Mother

Context! Context! Context!

I cannot state enough how much I love Mother. This one is actually a departure from Robits, what I call the Mother AU.

Setting: Vole and Streaker (named Lo-fi and Streaker at the time of writing) are not Cybertronians or created by them, but rather AI weapons made by the species invading Mother (the planet). At some point during their activation, they became sentient. They are deployed to help destroy Mother's guardians (her ambulatory plant children who imitate various creatures) and they are defeated. Sensing their sentience, Mother decides to turn the twins to her side. She enveloped them within her and breathed more life into them, granting them some semblance of free will (considering everything on Mother is sort of part of a hivemind, true free will is... not natural), imbuing them with loyalty and purpose (she revived them, they have now been charged with protecting her and her children), and blessing them with her mark (the mark of Mother is the evidence of plant life woven into the flesh/faux flesh).

He stared into the lifeless eyes of the creature squatting in the mist. It looked like nothing he had ever seen before: long skinny forelimbs swept the ground, leaving ripples in the shallow waters of the dark swamp as equally skinny hind legs held its frail body erect. A mop of wilting leaves brushed over its face and head, hanging low over the rest of its stark white form reminding Lo-Fi of a weeping willow. 

Its bone-white body stood out against the dark swamp, even surrounded by mist. It sat crouched behind the shriveled root of some long-dead tree that sank sadly into the black water beneath it.

It gave him an odd feeling, one he couldn't quite describe. It felt foreign, but not in the same way invaders did. Those felt like vermin scuttling across Mother's skin, sending chills up his spine and filling him with hot and ugly anger. This? It felt almost dangerous. Everything about it filled him with a deep sense of wrong like it did not belong on Mother. That couldn't be right though, Mother's mark hung from its head, the branches leaving just enough space for the eyes to peek through. It looked of Mother, but it felt indescribably wrong. It made him want to do nothing but run deep into the forest and hide under the safe roots of the Great Elders. He couldn't though. Its gaze held him in place, as though if he looked away, even for an instant, it would be upon him, crushing him with its menacing air.

So, he didn't run. He held its gaze, staring at it for what felt like hours. It tilted its head to the side, almost quizzically, its willow branches dragging through the water and causing a ripple that sounded impossibly loud in the silence of the misty bog. The creature lifted a forearm and began moving forward on its knuckles.

Its movement sent his systems into panic, trying to pull up his weapons and a monstrous sense of dread rose in his chest and pressed his back, crushing him from both sides. His servos clicked frantically, trying to transform into any sort of weaponry, but nothing happened. He felt his head heating up as his ventilation systems failed to activate. He frantically opened his vents hoping for cool air to naturally circulate through him, relieving his overheating circuits, but all that came in was an unmistakable feeling of death and decay.  

The creature brought its other arm forward, taking another step closer to the helplessly panicking mech when a twig snapped somewhere behind it and the whole world spun into darkness. Suddenly, Lo-Fi found himself sitting up, weapons drawn and ventilating hard. His head swung around manically, his eyes taking in the view of a bright clearing filled with sunlight and surrounded by tall, healthy trees filled with green leaves and beautiful flowers. He began to calm down, recognizing his surroundings. He was home. Deep in the heart of the forest, surrounded by life and sound which warmed his mechanical heart. He sucked in a deep breath and listened to the sounds of bird song, insect chirps, and the rustle of leaves that indicated someone was on the hunt. He exhaled and disengaged his weapons. 

He looked beside him to the sleeping form of his brother whose red plating reflected the sun in brilliant white beams. His arms were wrapped around the leafy pelt of Nex, whose feline eyes boreholes of concern through the blue mech as his brother snored peacefully.

"You alright?" She asked, one ear twitching in concern.

"Yeah, I think so." Lo-Fi answered, breathing shakily. His friend continued to stare at him in concern. "It was just a bad dream." He smiled trying to reassure her.

She slipped out of  Streaker's hold and stalked towards Lo-Fi. The red mech grumbled something at her leaving but rolled over to take the warm spot she had left in the grass and settled back into sleep, his wings twitching lightly in what was likely a dream of flying. "Must have been some dream for you to freak out like that." Nex mused, brushing herself comfortingly against Lo-Fi's blue metal before settling against his back and wrapping her tail around him. "Wanna talk about it?"

