(rant warning 😱)
The fact that Sonic from that one sonic boom game, says "He'd be a great addition to the sonic team" kinda says a lot about how much sonic knows him, more than we do.
I mean, yeah, sure, from the moment we're introduced to Shadow the hedgehog!boom, we know that they've already met before.
But as viewers, the only thing we've seen, is how violent and mean shadow can be. (Like, my dude swung tails by the tails like my ceiling fan 💀 man has no remorse whatsoever)
So, I'm wondering why we've "never" questioned why Sonic would have wanted him in the first place. I mean, my guy is not the brightest in the room, so why HIM?
(I don't wanna begin questioning the canon radar of The rise of lyric, so let's just pretend that it is, for the sake of this rant)
Sonic has probably seen sides of Shadow that isn't so bad. From the dialogue: "Too bad that guy is such hardcase" probably means he still couldn't find ways to communicate with Shadow in a good way, but still— Sonic knew that Shadow isn't all that bad, he just knows that he's "acting" bad..
For the sake of his ego? Past trauma? We'll never know, but we know that Sonic knows. He describes Shadow as a hardcase, a case that is hard to open, but still a case that could be open.
Sonic probably wanted Shadow in his team, because of his strength and the help he could give, but the guy is simply a hardcase.
In my conclusion, Shadow!boom is mean, really mean. But he's not so mean to the point Sonic couldn't stand him.
Honourable mention: When Shadow asks Sonic whether Eggman has manipulated him in some ways and Sonic said "probably", Shadow immediately takes it as a yes and went to beat up eggman without proofs or questions... It kind of shows that he also has some level of trust with Sonic. Which is funny, because that scene happend just after Shadow beats the living soul out of him.
"are you implying that eggman has tricked me?"
"ermm, idk prolly yes? I could be wrong tho"
"Aight, say less" *goes to beat up the wrong eggman*
Edit: Sorry, my bad, The game that I was quoting to, was called Sonic Boom shattered crystal, not Rise of lyric. I can't believe they made this much game, I thought there was only one. Cool on them though.

