fine.
Well, he thought he was fine.
“..Yes?” Which was what he managed to mutter out, cringing at his own answer. His eyebrows furrowing, pondering as to why he just didn't feel his best.
“Seems like you've finished ya work here? Well, that's great! Oh, and also–” Mr.Builder suddenly tilted his head, taking notice of how dull the firetrucks expression was. “Hey, Roy? What's with the long face? Is your day not going swell?..” Mr.Builder spoke with a concerned tone. In response, Roy shook his hands frantically.
“Oh, nono! Don't worry, don't worry! I'm just fine!”
Roy gulped. He just lied. But, he didn't want to worry anyone about his day.
His day contained of bratty children screaming at the firetruck, all because he was concerned for their safety. He also had to set out many fires, having to face families look at their now charred houses.
..But he couldn't tell Mr.Builder that.
“Ya sure? Well, can't be helped! I'm just a big worrywart, aha.” Mr.Builder scratched his head, chuckling. “As I was sayin’, could ya check out some fallen signs in the mountains? Me and my team jus’ don't have the time with the new construction.”
He didn't want to. But, what could he say? He'd rather toss his emotions into a bottle and ship it overseas than to face a disappointed citizen's face. “Oh, of course Mr.Builder. I'll get on to it.” Roy spoke with a quiet soft sigh, saying his goodbyes and transforming into his vehicle form to drive off to the mountains.
. . .
The police car was patrolling the road to the mountains, humming softly along with the whimsical tunes of birds chirping.
Poli stopped his humming when he spotted quite the familiar red silhouette from the distance, it wouldn't take a genius to find out who that red paint belonged to.
“Roy! Hey, Roy!”
Roy stopped in his tracks. He knew Poli too well; and so did Poli. It would take a matter of seconds for the police car to find out that something wasn't right.
‘Pretend you didn't see him, pretend you didn't see him..’ Roy talked to himself in a whispered tone, swiftly turning around and driving the other way. To which leaving the police car puzzled.
“Huh? What's going on?” Poli raised an eyebrow, this wasn't like Roy. Concerned, Poli started to drive towards Roy's direction.
“Roy! C'mon, what's up?” Ack. That concerned tone left a bitter taste in Roy's mouth and heart. The guilt started to settle in, and so were emotions that started to bubble.
“..D-Don't..-” Roy swallowed his stutters, his voice obviously cracking. This only added to Poli's concerns. “Don't worry, I'm, u-uh.. fine.” The guilt at last has come up to the surface as his eyes were pricked with bubbles of tears. Roy refused to face Poli, not in this way. He needed to escape the situation. “U-Uhm, gotta go. See you.” The firetruck started to drive away, his tears already spilling on his frame.
“..Roy? Wait, no! Roy!” Before Roy could react, Poli sped right in front of him. No surprise for the fastest car in Broomstown. “Roy, you're acting off. Please tell me wha-” Poli stopped his rambles of questions to a halt when he saw tears bubbling in the beady eyes of the firetruck. “Oh, Roy..” Poli sighed sadly, driving closer next to his best friend, touching his tire against his.
And that was the final arrow to break the bottle of emotions as Roy started to sob. The guilt completely ate his composure away. “I'm- I..! S-So..” Roy choked on his words, only to be interrupted by his sobs.
“Shh,” Poli shushed the firetruck, softly rubbing against his tire. “It will be okay. Just spill it all out, friend.”
. . .
After Roy finally had calmed down from this aching moment, the two had transformed and were sitting on the hills of Galaxy hill, admiring the view while Roy had finally talked out his problems.
“Ah, so that's what happened.” Poli sighed with a hint of frustration. Those damn kids.. He'll be sure to speak to their parents after this ordeal. “Thank you for telling me, Roy. But you could have told me sooner.”
“I'm sorry..” Roy looked down to his hands. “I just, don't want to worry anyone. Everyone always has this image of me being the strongest, and I just have to keep to that expected image of theirs.”
“Not true, I don't.”
“What?” Roy was rather surprised by this answer, his mouth slightly open.
“Sure, you're the strongest and can lift an entire boulder with ease. But that doesn't mean you always have to throw your feelings way like nothing. I care about you, Roy. And so does the entire team as well. We all care about you.” Poli smiled at him, a glint of appreciation in his eyes. Roy has always protected the town with such care.
And now it was his turn to take care of Roy.
Roy's mouth was about to open to say something, but he was met by an embrace from the police car.
“P-Poli, I..” A tear formed in his eye. But this was a happy one. “Thank you, Poli.” Roy hugged him back tightly, finally finding his usual warm smile plastered on his face.
“Roy, I'll be there for you, whenever and wherever.

Alright! It's time to finally release my Robocar Poli AU into the wild! Now...
To generalize what would happen:
At Option 1, you'll get some basic explanations on how vehicles come to exist, bigotry involving them, and way too much innuendos and some discussions on possibly explicit scenarios.
At Option 2, you'll learn about the founders behind the "Robocar Project", their immediate downfall and a tragic love story wrapped in the 80's.
At Option 3, you'll learn where Helly used to be prior to being a Rescue Team member, military sillies...and an omnious stalker with GLADoS, Serial Designation J, and Himiko Toga-esque manners.