Lo-Fi could still feel the eyes of that thing staring into him with its dead, hollow eyes. He shivered all over, his plates clinging together as they each moved independently to try and shake the ugly feeling of those eyes. No way in hell he was going to relive that all again when he had just escaped it. He shook his head. “No, not right now. Anything but that now. I need something to distract me. How’s your training to become the Mammalian Elder going?” He asked, trying to change the subject.

Nex gave him a concerned look before answering.

By the time Streaker had woken up, his brother and Nex were neck-deep in a conversation about politics. Uhg, boring. He didn’t bother interrupting, knowing they would be too engrossed to even notice him, transformed and went to go find his charges. Surely, the insectoids would have something more interesting than politics to talk about. He scoffed at the thought as he dove through the clouds. Who would willingly talk about that? It was so boring and confusing, all it ever did was give everyone a headache. He sighed heavily as he flew over the forest and allowed the view to rip everything else from his mind. 

His charges were exactly where he thought he would find them. Right by the entrance to their cave already eating their breakfast. They had always been early risers. Said it had something to do with “getting the best grub,” what that had to do with getting up when the sun rises he had no idea. 

“Hey, sprouts,” He said, transforming from a plane back into his bipedal form and landing a few feet away from the two insectoids. “What are the plans for today?”

Shesq shrugged nibbling on an aphid. “Nothing much, just entering the last few lines of code for the suits and repairing the damage from the last attack.”

Skela nodded, shoving the last bites of whatever bug she had managed to capture into her mandibles. Streaker couldn’t be sure of what it was today, she never really stuck to a strict diet, but from what he saw from the air, it looked like she had nabbed a big one today. Somehow, between him spotting the sisters' camp and landing, she had managed to devour the entire thing. It was kind of scary how fast she ate. “We were hoping you and Elder Blue could help us with some of it. A lot of the code got corrupted by the foreigners and we can’t quite remember all of it.”

The mechanoid leaned against a tree and nodded. He had first-hand experience with the code corrupting virus their planet’s attackers had created to try and decommission the tech which protected Mother’s surface. Originally, that had only been he and his brother, but they had spent the last few decades constructing mechanical weapons and suits for the other defenders to use so the virus’s use had spread. Thankfully, they had taught most of the pilots and gunners the ins and outs of their weapon’s programming and mechanics so they didn’t have to travel halfway across the planet every time something broke. The sisters, however, were only sprouts, practically fresh out of the ground, their marks hadn’t even fully come in yet, so it was only logical that they would still need some help. “Yeah, of course. Lo-Fi’s doing something right now, but I can help.” He walked into the cave where two mech suits lay dormant, waiting for their next use. “I’ve got a firewall that we’ve been working on to repel the viruses too.” He climbed up on one of the mechs, straddling its neck so he would have a good hold, opened up an access panel on the back of its head, and typed in a few passwords, opening up the coding. “What are you guys stuck on?”

J decker is so fun an silly BUT SOMETHING about their world building makes me feel things.

You see, if you are a Cybertronian you are alive. It's unquestioned. You have a free will. You have a soul. And the most important part - you and everyone are know about that. Most of the time at least.

But in the world of J decker?

These robots aren't aliens. They were created by humans. And - importantly - for humans. The have no more rights than fucking chat GPT.....

The show is like haha look funny robits silly humans and you have so much fun looking at them, yeah.

But then one of those robots making a mistake in front of a wrong human? Or slightly questionable behavior? Or expressing any basic sense of self preservation??? Like the DESIRE NOT TO DIE??

And humans are instantly like...

HOW DARE YOU TO BE SOMETHING MORE THAN A USEFUL TOOL??

You see. In the transformers shows - robots are basically friends with humans. Or enemies. They are equals.

In the Brave police j decker - they are ..like....slaves???

Sure, main characters lucky enough to have a human friends who cares about them. And those human friends treating them pretty well. Yes. But golden cage is still a fucking cage. They live to serve. And the moment they don't serve - they die.

Humans can torture them, brake them, erase or rewrite their whole memory. Humans can literally order them to go and die. Humans can do anything they want without any punishment because ~oh well~ these bots aren't people. They're shiny pretty tools. Police property.

My interest in this show is so ahhhhhhhhh

There's a character whose whole personality memory and identity people were going to completely erase. Simply because he had outlived his usefulness. He hadn't even done anything wrong.