Silver Boom
Feeling in a Sonic mood, let's see how long it lasts :p
Tumblr media
So I've had my main hedgehogs done for a while, finally finished Tails, and I'm halfway done with Knuckles and don't feel motivated enough to finish him -.- but this is more or less what he'll look like
I have an older version of the 'hogs and a lot of info on Reddit
Anyways
Silver the Hedgehog is my favorite Sonic character and the initial idea for this was to add Silver to the Sonic Boom franchise, rewriting the mess that was Rise of Lyric. Then I could add him into the show's timeline and fix some things that bugged me there. Like Sticks' whole existence.
But we'll get to that!
I realized at some point that I can basically do whatever I want with this universe, so I decided to utilize elements of most of the Sonic games/media I was familiar with, researching what I was less familiar with, and throwing it all together to create a mostly coherent story. I'll try to use (or at least touch on) as much as I can but forgive me if I leave out your favorite thing. If I do, please tell me about it! I can always be persuaded to add more and this universe is hardly set in stone :p
Basic History of Mobius
While the planet mobius was mostly formed like any other, its molten core contained magic mixed with magma. From the tumult, some of the magic magma crystalized and found its way to the surface, forming eight crystals directly linked to the eight quadrants of the spherical molten magic core. Lesser crystals filled with magic power grew in caves near the magic magma but their powers were finite while the connected eight, eventually called Chaos Crystals, were seemingly limitless as they drew from the core directly.
The Ancients, as they would come to be known, used the “clean” energy of the Chaos Crystals to fuel their hi-tech society but removing the Crystals from their proper places and using their energy with such reckless abandon unbalanced the planet’s magic and the society crumbled under its own weight. Many of the Chaos Crystals were taken and jealously guarded by what would become a magic fueled ruling class, generally influenced by the crystals’ instinctual will to return to their rightful places in the world.
Such was the fate of the Sun Stone of Soleanna, Spagonia; The Radiant Opal in the Kingdom of Acorn, Northammer; the Sky Garnet of the Babylonian Gardens, Shamar, until its cataclysmic demise and subsequent withdrawal into a desert storm; the Verdant Emerald of Angel Island, guarded by the near extinct Knuckles Clan of echidnas; and, in a way, the Twilight Amethyst of the Moonlit Mountains, Holoska, whose protectors are “recruited” from across the globe for their powerful potential. Of the remaining Chaos Crystals, the Shock Zircon powers a prison holding a mage and mechanist from the Ancient War; the Tidal Sapphire is protected by a powerful water elemental in the depths of the sea; and the Flame Ruby is sealed and resealed within a host, the latest of which is the heir to Soleanna’s throne. Having two Chaos Crystals in such close proximity to each other, and Angel Island traveling overhead, unbalanced the magic enough for Lyric to escape his prison and begin to plan his takeover.
~
In more recent history, humans arrived in the Space Colony Arc about 150 years ago, enough time for the first generation (Gerald Robotnik) to have died off, the second generation (Professor Pickle) to be old and retired, the third generation (Ivo Robotnik/"Eggman") to have been at least raised on the planet if not born there, and the fourth generation (Chris Thorndyke) to be in school, having known nothing else.
Mobius was in a medieval type of era when they arrived and relied heavily on a magic-wielding ruling class with various magic artifacts. The humans, only about a thousand strong when they arrived, bribed their way to peace by selling their tech and knowledge, allowing the average citizen to be able to stand toe-to-toe with magic-wielders. This lead to rapid advances and an odd mix of extremely advanced technology right next to medieval magic, as well as a combined magi-tech emerging in prominence, as they begin to understand the mechanisms behind their magic.
The Arc is in approximate geosynchronous orbit over Spagonia and is considered the capital “city” for humans, though they’ve been allowed to make several colonies on the planet itself. Eggman is essentially kicked out of the human civilization for being too reckless and unpredictable to fit into the box most humans set up for themselves. He’s mostly harmless, unable to take over a single island due to Sonic and friends stopping him.
~
Our story begins as Silver wakes up from another nightmare, the same one he always has; the blue hedgehog, surrounded by flame and rubble, turning to look at Silver with a cocky smile. The details would change, of course, but the hedgehog and the dread was always the same. Silver goes about his day (possibly several days, depending) before Mephiles contacts Silver to come see him. Mephiles is the personification of the Twilight Amethyst and leader of the Twilight Clan; he knows of Silver’s constant nightmares and wants to hear about this latest one. Eventually the discussion turns to Silver’s increasing desire to leave, find the blue Hedgehog, and prevent the destruction he always sees in his dreams. Mephiles eventually relents; Silver is banished from the Clan, as is their custom with anyone who leaves, but he does so with Mephiles’ blessing.
Led by instinct, Silver finds himself at Bygone Isle and immediately recognizes Sonic from his dreams. Having heard horror stories about outsiders all his life, Silver decides to hide and observe for now; it’s against his nature to hurt the innocent but he isn’t sure Sonic is innocent of the impending doom. Some stories were confirmed to be true, like everyone living separately, but some seemed to be false, like nobody helping each other. Of course, it doesn’t take long for Silver to be found out; he was well trained but still young and inexperienced. In a panic, Silver spouts off about the inevitable doom of the planet and Sonic’s connection to it, leading to misunderstandings and general caution between them. Silver still watches but doesn’t bother hiding as much.
Thus begins the main storyline of Rise of Lyric. Race around the globe with Sonic and friends to see who can get to the Chaos Crystals first; can our heroes keep them long enough to keep the world from falling apart?

I have been thinking about how Sonic 06 and Rise of Lyric had the same problem. Both games had a lot of potential, but were rushed and left unfinished and full of glitches. So I thought I'd ask you guys which one is you prefer or think is better.
I'm kind of torn myself. On one hand, I like the concept and story of Rise of Lyric more. But Sonic 06 gave us Silver, my favorite character, a well written Shadow, and Mephiles was pretty cool. What do you guys think?