At Option 4, it's gonna be a oneshot of what is happening to Poli after an altered scene in that blackout episode where something from Helly got into him, and its only objective is to recover lost files.
At Option 5, MORE Helly angst! This time taking place in the same timestamp as Option 3 and explains what the heck I meant at Option 4 + how Helly is somehow one of the most technologically powerful characters of the AU.
And at Option 6, you'll get an explanation on how the Rescue Team met each other...which was a load of bull[REDACTED] involving mistrust...and too much trololo.

i have a writing request!
royber! just imagine amber taking care of roy while hes sick (for the 100th time) (he doesnt want to admit it)
broken toy
It was another day in Broomstown. The idiots were squirming, the construction workers were hoarding,
Amber worries herself in the headquarters.
“Helly, have you seen Roy?” she asked.
“Roy? He just went to Spooky’s house to help him carry some tires.”
Amber’s eyes widened in shock. “What? But I told him not to-”
"Calm down!” Helly said in a feeble attempt to cheer her up. “I’m sure Roy’s gonna be fine! He’s a strong guy.”
“I know that, Helly! It’s just…” Amber paused, sighing. “He’s been working overtime for the past few weeks. Something might happen-”
“It’ll be fine! He’s done that before.” Helly replied in a joking manner, but it pissed off Amber more than it should. “But he has been looking rough for the past few days.”
“One of these days Jin won’t be able to fix him…”
“Don’t worry too much.”
Amber sighed in defeat, but grateful for the anything but wise words of her friend. At least he was trying, but Helly didn't realize how much it scared her to see Roy in a coma, or suffering in general. The fire truck had been working and working for weeks on end, something not even Poli could withstand.
Everyone else passed it off as hard work, but Amber didn't see a hardworking guy, she saw an insomniac in the making just waiting for his engine to fail.
She was, in fact, right.
Amber heard the incessant banging of metal at the front door. She sighed in annoyance before checking it out.
...
“Dude, what have you got yourself into?” Helly’s voice screamed worry, metal scraped against the floor.
“It’s…” Roy’s voice was weak.
When Amber entered the room, time seemed to stop. Roy looked awfully redder than usual, his arms were scraped in gray and his usual cheery demeanor diminished into a sad-eyed glimmer. Helly carried him like a weak trainee.
She felt like something snapped in her.
This happened many times before, yet she still felt as if her gas pressure ran high.
“Roy!” Amber rushed to the firetruck’s side, completely ignoring Helly, even pushing his helping arms aside, shocking the latter.
“He fainted while carrying tires,” Helly replied to compensate, but Amber didn’t seem to care. “Get Jin.” Amber hollered at the helicopter.
Helly shrugged. “Right now or-”
“Now.”
Helly flinched. “Okay, okay!” he flew away from the room, leaving the two lovers alone.
Amber sighed, looking at Roy straight in the eyes. “I told you not to take that offer." she said sternly. Anger boiled.
"I told you not to worry," Roy replied, his voice still calm and collected in comparison to Amber's rage-inducing fit of a voice.
"Not to worry?" Amber scoffed. "Of course I will worry, you're my boyfriend! You matter to me than anyone in this damn headquarters. For once, can you listen to what I say to you?"
Roy's face was becoming redder by the second. "It's not my fault I want to help the town. And I am listening, I just think it's wrong for you to-"
"It's wrong for me to worry about my own boyfriend? I can't believe your pettiness-"
"I'm not even that sick! Helly worried for no fucking reason-"
"You're literally redder than your own paint! Stop denying and just lay down-"
"I still have to finish-"
"LISTEN TO ME AND FUCKING REST, WILL YOU?"
...
It was silent.
"Uh, guys?" Helly's frail voice spoke up. Jin was next to him, shaking her head in dismay.
"Oh, it's you guys." Amber said, attempting to put up a happy façade.
"Let's talk later." Jin said bluntly. "Roy, c'mere. I'll patch you up."
Helly awkwardly watched the two lovers getting separated. Roy drove to Jin groggily, and they left the room.
"What happened?" he asked Amber, who was silent the entire time.
"I don't know." she answered, her voice was cracking. "I just- I just snapped at him."
"Yeah, that was scary! I've never seen you so angry."
Amber felt like she wanted to cry. "I only wanted him to be... better. I just want him to look out for himself. He barely listens to anything I say and runs off into another rescue. It's just..."
"Don't worry, Amber. Roy will probably understand. He's not gonna stay angry at you forever. You guys always make up after a fight. Poli said you're inseparable." Helly smiled into his words, calming Amber by the tiniest bit.
"Thank you, Helly."
Jin was waiting by the garden.
Amber gulped.
She drovd up to their manager. "Hi."
"Cut the bullshit, Amber. I wanna know why you snapped at Roy like that." Jin was always straight to the point, something Amber apprieciated. But she was looking down at Jin's words.
"I was only worrying for his safety." she admitted.
Jin sighed sympathetically. "I understand where you're coming from. But... there are other ways to look out for someone without outright shouting at them."
"I'm just... so angry, Jin. He doesn't listen to anything I say and gets into this... shit. And he still insists on-"
"Calm down." Jin's soothing voice tamed the anger within. "I want you to talk to Roy and resolve this. He's been dying inside all day after your outburst."