There's also a character who isn't allowed to experience or show any negative emotions because his human master wants a perfect noble shiny hero without tiniest bit of evil thoughts. He absolutely can feel bad emotions. He's just not allowed to. Because they fucking...ordered him??

I don't know how this show ends yet. But I'm so fucking invested it's gggghhhhhhh,,,,,,,,

Bells Hells Legendary Pokémon

I already gave everyone a minimum of one Legendary in the original team post, so here's the list of all the Legendaries I think fit each member of Bells Hells (the Legendaries from the set teams will be included)

Chetney

Zacian- look, it's a wolf that's set to shank a bitch. Tell me that doesn't vibe with Chetney

Zeraora (Shiny)- kind of were-beast in shape. Shiny to match Chetney's own white fur

Kubfu/Urshifu (Single Strike Style)- more were-fuzzies for Chet. Single Strike Style because Chetney's the type to one-and-done it if he can

Okidogi- werewolf-ish Pokémon for Chet!

Orym

Shaymin- more friendly flowers for Orym, and the Sky Form is a little fighter like him

Virizion- grass blade Pokémon who protects others

Keldeo (Resolute form, Shiny)- it's a little sword guy (pony) like Orym. And shiny makes it green and Resolute Form because Orym knows what he wants

Kartana- a little blade guy for a little swordsman

Zacian- noble sword Pokémon for a noble little swordsman

Zamazenta- noble shield Pokémon for a protective little guy with a treasured shield

Fearne

Moltres- a burning phoenix Pokémon that Fearne worries will take on the Galarian Form that her Bad Future Self had

Entei- fluffy fire dog Pokémon

Celebi- little onion fairy and that travels through time for a fey that lived in wonky time

Cresselia- Fearne is lightly Ruidusborn and this is a gentler moon Pokémon

Reshiram- fiery semi-wolf Pokémon for our fire faun

Xerneas- it's a Fairy-type, deer are kind of close to goats, and Xerneas has a minor moon motif

Zarude- grass monkey for the druid with a monkey

Munkidori- another monkey to mother for Fearne

Imogen

Spectrier- Legendary horse that comes in Imogen's two colors: purple and red

Raikou- it's a thunderstorm Pokémon for a gal who claims she is the storm

Deoxys- an alien Pokémon for a girl connected to alien moon people

Cresselia (Shiny)- Imogen gets moon Pokémon. Shiny for purple coloration

Thundurus (Shiny)- another lightning Pokémon for our electric sorceress. Shiny for purple coloration

Keldeo (Ordinary Form)- little unicorn for the horse girl

Lunala (Shiny)- literal red moon Pokémon when shiny

Regieleki- more eletrical Pokémon for Imogen

Glastrier- another horse Pokémon for the horse girl

Laudna

Marshadow- it's shadow theme matches Laudna's Shadow Sorcerery. And Laudna does spend time trying to copy the Ladies of Whitestone…

Giratina- considering Delilah took her soul to a reverse/shadow realm, and that's the kind of place Giratina is from, it seems a good fit

Darkrai- a nightmare Pokémon for a woman who loves nightmares

Yveltal- a Pokémon that absorbs life essences, much like Hunger of the Shadows does the same for Laudna and Delilah

Calyrex- because it's the Pokémon that can bring Glastrier and Spectrier under control, much like how Laudna is a great deal of Imogen's control

FCG

Magearna- a man-made clockwork Legendary for the Aeormaton

Genesect- it's ancient and modified by people to be a killing machine, just like FCG

Miraidon- robot-like Legendary for the robit

Ashton

Cosmog- suddenly appeared after Ashton got galaxy-brained because it's a little galaxy guy from another (higher?) dimension. It's Ashton's innocent baby who doesn't know how to stay in the damn pokéball and not reveal his soft side

Regigigas- this is the big titan Pokémon, hauling continents and shit. Not to mention that the Slow Start ability reflects how Ashton had a titan shard for twenty years before they really got it to do anything spectacular

Regirock- if Ashton gets one Regi, it's Regigigas for titan shit. But Regirock is definitely Earth Elemental vibes and so also goes to Ashton

Dialga- one of Ashton's dunamancy domains is time and this is a Pokémon lord of time

Palkia- one of Ashton's dunamancy domains it space and this is a Pokémon lord of space

