Dying dying dying to know the full set of voicelines for Resplendent Grima but in the meantime I guess I will simply think about the two they previewed...

The thing is, you know, Grima seems to bluffing again, because uh... "It is only natural the weak serve as kindling for the strong. Muspell's ideology aligns with my own." Grima my beloved that is NOT your ideology.

I mean, at first glance it's pretty similar to what Halloween m!Grima says...

"Those without the will or power to resist can only be crushed underfoot. Such is the nature of the harvest." But... Grima is not saying that this is how things SHOULD be, only that this is how he views the world: as a horrible zero-sum game where those without power are crushed by those who have it.

Like, Muspell (the dragon) comes across as pretty straightforward and unironic in his callousness towards mortals and in his belief that it would be good for them all to just fight to the death. But no matter how many lines the various Grima alts have disparaging humans and talking about crushing them like worms, Grima also makes it clear that they do care. They care a lot and do not like that the world is the ruthless place they see it as.

We know Grima's REAL ideology, because legendary Grima presents it to us.

"One person's satisfaction means another must suffer. That is the truth of all worlds. But my power of destruction is the one true equalizer."

The world that Muspell desires is in fact the one that Grima would put to an end. Grima HATES Muspell's ideology. Saying it "aligns" with his is only true in the sense that Grima believes that that harsh and depressing way of life is inescapable reality.

(Though... "If you think there's someone out there capable of leading the world with such high-minded ideas of love and bonds... I'd love to meet them." is very interesting in the context of the Kingdom of Muspell because... well, Laegjarn and Laevatein are in many ways quite similar to Emmeryn and Chrom, don't you think? And they are the ones who would be guiding the nation. Muspell the dragon says he "knows nothing" of the kingdom because "mortals are of no consequence" so... if Grima were to visit, it would be the royals he would see.)

But it does make me wonder if Grima is perhaps... a little envious of Muspell's perspective? Because saying that "a kingdom that consumes all with roaring flame" is "an ideal to strive for" suggests that... he's not there yet himself. That he's looking at the callousness of Muspell and Surtr and thinking that he needs to care less and destroy more...

I decided to call this kiddo, Viatrix, and got her as a free summon!!

Her existence is quite sad. She's an artificial being whose personhood is tied to a crown, and its so difficult not to read her lines as being said by someone much younger than Veyle. A reverse young Tiki, if you will.

FEH gives the means to heal the fallen, so maybe the Order's chill atmosphere will allow her to grow. If not, I still have my pen!

According to the note I made when playing Engage last year, she got 3 potential nicknames Vi/Via/Vivi.

I came across the name when looking up things about Genshin Impact (can't play so reading instead), and its the name of Lumine's constellation.

Resplendent Adult Tiki is a fantastic design and I'm SO hyped for it in this essay I will

So first of all, I know the álfar themes are a bit overused on female resplendents HOWEVER miss Tiki is always sleepy!

And Dökkálfar works especially well because when she was a child, she was suffering from nightmares of becoming an evil dragon :(

As TheShadowKing66 pointed out, her top is taken basically directly from Rearmed!Plumeria. HOWEVER... she also has design elements reminiscent of course from her base art, as well as Naga! (The cut of the top/collar, the little spiky floral skirt bits)

And LOOK AT HER WINGS those are GRIMA EYES 👁️ in them! And the wings come to a point like a Plegian crown! phantom-miria also pointed out when I was screaming in our DMs that her boots look like a Plegian mage's

And the parallelism between the álfar and dragons is just SO good... especially since this is the Divine Dragon, VOICE OF NAGA, wearing nightmare realm and Plegian-inspired clothing. It's basically saying:

Dökkálfar = Fell Dragons, Ljósálfar = Divine Dragons

AND LEST WE FORGET Lucina—who has the Mark of Naga in her eyeball from a pact her ancestors made with Naga, and who seeks out Tiki's help as the Voice of Naga to defeat Grima in the game's timeline—has a butterfly motif in Awakening

On a different note, I've seen a lot of people complaining about how many álfar designs we've gotten, and it's true! We've gotten 20 álfar total (10 of each), all women, of the 55 women designs (versus 38 males). But, I think the fairy favoritism is starting to wane based on the last few months of designs. Plus, we have the possibility of designs from Yggdrasil and, of course, Vanaheimr. I would love to see a Resplendent Stahl in fairy garb since he's always smeepy, or Forrest since he's very fashion-forward. But for what it is now, it looks like we're starting to get some diversity back (especially compared to the earlier half of the year. We had 3 álfar in a row before this LOL...)

Anyway, I love Resplendent!Adult!Tiki. She is gorgeous, and I love how she has elements combining Dökkálfheimr, Plegia, and her roots as a Divine Dragon. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Here's the Twitter version if you prefer.

IDEA: The eyes are a symbol of being a divine dragon/of great power from old Thabes!

You may need to elaborate, because I'm afraid I don't follow the logic.

The ancient Divine Dragons (including Naga, Duma, and Mila) to the best of my knowledge don't use eye symbology: none of their art that I've been able to find features those particular patterns, which to me doesn't support the idea that the symbol represents being a divine dragon among their own people. Considering, too, that Grima is not a divine dragon -- they may have been alchemically created from divine dragon blood, but they ended up being something completely different, and moreover they were born outside the tribe and spent most of their early life isolated from the outside world. Grima simply doesn't have the connection to the divine dragons to explain the eyes from that angle.

As for old Thabes, even if the eyes were a symbol of power that Grima could embrace (which has its own issue in that Grima grew up in complete isolation, and likelywouldn't understand the meaning of the symbols left behind by ancient Thabeans), there's no reason for Tiki to adopt the iconography, since she has no connection to Thabes at all: depending on how you view the timeline, Tiki was either sealed away before the fall of Thabes, or born well after its destruction.

The fact that the eye pattern is so similar between the two is honestly a mystery to me, because while symbols do have a way of cropping up across time and history and culture, they aren't usually identical the way these two are, and I can't find a reasonable explanation for it that doesn't involve Tiki's Resplendent directly drawing on Grima's iconography, and that's weird and intriguing to me.