Amber nodded, smiling.
The infirmary felt a little too cold.
Amber stopped Roy, with an ice pack abover his ehad and a thermometer in his mouth.
"Hi." she said, "How are you feeling-"
"I'm sorry."
Amber's mouth formed an "o" shape after the sudden sentence. The thermometer dropped to the ground.
"I'm sorry." she repeated. "For getting angry like that." she moved next to Roy.
"It's fine. You were just looking out for my wellbeing." Roy sighed, "I'm sorry for not listening to you when all you wanted was for me to rest."
Amber didn't know what she would do without Roy. She felt like an empty shell of herself when he didn't exist. All she wanted was to keep him safe, out of danger. Despit all the horrifying rescues they went through, the grave injuries all of them had, she always prioritized Roy first.
She didn't want to lose him.
"I don't want to see you suffer." Amber said.
"Isn't that what our job is all about?" Roy looked at her with glowing eyes despite his weak frame. "It's normal for us to get injuries, into dire accidents, but we all fix it together."
Amber couldn't help but chuckle. "You're always like this."
"I love you, Amber." Roy aid, blushing in a red brighter than his. "I know you love me, because you look out for me."
"I love you too." Amber rplied back, and a small kiss on the cheek.
Everything was finally resolved.
Well, Roy's sickness isn't.
Amber clung to him like a leech. Not leaving his side, even for rescue missions. She only prayed that Helly could handle Posty and Cap's bullshit by himself.
"What do you think he will do?" Amber asked Roy, who was staring into oblivion.
"He can't do it. We taught him so much, but he's a child." Roy replied, yawning. "I can't believe it's nighttime."
"It's time to replace the ice." Amber transformed into her robocar and removed the ice pack on Roy's head. "So you'll get better."
"I'm not that sick." Roy insisted, his voice obviously croaking.
"Stop being an idiot." Amber sighed, grabbing more ice. "You're red all over and your temperature is high."
"It's just a cold, I swear."
Amber placed the ice pack back. "Don't start. You need to rest."
"But what if Helly-"
"Roy," Amber clammored, turning back into a car and her back facing's Roy. "We are not having this talk again, please just let Helly do his job. He's more capable than you think."
"I'm sorry." Roy lamented.
"Don't be."
"Let's just play a song."
Amber went to the CD player, once again turning into a robocar, searching through the handfuls of CDs they have collected. "Play anything." Roy said.
One random CD later, Amber went back to Roy's side, touching his forehead. "You're so hot."
Roy looked at her with all the subtlty of a korean film. "What?"
"I meant your fever." Amber was blushing in a red hue. "Your fever."
Roy smiled. "You clearly meant something else-"
"The music's playing." Amber cut off.
The record started spinning,
No i'll never look back in anger
No i'll never find me an answer
You promised me we'd keep in touch
I read your letter and it hurt me so much
I said i'll never, never be angry with you
"What a fun song."
They slept through the night leaning against each other's frame.

The good-for-nothing citizens of Broomstown were fortunately not in trouble, and the rescue team can finally have some time for themselves. All alone.
All...
alone...
Oh, well, it's not as bad as last time.
Right?
Once again proven wrong when Poli walked into the room with a can of gas in his left hand. He seemed to not give a shit about the dire consequences of his actions and gave even less of a shit when he accidentally tilted his can to Roy. The firetruck gasped in utter shock.
"Dude, what the fuck?" Roy shouted, desperately wiping off the gas on his frame. You could've used a towel, but no, hands are way better.
"You got in the way, asshole," Poli said callously. Helly then walks in with an AK-47- wait, an AK-47?
Poli and Roy looked at him with horror. Poli drops his can of gas. "PUT THAT DOWN-"
Helly uncharacteristically shoots the gun, pointing it at the calendar. His resting bitch face didn't budge. Poli dodged and Roy miraculously skims himself out of the situation.
"DUDE!" Roy screamed at Helly. "Didn't we tell you literally this morning not to use any of the weapons-"
Suddenly, Jin bursts through the room. Her laugh was deafening, and a machine gun was in her hands. The gun was pointed at the roof. Poli and Roy screamed.
"This is not normal." Poli muttered. No shit, Sherlock.
"There's nothing to do!" Jin shrieks as the ceiling filled with roles. Music to my ears.
"We're gonna spend a fortune on reparations-"
Jin threw Roy a machete, which didn't help as it landed on the ground helplessly.
"What-"
"Let's gang up on Poli!" Helly suddenly shouted. All faces turned the police car.
"Woah, woah, woah!" Poli said defensively, backing up against the doorway. "Who said that-"
"Let's just get on with it," Jin said.
Wait, what-
CHARGE!"
Poli ran for his life as gun sounds and metal clunking filled his ears.
Not as bad as last time, they said.
Poli makes his way out of the room. The hallways confuse him.
Then he thought.
Think faster bitch three idiots are literally ganging up on you-
"Alright! Alright! I'm going to the storage room!" Poli shouted. Footsteps get closer.
"It's him!"
Poli drives faster.
He transformed and stared at the door to the storage room. What a great time to stare into nothingness when you're being hunted down. Eventually, Poli shakes out of his trance and opened the door.