Terrakion (Shiny)- it's tough and it doesn't like bullies, sounds pretty Ashton to me. Shiny because I think Ashton would like the pop of the shiny palette

Zygarde- Ashton is sort of split into a million pieces by the half-beacon brain, and Zygarde's 100% Form is kind of titan-ish

Diancie- another crystal and rock Pokémon. Also goes a little bit with the Empress of Earth vibes, or rather the Empress's heir

Hoopa- a Pokémon that switches between a Confined and Unbound Form, kind of like Ashton's normal and demi-titan modes. And it messes around with space like Ashton. Also, normal genasi are sometimes/often sired by elemental genies and this Pokémon is based on genies

Koraidon- ancient earth splitter for the earth titan's blood (also mirrors FCG having Miraidon)

i finally got the whole blog set up and fancified to my liking :3

now that that’s out of the way, hi, i’m ale, and design is my passion. i drew all of our refs for Exploration, and now i’d like to divulge some details about why we designed characters the way we did!

i’ll be going in lineup order, so feel free to pull those bad boys up and follow along :]

Cpt. Huggyface

at Raven’s request, we have made him look more like a creature. we really wanted him to look like no Earthling monkey, so that it was less obvious compared to Bob, the other monkey in Fair City.

we’ve removed his shirt. Huggy can change color at will, and blue is his most iconic color, so we decided to just. make him blue. 

his lightning bolt insignia is also blue. this is because it isn’t actually an insignia, it’s a scar. it’s grown over with fur now, but the color changing is still a little off in that area.

we gave him an aviator's helmet because he is one. it was a lot more interesting than his original.

his antenna curves slightly because i thought it looked stupid sticking straight up.

another note on his antenna: it's not part of his helmet, it's his actual antenna.

WordGirl

we have her a ponytail for her ease of flying and fighting people. keeps it from getting in her face.

one little flyaway on her ponytail is star-shaped - because stars are WordGirl’s shape :]

we also gave her a star-shaped mask to make it easier for her to conceal her identity.

the neck of her cape is now a little turtleneck, it keeps her warm in those high altitudes.

her gloves and boots are based off how they look in the comics. also i like drawing defined shoes :]

WordGirl has blue eyeshines because she has a nictitating membrane, like a cat. also, her eyes are star-shaped because those are her shape.

her sclera are slightly yellowish, due to her powers. her eyes are also more of a dark red for the same reason.

you can't see them, but she has little fangs. adds to her alienness.

Becky

Becky has two upward flyaways on her head. this is because she has a bee motif (spelling bee), and those are the antenna

her headband has a small gold thing at the end, because it doubles as the headband for her helmet.

also has star-shaped eyes, but hers are slightly smaller, and less obviously noticeable.

has a bee necklace, because of her bee motif.

the pleated skirt was an accident i drew before looking at a reference. but i drew those pleats, so i had to keep them.

we gave her skirt pockets, because pockets are a nice thing for skirts to have!

we kinked her and Wordgirl's hair. she deserves curly hair with volume <3

Tobey

he has stupid hair. one of his cowlicks looked very awkward, so i decided to make it reminiscent of his robits antennae.

he has sectoral heterochromia - we agree that Tobey has heterochromia, but we agree slightly stronger that his eyes are blue.

his knees are a little scuffed up. i picture he's fallen off the robits a few times and scraped em.

his socks are lowered slightly. he's older now, so we thought his socks should be more reasonable.

Steven Boxleitner + Two-Brains + Squeaky

Steven's ref is chocked full of references to his fate as Two-Brains.

first is the tail-like flyaway on the back of his head. it's inspired by a comic character, and is meant to be reminiscent of a mouse tail.

the same goes for Two-Brains's two brain, it's shaped like a mouse to resemble Squeaky, and the flyaway of the hair tuft under it is meant to be her tail.

i noticed that Squeaky actually has a little bit of a snaggletooth, so i gave that, along with the normal mouse chompers, to Two-Brains.

his bowtie resembles mouse ears

on Steven, his lab coat sleeves are actually tucked into his long gloves. on Two-Brains, they are cut off.

Steven wears a button-up shirt tucked into his pants. Two-Brains wears a t-shirt.

Two-Brains belt is falling out, because Squeaky does not care for clothes and TB must put them on as fast as possible.

inspired by the same comic character as before, the tail of his labcoat is also meant to resemble the tail of a mouse.

