🎶 And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there 🎶

Ask Post: Frank & Fliss 31 33 35
31: What is the 10th picture in your phone gallery?
Frank: This is the one thing I’m actually kinda glad you forced me into embracing smart phones for…
Tumblr media
damnit, she’s growing up so fast.
Fliss: Mmmhmmm. Boys next, Sailor.
Frank: Nope, not happening.
Fliss: chuckles. Okay… here’s mine. Oh look, it’s Alex…playing in mud. Again.
Tumblr media
Frank grins: he’s a boy, he’s supposed to get dirty.
Fliss: Like father like son, huh?
Frank: You said it, cowgirl.
33. What job would you be terrible at, and what job would you be good at?
Fliss: Anything office based. I can’t…no, I can’t imagine being sat inside all day, at a desk, with…loads of people and all the politics that go with it. And I don’t think I could deal with working for anyone either. I’m too…
Frank: stubborn, sassy, hot headed…
Fliss: Oh my god, says you!!
Frank grins.
Fliss: But, that said, I think I’d make a pretty good teacher. I love kids…it would be a little different, you know? Seeing them all learn and grow.
Frank: I’d be a real, real crap bar owner. Like…really bad. I’d end up drinking the profits.
Fliss laughs
Frank: But I make a pretty good boat mechanic, so would be a decent normal mechanic too, I think.
35: What did you think was cool when you were younger?
Frank: My dad. My dad was…gahd, so much fun. He was always up for playing, helping us climb trees, taking us outside and to ball games and…he smiles softly. Used to drive mother mad.
Fliss smiles softly. Erm…horses. Always been horses. Never…never really changed. She grins.

I met an older nb queer (I estimate early 50s) at the club last night. It was a religious experience. We talked about mushrooms, AIDs, and Terry Gilliams movies.
They told me about identifying as a sissy when they were a kid because that was the only term they had for an effeminate man. We talked about gender and the way the world has changed then they passed me a very strong joint.
As the night wore on they leaned over and told me how good it was to meet a butch for the first time in a long time. They told me that when they were 16 and sneaking out of the house to go to gay bars the butches were the ones who took them in.
I had to hold back tears in the club.
There are futures for all of us. And if your future involves tophats with feathers, silly songs, and trippy jackets, then there's a future for you too.

Anthro Au Survivor drafts feat. too much worldbuilding because I cant just put pants on a slugcat like a normal person & my godawful handwriting
The Survivor (Their full, scavenger-given name includes the 'The') was separated from their family while traveling between colonies and stranded in the dangerous unpopulated wilds. Against all odds they managed to survive (and wander) far longer than they should have been able, but rather than reconnecting with their (or another) slugcat family, they instead made contact with one of the many wandering scavenger troops- But unfortunately not one that had ever met a slugcat nor had any idea what to make of a stranded one. Regardless the group gave it their best, ended up committing to the role of slugparents, and The Survivor and their troop still consider themselves close family long after Survivor finally reconnected with their sibling. (They're a bit of a mess though, understandably)

I’m just saying that if two teenagers being crowned king and queen at a high school prom counted as a “king and queen being crowned anew in Solace” for an ancient curse on a giant dragon man, then a girl doing everything in her power to become Student Body President probably counts as a holy conquest worthy of her corrupted god.

Ride High in 2023
Ride High in 2023
Oh my, 2023 feels already rich with promise and delight, wouldn’t you agree? The New York Times has set us up with the 7-Day Happiness Challenge, and The Brain Revolution Podcast shared the Harvard Business Review article “Why Purpose–Not Passion– Should Guide Young Professionals.”  Between the two I am feeling that January will be an avenue toward brighter days. Sure, those House Republicans are…

one of the things about being an educator is that you hear what parents want their kids to be able to do a lot. they want their kid to be an astronaut or a ballerina or a politician. they want them to get off that damn phone. be better about socializing. stop spending so much time indoors. learn to control their own temper. to just "fucking listen", which means to be obedient.
one of the things i learned in my pedagogy classes is that it's almost always easier to roleplay how you want someone to act. it's almost always easier to explain why a rule exists, rather than simply setting the rule and demanding adherence.
i want my kids to be kind. i want them to ask me what book they should read next, and i want to read that book with them so we can discuss it. i want my kid to be able to tell me hey that hurt my feelings without worrying i'll punish them. i want my kid to be proud of small things and come running up to me to tell me about them. i want them to say "nah, i get why this rule exists, but i get to hate it" and know that i don't need them to be grateful-for-the-roof-overhead while washing the dishes. i want them to teach me things. i want them to say - this isn't safe. i'm calling my mom and getting out of this. i want them to hear me apologize when i do fuck up; and i want them to want to come home.
the other day a parent was telling me she didn't understand why her kid "just got so angry." this woman had flown off the handle at me.
my dad - traditional catholic that he is - resents my sentiment of "gentle parenting". he says they'll grow up spoiled, horrible, pretentious. granola, he spits.
i am going to be kind to them. i am going to set the example, i think. and whatever they choose become in the meantime - i'm going to love them for it.

7, 15 and 35 Frank and Fliss
Riding High Universe
7: If you could create any mix-up or mythical animal and have it be brought to life, what would it be?
Fliss: A unicorn
Frank: How did I know that would be your answer?
Fliss grins: A pretty horse with a spikey horn on its head? What’s not to like?
Frank snorts: Hmmm, mine would probably be…maybe a mermaid. Ocean based, ya know?
Fliss: Im assuming you mean the pretty type not the ones from Harry Potter?
Frank shrugs…grinning.
15: Have you felt butterflies in your stomach today?
Both smile, and then Frank looks at Fliss.
Frank: Every day, when I wake up, see my wife…
Fliss: Smooth, Sailor.
Frank shrugs: Its true, Cowgirl
Fliss blushing: Yeah, kinda the same…and then there’s the other type of feeling I get…when you’re all dirty.
Frank: grinning…
35: What did you think was cool when you were younger?
Frank: My dad. He was the coolest guy on Earth to me until he died. And boats. I used to love the boats at the harbour and on vacation. They’re still cool
Fliss: I’m so sad, mine was always horses, but specifically the Natural horsemanship shows that mum and dad used to take us to see. The connection between them and their humans, and the things they could do…oh man, it was what made me want to work with them.