Weapons all around.
Poli zoned out. Only a glowing purple light shown.
"it's about time."
"Why are we doing this again?"
Roy was a pussy for cowering behind the two far superior human and helicopter holding weapons that could bust your fucking ass.
"The author made us do it, man." Jin replied in a joking manner.
The trio saw a purple light emitting from the storage room.
What a great way to loathe.
"We're fucked." Helly said.
"What?"
Suddenly, the ground started shaking like hell. Glass started breaking.
"What's happening?" Roy's naivete said, terrified.
Jin kept laughing like a maniac as she reloaded her gun. "He actually used it! Fuck!"
Poli, unnaturally swift, zoomed through the hallways. In his hands, there it was-
The Immortal gun.
"Oh God no." Helly muttered, "He's possessed."
"Dude!" Roy butted in, the machete in his hands almost swinging to the helicopter. "He literally owns the thing, we all know what happens when-"
"I'm on the top of the world!" A purplish laser shot out from his immortal gun. Amber and Helly dodge as they reload their own weapons. But Roy screamed as the laser shot through his face.
"AHHH- WHAT THE FUCK-" Roy started glowing in purple, dropping his machete as he floated in the air, still screaming horribly.
"Is... is that what it's supposed to do-"
Poli then shot the gun to an unobservant Helly.
"What-
-the-
FUCK."
Jin watched as her two allies went fuck that shit and left her with a rogue Poli.
"Let's battle." Poli said to the remaining person.
Jin hissed as he pointed her gun at the robocar. "Will do-"
Helly screamed like he was in pain. "Why am I in hell?"
...
What did the bitch just say.
"Are you stupid?" Poli laughed, but it will never replicate Jin's amazing evil laugh.
"Yes you are." Wads of bullets shot at the car.
Amber returned from Cleany's fiasco over an irremovable stain spot she sighed as she drove into the gate of the headquarters with her eyes closed, blissfully unaware of the chaos the team had created.
"I'm ba-" she opened her eyes to the burning remains of the headquarters.
They are all gonna die, aren't they?

tw: $u|c|d3 attempt
I swear it’s not that deep.
I loom over the cliff like a lost child, remnants of the dark underground that was set upon it. I sigh at the height of the fall.
Life is not worth living anymore.
How is it even worth it? No one ever appreciates me, it’s always Poli this, Poli that. No one bothers to ask how I am, only where I am. My efforts go fazed in the eyes of every townsfolk,
even my team,
my family.
With no second thoughts, I step over the cliff's edge, letting my weight dip down to the front, and tumble off the edge. My scream was loud, but not loud enough to gain any traction.
My demise is sure.
I tumble down the mountain, my metal scraped and dented.
-///-
It was pitch black when I opened my eyes.
Suddenly, faint sobs erupted. I flinched at the familiar sound.
I hear a winch attach to my body—straps embedding my frame.
Am I being lifted to heaven?
(Or lowered to hell?)
“Don’t…” a voice said.
“Die.”
I should be dead.
-///-
“...Poli?”
My vision was fuzzy, but I heard the voice. It was Helly, gasoline tears streaked his face. I open my mouth to say something, but it was caught in my throat. I look around the repair shop I’m so familiar with.
“What…?” I say.
“Poli!” Helly’s voice was now of cheers as he lurched and hugged me, tighter than a noose. His cries were uncontrollable. I awkwardly try to push him away.
“I thought I…” I really did, Jin would be fawning.
Helly’s screams seemed to have alerted the others, as they appeared at the doorway like ghosts. Amber was the same as Helly, but Roy only had a look of shock. No worry, no tears.
He’s angry at me.
I wanted to laugh. The serious demeanor of the moment prevented me from doing it, yet I shrieked at their faces on the inside. I hyperventilate at the sight of the moment.
Amber rushed to me wailing like a banshee. Her tight hug set me in a daze. Helly kept crying. Roy stood in the corner like a wronged mother. His eyes were serious, a drought of tears.
“Never do that again,” Helly kept weeping.
“We almost lost you,” Amber wailed.
“Why would you do that?”
I stay silent.
Comfort was off the table since I woke up. Everyone was either crying or comforting themselves. And Roy?
He did nothing.
He just stood there like a long lost father reconciling with his child. His face was dotted with apathy.
–///-
It’s nighttime, hours after my failed attempt. Another day in my miserable life that i’m sadly living. They could’ve just left me but no, you guys wanted to save me.
That’s not the way to go.
The garden was undeniably beautiful. I look at the moon, thinking about the dark abyss that I wanted to be in. That wasn’t the premium death experience I wanted.
How I wish I commited suicide tomorrow.
But no, they decided to be heroes and save me from my demise. As much as I hate it, I didn't do anything to contradict them.
So much for a dramatic suicide, I think. I imagined them looming over my body, crying gasoline, staining my frame. They lower me under the ground or keep me as a treasure on the wall.
Suddenly, I see Roy in the distance.
I smile. But he doesn’t smile back. He looked dead inside, an empty void filling his eyes. I draw my hand back.
“Hi, Roy.” I say, trying to be positive.
He ran to me and hugged me.
“Poli,” he started, I could feel his tears coming out of his eyes. “I- I need to understand…”
Understand?