Steven has dressy shoes, with spat-like coloring that matches with Becky's. Two-Brains has sneakers that are inspired by a lot of furry art i see where their toes are out - TB does not have his toes out, but the lines are meant to resemble paws.

Squeaky does not let TB tie his laces.

Squeaky herself resembles a dumbo rat, despite being a mouse. Her not looking like the ideal mouse is what lead to her being on sale.

Two-Brains has little chin whiskers, because mice have So Darn many. that's also what his little zigzag flyaway is meant to resemble.

Chuck

Chuck's lettuce is a bit more leafy and his eyes are dots to add to his innocent, cuteness factor.

Raven told me he has pickles, so i drew a little pickle on him.

Chuck has freckles that resemble the crumb of white bread. or he has a crumb that resembles freckles.

he has a turtleneck, we didn't think his ma would want him to go out without a sweater.

we couldn't figure out his shoes - so we decided to make them rainboots that look like green olives.

Butcher

we gave him blue eyes because it's good contrast.

i gave him a little face bandage because i thought it would be funny if he cut himself shaving.

i gave him a little chest hair. you can probably guess why :,]

gave him generic loafers based on a line where he mentioned his shoes not having laces.

Lil' Mittens

gave him mittens <3

he now has a little red collar with a bell, because i think once Butcher lost him once, he had to make sure he never lost him again. his collar is red because it's the meatiest color.

The Whammer

we once came across a furry wordgirl au, and started to think about what the other characters would be. obviously, we decided that Whammer was a bull. we decided to take that idea and run with it, and make him a cute little cowboy.

he has cow ears. Raven pitched the idea, and initially i put them on his helmet, and then where human ears would go. Raven eventually had to kick me and tell me to put them were cow ears would go. Raven was right.

i think cow eartags are really cute, so i had to give him one.

initially, i gave Whammer an anti-nursing tag on his nose. Raven thought it was too much and told me to make it a nose ring. you know, like a BULL.

i get nervous when a character design uses too many colors, and everyone agreed that Whammer's outfit was really ugly. so we decided to make it purple and orange, like his mask, to make those "his" colors.

Invisi-Bill

Invisi-Bill is a neat little creature, and ever since i started drawing him, i decided to give him elf ears for no real reason than to make him more creaturelike.

in A Questionable Pair, it's shown Invisi-Bill has his ears pierced. i look advantage of his long ears and gave him an earring with a chain.

he has I cufflinks because he's Invisi-Bill! yay!

he has a tooth gap because he is my favorite and i have a tooth gap :]

he has 2-tone wingtip shoes because he is my favorite i like 2-tone wingtip shoes :]

Big Left Hand Guy

blhg has slightly darker skin, because i think he's related to the stout, tan-skinned bank guard.

i gave him a cane based on a mention in the fanfic BLHG's Big Dilemma by DandyMaximilian. helps him not stand knocked over slightly.

he has one gay earring, based on the designs of rootbeertime. i just put it on the right ear. i think it's funny he would do that.

Ms Question

has yellow sclera, because that's the color her eyes were when she first got her powers.

i've seen at least two fanarts of her with question mark earrings, and i think it's really, really cute.

we thought that her little black wrist braces were silly. we decided to full-on give her black gloves.

Raven really loved the little gold trim of WordGirl's boots in the comics, and wanted to give this lady also with red boots the same touch.

The Coach

none of us really care for The Coach, so he is basically the same as canon. except for his cuffs!!! i had to fix his cuffs!! they were the wrong color!!!

Kid Math

when we decided to give Becky a bee motif, we also decided that Kid Math should also have a bug. we decided on making him a termite, because Hexagon is a math-based society, and architecture is pretty mathy.

we replaced his cape with wings. it adds to his alien nature. additionally, winged termites are young creatures who are sent out to scout for new territory. Kid Math is young, and it relates slightly to our arc for him.

he has hexagon-shaped eyes to contrast WordGirl's star-shaped ones. 

he has compound eyes like a fly, and orangey sclera, to add to his buginess and alienness.

he has little fangs.