Theory on why society is a mess in Sonic Boom!
Tails being legally allowed to fly a plane makes alot of sense in Boom! Bygone Island clearly doesnt have the ideal goverment system or laws.. Thats because their society is actually not as old as you may think! Im gonna try to explain why that is!
Tumblr media
All across Boom, there are ruins of a highly advance society, with a newer way less advance looking society build ontop of the ruins! I think the village is the best example of this! You can clearly tell the ancient overgrown structures apart from the poorly build ones!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to Rise of Lyric, there is a gap of exactly a 1000 years between Lyric's generation, and Team Sonic's generation. While this doesnt say it exactly took 1000 years for them to disappear, we do know it happend within this timeframe!
Tumblr media
This is all the canon imagery we have of said Ancients! Do you notice anything particular about them? They look EXACTLY like the species the villagers are in the newer society!
Tumblr media
So what Im gathering from this, is that something catastrophic happend to the ancients within a 1000 years timeframe, but a few of them surived! Those surivors would attempt rebuild society, but alot of knowledge has been lost in the process..
Thats right, this new society was made within 1000 years, it took our society alot longer to get to the point this new society in Boom got! But its clear that society hasnt fully recovered from this catastrophic, and you can tell by its many inperfections!
Tumblr media
This includes laws! The laws in Sonic Boom are unreliable, and the goverments pretty corrupted.. Alot of stuff that should be illegal is actually 100% legal in the Boom universe! And with a corrupted goverment I dont see that changing for them anytime soon..

reasons that sonic frontiers is actually a sequel to rise of lyric:
the main cast is sonic, tails, amy and knuckles
sonic’s pressing a lot of buttons he shouldn’t and waking up a lot of things he shouldn’t
sonic gets to see some shit go down in the distant past involving beings known as the “ancients” while in the present exploring the ruins of their civilization
eggman is here with his beloved child who has a fakeout death
sonic also gets his own fakeout death
there’s a friendly female AI who switches to Sonic’s side
the game ends with sonic’s team backing him up so that he can kill the boss
sticks is briefly mentioned but not relevant

The land speed record was held by the Atari Jaguar for eighteen years, until it was broken by a Wii U Gamepad thrown out of a window during one man's playthrough of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.

A thing I did a week ago and completely forgot to share, but I was in a conversation with some friends regarding sonic stuff and I basically went on this mini tangent about how Lyric should be given a 2nd chance via putting him in the Modern Timeline with some modifications to make him more interesting instead of being a generic evil man like he was in Boom. I will die on many hills, and this is but one of those hills I will die on.
And yes, I am aware of the type of “Mordern” shut up

Why Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is one of my favorite Sonic games.
I know this game is full of glitches (what Sonic game isn't?), but I thought it had some very good points for game play and story mode. Again, these are just my person opinions. Please don't bash me for speaking my mind.
Playing as multiple characters. I've seen a lot of people complain about only playing as mostly Sonic. Here, you can play as him, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. And you can choose who you can play as at almost any point in the game. This is a real team effort game!
More open world than most Sonic games. As someone who plays a lot of Pokemon, I appreciate the feeling of exploring areas and coming back to discover new things.
Expressive animation. There is a lot of emotion in the facial expressions, almost the same as the cartoon. It feels like we see more of that than even in more recent games.
Serious Sonic. Another common fan complaint is how Sonic is always cheerful and easy going no matter what the situation. This is a different level. He's still very confident, but we see Sonic taking the matter of releasing Lyric very seriously. Making jokes when needed and being earnest in tough situations. It's one of the things that makes me love Sonic Boom so much.
Lyric. I have to admit, he seems like an interesting character. It kind of reminds me of the older games and comics with Robotnik wiping out nature, view robots and technology as superior. I do wish we got more backstory on his illness and what else motivated him to go this far. And I wish he was in the show too.