There’s nothing to understand.
“Understand what?” I ask, Roy pulls me in a tighter hug. I could hear sobs that I would have never imagined he would pull.
“Understand why you did it!” Roy pulled away, revealing his gasoline streaked frame. “Why would you commit sui-”
“You would never understand.” I interrupt him, all my emotion put into that one sentence.
“What wouldn’t I understand?” Roy was practically shouting, he was on his knees. “You’re- you’re my best friend, Poli, I will understand everything you tell me, what- what reason you have to- to do this shit!”
My mouth was left open, agape.
“Roy,” I wanted to cry, “Do you really think you know everything about me that you can understand what i’m going through?”
Roy went silent.
“I feel useless, Roy.” I start,
“No one cared about me. Everytime I rescued them, they don’t even bother to say thank you. Everyone in this stupid town has the nerve to spread hateful gossip about me and my reputation is ruined. But what did you do? What did any of you do?”
The venom in my voice was spilling.
“Nothing!” I shout at him, my tears were uncontrollable. “You all did nothing. You were too busy living the good life and I was left to do your dirty work!”
“Poli,” Roy started,
“I didn’t know you felt that way.”
I stop.
“I’m sorry,” I say, I kept crying, yet I didn’t keep my cool.
Roy stood up and hugged me again. “No, I’m- i’m sorry.”
“We made you feel- feel like this.”
I flinch.
“I- We will- try our best to help you in this-” Roy’s hiccups stirred.
“I know you will, Roy.”
We cry together like a mess.
“Poli, I apologize for everything. That I failed to see you suffering, I didn’t do anything about it, how everyone just did you dirty, i’m sorry.”
Roy sniffled,
“I promise there will be some change.”
The night was cold, but in Roy I felt warmth.
I just hope he keeps his promise that things will change for the better.

tw: $u|c|d3 idealation
Midnight fell in Broomstown. Everyone in town is probably in the confines of their garage, or their beds, sleeping peacefully.
But this wasn’t the case for Poli.
This was a common occurrence for him, not that he cared about insomnia or the citizen’s lives, but simply for the safety of the headquarters. Sometimes he’d sleep in, and sometimes he didn’t sleep at all.
And that didn’t matter.
He faced the front desk of the headquarters, his eyes eerily open. There was Jin’s chair, basking in the dark. Sometimes he thought of life without their manager, practically their mother. Sometimes he didn’t want to. Sometimes he wondered if he’d never been created.
Sometimes.
He sighed, his eyes darting around the room. The lack of activity had bored Poli to an extent, but his eyes didn’t flutter. He was still wide awake, thinking about their leader. Probably sleeping in her room, cozy and fleeting.
The radio rang, startling Poli. His headlights faced the red button.
He transformed into his robocar counterpart and pressed the button. “Hello?” he said softly, careful not to wake Amber and Roy, waiting for a civilized response. One more prank call and he might go insane.
“Uh. hey.”
Poli raised his eyebrow at the unexpected voice on the other line. “What is it, Lifty?”
The young forklift shuddered. “So, uh, Jin’s here…”
What?
“What?” Poli gawked, “What’s she doing there?” He couldn’t even fathom about what happened, what will happen.
“She’s spinning and laughing and swaying everywhere,” Lifty said with the highest amount of concern Poli had heard from any citizen. Metal clunking and a high-pitched squeal. “Ow! Please hurry and pick her up, I can’t leave her alone in the port…”
“Okay.” Poli immediately put down the phone before Lifty could even finish saying “thank you”.
Poli was sure he passed the speed limit when he drove to the port. The sense of urgency was more than any of their rescues. It made his thoughts run frantically, his gas pressure high.
He arrived, panting heavily. His eyes spotted Lifty and Jin limping on him helplessly. Lifty’s eyes lock with his. “Poli!” he waves his left forklift, before putting it down to put Jin in balance.

Poli ran to them. “What happened?” he noticed the alcohol bottle in Jin’s hand, putting the pieces together.
“I found her here talking to herself…” Lifty replied.
Jin looked rough. Usually braided hair in shambles, her orange outfit smeared with stains, her face red and puffy. Clearly Lifty had the mindset of a child, as he described her as “drinking juice and went insane”.
Jin laughed, “Oh, Poli, you’re here?” the tone of her voice weirdly shifted. “Haha, you’ve come to- come to pick me up?” she tumbled her way off of Lifty. Poli caught her before she could hit the ground. “Oh! You caught me! You’re always so strong…”
Poli sighed. “What have you gotten yourself into?” Jin just laughed. “I’m having fun! Life’s a bitch, y’know.”
Lifty flinched. “Did she just-”
“Thank you, Lifty.” Poli spouted, cutting Lifty’s words. He gave a small smile before turning around, carrying Jin in his arms. The bottle of alcohol fell to the ground.
Poli stopped at a cliff perfectly gazing at the stars. Max came here and it certainly wasn’t a fond memory, but the outlook butchered his bad views on the part.
He put Jin down, she immediately flopped herself on the grass.
“What did you do?” Lifty’s response wasn’t enough for him.
“Yes!” Jin beamed drunkenly, “I had no reason to, but I- I did!”
“Jin,” he repeated sternly.