Mr. Big

mostly the same as canon, but i upped his bunnyness and fancied his shoes.

his tie is now striped to resemble his mind control beams.

i thought the little kerchief in his pocket looked ugly, so i replaced it with a itty bitty squishy bunny.

he also has bunny cufflinks :]

The Squishy Bunnies, i guess

i just made them cute. i couldn't bring myself to draw their canon designs

Leslie

basically the same as canon, but bunnyed her up a little. we thought it would be funny if Mr. Big had no dress code, aside from "one bunny item", so we gave her a bunny hairclip and bunny earrings.

her choker is black now because we didn't think the purple really needed to be there

Granny May

made her hair more curly, because she is a black woman.

made her pearls slightly more yellow, because they're old.

her pearl necklace has a little diamond shape on it as a button to turn into her metal suit.

made the band on her dress green and a bow, because we thought it was cute and old ladyish :]

gave her a cane, because she's a little older than she used to be. also, it's a new weapon against WordGirl

Colonel Mustard

gave him some hair back. mostly because i thought his exposed cheek was ugly, and figured i'd give him the paws back while i was at it.

Victoria Best

we thought it would be fun if she wasn't really blonde.

i lowered her pigtails and made her ties bows, because she's a little older now, and the bows were cuter.

at the request of Robin, she now has freckles to resemble her brother.

we gave her slightly pinkish nudey eyeshadow, because we felt like she would be the type to wear it.

her eyes are inspired by ocular albinism, her eyes are blue, but in certain lights, become red, like when her eyes glow.

her skirt is pleats now, like Becky.

we gave her mary janes, because they're kinda like Becky's silly shoes, but Better.

Lady Redundant Woman

we made her slightly paler, to resemble a blank piece of printer paper.

made her eyes CMY, like a printer.

her downward-facing eyelashes are meant to resemble ink dripping from her eyes.

canonically she has lips, but none of us thought the pink suited her. so we gave her a cute black upper lip, like ink.

we pinked her suit slightly to moreso resemble the magenta of a printer.

i made her belt a floppy disk. i just thought it'd be funny.

we gave her boots a white trim, because Raven thought her boots were white.

Maria, Charlie, Meatball

basically unchanged from canon

A colony ship is on its way out of Ashing City docks. What's the deal? Well...

After the mass outrage, violent riots, and a lot of lobbying by jealous companies, the Oligarchy felt the political pressure to prevent robits from being used on the habitats and a compromise was made between the state and Ascension Co.

Initially the plan was to create autonomous robit colonies, but it seems there are a healthy minority of people who don't mind the robits and many Zangren have chosen to join the colony ships and live amongst and work with the robits labourers.

Only one such colony ship has been constructed, but we can expect many more in the near future.

In other news, the downward trends of the economy are beginning to reverse. How much does this have to do with Ascension Co's aid programs? In what ways can we thank our alien allies for their help? Where was Voxong and the three families when we needed them? What can you do about it? Stay tuned to hear more after the break.

Today, I watched the first four episodes of the 1963 anime "Astro boy"(dubbed). Looking back on such an old show from this far in the future was quite interesting, as "Astro boy" itself is a science fiction show set in the marvellous future year of 2000ce! So I got to see what people from seventy years ago thought twenty years ago would look like, robots everywhere, strange nuclear-powered vehicles, round everything. The show starts with one of these fantastical inventions, a marvellous self-driving car occupied by what seems to be our main character. But just like real life driving cars, this one immediately crashes, killing its driver Astor. It was honestly a bit shocking, more so to the boy's father than me watching it, but shocking nonetheless. The father, Dr Boynton of the ministry of science, goes mad and creates a robot to replace his dead child. This leads us to our actual main character, Astro boy. Though after only about a year Dr. Boynton gets mad at Astro for "not growing". The fact that a scientist thinks aluminium can grow confounds me, but whatever. Astro is sold to the circus, which is very bad to him, but then a different scientist from the ministry cites robot rights law at him and Astro is given to the care of the ministry.  After this introductory episode, all other episodes follow different plots. There doesn't seem to be a connecting thread other than 'Astro boy is there' and 'robits'. The whole show is pretty entertaining. It's very quaint in its oldness, the animation can get pretty janky at times, though there was a notable part a short ways into episode three where the background was really well done for a single shot. The visuals are quite inventive at points, the entire opening of episode three was a speculative grouping of Martian aliens which were all quite imaginative looking. The entire show is packed with these little animated jokes, gags, like when a spaceship takes off it cuts to a view of a mouse cooking a kebab off of the exhaust flames. The show is very quickly paced, It wants to make use of all the time it has in those twenty minutes an episode. Dead air doesn't exist, something is always happening, and the moment that stops we immediately cut to the next thing. As it was made in the 60s, the show does have some questionable depictions of minorities, but I'm not nearly qualified enough to talk about that. Overall it's an okay show, pretty good for its time. I wouldn't really suggest you watch more than one or two episodes, but if you have a small child, It would probably be fantastic to show them it. Certainly better than sitting them in front of YouTube for hours on end. 65/100 Kindest regards – Fluffysheep

im still not sure if this game connects to the others some are saying yes and others no so i guess i'll just go in release order.