“I- I don’t know,” she said sadly, before bursting into chuckles. She sat up, flimsily moving herself next to Poli. “Sometimes I feel… like nothing.”
“Like I am nothing.”
Poli looked at her, shocked and sympathetic. “What are you saying?”
“Do I even help you guys?” she asked, her mood dropping down. “Ugh, I hate my life!” she hits her head on the log next to Poli. “I jus’ wanna die.”
“Don’t say that.” Poli cried, his voice unnaturally coarse. He went to Jin’s side. “You help us in more ways than one! You lead us, you fix us, you raise us.” he put his large hand on her shoulder, though it touched her back as well.
“Bullshit,” Jin groaned, taking Poli’s hand off of her. “All my dreams are shattered, all my inventions fail-”
“Not all of them.” Poli was desperate now. He wanted to cry but he couldn’t. Jin looked away, tears forming on the corners of her eyes.
“Sorry,” she implored. “I am not enough for this.”
“You will never be not enough. You are more than enough.”
"How can you be so sure?" Jin sobbed.
"Because i'm here." Poli replied, smiling for comfort. "We're here. Roy, Amber, Helly, we're all here because of-
because of you."
"Look at us now, we're helping the town, we're in the pinnacle of society. And it's because of you." If only he could cry, he would wail buckets.
"I guess- guess you're right." Jin's tears were flowing, but her laughing didn't seize.
"Thank you."
Poli's grin was higher than the moon.
"We should go home now."
Comforting words were thrown around as the dim moonlight shined on them.
“Awh, I wish I had a relationship like that.”
“They’re not dating, idiot. It’s them looking out for each other. Unlike you and I."
“Shut up.”

The Talk
(trigger warning slight cursing)
06:30am
As the sun was rising, it shone upon everything that it's bright, summer beams met blessing the earth with warmth and happiness.
The Rescue Team have just woken up and now are preparing for the day. Jin made her way inside the basement to check on Helly, whose propeller wasn't functioning right due to yet another accident. Once she greeted him the inventor started checking oh her "patient". After a few minutes of careful investigation Jin realised that she doesn't have parts to fix her mechanical friend.
- I'm afraid I can't fix you right now. We've run out of parts again!
- Oh... Well, it's fine I guess. I can wait.
- Glad to know. Hey, wanna check on the others?
- Can't say no to that one!
As they were making their way to the main entrance of the HQ they found their teammates, who were yawning and stretching their metal shelves and wheels like if there were cats. The two could not help but laugh at the sight.
- Good morning ya sleepy heads!
- Good morning Helly! How is your propeller.
- It doesn't hurt but I can't fly either so I'm afraid I won't be able to join you today.
- It's fine buddy. Just make sure you get lot's of rest while we're gone.
- Thanks!
- Well, it seems like we'll have to double the patrol today. Since Helly won't be able to spot cars and humans who can't call fir help we'll have to find them ourselves.
- Wait, what if I join you guys today?
- Are you sure? It's pretty dangerous you know.
- Come on guys! I won't do anything dangerous, not like able to do them anyway, I'll just patrol and report if I see citizens in trouble!
- What about the HQ-
- Don't worry guys! I will look after it and answer the calls. I'll get really bored if I have nothing to do. Jin has showed me many times how operate her place! Besides, she always has a phone on her wherever she goes.
- Ok, I guess you can come with us. Just promise to be careful.
16:37pm
- Guys this is an emergency! Max is hanging of a cliff in the woods! I'm sending you the coordinates.
- We'll be right there Jin!
Jin closed the phone and put it in her pocket. She looked up to see Max, who was desperately trying not to fall.
Just about an hour ago the weather suddenly changed and now it was raining heavily. The rain was turning soil into sticky mud and was making the rocks slippery.
Jin knew that the car wouldn't hang on for a long time. She tried to make her way up to see if there's anything she can do.
Once she reached the top of the cliff she heard Max shouting.
- Jin! I can't hold on any longer!
- Don't give up Max. The rescue team will be here soon.
Just like if her wishes were heard her teammates appeared. They transformed in record time and run towards Jin.
- Jin! What's going on?
- Help me!
They turned their heads in Max's direction. He was slipping of the cliff! Poli and Amber quickly used their lines to hold him. It was just then when Jin realised that Roy was missing.
- Where is Roy?
- He's dealing with another accident right now!
Another rock cracked under Max's wheels which caused him to fall further down. His position wasn't allowing them to lift him anymore.
- Poli, we won't be able to lift him! The ground is too slippery and his roller isn't helping either!
- There's gotta be another way!
Suddenly Jin remembered something.
- Listen, below the cliff there's a small ledge. It may not be big but it's enough to place Max there.
- Alright then! Amber you go down and make sure Max lands safely, use your cushion for that. I'll pull him down slowly.
- Alright!
Amber unhooked her line and started following Jin. Poli hooked his other line to Max and waited for signal.
- There! If you place the cushion there he will be able to land safely and come down afterwards.
- I'll try to go down.
A few careful skips and Amber comes to not the best realisation.
- Poli, I can't reach the ledge, nor can I throw the cushion there! The path is to narrow!
Poli was not happy to hear this. He was clearly struggling to keep Max where he was. He took some steps back just to make sure that the road roller was staying put before replying.
- You'll have to try!
Amber takes a small step and the ground immediately crashes under her weight.
- I can't!
- Ok, then come up here and we'll both try to pull him down- Ahh!
Large rocks started slipping above Poli's head. One fell directly on his foot while the other one fell right in front of him damaging his line in the process. It unhooked from Max, causing him to fall further down and making him scream.
Poli was desperately struggling to hold him. The situation was getting worse. The robocar wouldn't hold him for much longer.
- Poli! Amber, you need to give me your cushion! Poli won't hold Max for much longer!
- What?
- Jin, what are you up to?
- Trust me! Just give me the cushion!
- Jin don't you dare to go down there!
- I-
Amber didn't finish the sentence. Jin grabbed the tool from her hands and ran down to the ledge.
Something from the past clicked inside Poli's head. That little unimportant something made him scared for the girl's life. He wanted to run towards her but he was stuck between the rocks holding someone else.
Finally Jin gives a signal.
- Pull him down Poli!
He tries to do it but the line goes out of control, just like when he and Helly were stuck in a canyon.
Max falls down taking some large rocks with him along the way.
-Jin!
- AHH!
Then there was silence. Amber looked down the ledge. She found Max safe on the cushion and Jin, who was covering her head with her hands. She was scared but unharmed.
A few moments later she looked at Max and then at Amber, who still was really scared for her.
- We're fine!
Amber sough of relief and tried to find another way to reach the two, who were making their way to lower, safer grounds.
Once she reached their level she ran towards Jin and Max to check on them.
- Jin, Max! How are you guys? Do you hurt anywhere? Let me check you!
- I'm fine Amber, just shaken up that's all. How about you?
- I'm okay!
- Jin! Max!
The three of them looked up where the voice was coming from. Poli, who had finally freed himself from the rocks, was making his way towards them. His look was full of worry.
- How are you? Jin, what were you thinking?! Don't you ever run away like that you hear me!
- But I-
- Do not do that again I beggin' you!
He held little control of his voice, let alone his emotions. He probably sounded angry which he did not intend. Seeing the robocar like that was something really rare. He could tell he scared everyone away. Especially Jin, to whom he was speaking.
When he realised what he just did he took a deep break and spoke.
- I'm sorry... Is everyone okay?
- I'm... I'm alright.
- Me too.
- Good.
- Poli, we need to get going. We won't be able to reach the rescue centre if the rain gets worse so we'd better leave this place as soon as possible.
22:17pm
The rain stopped when the gang left and the bright summer sun dried everything. It was hot inside.
The rescue team managed to fall asleep despite the heat. The only one who could not rest was Poli. It wasn't the heat that bothered him. He spent an hour lying in his room and thinking about how he spoke to Jin. He scared the poor thing. He probably, no, he sure hurt her feelings. He failed to solve the problem fast enough and if it wasn't for her the rescue would have been a total disaster.
He drove out of his room to breathe some air. It was dark outside, a warm air was blowing. The sky was full of sparkling stars that were forming the Milky Way and the brightest of them all was the Moon which was on it's first quarter phase.
Poli was driving away from his place when he saw warm light on the ground. It was coming from the garage. Through it's open door the police car saw Jin, who was filling in some documents and checking her blue prints.
He knew why she was awake and he felt bad about it. The dispatcher would always spend her night here, trying to find comfort when she was stressed. It was the place where she would let out every bit of her enthusiasm and her emotion, whatever it was.
The guilt was eating him from inside. He couldn't stand watching one of his teammates like that. He had to make up for it.
- Uh, Jin?
The girl turned towards the owner of the voice, clearly not to happy to see him.
- If I don't bother you I'd like to talk to you.
She shook her head giving a positive answer. Good so far. He shook his head as well inviting her outside.
They didn't go too far. They sat on a grass field under the starry sky, just few feet behind their building.
The two were sitting in an awkward silence. None of them was too enthusiastic about their situation. That was until the blonde haired girl broke the silence.
- You don't really trust me do you?
- What?
- Just admit it Poli, you don't really believe that I could be a rescuer just like any of you. You don't have to say it.
- No, of course I believe in you-
- Then why did you act the way you did?! All I was trying to do is to help! Everything turned out fine so why did you act that way?!
- I was scared!
- Amber was also scared so what scared you this much?!
- I was scared of losing you, okay?!
Another moment of silence. There it is. It happened again.
- I'm... I'm truly sorry. For now and for what happened earlier today.
- ... Oh.
- I never thought of you as someone incompetent, let alone as someone who could never become a rescuer, because you already are one! I failed to think of a good plan and execute it. If it wasn't for you the rescue would have failed and who knows what would happen to Max.
Jin's look softened. She expected to hear the opposite from what she heard. She still was feelling bad but now it was because of how quick she was to accuse Poli of not trusting her without even asking him why he raised his voice at her.
They spent the whole day not willing to talk to eachother. If one of them spoke earlier, all of this would be over.
- Do you remember when I promised you to explain some things about my past?
- Yes, but that was three years ago. You never really explained anything even though you promised.
- So I guess now it's time.
He took a deep breath and looked at the sky. Memories of his past were filling his head.