why are the alien fights always happening near humans, either this is literally happening everywhere in the galaxy and earth is unlucky to get blown up or the alien fights have something to do with humans in particular. Yeah the xenomorphs attacked the white whale so humans arent just collateral but being actively targeted. Wonder what the deal ks with that, the other alien force too.

I still dint get what blade does but player character is getting pretty railroaded into it, what if they wanted to be a farmer? This really is like an mmo

Oh hey we're a robot. That what a minesome(?) is? One of the sidequests brought it up. She wanted to get pregnant or something so i assumed it was a lab grown human situation but nah just a robit. Ok so everyone in new la is a mineosome and the fleshy bodies are in the lifehold? But wait I thought player character was from a piece of the lifehold or maybe I'm remembering wrong. What about linly 2 years is a long time for a teenager has she just not been aging i wonder how they're counting age. Either way child soldier. So we have flesh bodies in the lifehold. Some in mineosomes as crew on the ship and more mineosomes in reserve? And all the mineosomes are being controlled from the lifehold. Man their wifi must be really good surprised there havent been more problems where mineosomes disconnect. Oofies lifehold battery at 41% makes sense that if the mineosome wifi is up they can have this reading but i wonder if so much communication is possible why isn't there like gps on the lifehold so it can rely it's position.

Why is elma slumming it with us? She's experienced, had a command position (colonel?) Shouldnt she be like super important and also part of command)

So the lifehold was carrying 2 bodies for each person the flesh one and the mineosome that sounds like a lot. If the lifehold had the body of every person shouldn't it be huge? Why haven't ariel images shown it yet.

So everyone speaking the same language is some weird phenomena specific to the planet??

Several side characters have died. So assuming elma's story us true which sus. Then they might not be permanently dead either with their real bodies in the lifehold or through another robot body. Elma says that consciousnesses and personalities are being livestreamed from the lifehold but they arent stored in the mims.

The ganglions attacked nla to get that skell that was surrounded by tainted. Wonder what it is, something to do with that great one (sound like a cult) the grandmster boss dude was talking about. Why the hell is pc even here. Elma's the main character. Hoho? Elma thinks lao's traitor?

Why is L coming on the top importance military mission for the lifehold core. He's a scholar.

If 0.2% battery is 1000s or 15min (16.67 actually). Then 1000*500 to get 100% battery capacity or 500,000s. 500000/(60*60*24) = 5.79 days hmm doesn't seem right. Writers probably just came up with numbers. Or the battery isn't draining linearly with the ganglions attacking the shields.

i was wondering why every species had mechs like what are the chances so many different cultures made the same thing. and not only that but all the technology is compatible i can barely get an iphone to connect to a windows computer. so the ganglions see humans as an existential threat but also a violation of the sacred. oh the vita was that one mech that was super important. slugman says it can only be piloted by the great one. and then there's the question of how humans are connected to the Founders. one of them also said humans have technology that they shouldn't like that's part of another faction.

this is terrible design. on a spaceship space management is critical, all this empty space is a waste. yeah yeah shady organization lied. uh isn't bringing the back up power online more important than talking right now. like either could have talked on the walk and elevator ride up or talked after

yeah xbc1 was pretty transhuman but now we're really getting into it. idk about in... when was its game released? 2013? but i think it's pretty common knowledge that long distance space travel isn't very feasible with a lot of human bodies it'd be with like frozen zygotes or a text file for dna. btw you can already get your genome sequenced and get a big txt file. but a body isn't just the genetic code there's mitochondrial dna and all the cellular machinery that is inherited from one body to the next. this twist makes a lot of sense. uh elma im assuming you got the power up before giving this giant explanation and demonstration? also why wouldn't back up power automatically connect that sounds poorly designed.