- I was born in a police department in small town called Highray. There I grew up with my fathers and my little brother Strike. We were living a very happy life except... One day something happened and our dads started arguing. They would do that all day, every day and would only stop when Strike was in front of them. He didn't realise it back then so I tried to cover it. I tried to cover everything, that they weren't paying so much attention to us anymore, that they were arguing, that they didn't love eachother anymore. I managed to keep up the facade for some years but he was getting more and more suspicious until he learned everything himself. That day we had a big fight over how I would treat him like a child and would not tell him the truth, how I wouldn't let him do anything. The same day someone attacked our department. When we heard the sirens Strike ran away to try and help people. I tried to follow him but wasn't able to keep up. The wall next to me exploded and I got crushed by rocks. I blacked out and then...
- What happened then?
- *sight* One of the older officers freed me. I was told that Strike was gone. We couldn't find him anywhere. Soon, he and other four workers were called dead. Our family was devastated. Things started going downhill. I tried to cheer them up but I couldn't. No matter what I did I couldn't become the sun that he was to out family. To the whole place. At that time our best friend started blaming me for his death. After half a year I ran away. I had enough of what was going on. And so, I joined the Lemcon Police Department where I trained together with our past friend.
- I'm... I'm sorry to hear that.
- That's OK. All of this is in the past. It's just... When you ran of to that cliff it reminded me of when I lost my brother. I was trapped under these stupid rocks and I couldn't do anything but watch. I was scared of the thought that the history would repeat it's self. It's not an excuse for my behaviour of course! I understand if you're angry with me, I should not project my past issues on you. That's very selfish of me-
- I'm not angry. I was just upset about today. I should have thought about your feelings as well. Of course you would be terrified if a meat bag like me would jump under tones of metal and copper.
- First of all don't call yourself a meat bag.
- Don't "fist of all" me. It's not just about me it's about the whole humanity. Then I'm sorry for yelling at you too and because I know that you won't calm down if I don't say it, I Jin Reed, forgive you!
- ... Thanks!
- If this hell of a meeting isn't over I have one last question. Why did you tell me your story?
- What do you mean?
- I mean you could have just told me that your brother died in an accident and my actions reminded me of it, or you didn't even have to say it. You could have just said that it reminded you of something really, really bad and that would be the end of it!
- Well, when we first met you told me everything about yourself. Every single thing that you though that mattered, you would tell me. It was the first time after so many years that I felt that someone truly trusts me. I felt that I had pay it back.
- Now let me remind you that we first met when you saved me from two bastards. Of course I would trust you.
- You have to admit that I did them good.
- You did them so good I thought you would do me good. And now I see you hiding behind my back when you see a caterpillar!
- I wasn't scared of caterpillars back then!
- Well you're regressing then!
- Pfff!
- By the way, do you know what happened to the two bastards?
- Oh well, they were left out of the prison, like, a week ago and then they went back in for the same crap they did to you! Not anything important.
- You little liar!
- Woah!
Upon hearing Poli's words Jin jumped on his screen covering his view.
- You promised you would make sure they wouldn't get out of jail!
- I'm sorry the law does not allow me to make the prison their new home, now please come down!
- No this is my revenge!
- Oh really?
- Yeah now feel my ra- Wait are you doing? Stop please- Hahahaha!
Poli transformed into his robo form and pulled Jin away from his screen. When the enemy was on the ground he began tickling her.
The place filled with loud laughter as Poli and Jin were fighting with eachother. The officer would carefully press the girl down against the ground to tickle her, all the while the dispatcher would constantly kick him with her feet. None of them would retreat. Or at least until the girl kicked the damaged hand of the robocar.
- Ouch!
- Sorry! You good?
- Nah, I call for a truce.
- Yes!
- Heh!
- You want me to check it?
- I can wait until morning.
He carefully sat on the grass resting his damaged foot and hand while Jin layed on his other lap lookin at the sky.
Their paces slowly returned to normal as they admired the sparkly Milky Way.
- It's beautiful.
- It is.
23:21pm
Jin was peacefully sleeping on Poli's lap. He looked down at her and left our a quiet giggle.
- Looks like somebody's really tired huh?
He carefully lifted the girl so that he wouldn't disturb her and headed back home.
Once they reached the HQ Poli went into Jin's room to place her on her soft bed. He remembered that Jin was filling some documents so since he wasn't feeling sleepy he decided to do that for her. He wrote a small note for her and left in on the cupboard next to her bed.
Before Poli left, he did one last thing. He covered Jin with a light blacket.
- Good night Jin. Thanks for everything.

Robocar Poli - Experimental Origins Series ☆
Tumblr media
What is Experimental Origins? Robocar Poli - Experimental Origins (shortened to just RCP - EO) is an AU of the cartoon Robocar Poli created by me, about a fanmade backstory of the Rescue Team members, Poli (001), Roy (002), Amber (003) and Helly (004). They were made in a laboratory of a company called Nebula Corporation, a company that focuses on engineering and robotics.
Created by Jin Schmidt's father, Jonas Schmidt, the robovehicles had to withstand the experiments and tests that were done on them. Their experimental origins was an unforgettable nightmare...
Why did I create such a dark AU for a literal kids cartoon? Because I can. :>