where do you draw the line. yeah lao brought it up too that that even if he dies a new lao might be created without his consent (or possibly memories). what doug brings up is a common question if the new created person is the continuation of the original or a new person. "the ethical issues" yeah gurl you just pressed a button and made a cat people are right to be concerned.

i mean the copy of lao in the lifehold isn't quite the one that fused with luxxar. i don't know when that copy was backed up to but it couldn't have been later than losing contact with the lifehold when the white whale crash landed onto mira. that lao is still drowning in grief and never had the character arc of this game's events.

elma as special as a shounen protag. this has been way longer than 15 minutes. why would you need a unique biometric id to initiate backup power. that's such a fragile system. bad design. well unless there's some sort of renewable power system in the core it still needs to be hooked up to a permanent power source.

literally everything is elma. warned earth to prepare to get caught up in a war. which now that im thinking about it the ganglions were trying to win a battle AND destroy earth 2 goals in that battle. all the technology that looks suspiciously like other species? elma. robo bodies. elma. the mechs every other species has. elma

also ethics of space colonization and replacing native species with earth ones. re: red mars for world without any native life unlike mira which is full of it.

huh so the game ends with linly reflecting on a dream of searching for and returning to earth. or is that metaphorical about connecting with the other human ships. or is this about the samaarian homeworld?

this ended up happier than i thought. back at the halfway point a while back i was speculating that the lifehold would get destroyed and new la would be forced to continue on as it is. the lifehold is a sort of guarantee that the past is not lost, that humans can reclaim what they once had. it's a guarantee that they can be reborn endlessly. and if that was all lost then that would be a clean break between the past on earth and the future on mira. there would be no return to the past and no choice but to go forward into a new life on mira.

ost for this game is really good. it's like just off center of my tastes but i appreciate it. end song's a banger.

oh. I'd already assumed local storage because that's what made the most sense to me. so the higher up weren't lying as much as I thought. the lie was that consciousness was being wifi transmitted from real bodies in the lifehold to remote control the mimeosomes. when the truth (as they knew it) was that all that consciousness wasn't in a flesh body but a big computer. see the part i got wrong was i thought the core thing was life a usb or solid state drive, inert until accessed, just data. but in hind sight i ignored the narrative cues that the core is actually a computer running several thousand programs at once to simulate everyone's minds and that's what's wifi controlling the mims i mean why else would the core be using power, a usb or book doesn't use power to maintain storage the core must be doing something if the battery is draining. but then the stinger reveals that i just jumped a step ahead and there was in truth in truth no remote control and no live streaming consciouses. the game got me good! i thought i was proven wrong on my ending prediction.

and then lao washes up on a beach with a figure finding him.

story was good though I liked 1 better. x had 2 twists at the end where 1 was like being punched the entire time. the end was really good about payoff for all the tension that had been building up the entire game with the countdown, all the little things were brought together really well. satisfying conclusion. The beginning and middle of the game were meh for me. part of that is baked into the game design as basically a single player mmo. but xbcx has none of the best parts of an mmo which is running around goofing off with other people and all the worst parts of an mmo being tedious and repetitive with nothing much going anywhere or changing anything, just building up meters at base.

A good half of the party members seemed to just be there to fill space. Like Elma and Linly are the only critical ones. Then Tatsu, doug and the other nla humans are somewhat involved. But like Celica or L are completely irrelevant and I'd rather just have them as side quest characters then just stand around in cutscenes. the heart to hearts help but they like either go all in or dont bother at all. also the player character was totally unnecessary just let me play as elma.

im just ignoring all the skimpy clothes for women and fanservice.

Some of the stuff from the "Station 5" section is not quite so true anymore, but then I have previously stated that many of the events I talk about for Robits happens over an extended period of time, so most of the information that has slight conflicts with other bits is mostly due to changes over time (in universe)

For example: The "Amnesiac" point for Streaker and Vole progressed from when they were Hi-fi and Lo-fi/ Crash and Burn and they met an Autobot deserter named Magnum after crash landing on the planet he was keeping his depressed aft on. Due to the crash, their memories got fucked up.

As a whole, Station 5 Streaker and Vole do not have any types of amnesia that affect them long term (like anterograde amnesia which is the inability to form new memories), but they have at several points in their functioning

Similarly, the twins don't have sparks, but they do have the space to hold them, thus holding Beatdown and Blastwave's sparks is still an opportunity, but I often forget about it lol
